Marotta: Vidal never for sale Aug 20, 2014 Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta insists Arturo Vidal has never been for sale at any point this summer. The Chilean midfielder has been linked with a big money move to the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United in recent months. However, speaking to Sky Sport, the official said the player has returned to Old Lady training following injury and will be available for the Serie A champions again soon. “Vidal is fine, he has started training again and his knee is working as normal again,” Marotta said. “He is still available for the team, there is always the same speculation about him. The 29 year old Spanish international had a solid debut season in the Serie A last term, and has established himself as a first team member of the Bianconeri. Rai Sport report that Valencia offered €10 million for the towering striker, but Juventus dismissed the offer, insisting the striker was not on the market. Reports emerged over the weekend that Juventus were willing to offload Llorente, to then make a play for Monaco striker Falcao, but these reports have been deemed false. Llorente has been in fine form this pre-season for Juventus, and looks set to start alongside Carlos Tevez when the league restarts.

Everyone can contribute something. “If someone does a bad job, including the gardener, you will drop points along the way. To collect 102 points is impossible - the average you need to win is usually 84-85 points. I just want to have one more than second place.” Juve are again expected to do better in the Champions League. “Fortunately in the past four participations I have always passed through to the knockout stage and once got through to the quarter-finals. Among other things, Marrone is a pleasant surprise as a defender - he has a clear evolution to this role. “And offensively what is the situation? It is important to recover Morata, then we will see what we can do. We would need a player who can play two roles. Morata, for example, can play as prima punta, but he is more a seconda and it is also feasible he can play on the wing in a tridant. “So, if someone comes in then they need to be useful - we do not need a striker at a low level that does not improve us.”

Allegri: Two formations useful Aug 18, 2014 Massimiliano Allegri sees value in Juventus’ tour of Asia and tactical flexibility and comments once more on working again with Andrea Pirlo. The Bianconeri ended their tour of Indonesia, Australia and Singapore with a 5-0 win over a Singapora selection over the weekend. Ahead of returning to Italy to see out pre-season, the club’s new Coach has reflected on the positives to take from the four wins recorded. “The tour has been used to do some good work - we trained hard and well. We grew in a physical aspect,” Allegri has told the giornalaccio rosa dello Sport. “And then we carried forth the 3-5-2 system whilst also deepening our knowledge of another playing system. I think it is very fortunate to be able to switch between two formations, even in the same game. “There are moments in the season where you can play with three [defenders] and others when it is better to do so with four.” Attention is on Allegri’s intentions to use a four-man defence for 2014-15. “The team showed good signs in the two phases when they played with a four in Jakarta and Sydney, and also for the whole game in Singapore. “We need to work hard to acquire the knowledge to make it possible to use a different formation with the same reliability. “Would this other formation be a 4-3-1-2? Often I say 4-3 and then we’ll see. It depends on the characteristics of the players. I have the fortune in only teaching the one system, as the other is already in place. “But I don’t have a playmaker? I can adapt someone. Pereyra has the features to do so even if he is not a classic finisher. I can not see Pogba in that role, Marchisio rather yes. “Tevez can play in a 4-3-2-1 with two players moving between the lines, and also in the 4-3-1-2. When you have great players it is much simpler. “But switching to a 4-3-3 is proving more difficult? Yes, for the characteristics of the players. The only winger is Pepe, then there is Coman, who has great quality but who is very young. He will be useful this year.” Allegri is reunited at Juve with Andrea Pirlo, having allowed him to leave Milan at the end of the 2010-11 season after a difficult year together. However, for the 47-year-old, a repeat scenario in Turin is unlikely. “This issue was never there. Football is not an exact science - there are years that begin one way and end up in another. “In that season Andrea was unlucky - he was a starter, he got injured, it took him a little while to return and we went forward with a different line-up. Then other assessments were made by the club considering the economic aspect. “At a technical level, Pirlo has more quality than everyone else and at a physical level he is the same as 10 years ago, so… “When Pirlo does need to rest, who will take his place? Marchisio, he is tactically intelligent.”

