VERONA - JUVENTUS February 9, 2014 - 3:00 PM Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium — Verona Referee: Daniele Doveri Chiellini warns of tough Verona Feb 7, 2014 Giorgio Chiellini believes that Juventus’ game with Verona this weekend will be one of the most difficult of the season. http://markting10.nl/ The Bianconeri are nine points clear at the top of the table, but travel to face Andrea Mandorlini’s men on Sunday – a task the defender is not taking lightly. “Sunday’s game is the most difficult we’ve faced in this period because Verona are a solid team with plenty of enthusiasm and emerging players like Iturbe and Romulo, who have played at high levels worthy of great teams this season,” he told Sky Sport Italia. The centre-back then went on to comment on Luca Toni’s form for the Gialloblu and Dani Osvaldo’s arrival. http://markting10.nl/ “Toni’s an exceptional player, and we’re all happy that he’s still doing so well and proving himself as the champion he is. “He’s a great guy who contributes a lot to the group; he was here in a year when things weren’t going so well, but he’s a big threat. “Dani’s fired-up and determined. He wants to do well in this experience and he’s said that he wants to prove himself worthy of being at this club. http://markting10.nl/ “I’m convinced that this could be the place that provides Daniel with the stability to allow him to do really well. We’ve got lots of games coming up with the Europa League, and the more top players we have the better.” The arrival of the Italian international is the latest step in a trajectory of constant development over recent years, and it was this idea that concluded the centre-back’s interview. “We’re a different team to the one that won through a more dynamic and gung-ho style in the first year. http://markting10.nl/ “We’ve grown a lot in these two and a half seasons. We’ve made important changes to improve, and the players’ individual development has also been fundamental. “We feel much stronger than the Juve of two years ago, but we have to prove it every Sunday. That’s the challenge.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

Juventus Defender Stephan Lichtsteiner: Unheralded but Vital Feb 7, 2014 Since Antonio Conte arrived at Juventus in the summer of 2011, countless columns have been penned in tribute to his all-conquering team. It started with the perfectly balanced midfield of Claudio Marchisio, Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo, the "M-V-P" trio at the heart of that first title. http://markting10.nl/ The resurgent performances of Gianluigi Buffon and three-man back-line protectorate of Andrea Barzagli, Leo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini all received their time in the spotlight, as did the emerging talent of Paul Pogba last season. This year, the new front pairing of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente have enjoyed an effective start to life in Turin, finally giving Conte the attacking edge he previously lacked. Kwadwo Asamoah has emerged as a quality addition on the left flank, yet for all the progression in the side over the last three years, the excellent contribution of one man has been widely overlooked. It started in the very first game of Conte’s tenure and, in a manner befitting his nickname "The Swiss Express" has not stopped—or even slowed down — ever since. The new Juventus Stadium had seen just fifteen minutes of official match play when, having had his own route to goal blocked by not one but two opposing players, Pirlo checked his run and almost without looking clipped a ball over the top of the static Parma back line. http://markting10.nl/ Floated perfectly, it dropped to the feet of Stephan Lichtsteiner, who had cut in unnoticed from his position on the right. He controlled the ball with one foot before slotting past the helpless Antonio Mirante with the other, the ball settling into the back of the visitor’s goal. Their new home had its first competitive goal, and Juventus had not only found a new hero but, finally, a quality right-back to fill the team’s most long-standing void. After years of mediocre-at-best players like Jonathan Zebina and Marco Motta, Juventus supporters are fully aware of his quality, admiring the determination and effort Lichtsteiner puts forth every time he steps on the field. Yet while the awards, accolades and plaudits have reigned down upon his team-mates, the Swiss international has quietly become one of the best players in the world at his position. That goal was the first public appearance of a move that has become a major weapon in the arsenal of this side, with Pirlo’s ability to pick out the ex-Lazio man almost at will was on display again this past weekend, February 3rd. Over a shorter distance, his flicked ball over the top of Inter’s defence was exquisitely timed, and once again Lichtsteiner made no mistake in front of goal. http://markting10.nl/ Even here, with a goal against Juve’s bitter rivals, the 30-year-old deferred to the creator-in-chief, bowing down to polish Pirlo’s boot in celebration. “I have to thank Andrea, who laid it on a plate for me,” Lichsteiner told the club’s official website after the 3-1 victory. “With his assists, everything becomes much easier.” It marked the ninth time he had found the back of the net in 91 appearances for Turin’s grand Old Lady, while he has added 10 assists, numbers which compare favourably with those perceived as the continent’s best. Branislav Ivanovic has contributed to Chelsea scoring 21 times in that same period (15 goals, six assists), while Pablo Zabaleta (four goals, seven assists) and Philipp Lahm (zero goals, 25 assists) would also be in the conversation. In the five games he has played as a full-back this term, Lahm has averaged 2.0 tackles and 0.8 interceptions per game, while Ivanovic (1.9 and 1.2 respectively). Lichtsteiner’s figures of 1.3 and 0.8 stand up well against those two, but trail Alves (3.2/1.9) and Zabaleta (3.9/1.4) considerably. http://markting10.nl/ Yet in terms of being simply beaten by opponents, it is the Juve man leading the way, letting a dribbling player go past him just six times in Serie A action. That works out at 0.5 occasions per game; a figure matched by Ivanovic (12 times) but is far superior to Zabaleta (1.3/27), Lahm (1.1/19) and Alves (1.3/19). Lichtsteiner’s crossing is also superior to the others mentioned, averaging 1.2 successful attempts per game, beating Alves (1.0), Lahm, Ivanovic (both 0.5) and Zabaleta (0.2). Somehow, while putting on performances that stand up with those top-quality players, he was voted only in third place at the recent Gran Gala del Calcio awards. (h/t giornalaccio rosa dello Sport) Finishing behind Napoli duo Christian Maggio and Juan Zuniga highlights just how underrated the €10 million signing remains. With two Serie A titles already to his name, a third consecutive championship would see Stephan Lichtsteiner become a vital cog in only the second Juventus team to ever accomplish the feat. History remembers the winners, even if they go unappreciated today.

