Pogba struggled to find his best form in the opening weeks of the season, but had a hand in both of his side's goals as they beat Genoa 2-0 on Sunday and he feels the team work has increased this term. "With Carlos, Arturo and Andrea we could rely on individual moments of brilliance. Now we play more as a team," Pogba told the club's official website. The 22-year-old took over the number 10 shirt from Tevez following the latter's return to Boca Juniors, thus following in the footsteps of compatriot Michel Platini, and he is determined to honour the jersey. "Taking on the number 10 is to follow in the footsteps of Michel Platini and several other Juventus greats. It's very important that I honour the shirt on the pitch, the club has shown a lot of faith in me," he added. Džemaili - Was off the pace and failed to make much of an impact in the middle of the pitch, where he often came off second best to Pogba. 93 D. Laxalt - Looked bright down the left flank during a first half in which he showed plenty of attacking intent, but that changed after Izzo’s red card and he was forced onto the back foot. However, he defended brilliantly to keep Lichtsteiner quiet. 18 J. Ntcham - Impressed during the first half and looked bright in front of goal but Izzo’s red card forced him to sit deeper, where he struggled to find much joy. 16 Capel - Started well and looked bright on the ball but quickly faded and was too often caught in possession. 10 D. Perotti - Found it difficult to find much joy down the left flank, despite a few moments of neat link-up play with Laxalt, and was removed at half-time. Substitutes 11 Diogo Figueiras - Came on for Perotti at half-time and overall put in a strong performance but gave away a penalty when his outstretched foot caught Chiellini. 21 G. Pandev - Had a few bright moments after replacing Dzemaili but overall failed to find much joy in front of goal. 77 P. Tachtsidis - Added a sense of attacking urgency to a tiring Genoa side and played an important role whenever they pushed forward towards the end of the game. Juventus 1 G. Buffon - Had very little to do, particularly after Genoa were reduced to 10 men, but was nonetheless impressive when called upon to act. 26 S. Lichtsteiner - Was involved in a brilliant battle with Laxalt and looked bright when attacking, particularly in the second half. 15 A. Barzagli - Didn’t put a foot wrong in the middle of a Juventus defence that remained resolute and well-organised from start to finish. 3 G. Chiellini - Put in a strong display in the Juventus back four to frustrate Genoa’s forward line and did well to win his side a penalty at the other end of the pitch. 33 P. Evra - Never looked like being beaten down the left flank and, as a result, enjoyed a very comfortable afternoon. 27 S. Sturaro - Put in a solid if unspectacular performance in the middle of the pitch to frustrate the Genoa front line. 18 M. Lemina - Showed several bright signs of his first Juventus start and was an important component in the middle of the pitch. 10 P. Pogba - Played a vital role in both goals, as it was his close-range volley that hit Lamanna before rolling into the back of the net before he doubled his side’s lead with a well-struck penalty in the second half. 16 Juan Cuadrado - Started slowly but burst into life midway through the first half and was absolutely excellent from then onwards as he caused the Genoa defence continual problems with his pace and skill. 17 M. Mandžukić - It was a disappointing afternoon for the striker, who looked bereft of confidence in front of goal and failed to take advantage of several good opportunities. 9 Álvaro Morata - Looked bright at the start of the game but was unfortunately forced off the pitch due to a nasty-looking injury after just 22 minutes. Substitutes 37 R. Pereyra - Was excellent after replacing the injured Morata and set up his side’s opening goal with a brilliant cross-cum-shot. From then onwards, he was arguably one of the best Juventus' players. 11 Hernanes - Came on late on but failed to make much of an impact. 7 S. After 37 minutes of a balanced match, a shot from Pogba first hit the post and then bounced off Genoa’s goalkeeper Lamanna. The first goal cut Genoa off from the match, as five minutes later they ended up one man down as Izzo got sent off with two yellow cards. In the second half a generous penalty called in favour of Chiellini allowed Pogba to score his first penalty in Serie A and secure the victory for Juventus. Genoa Eugenio Lamanna – 6 – Unlucky - The own goal is pure chance, as the ball bounces on him. Concentrated during the rest of the match. Issa Cissokho – 5 – Bad - Constantly surpassed on his side by Cuadrado and not very present in attack. After Izzo was sent off played in the centre. Nicolas Burdisso – 5.5 – Busy - Tried as much as he could to stop Juventus’ attacks but in vain. Sebastian De Maio – 5 – Insecure - On his side Pereyra did almost everything he wanted. Made an horrendous pass in the second half that almost gave Juventus the third goal. Armando Izzo – 5 – Naive - Cuadrado drove him crazy for all the first half and after two evident fouls he is sent off at the 43rd minute. Tomas Rincon – 5.5 – Jolly - Not very present and his bad pass was the origin of Figueiras’ penalty. Blerim Dzemaili – 5.5. – Confused - Few memorable plays, including a good free kick in the first half. Apart from that, he didn’t leave a mark on the pitch. Replaced by Pandev after 57 minutes. Diego Laxalt – 6 – Lively - One of the few to resist the pressure of Juventus. Positive also in attack, where he had some good moments with Tachtsidis. Olivier Ntcham – 6.5 – Surprise - The young Frenchman continues with his impressive start of the season, playing well even in an unfamiliar position. Diego Capel – 6 – Retrieved - Showed himself to be in a good condition for the first time this season. Diego Perotti – 6.5 – Pillar - He is the source of all Genoa’s play but didn’t manage to leave a lasting mark. Out after the first half for Figueiras. Substitutes Diogo Figueiras – 5.5 – Dangerous - Replaced Perotti after the first half. Caused the penalty for 0-2. Goran Pandev – 5.5 – Harmless - Replaced Dzemaili after 57 minutes. Good movements but nothing really dangerous. Panagiotis Tachtsidis – 6 – Positive - Replaced Diego Capel after 65 minutes. Had a positive impact on the match creating two dangerous chances for himself and Laxalt. Juventus Gianluigi Buffon – 6 – Relaxed - Didn’t have many shots to save. Stephan Lichtsteiner – 6 – Push - He played well but not memorably. Had more to defend than attack. Andrea Barzagli – 6.5 – Dedicated - Usual good defence and perfect command of the defensive game of Juventus. Giorgio Chiellini – 6 – Risky - He is often risking to be booked or to concede a penalty but is hard to pass and gained the penalty for 2-0. Patrice Evra – 6.5 – Solid - A good match, concentrated in defence and dangerous in attack. Stefano Sturaro – 6 – Strong - Less present than Tuesday in the Champions League but nonetheless played with confidence. Mario Lemina – 5.5 – Rookie - In his debut with Juventus, the former Marseille player is a bit too impetuous. Some sparks of an interesting player though. Substituted after 75 minutes for Hernanes. Paul Pogba – 6.5 – Scorer - The two goals have their mark. However, he hit the bar on the first goal and in general tried to hard for the trick rather than playing with substance. On the way to come back as the star player Juventus desperately need him to be. Juan Cuadrado – 7 – Whirlwind - He is everywhere. Izzo went crazy trying to stop him. Almost all the offensive play of Juventus started with him. Mario Mandzukic – 5.5 – Slow - He is too out of the game and looked slow. Replaced by Zaza after 82 minutes. Alvaro Morata – 6 – Injured - Started well but after 20 minutes he was out injured. Substitutes Roberto Pereyra – 6.5 – Twelfth-man - Replaced Morata after 22 minutes. The visitors were fortunate to break the deadlock in the 37th minute when Paul Pogba's close-range strike hit the crossbar and the ball bounced off Genoa goalkeeper Eugenio Lamanna and went in. Genoa suffered a further blow six minutes later when defender Armando Izzo was sent off for a second yellow card. Pogba then doubled Juve's lead from the penalty spot on the hour after Genoa's Diogo Figueiras brought down Giorgio Chiellini in the box. The home side failed to test Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon throughout the encounter and suffered their third loss of the campaign. With only one point from their opening three matches, Juventus gained a boost in confidence with a 2-1 Champions League triumph at Manchester City on Tuesday. Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri fielded the same attack that won their Group D opener at the Etihad Stadium, with Juan Cuadrado playing alongside Alvaro Morata and Mario Mandzukic. It took just 23 seconds for the visitors to make their mark at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Morata threatened with a right-footed shot from the edge of the Genoa box that was saved by Lamanna. Juventus were then dealt a blow as Morata picked up an injury and had be replaced by Roberto Pereyra. Moments later Paul Pogba curled a free kick over the bar and Patrice Evra headed another set piece off target, as the Old Lady started to provide more of an attacking threat. The visitors made their pressure pay by taking the lead in the 36th minute as Pogba latched onto Pereyra's cross at the back post, and saw his effort hit the bar, before the ball rebounded off Lamanna and ended up in the back of the net. It was Cuadrado who threatened for Juventus at the start of the second half, with a powerful low drive from outside the box that sailed inches wide of the far post.