5 Reasons Why Roma Won't Win Silverware This Season Aug 17, 2014 Though they have been the side that has looked most likely to knock Juventus from the precipice of Italian football recently, Roma could struggle to win any trophies in 2014-15. The Giallorossi finished runners-up to Juventus in Serie A last season, and they have progressed to at least the quarter-final stage in the Coppa Italia every year since winning it back to back in 2006-07 and 2007-08. But while they will be considered contenders in several competitions in the upcoming campaign, it is difficult to see Roma taking home any silverware. Here are five reasons why. Juventus Are Still the Kings The Giallorossi may have finished second in Serie A in 2013-14, but by season's end they trailed Juventus by the massive margin of 17 points. That is the gap which needs to be closed if Roma, and others, are to compete for the league title, and it is hard to see anyone making such a vast leap. The one ray of hope may be that Juventus decide to concentrate on European football, rather than focus on winning their fourth straight Scudetto. But even if that is the case, someone in the trailing pack will have to produce an near-perfect campaign to overhaul the champions. While the Coppa Italia might offer more of an opportunity for silverware due to the knockout format of the competition, the Bianconeri will start that competition as favourites as well. Totti Isn't Getting Any Younger Francesco Totti has been Roma's talisman for so long now that it is hard to remember a time when the club was not heavily reliant on him. And if the Giallorossi's pre-season was anything to go on, Totti will once again be the side's most influential attacking player. This is somewhat worrisome when you consider the legendary No. 10 is now 37 years old. While his skills remain as honed as ever, Totti's ageing legs can no longer be counted on to carry him through 90 minutes of every game of a long season. The Roma captain managed 20 starts in 2013-14, and he was subbed off on 14 of those occasions. His participation levels will surely drop off even further in the upcoming campaign, meaning the Giallorossi will have to find a way to win without their main man. Inter, Napoli and Fiorentina Have Strong Squads Roma may have been the second best Italian side last season, but there are a group of teams who are looking in good shape to overhaul them this time around. Inter have a fresh look about them and, with Walter Mazzarri entering his second year in charge, should hit the ground running. While Milan may still be a side in transition, Napoli and Fiorentina both appear to have strong squads heading into the 2014-15 season, and they will be pushing for domestic honours. Lack of Firepower Up Front Though there is considerable talent among Roma's posse of attacking players, it does seem they are lacking a genuinely world-class goalscorer. As mentioned, Totti is still capable of brilliance, but he cannot be depended on to score more than 20 goals as he did in his younger days. Mattia Destro is the closest the Giallorossi have to a target man, and while he managed 13 Serie A goals last campaign, he will need to take his game up another level if Roma are going to be in the running for trophies at season's end. Those in the support cast such as Gervinho, Juan Iturbe, Adem Ljajic and Marco Borriello can contribute a handful of goals, but they are not quite as fearsome as some of the other strikers in Serie A, at least at this point of their respective careers. Roma Are Not Ready to Win the Champions League While Roma fans will be delighted to see their side in the Champions League this season, there is little chance of the team going all the way in the world's most prestigious club competition. Roma will be seeded in pot three or four, meaning they are sure to come up against at least one of European football's powerhouse clubs in the group stage. Even if they make it through to the knockout rounds, it is hard to see them getting past the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid to claim the trophy. Domestic football will be the club's best chance of silverware.

Pirlo: 'Available for Conte's Italy' Aug 17, 2014 Andrea Pirlo “will gladly accept” an Italy call-up from new Coach Antonio Conte, postponing his retirement. The Juventus midfielder had written in his autobiography that he’d hang up his Azzurri boots after the 2014 World Cup. However, the arrival of ex-Bianconeri tactician Conte on the bench could well change his mind. “The Nazionale? I am available,” Pirlo told Tuttosport after bagging a brace in a 5-0 friendly win over Singapore. “If Conte calls me, then I will gladly accept, as always. Juve target Falcao for Llorente Aug 17, 2014 Juventus and Liverpool reportedly asked AS Monaco for Radamel Falcao on loan, as Valencia want Fernando Llorente. The Colombian international hitman only left Atletico Madrid for £50m last summer, but is widely believed to be unhappy at Monaco. His first choice would be moving to Real Madrid, but they cannot make a bid this year due to Financial Fair Play rules, having already spent £90m for the likes of James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos and Keylor Navas. According to the giornalaccio rosa dello Sport, Monaco would be prepared to loan Falcao out for one season so that he can find his fitness after a lengthy injury lay-off. That way he’d be able to bide his time and wait one year for Real Madrid to take him on, or agree a buy-out clause with this new club. Juventus have approached Monaco to ask for his signature, but face competition from Liverpool, who are still seeking a replacement for Barcelona-bound Luis Suarez. The Mail on Sunday claims Monaco are demanding a £12m loan fee, though it could well be negotiated down. The Bianconeri would pay for this move – and his huge £10m per season wages – by accepting Valencia’s bid for Fernando Llorente. The same newspaper claims Valencia have offered €10m (£8m) for Llorente, but that Juve want double that sum to release the Spaniard. It would be a huge boost to their finances, as they picked up Llorente on a free from Athletic Bilbao a year ago.