VERONA - JUVENTUS February 9, 2014 - 3:00 PM Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium — Verona Referee: Daniele Doveri Preview: Hellas Verona vs. Juventus Feb 7, 2014 Juventus could open up a 12-point gap at the top of the Serie A table with a win over Hellas Verona this weekend. http://markting10.nl/ The Bianconeri had seen their 12 game winning league run brought to end by drawing 1-1 with Lazio, but claimed a 3-1 victory over Inter Milan last weekend. They will face a Verona side who bounced back from three consecutive defeats, to claim a 2-1 win against Sassuolo last weekend. Despite their recent dip in form, the Gialloblu are fifth in the table, and will be looking to cement their spot in the Europa League qualifying places. http://markting10.nl/ Their impressive season has been largely down to their home form, having won eight league matches at the Stadio Marc'Antonio. Verona will be without the injured Massimo Donati, while Juventus welcome back Gianluigi Buffon from a one-match ban. Andrea Barzagli is a doubt for the visitors after going off injured during last weekend's match against Inter. http://markting10.nl/ Recent form Hellas Verona: WWLLLW Juventus: WWWWDW Possible starting lineups HELLAS VERONA: Rafael, Cacciatore, Moras, Marques, Agostini, Romulo, Cirigliano, Hallfredsson, Iturbe, Gomez, Toni JUVENTUS: Buffon, Caceres, Bonucci, Chiellini, Lichtsteiner, Pogba, Pirlo, Vidal, Asamoah, Tevez, Llorente Sports Mole says: 0-2 http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

