  1. Juventus Player Ratings vs Lazio: Chiesa and Vlahovic Roar in Coppa Italia Win Juventus (3-5-2) Mattia Perin – 6 ............ Federico Gatti – 6.5 The former Frosinone man began his outing by inadvertently injuring Mattia Zaccagni. Despite being rash at times, it was a solid and composed display at the back. Gleison Bremer – 7 The resolute Brazilian defender never gave Ciro Immobile or his substitute Taty Castellanos a yard of space. Another defensive masterclass. Danilo – 6.5 The Juventus captain was always there to pull off timely interceptions and clear the ball out of danger. Andrea Cambiaso – 7.5 A brilliant display from the former Genoa man who created Chiesa’s opener almost out of nothing by eclipsing his markers and putting Chiesa through on goal with a fabulous long ball. This was only the highlight of a grand outing. Weston McKennie – 7.5 The USMNT star ran his socks off and covered every yard of the pitch with his non-stop running. Won the ball on countless occasions and provided the assist for Vlahovic. Manuel Locatelli – 6 ............ Adrien Rabiot – 7 A commanding display in the middle of the park from the Frenchman who had the better of his compatriot Mateo Guendouzi. Played an integral role in the second goal. Filip Kostic – 6 ............ Dusan Vlahovic – 8 The former Fiorentina man displayed just how clinical he can be by scoring from his solitary chance. He was also a thorn in the back of Alessio Romagnoli and company throughout the match, and showcased his dedication to the cause by constantly tracking back and covering for his teammates. Max Allegri will be proud. Federico Chiesa – 7.5 The Italian star took his chance brilliantly, leaving the Lazio goalkeeper with no chance. On his day, he remains the biggest source of creativity for Juventus. Substitutes Kenan Yildiz – 6.5 The Turkish teenager kept the pressure on the Lazio backline following his introduction. 2. Chiesa and Vlahovic give Juventus advantage in Coppa Italia semi-final Juventus started the game looking for a quick goal and had some chances, but they never came close to scoring inside the first ten minutes. Two minutes later, the Bianconeri thought they had a penalty when Matias Vecino brought down Federico Chiesa; however, after a VAR review, the penalty was overturned. ............ The teams could not be separated at the break, and Max Allegri had a big halftime talk to make. Whatever he said during the break worked as Juve scored five minutes after the restart when Chiesa drilled the ball into the bottom right corner in trademark fashion. After Weston McKennie came close to doubling Juventus’ lead, Dusan Vlahovic did and hit it sweetly into the bottom left corner after a deft assist from the American. ............ Both teams could not find another goal in added time, and Juve held on to win and return to winning ways, but this is just the first half in the tie. 4. Ex-Serie A keeper feels Juventus and Chiesa ‘look empty’ Former Lazio goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani analyses Juventus‘ run of poor results, saying that Bianconeri players, especially their star striker Federico Chiesa, ‘look empty.’ The Serie A giants won just Serie A one game from the last nine, collecting seven points and seeing fourth-placed Bologna move just two below them in the table. ............ Talking about Juventus’ latest league loss on Sky Sport Italia, ex-Lazio keeper Marchegiani said: “That game was a tough one for Juve, and it had the worst possible outcome. They had nearly collected a point.” “What was even more surprising is that the team looked empty,” continued Marchegiani. “Juventus used to have a different intensity and it feels strange that the problem is only physical because it is the team that played the least games. Look at Chiesa, he also looks empty,” concluded Marchegiani. ............ Read more -> https://football-italia.net/ex-serie-a-keeper-feels-juventus-and-chiesa-look-empty/
  5. Juventus sporting director Giovanni Manna set to join Napoli Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano delivers breaking news on Juventus sporting director Giovanni Manna, linking him with a move to Napoli. The 35-year-old joined the club as an academy manager back in 2019 before taking over the Juventus Next Gen project the following year. When Federico Cherubini received a sporting ban last January, Manna earned a sudden promotion, becoming the first team’s sporting director. Despite the arrival of Cristiano Guintoli in the summer, the 35-year-old maintained his post, acting as the right-hand man of the club’s new Football Director. But while Giuntoli made the switch from Napoli to Juventus last summer, Manna could be set to move in the opposite direction. ............. 