I suoi passaggi hanno una distanza media di 22 metri, contro i 18 di Borja Valero e i 16 di Pjanic. Chiaro che se passi più lungo è più difficile essere precisi. Oltre a una media di quasi 10 passaggi lunghi a partita, poi, Pirlo è dietro solo a Cassano per passaggi filtranti riusciti (12 a 11). Ciò significa che si prende rischi, gioca palloni tra le linee e oltre la linea difensiva, con una percentuale di errore bassa. Merito della sua tecnica sopraffina, e non è certo una scoperta di quest’anno. Non è una scoperta che sia tra i migliori centrocampisti del campionato per rendimento e il migliore nel suo ruolo. Lo scudetto di Vidal Vale 50 milioni di euro ed è cercato da Real Madrid e Barcellona, il che per un giocatore significa essere tra i migliori al mondo. In realtà Arturo Vidal non ha bisogno di queste certificazioni. Ha una considerazione di sé molto alta e pensa già di essere il migliore nel suo ruolo. In Inghilterra quelli come lui sono giocatori “box-to-box”. Da area a area, perché in campo sanno fare tutto. Vidal non è solo un centrocampista. È un tuttocampista. In fase difensiva ha numeri da difensore, in fase offensiva ha numeri da attaccante. In Serie A nessuno è bravo quanto lui. Secondo per tackle riusciti (96, dato squawka), abbina a questa efficacia difensiva 11 gol, come un attaccante di buon livello. Da attaccante è anche la percentuale di conversione in gol delle occasioni, pari al 22,9%. Quella di Tevez, che però tira di più rispetto a Vidal, è ad esempio del 20,7%. Da notare poi che i suoi gol sono arrivati tutti da dentro l’area. Significa sapersi muovere negli ultimi 16 metri e avere un tempo d’inserimento fuori dal comune. L’unica eccezione è questa rete, con deviazione, al Catania (minuto 0:42). In effetti è proprio sui tempi di gioco che Vidal fa la differenza. Quando la palla supera il centrocampo, lui scatta in verticale tra le linee avversarie, dando la possibilità del lancio lungo o facendosi trovare pronto alla deviazione nel caso l’azione si sviluppi sulle fasce. Sa inserirsi al momento giusto e i tanti gol segnati non sono che la logica conseguenza. Senza la palla la sua pressione è fondamentale, perché o fa ripartire l’azione o rallenta la manovra avversaria, dando ai compagni il tempo di riposizionarsi. È un giocatore temuto e vederselo davanti ti fa pensare che è meglio scaricare all’indietro piuttosto che tentare l’uno contro uno. Per questo Vidal è il giocatore chiave nelle transizioni bianconere, perché basta il suo movimento a uscire sul portatore di palla per far alzare di conseguenza anche i compagni. Il suo rendimento è stato superiore alle precedenti stagioni, almeno finché il ginocchio destro gliel’ha permesso. In campionato è partito col botto con la doppietta alla Lazio e il gol all’Inter. A gennaio era già in doppia cifra, mentre l’ultima rete l’ha segnata ancora all’Inter, nella gara di ritorno. Alla fine ha chiuso con 11 centri: solo Tevez e Llorente hanno fatto meglio nella Juve. Nelle coppe è stato poi il bomber assoluto, con 7 gol tra Champions (5) ed Europa League (2). Un annata super, rovinata solo dai problemi al menisco, motivo per cui è stato operato a inizio maggio. Resta da vedere quindi in che condizioni Vidal si presenterà ai Mondiali. Per chi si sente il numero uno al mondo non c’è vetrina migliore per dimostrarlo. da Calcio Critico

Lo scudetto di Buffon I suoi eredi si mettano l’anima in pace. Buffon è ancora un grande portiere, con una costanza di rendimento che si può confrontare solo con De Sanctis quest’anno. Pochissimi gli errori evidenti. La gara peggiore il 25 gennaio contro la Lazio. Prima un controllo impreciso e un tentativo di dribbling su Klose, con l’attaccante che gli toglie il pallone in scivolata. Poi l’uscita sempre su Miro che gli vale il rosso, unico cartellino della stagione. Il resto del campionato è quasi impeccabile. Il livello delle sue prestazioni segue quello della squadra. All’ottava giornata, quella del 4-2 contro la Fiorentina, ha subìto 9 gol (contro il Verona, 2-1 per la Juve, aveva giocato Storari). Più di uno a partita, con due imprecisioni: un tuffo poco reattivo sul sinistro da fuori di Rossi e una respinta centrale che fa segnare Klose nel 4-1 