VERONA - JUVENTUS February 9, 2014 - 3:00 PM Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium — Verona Referee: Daniele Doveri Toni: 11 lions will face Juve Feb 7, 2014 Luca Toni has mused on his past with Juventus, as he promises they will face ’11 lions’ from Verona this weekend. http://markting10.nl/ The Gialloblu play host to the Bianconeri this weekend and, despite surprising form in the first half of the season, are very much the underdogs against the League leaders. Even so, their veteran striker, who spent a year with the Turin outfit, the weekend will be savoured. “We face them calmly, beating Sassuolo [last weekend] interrupted a run of three defeats,” Toni has considered in Il Giornale today. http://markting10.nl/ “We will go into the field as 11 lions, to cause them problems. “My Juve past? At Juve I had a bad injury to my knee, so I did not always play to my best, and I did not reach my potential, but I came away with complete satisfaction. “I scored my 100th goal in Serie A with Juventus and also the first in the new stadium, in August, in a friendly against the English side Notts County. http://markting10.nl/ “My exit? It was just that Antonio Conte wanted to make other choices, upon his arrival. Unfortunately he had different ideas, preferring strikers with different characteristics. And younger.” “Pirlo and Buffon? They are two champions, they still make the difference. They represent the weapons in a squad that is already strong. They are the favourites for the Europa League.” Toni has netted 10 goals for Verona in Serie A this season. http://markting10.nl/ “I’m happy for the team, we have 35 points and we are just lacking securing League survival. They are a nice group of players, it is possible for us to continue, to repeat the first round [of the season]. “There is so much enthusiasm, the fans follow us everywhere. “Could I make the World Cup? If I am going to Brazil then I will be happy. Otherwise, I will just stay at home and support Italy as a fan.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

VIDEO: Pirlo, Lichtsteiner’s assist man Feb 7, 2014 Andrea Pirlo and Stephan Lichtsteiner’s understanding on the pitch is seemingly down to a similar relationship away from it. http://markting10.nl/ Pirlo provided the assist for Lichtsteiner to head Juventus into the lead during last weekend’s Derby d’Italia. With it not the first such pass from playmaker to full-back during their time together in Turin, Juve have today released the below video, to perhaps explain the origin of their on-pitch relationship. http://markting10.nl/

Despite a difficult start to life in Serie A, he has now flourished with nine goals in 19 Serie A games and two in five Champions League appearances. http://markting10.nl/ Now Spanish site Futbol Finanzas has performed an evaluation of the player’s transfer value, putting a tag of €37m on the 28-year-old. That would give a huge boost to Juve’s financial records when listing their assets.

AMAZONIAN The 32-year-old Azzurri international has been plagued by tendon injuries in recent times but, speaking to tuttojuve.com, his agent insisted that a new deal to keep the player with the Old Lady may not be far off. “We are in discussions,” Orlandini said. “Soon we could reach an agreement.” The agent has however admitted to not knowing exactly when his client will return to action. AMAZONIAN “I’m not sure when he’ll be back to full fitness,” he remarked. “I don’t have a crystal ball, we are assessing it every so often. AMAZONIAN “The problem he is suffering from at the moment is different to the one he has had previously with his tendons. “At the moment he is looking to overcome a muscular injury and it is not linked to his previous problems.”

VERONA - JUVENTUS February 9, 2014 - 3:00 PM Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium — Verona Referee: Daniele Doveri ‘I know Osvaldo well’ Feb 6, 2014 Verona’s new signing Ivan Pillud is hoping for a debut this weekend against former teammate Dani Osvaldo. http://markting10.nl/ Full-back Pillud signed for Hellas in the January transfer window and could be in line for a first appearance in Week 23’s home test to Juve. It is a match that could pit the 27-year-old Argentine up against former Espanyol teammate Osvaldo, who is seen as likely to play some part on Sunday. “I have always followed Serie A, it is beautiful and wide-ranging,” Pillud has reflected in his presentation this week. http://markting10.nl/ “I hope to come up against Osvaldo, he and I were teammates and I know him well. “Verona? I know I have come to an important team, this is a very significant opportunity for me and I hope to make the most of it. “I am happy to be here, the talks were quick and easy, there were never any problems.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