6. Elkann supports Giuntoli’s choice: Juventus intensify contact with Thiago Motta Juventus Football Director Cristiano Giuntoli reportedly has the green light to pursue the services of Thiago Motta. With every miserable outing, it is becoming evidently clear that Max Allegri has no future at Continassa. The Livorno native has been unable to steer the team back to winning ways in recent months, as the Bianconeri continue to bleed points while falling further in the Serie A standings. ............. Juventus majority owner John Elkann is becoming increasingly convinced by Giuntoli’s plan to replace Allegri with the Italo-Brazilian coach. The Juventus Football Director has intensified contacts with Motta’s entourage in recent weeks, as he looks to secure the services of one of the most sought-after young tacticians in Europe. ............. 7. Three possible Allegri replacements at Juventus revealed Tuttosport newspaper reports Thiago Motta is the leading candidate to replace Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus in 2024-25, but Massimo Brambilla or club legend Paolo Montero could be appointed as interim coach if the Livorno-born tactician is sacked before the end of the season. Allegri is under pressure at the Allianz Stadium as the Bianconeri won just one match from the last nine. They still sit third in the Serie A table, but Bologna are just two points below the Old Lady and Roma and Atalanta are getting closer to a Champions League placement. According to Tuttosport, Allegri could be sacked if Juventus get more disappointing results in the next two Serie A matches against Fiorentina and Torino. ............. 8. Don Hutchison backs Premier League manager to replace Allegri at Juventus On the latest episode of The Gab & Jules” show, former Liverpool star Don Hutchison filled in for Julien Laurens as co-host alongside Gabriele Marcotti. Both co-hosts agreed that Juventus cannot afford to remain “rubbish” for the rest of the season, arguing that the management must decide to put an end to Max Allegri’s reign sooner rather than later. Moreover, Hutchison suggested Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi as a replacement, but Marcotti pointed out that the club wouldn’t be able to afford him while simultaneously paying Allegri’s hefty wages. ............. 11. Preview: Juventus vs. Lazio - prediction, team news, lineups Juventus and Lazio face off three days after their league meeting in the first match of a two-legged Coppa Italia semi-final at the Allianz Stadium on Tuesday. The Old Lady paid the price for an overly passive approach in Saturday's Serie A clash, as Igor Tudor's reign in charge of the Biancocelesti began with a victory against his old side, adding more pressure on Massimiliano Allegri before this week's game. Match preview © Reuters Allegri's below-par start to 2024 took another negative turn on Saturday when Juventus failed to score in consecutive league matches, having their winless run extend to four games. The downturn in Turin since the turn of the year has been astonishing, with the Bianconeri winning just one match — a 3-2 victory over Serie A-struggling Frosinone on February 25 — since beating Lecce 3-0 on January 21. Picking seven points from nine league games has seen an unexpected Scudetto challenge go up in smoke. However, Allegri insists that Champions League qualification, which he always maintained was the target even when they kept pace with Inter Milan at the top, will be attained at the season's culmination. The Old Lady seek reprieve in the Coppa Italia, keen to add silverware to a possible Champions League return, even if they must get past a Lazio side that stung them late on at the Olimpico on Saturday through Adam Marusic's last-gasp winner for the capital club. Juventus have made it to seven of the last nine Coppa Italia finals, and Allegri hopes history stands them in good stead as the out-of-form giants aim for a positive result in Tuesday's game to put them in a strong position heading into the reverse fixture on April 23. ............ Team News © Reuters Dusan Vlahovic should return to the lineup after serving a one-match suspension for his sending-off against Genoa a fortnight back. Allegri surprisingly changed tack by utilising a 4-3-3 at the Olimpico instead of the typical 3-5-2, and it remains to be seen if the Juventus boss sticks to that approach or reverts to a back three on Tuesday. Paul Pogba is suspended for a doping-related offence, while Nicolo Fagioli is nearing the end of a seven-month ban for violating betting guidelines. Injury absentees could include Arkadiusz Milik, Alex Sandro and Carlos Alcaraz, while Filip Kostic is touch-and-go for this week. ............ Juventus possible starting lineup: Perin; Danilo, Bremer, Gatti; Weah, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Vlahovic, Chiesa (Yildiz) Lazio possible starting lineup: Mandas; Casale, Romagnoli, Gila; Marusic, Kamada, Cataldi, Pellegrini; Zaccagni, Alberto; Immobile We say: Juventus 1-1 Lazio Nothing is expected to be decided on Tuesday, with neither Allegri nor Tudor going all out to win the first leg in Turin. This could see both sides play out a cagey stalemate, leaving all to play for on April 23. 