alla Lazio, la gara di campionato in cui ha fatto più parate, 7. La fase difensiva della Juve ha qualche problema. Gli avversari tirano con regolarità e Buffon non è pulito in alcuni interventi. Le cose cambiano dopo la trasferta di Firenze: la squadra di Conte non subisce gol per otto partite e Buffon può registrare il record d’imbattibilità personale, 745′, sesto posto nella classifica all-time della Serie A. Lui è meno impegnato, ma è determinante con le sue parate. In Juventus-Udinese ha un riflesso clamoroso su Di Natale, in una sfida chiave, subito dopo il sorpasso sulla Roma e risolta al 91′ da Llorente. A Cagliari è fondamentale con una parata coi piedi in controtempo su Dessena. La gara era sull’1-1 e sarebbe finita 4-1 per la Juve. A marzo la sua forma raggiunge il top. Contro il Milan fa cinque parate, due in particolare su Kakà, che sono una parte decisiva del 2-0 finale. Contro il Genoa è ancora più incisivo sul risultato con il rigore parato a Calaiò sullo 0-0. Pirlo all’89′ avrebbe segnato l’1-0. Lì lo scudetto è già praticamente conquistato, ma Buffon mantiene un livello di rendimento altissimo. Contro il Napoli è il migliore nonostante la sconfitta e nelle partite successive ha una piccola incertezza solo sul gol di Zaza, un sinistro preso sul suo palo, anche se toccato da Ogbonna. Nulla toglie al grande campionato di Buffon, protagonista più che negli altri due scudetti vinti. Concentrato, preciso nelle uscite e nei rinvii (complessivamente ha una precisione dell’85%, dato top in Serie A, da squawka), compensa col senso della posizione una reattività e un’esplosività inevitabilmente calanti. Imbattuto in 19 partite sulle 32 giocate, un rapporto che vale il primato tra i portieri di questa Serie A. La media gol subìti (0,63) è la più bassa del campionato. La normalità di Allegri HALMA! Mi è stato chiesto di scrivere la mia opinione sulle qualità da allenatore di Allegri. Ammetto di non essere un suo fan: non mi piace il suo calcio e credo abbia ottenuto risultati inferiori alle potenzialità del suo Milan. Però c’è un fatto incontestabile: alla partenza del campionato 2014/15 sarà l’unico tecnico ad aver già vinto lo scudetto. È una questione di prospettive e ambizioni. Per le prospettive e le ambizioni della Juventus Allegri è la scelta più giusta, perché ha vinto in Italia e ha esperienza in Champions League. È in grado quindi di centrare gli obiettivi della dirigenza bianconera: confermarsi in Italia e superare la fase a gironi in Europa. Di più non gli si può e non gli si deve chiedere. Allegri, avendo a disposizione quella che è ancora la rosa più forte in Italia, può vincere tranquillamente il campionato. Nel suo modo di intendere il calcio non è l’allenatore a fare la differenza: “Gli allenatori non devono fare numeri dalla panchina, non sono gli schemi a far vincere, ma l’organizzazione e i giocatori. Il calcio non è il basket, parliamo di un altro sport”. Nella sua visione i giocatori sono più importanti dell’idea di gioco e il compito dell’allenatore è quello di trovare un equilibrio e mettere i giocatori migliori al loro posto. L’elogio della semplicità e del pragmatismo, qualità che non accendono le fantasie dei tifosi, ma fanno vincere le partite. Per confermarsi in Italia la Juve non ha bisogno d’altro se non di un gestore che non stravolga quanto fatto negli ultimi anni. Un ruolo tagliato su misura per Allegri. Per rendimento in Serie A “Acciuga” sta a metà tra Mancini e Spalletti, gli altri due candidati per la panchina bianconera. Meglio di Spalletti, peggio di Mancini. Anche per il palmarès vale la stessa classifica: Mancini è il più titolato (quattro Coppe Italia, due Supercoppe e tre Scudetti) e l’unico ad aver vinto con squadre diverse (Fiorentina, Lazio e Inter), Allegri sta in mezzo (uno Scudetto e una Supercoppa), Spalletti è il meno titolato (due Coppe Italia e una Supercoppa). Con Mancini che si è tirato fuori per la possibilità di diventare CT della Nazionale (parole di Nedved), Allegri ha rappresentato la scelta più giusta, nonché quella col miglior rapporto qualità-prezzo, avendo un ingaggio inferiore agli altri due. In Europa poi ha sempre superato il girone di Champions League, pur con numeri deludenti. In totale ha messo insieme 32 panchine (senza considerare le due gare del playoff contro il PSV), con una percentuale di vittorie del 31,25%, una media punti di 1,31, una media di gol fatti di 1,25 e di gol subìti di 1,16. Allegri è tutto qui: risultati discreti senza eccellere, mostrando raramente un bel calcio. In un campionato di seconda fascia come quello italiano, con la squadra più forte del lotto, le sue virtù di normalizzatore sono sufficienti a continuare un lavoro svolto da un altro più bravo di lui. da Calcio Critico