Moggi: Inter are back to their pre-Calciopoli level The 76-year-old has taken aim at the Giuseppe Meazza side following their disappointing performances in recent seasons. Feb 5, 2014 Former Juventus director Luciano Moggi feels Inter are back to the same level they were at before Calciopoli changed the landscape of Italian football in 2006. http://markting10.nl/ The match-fixing scandal effectively signalled the start of Inter's dominance as the Nerazzurri won four consecutive Serie A titles between 2007 and 2010, while the Bianconeri struggled to challenge for major honours after they were relegated to Serie B in 2006. Nevertheless, Juventus have dethroned Inter as the dominant force in Italian football again and Moggi feels Inter cannot be considered a top team any more in the wake of their 3-1 defeat at the weekend. "Matches between Inter and Juventus can no longer be called the Derby d'Italia. It's offensive," Moggi told reporters. http://markting10.nl/ "This name was apt because at the time Juventus and Inter were the best teams around in Italy. At the moment, there's only Juventus, though. "Inter, however, have lost the advantage that they had after Calciopoli. They are trailing Juventus by 26 points at the moment. They are back to their usual pre-Calciopoli level." Juventus currently sit atop of Serie A with 59 points from 22 games, while Inter have to settle for sixth spot in the table.

Juve to announce Pirlo extension? Feb 5, 2014 An announcement will be made in the next few days that will confirm Andrea Pirlo’s stay at Juventus until 2016, it is reported. http://markting10.nl/ With his contract at the Bianconeri to end in the summer, there had been fears that the veteran midfielder would leave the club on a free at the end of the season. Tottenham and Inter had both been linked with moves for the World Cup-winner, however, Corriere dello Sport claim this morning that the Turin outfit will reveal, before the end of the week, that the 35-year-old will stay until 2016. http://markting10.nl/ Even in the autumn of his career, Juve have had no qualms about offering Pirlo and extension that will see him stick with the club until his 37th birthday.

VERONA - JUVENTUS February 9, 2014 - 3:00 PM Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium — Verona Referee: Daniele Doveri 'Verona won't fear Juventus' Feb 4, 2014 Michelangelo Albertazzi says that he and his Verona teammates won’t have fear when they face Juventus next weekend. http://markting10.nl/ The League’s surprise package returned to winning ways in Week 22 with a 2-1 result away to Sassuolo. With a home test to the League leaders on the horizon for next weekend, defender Albertazzi has considered the importance of that win at Mapei. “We are playing great, we are all happy in the dressing room,” the 23-year-old considered on TeleArena this week. http://markting10.nl/ “We went into the weekend from three consecutive defeats - perhaps against Milan we had deserved more. “We did well to recover and on Sunday we picked up a major victory, especially as we responded in the second half, where the Coach had urged us to push more and increase the pace. http://markting10.nl/ “On Sunday we had to start picking up points again, for us and for our environment. We should not fear anyone, including Juventus, who we face next Sunday. “They are having a great season, but we will have neither fear nor dread and we will head into the field aware of our own value. Only in this way will we stop them.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

VERONA - JUVENTUS February 9, 2014 - 3:00 PM Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium — Verona Referee: Daniele Doveri ‘Would be great to beat Juve’ Feb 4, 2014 Vangelis Moras has mused on Verona’s continued form and admitted that ‘it would be wonderful’ to beat Juventus in Week 23. http://markting10.nl/ The Gialloblu returned to winning ways in Week 22 with a 2-1 success at Sassuolo, to move back up to fifth in the table, ahead of a home test next weekend against leaders Juve. “We are calm, the ultimate goal is near and we must now aim to manage our games well, as we did against Sassuolo,” Moras has considered this week on TeleNuovo. “Coach Andrea Mandorlini always wants to win from the first minute, it is us in the field that do what he asks. We try to always work hard and take the opportunities that come to us. http://markting10.nl/ “What’s our secret this season? To win it takes a little luck and skill to make the most of the two or three useful chances that can present themselves to you. “It is clear that we would like to beat a team like Juventus, we will try, it would be wonderful.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

Chiellini: Inter owner messed with Guarin & Vucinic The centre-back, who helped Juventus beat the Nerazzurri on Sunday, was highly critical of Erick Thohir for cancelling the swap deal at the last minute. Feb 4, 2014 Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has launched a stinging criticism of Inter owner Erick Thohir for pulling the plug on the swap deal involving Fredy Guarin and Mirko Vucinic in January. AMAZONIAN Guarin was set to go to the Scudetto holders with Juve striker Vucinic going the other way, but the San Siro side chose not to go ahead with the deal due to fan protestations despite the clubs having reached an agreement. Chiellini, who scored the second goal in the Bianconeri's 3-1 win at home to the Nerazzurri on Sunday, wished Inter's Colombian attacker all the best and hit out at Thohir for the way he handled the scrapped transfer. AMAZONIAN "I wish the best to Inter and especially Guarin," the Italy international, 29, told Sportmediaset. "Guarin, along with Vucinic, was the victim in a surreal situation where he [Thohir] toyed a bit too much with the lives of two men."