12. The probable Juventus formation for Coppa Italia semi-final: Allegri returns to 3-5-2 Juventus coach Max Allegri will reportedly resort to his tried-and-tested 3-5-2 formation for the cup tie against Lazio. After suffering a loss at the hands of the capital side in Serie A on Saturday, the Old Lady will be seeking revenge when they host the Aquile in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final on Tuesday night. ............ As usual, Wojciech Szczesny will be handed some rest with Mattia Perin being the designated Coppa Italia goalkeeper. ............ 13. Allegri doubts grow as Juventus risk losing out on Champions League Juventus’ loss to Lazio has only further increased the doubts surrounding coach Massimiliano Allegri as their Champions League spot starts to look uncertain. The Bianconeri have now managed to secure just seven points in their last nine Serie A games, picking up a single win since the end of January. Only Lecce, Sassuolo, Frosinone and Salernitana have done worse than Allegri’s side in the last two months. ............. Whilst the Bianconeri haven’t made any decisions yet, the next six weeks will be vital for the coach and the Old Lady. Failing to secure a top four finish would all but spell disaster for the Italian tactician. Read more -> https://football-italia.net/allegri-doubts-juventus-risk-champions/
  14. Criscitiello insists: Giuntoli will start his Juventus revolution by appointing Thiago Motta Italian journalist Michele Criscitiello expects Juventus to replace Max Allegri with Thiago Motta this summer. The Italo-Brazilian manager is enjoying a sensational campaign with Bologna who currently sit fourth in the Serie A table while playing an attractive brand of football. The 41-year-old’s contract will expire at the end of the season, and the Bianconeri have emerged as his main suitor. Many observers believe that Juventus will put an end to Allegri’s second reign at the club, paving the way for a new project. ............. “Giuntoli agreed to work for his favorite club but he knew well that he had two bitter pills to swallow: A summer without a transfer market, like tourist in Milan, and a year with Allegri on the bench,” wrote Criscitiello. “He’s been a caged lion and now he starts to roar. It will be a revolutionary market that will lead to many changes among the players and Thiago Motta will arrive on the bench, in the imagination of Giuntoli, who moved in advance to anticipate the competition from other big clubs. “With Motta, there is an agreement on years and numbers but above all on an agreement on how to set up the team. “Allegri will go towards a sabbatical or the termination of his contract.” ............. “The new Juventus will not be experimental, the fans are tired and will not accept the transition year because there will be yet another revolution. “Motta will take on a great responsibility. Let’s wait a few weeks and we’ll know more. For the coach, the next Champions League qualification with Bologna must first be achieved.” Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/criscitiello-insists-giuntoli-will-start-his-juventus-revolution-by-appointing-thiago-motta/
  15. Conte’s ex-teammate reveals: “Antonio eager to rejoin Juventus” An old teammate of Antonio Conte insists that the latter has been seeking a return to Juventus for quite some time. The 54-year-old is a former Bianconeri captain who has now cemented himself as one of the most sought-after managers in Europe. ............. But according to Ubaldo Righetti, the tactician’s true desire is to return to Turin. The 61-year-old was a former teammate of Conte during their time together at Lecce. ............. “I think Antonio is eager to rejoin Juventus, but not from now. This has been the case for a long time,” revealed the Rai commentator. “Allegri’s position needs to be evaluated, he still has one year left on his contract, a lucrative contract. Therefore, the situation remains uncertain. “But Conte’s great desire is to return to Juve. I’m certain of it.” ............. 16. Italian journalist on new Juventus formation: “Allegri sold us a false 4-3-3” Italian journalist Roberto Beccantini argues that Max Allegri tried to fool the public by claiming to adopt a more attacking formation. ............ On paper, Allegri fielded a 4-3-3 lineup against Lazio, spearheaded by Moise Kean, with Federico Chiesa on the left and Andrea Cambiaso on the right side. Nevertheless, the result was more of the same, with Juventus struggling to make an impact in the final third. ............ But according to Beccantini, the tactical change was more of a charade on Allegri’s part. The journalist insists that Juventus changed little in their approach despite what the lineup suggested. “From the twisted sheets of two teams in crisis, only the most motivated, most stubborn one could emerge alive,” noted Beccantini in his post-match analysis. “That is why Lazio won, in the 93rd minute, on a cross from Guendouzi (a substitute) and a header from Marusic, who stole a march on Sekulov (also a substitute). “In his first appearance in the Lazio dugout, Igor Tudor dropped Maurizio Sarri’s dogmas, mixed up a few cards and made some interesting tweaks. “Max, on the other hand, sold us a false 4-3-3 formation, with the return of De Sciglio and the advancement of Cambiaso. Kean was only holding the door and Chiesa was throwing himself on the crumbs. “The tactical modules are like slices of bread. It depends on how you fill them.” Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/italian-journalist-on-new-juventus-formation-allegri-sold-us-a-false-4-3-3/