La scommessa Morata Ventidue anni da compiere, la carriera di Álvaro Morata è a un primo bivio. Da una parte c’è la conquista della maglia da titolare nella Juventus e l’esplosione propedeutica al ritorno al Real Madrid. Dall’altra c’è il ruolo di promessa mancata, di giocatore buono per club di livello medio-alto, incapace di essere decisivo in club di prima fascia. La Juve crede fortemente nella prima opzione, visto che l’ha pagato 20 milioni (pagabili in tre anni). Un prezzo elevato – il più alto di sempre per un canterano del Madrid – per un giocatore che non ha nemmeno un anno da titolare alle sue spalle. Esordio nella Liga e in Copa del Rey nel 2010, sotto la gestione Mourinho. Una presenza stagionale nel 2011/12, poi l’ingresso in pianta stabile in prima squadra nelle ultime due annate. Le presenze complessive dal 1′ sono state 13 in due anni, tra Liga, Champions League e Copa del Rey. Una miseria, nonostante il consenso popolare tra la gente del Real. Difficile giudicare su basi così ristrette. Quel che è certo è che Morata sa fare gol. Non è però una prima punta statica, tant’è che Mourinho lo impiegava come esterno nel 4-2-3-1. In quel ruolo ha fatto un assist a Benzema in un Clásico finito 2-1, il primo della carriera. Possiamo dunque inquadrare Morata come un attaccante centrale che si muove molto, ottimo come finalizzatore, ma ancora incapace (lo sarà mai?) di essere un giocatore di manovra. Nell’ultimo campionato ha avuto una media di 7,3 passaggi a partita e una precisione del 69% (dati whoscored). Chiaro che i pochi minuti messi insieme influiscono negativamente, ma il trend della sua carriera indica che è un attaccante non sempre presente nella partita, che si accende quando ha spazi da attaccare. Pur avendo una struttura fisica importante (un metro e 90 per 82 kg), è dotato di una grande velocità. Quando parte in progressione palla al piede è difficile da fermare. Il gol alla Germania nell’Europeo Under-21 del 2013 è un buon esempio. Velocità e potenza. Fisicamente regge alla grande lo scontro coi difensori e nell’ultima Liga ha vinto il 70% dei duelli aerei in cui è stato coinvolto (dato squawka). La cosa che gli riesce meglio è comunque fare gol. Riportato da Ancelotti al centro dell’attacco, come riserva di Benzema, Morata ha realizzato 8 reti in campionato (quarto marcatore di squadra), tutte da subentrato. La sua media gol è stata di uno ogni 72′, la percentuale realizzativa del 22,9% (dati squawka), a testimonianza della sua efficacia sotto porta. In nazionale ha portato questa sua caratteristica all’estremo. Con l’Under-19 spagnola ha vinto l’Europeo nel 2011 e due anni più tardi ha replicato con l’Under-21. Di entrambi i tornei è stato il capocannoniere (6 gol nel 2011 e 4 nel 2013). Solo dopo l’Europeo vinto è diventato titolare nell’Under-21, che sta guidando a una facile qualificazione a Euro 2015. Nelle partite del girone ha segnato 8 gol (secondo marcatore assoluto), timbrando in tutte le gare tranne che contro l’Albania. La sua media gol è di uno ogni 62′. Conclusione La Juventus ha fatto un investimento. Morata non vale 20 milioni ora, ma ne varrà di più se avrà imboccato la strada giusta al primo bivio della sua carriera. La scommessa è di certo molto cara, ma è allo stesso tempo affascinante. Il ragazzo ha mezzi fisico-atletici fuori dal comune e ha dimostrato di vedere bene la porta. Il mio dubbio riguarda la sua funzionalità in una squadra abituata negli anni della gestione Conte a dominare le partite e a giocare contro avversari schierati. Essendo fortissimo negli spazi dovrà adattare il suo gioco al sistema juventino se vorrà guadagnarsi la maglia da titolare. da Calcio Critico