JUVENTUS 3 - 1 INTER Stephan Lichtsteiner (16′) Giorgio Chiellini (47′) Arturo Vidal (56′) Rolando 72′ February 2, 2014 - 8:45 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Gianluca Rocchi Attendance: 38000 Chiellini: Juventus showed true mettle The Italy international felt the reigning champions were back to their usual best and was pleased with his goal. Feb 3, 2014 Giorgio Chiellini feels Juventus showed what they are made of in Sunday's 3-1 Serie A win over Inter after their disappointing performance against Lazio last week. http://markting10.nl/ The Old Lady had to settle for a 1-1 draw in their last league encounter, but bounced back with an impressive home-win over the Nerazzurri in Sunday's Derby d'Italia. "We wanted to get back on track following our draw against Lazio and immediately handled the game in the right manner. It was a true Juve performance," Chiellini told reporters. The Italy international was pleased with his goal as he made it 2-0 shortly after the break, yet stressed that Juventus should not have allowed Inter back in the game late in the second half. http://markting10.nl/ "My goal gave us a bit of breathing space and it's always pleasing to score against Inter in such an important match. "Inter's goal needs to serve as a lesson. It's not the first time we've run the risk of allowing opponents a way back into games we’ve already all but won and that can’t happen again in the future." Juventus hold a nine-point lead over Roma in Serie A, but the Giallorossi have a game in hand. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

JUVENTUS 3 - 1 INTER Stephan Lichtsteiner (16′) Giorgio Chiellini (47′) Arturo Vidal (56′) Rolando 72′ February 2, 2014 - 8:45 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Gianluca Rocchi Attendance: 38000 Conte: Inter lucky to avoid mauling The Italian believes the Giuseppe Meazza side should be grateful for their goalkeeper keeping the score down. Feb 3, 2014 Antonio Conte feels that Juventus could easily have beaten Inter by a bigger margin than 3-1 in Sunday's Serie A encounter. http://markting10.nl/ Goals from Stephan Lichtsteiner, Giorgio Chiellini and Arturo Vidal gifted Juventus a three-goal lead before Rolando pegged one back for the visitors and Conte believes the Nerazzurri had goalkeeper Samir Handanovic to thank that things did not end worse for them. "We’re the league’s top scorers and could have netted more than three tonight. Handanovic did very well in certain situations," the Bianconeri coach said at a press conference. "I’ve always wanted for my teams to play on the front foot. It’s always better to play attacking football than sit back with men behind the ball. http://markting10.nl/ "We prepared every minute detail in the build-up to the game and I’m happy with the overall performance put in by the players. Credit to them, they did well. "It’s a pity about the goal we conceded, which gave us a few anxious moments towards the end. We need to keep the tension high all the way through until the end, all it takes is a fortuitous goal to open things up again." Juventus currently lead the Serie A table with 59 points from 22 games. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