  17. Pundit insists Allegri must find a solution to Juventus problems Juventus is currently facing a severe crisis, with mounting pressure on the manager to reverse the club’s fortunes. Max Allegri’s tenure at the club is likely approaching its conclusion, with this season possibly ending on a disappointing note. ............ These past few weeks have been particularly tough for the club, and according to pundit and former player Ubaldo Righetti, the responsibility for turning things around squarely rests on the manager’s shoulders. He said: “Did I expect this result? There was a risk. Juventus’ defensive line is experienced, but otherwise the average age, even with those who took over, is very low. It was said that the club must make itself heard, but if it has to make itself heard with 21-22 year old players it is difficult to expect a reaction. It is Allegri who must have the ability to find a solution. With this type of attitude Once upon a time Juve were rewarded, today they are not rewarded. Before they found the result even if it wasn’t pleasant, nice, being there, collected. Now there has been an upheaval in the team.” ............ 18. Adani accuses Juventus players of lacking commitment to winning Juventus is now winless in four consecutive games, hitting a rough patch at the worst possible time in the season. The Bianconeri displayed exceptional form in the first half of the term, but 2024 has proven to be a dismal year for them. Their recent poor form, with just one win in their last nine games, ranks among the worst in the division over the past few weeks and poses a significant threat to their top-four aspirations. ............ Daniele Adani has now responded to their recent struggles, accusing the Bianconeri players of lacking the commitment necessary to secure victories. “Going back to what Szczesny was saying, it seems strange to me that there is little assumption of responsibility. It doesn’t mean that commitment is lacking. , the attention, which I don’t question, absolutely zero. Indeed, it was the commitment that even when you didn’t play well you scored goals.” “However, there is little assumption of responsibility on the part of the coach and the club they must raise awareness of a path that is negative, not sufficient. Juventus does not play in European cups, they should have been more competitive. There is a lot to do to change and reverse a course that is not in keeping with history, the fans and the history of Allegri himself.” ............ 19. Fabrizio Ravanelli says Juventus is playing with no personality Fabrizio Ravanelli criticized Juventus following their loss to Lazio in Serie A yesterday. The Bianconeri have been consistently dropping points in the league, putting their position in the top four at risk. While Juventus currently holds a Champions League place, it’s largely due to their strong performance in the first half of the season. ............ “Juve has been very disappointing in recent weeks. A team that plays with fear and without ideas , as well as the wrong formation and substitutions. To wear the Juve shirt you need great personality. Instead, I see the players with a scared and resigned face on the pitch. The goal by Marusic? A very serious mistake by Locatelli and McKennie rather than by Sekulov.” ............ 20. “If we can’t handle the pressure, we ought to play five-a-side” – Szczesny delivers wake-up call Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny had a stern message to his teammates following last night’s defeat to Lazio. The 33-year-old is one of the most experienced players in the squad and a locker-room leader. ............ “This is a moment that makes you understand that each of us must give more for Juventus,” said the Poland international in his post-match interview. “We are aware that in the last two months, we have not done enough. It is a negative, hard moment that hurts us all. ............ “As for the group, I cannot say anything. The boys are training very well, they’re hungry but the results aren’t coming. “Everyone has to do more, but we don’t lack the desire to do well.” ............ “We are Juventus, if you don’t believe in the scudetto you can’t play for the club. “Everyone must learn to cope with the pressure, which is the best aspect in football. “If we can’t handle the pressure, we ought to play five-a-side football rather than representing Juventus,” concluded the goalkeeper.