JUVENTUS 3 - 1 INTER Stephan Lichtsteiner (16′) Giorgio Chiellini (47′) Arturo Vidal (56′) Rolando 72′ February 2, 2014 - 8:45 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Gianluca Rocchi Attendance: 38000 Pirlo makes everything easy, says Lichtsteiner The right-back was full of praise for his team-mate after Sunday's victory over Inter, while he stressed that the Old Lady are gunning for European success. Feb 3, 2014 Stephan Lichtsteiner has hailed Andrea Pirlo in the wake of Juventus' 3-1 Serie A win over Inter on Sunday evening and stressed that the playmaker makes life easy for his team-mates with his intricate passing. http://markting10.nl/ The Switzerland international opened the scoring early in the first half after being set up by Pirlo and he was grateful to the midfielder for his fine assist. "I have to thank Andrea, who laid it on a plate for me. With his assists, everything becomes much easier," Lichtsteiner told the official club website. "I’m happy because it had been a while since I’d scored like that. In the heat of the moment, I didn’t think about whether to control or strike it straight away, I just acted instinctively." http://markting10.nl/ Lichtsteiner stressed Inter were no pushovers before adding that Juventus have set their sights on European success this term. "Inter are in a bit of difficulty, but they’re always tough opposition," he continued. "We played at a high tempo, only dropping towards the end, but with a 3-0 lead that was understandable. http://markting10.nl/ "We want to go on to big things in Europe, too. Everyone views us as favourites, but we know it won’t be easy. We’ll do our best, we’ve got no intentions of letting up in any competition." JUVENTUS 3 - 1 INTER Stephan Lichtsteiner (16′) Giorgio Chiellini (47′) Arturo Vidal (56′) Rolando 72′ February 2, 2014 - 8:45 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Gianluca Rocchi Attendance: 38000 Inter have a lot to learn, admits Mazzarri The Nerazzurri coach says they are not at the desired level yet and was frustrated with the way they conceded two goals in their 3-1 defeat to Juventus. Feb 3, 2014 Walter Mazzarri has admitted that Inter still have a lot to learn after they were swept aside by Juventus in Sunday evening's Serie A encounter in Turin. http://markting10.nl/ Goals from Stephan Lichtsteiner, Giorgio Chiellini and Arturo Vidal helped Juventus to a three-goal lead before Rolando pulled one back. Mazzarri was quick to acknowledge that Inter simply made too many mistakes. "We have to keep working on our mistakes. We've got a lot to learn. We're playing football and have the right tactical approach and I'm trying to help the younger lads develop," Mazzarri stated at a press conference. http://markting10.nl/ "It's a year of growth, of assessments. We were missing some important players today, too. We need a win so that we can turn things around." The Inter coach then voiced his frustration with the way his side gave away the game as they conceded two sloppy goals. http://markting10.nl/ "I'm sorry about the way we conceded the second and third goals. It's annoying because at 1-0 we were still in the game. We hadn't given much away up until then," he continued. "I knew that the fierce pressing game Juve played in the opening stages would wane in the second half. But we conceded a sloppy second goal, a loose ball that we failed to hoof clear." http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

Juve’s contract renewal plan Feb 3, 2014 The giornalaccio rosa dello Sport suggest that February will see Juventus begin to work through a number of players’ contract renewals. http://markting10.nl/ Whilst Andrea Pirlo is see as all but signed off on a two-year extension to commit to the Bianconeri beyond this summer, the pink paper have listed a number of others in the squad set to open similar talks. Reserve goalkeeper Marco Storari is out of contract in June, with it seen that a new deal is very much on his determination, with the club listing a number of alternatives in his position should he opt to leave. Andrea Barzagli is seen as with a draft agreement to extend for one year already in place, whilst extensions for Giorgio Chiellini and Stephan Lichtsteiner to June 2017 are also seen as without obstacles. http://markting10.nl/ Paul Pogba remains a priority to renew, whilst Claudio Marchisio’s situation will also reportedly be evaluated, as well as Sebastian Giovinco. The latter’s current deal expires in June 2015, as do those of Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella, so uncertainty on this trio remains. Whilst Antonio Conte’s contract also runs through to June 2015, Juve are seen as keen to extend that.

JUVENTUS 3 - 1 INTER Stephan Lichtsteiner (16′) Giorgio Chiellini (47′) Arturo Vidal (56′) Rolando 72′ February 2, 2014 - 8:45 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Gianluca Rocchi Attendance: 38000 ‘Juve stronger in three ways’ Feb 3, 2014 Gianluca Vialli believes that Inter yesterday were inferior to Juventus ‘physically, technically and intellectually’. http://markting10.nl/ The Old Lady picked up a relatively comfortable 3-1 win over the Nerazzurri in Week 22’s Derby d’Italia, to leave Sky Sport Italia pundit Vialli in no doubt about where the gaps between the two sides lie. “I did not expect Inter to win this match, but that they would play better, yes,” mused the retired striker post-match. “I think they have been inferior from a physical point of view, because Juventus always arrived first to the ball, they had a rate much higher than that of Inter. http://markting10.nl/ “Also from a technical point of view, and also from the intellectual point of view - Inter had no ideas for up to 75 minutes. “I do not want to exaggerate, though, because they are a team still under construction, but Pirlo was left too free to set up play and obviously the tactics did not work. “There was too little pressure on Juve’s defence when they looked to come out with the ball and there was almost nothing in attack, there was not enough.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

JUVENTUS 3 - 1 INTER Stephan Lichtsteiner (16′) Giorgio Chiellini (47′) Arturo Vidal (56′) Rolando 72′ February 2, 2014 - 8:45 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Gianluca Rocchi Attendance: 38000 ‘Inter were in disarray’ Feb 3, 2014 Former Inter and Juventus forward Roberto Boninsegna has cast his eye over yesterday evening’s proceedings: “Inter were in disarray.” http://markting10.nl/ Week 22’s Derby d’Italia saw the Old Lady run out 3-1 victors at home to the Nerazzurri, watching by Boninsegna, who during his playing career had seven years with Inter and three with Juve. “That is a very strong Juventus and there is nothing to say, but yesterday I saw an Inter in disarray,” the 70-year-old has considered to reporters today. “This, however, does not detract from the merits of the Bianconeri, who have led Serie A for the past three years. http://markting10.nl/ “Of course, to see the Nerazzurri in this state does hurt, they are a team in shambles and to understand the situation we must see it from the inside. “The difficulties began a few days ago, with the Guarin-Vucinic exchange that did not go through, due to the protest of the Inter fans, which demonstrated the power of the supporters. “There were also tactical mistakes yesterday, just look at the goal for Lichtsteiner - Kovacic was on him and Pirlo was guiltily left alone. The table is clear, Inter at the moment are out of reach of all objectives. http://markting10.nl/ “Mazzarri? It is logical that the Coach should assume responsibility in moments like this, but it seems too soon to speak of his sacking.” The former striker was asked about Juve’s decision to pick up Dani Osvaldo despite not seeing one of Mirko Vucinic, Fabio Quagliarella or Sebastian Giovinco leave. http://markting10.nl/ “Sometimes abundance can cause problems and I do not think that Osvaldo has come to be on the bench. “Six strikers is a lot and maybe someone should have left. Now Conte will have to be good in handling this situation.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

JUVENTUS 3 - 1 INTER Stephan Lichtsteiner (16′) Giorgio Chiellini (47′) Arturo Vidal (56′) Rolando 72′ February 2, 2014 - 8:45 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Gianluca Rocchi Attendance: 38000 Mazzarri: 'Kovacic was on Pirlo' Feb 2, 2014 Walter Mazzarri was very critical of Mateo Kovacic and Inter’s general “sluggishness” after a 3-1 defeat to Juventus. http://markting10.nl/ “I was annoyed at the way we conceded the second goal, as we had the opportunities to clear it and were too sluggish. Juventus were quicker to the ball, more aggressive and that made the difference,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “We need to focus on every little detail with great determination, the way Juventus do. When the going gets tough, they get going. Juve were more determined and aggressive, whereas we were sluggish and lazy. “We created chances and let’s not forget Rodrigo Palacio twice could’ve made it 3-2 to end with a siege on their goal.” http://markting10.nl/ Inter are without a single victory in 2014, earning two draws and four defeats between Serie A and Coppa Italia. “Unfortunately, we have a lot to learn, but I have faith we’ve got the right attitude, tactical approach and the younger players are growing. It’s just a shame the results aren’t coming. “As I said, it’s a year of growth and evaluation, today we were missing important players. We just need a victory to turn the tide, that’s all.” http://markting10.nl/ Andrea Pirlo appeared to run the show, especially in the first half, but Mazzarri implied the tactics prepared did not work because of Kovacic. “This game was very simple tactically, as there were duels all over the pitch. In those situations the players most accustomed to being at the top and to winning will win the duels. “I saw the possession almost equal, so it wasn’t dominated by Juventus, but the details do make the difference in these games. http://markting10.nl/ “I thought Kovacic was in the ideal position to play brilliantly, as he’d have more space when going deeper. We knew he had quality. “After Ruben Botta came in, Pirlo wasn’t quite so free. There was meant to be someone on him, Kovacic, and that person didn’t go enough, so he’d get stuck in-between and leave us a man down in midfield.” The Nerazzurri also struggled in defence, so was asked whether Walter Samuel, Andrea Ranocchia and Javier Zanetti could do better than Hugo Campagnaro, Rolando and Juan Jesus. http://markting10.nl/ “If Samuel, Ranocchia and Zanetti are in top form, then yes, they are probably better than the three who played tonight, but I have to take everything into account. “Rolando has been a revelation recently, playing very well indeed. Campagnaro is a guarantee and Juan Jesus is a young player who can become one of the best defenders in Europe if he keeps learning every day. “When it’s a work in progress, there are some players who aren’t sure whether they can stay or go, so a Coach has to take it all into account. Tonight I was without Hernanes, Cambiasso and Guarin.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

JUVENTUS 3 - 1 INTER Stephan Lichtsteiner (16′) Giorgio Chiellini (47′) Arturo Vidal (56′) Rolando 72′ February 2, 2014 - 8:45 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Gianluca Rocchi Attendance: 38000 Conte: 'Juve always attack' Feb 2, 2014 Antonio Conte praised Juventus for their “attacking mentality” against Inter and explained how Daniel Osvaldo will help. http://markting10.nl/ Stephan Lichtsteiner, Arturo Vidal and Giorgio Chiellini were on target in a 3-1 Derby d’Italia victory this evening. “We won. That’s good. We prepared this game in every minute detail, including how they might mark Andrea Pirlo or not mark him by bringing Mateo Kovacic and Ricky Alvarez on him in turns,” Conte told Sky Sport Italia. “We played well and it’s just a shame we conceded that goal which created a bit of anxiety. People ask why I continue waving my arms like crazy on the touchline, it’s because I know it just takes one moment of fortune to score and the game is open again when the tension sets in. http://markting10.nl/ “We are the top scorers in Serie A, but could’ve had more goals tonight. Samir Handanovic did very well on several occasions and we weren’t as accurate as we could’ve been, but I was more interested in the performance and I’m happy with that.” Sky pundit Gianluca Vialli joked that Vidal, Paul Pogba and Claudio Marchisio score so many goals because Conte can teach them the tricks of the trade. “As a player I did like this role and going forward to replace the striker. That attacking bent was always in my mentality as a player and now as a Coach, as I always wanted to take the initiative. I say it’s better to lose a game by attacking – as we could’ve done at Lazio last week – than to draw while sitting behind the ball. http://markting10.nl/ “As a player I won five Scudetti, the Champions League and everything there was to win, so I can only wish they follow me and do even better. “It’s rare we go on the counter-attack, as we don’t have players with those characteristics. We study our opponents and how to limit their strengths, but still maintain our own strong points. “When attacking, our wingers go on the same level as the strikers. A 3-5-2 is variable and all down to the interpretation. There are others who use this system in a more defensive way and to go on the counter, but that’s not our style.” http://markting10.nl/ Osvaldo was signed on deadline day from Southampton, arriving on a free loan with option to buy for €19m. “Osvaldo was an opportunity that we took, as the striker desperately wanted Juventus and cut so much off his wages. We are happy to have a player who improves our quality in attack, as we have Serie A and the Europa League to challenge for. “There were some very well-defined hierarchies and some others who had been here a long time and perhaps needed a little competition to renew their enthusiasm. It was positive to know players wanted Juve so much that they’d reduce their wages to help it happen.” http://markting10.nl/ Fredy Guarin was about to arrive at Juve in exchange for Mirko Vucinic, but Inter pulled the plug. “Guarin was an opportunity too that had been created between the clubs. I didn’t make any specific requests, but if the opportunities arise on the market then we’d take them. It all stopped and we’re happy as we are now.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
