Because why the hell not. It's always something that works its way into my head after Juventus play on the European stage. I can't help it. It's there, setting up shop when I should be totally happy that Juve are sitting second in their Champions League and atop the Serie A standings. But noooooo, Mr. Negative is thinking about what could go wrong rather than what could go right. In all seriousness, though, Juventus had a pretty uneventful return to league play after their 2-2 draw against Real Madrid at the end of October. So if they'd like to record another win like they did the last time around, that'd be cool. 2. The ability to keep the train rolling. The month of November treated Juventus quite well, I must say. The Fiorentina meltdown has turned out to be an absolute blessing in disguise. Why? Since that second-half disaster in Florence, Juve hasn't allowed a goal in Serie A. And, it's not surprising that they've won every game because of the much more favorable goal differential the past month. Well, because of other stuff, too, but the defense getting their act together is something that has helped this squad get back to what they do best — win games. With all the injuries and suspensions Juve have had to deal with as of late, one of the benefits is that Caceres has gotten a lot of playing time because of it. He's certainly taken advantage of his recent opportunities, too, whether it has been as a right back in a 4-3-3 or as a member of the backline in a 3-5-2. He's always been a versatile player, and the last couple of weeks is just further confirmation of it. And while Lichtsteiner has been called up for the first time in nearly two months, throwing him back into the fire is something not many people are suggesting. That could very well mean Caceres gets to play as a right wingback for the first time in long time. Considering my approval of high-socked Uruguayans, I'd be perfectly okay with No. 4 getting some more playing time this weekend. 4. Which Udinese shows up. There hasn't been a lot of winning going on for Udinese recently. Considering the kind of attacking talent they have, there hasn't been a lot of goal scoring going on for Udinese, either. It's not like a team who has been one of the more exciting clubs in Italy the past few seasons to be averaging under a goal a game, let alone one that is so up and down. Juventus has also regained their winning edge since that shock loss to Fiorentina and have won each of their last five league matches – without conceding a single goal. Their strong of run has in turn brought more pressure on AS Roma who has failed to win in three consecutive games to surrender the top position for the first time this season. With Roma facing a potentially tricky trip to Atalanta Juventus will be looking to get all three points against Udinese to consolidate their position. Gianluigi Buffon played his 500th Serie A game against Livorno last week and fittingly kept a clean sheet. The veteran custodian had got some degree of flak for his shaky performances when the season started but has returned to his best in last one month. With Andrea Barzagli still out injured, Martin Caceres is likely to occupy the right central defender spot in Juve’s three man back-line. http://markting10.nl/ Lichtsteiner is still out injured along with Mauricio Isla which means that Simone Padoin will start on the right-flank of the five man midfield. Kwadwo Asamoah’s suspension will see Paolo De Ceglie start on opposite flank. Juve’s wing-backs is likely to be a weak point in this match as Padoin is a mediocre player while De Ceglie has played very little this season. The midfield of Vidal-Pirlo and Paul Pogba has dazzled during Juve’s winning run and it is likely that the three players will start together once again. However, given their mid-week exertions, Claudio Marchisio will make a sub appearance in second half. Fernando Llorente is finally looking like the player who was one of the best strikers in La Liga two years back. Against Livorno the Spaniard opened the scoring with a well taken opening goal before teeing off Carlos Tevez for the second one. Udinese’s yet again newly assembled team is struggling for form so far and is currently placed just outside the top-10 with faint chance of getting into European slots. The Friuli based side has won just five times in 13 matches but their away form is even worse. Udinese has lost five out of six games on the road and their only victory came against basement boys Sassuolo. A hard fought win against Fiorentina last weekend ended Udinese’s losing streak in November which stretched for two games. http://markting10.nl/ Udinese coach Guidolin is essentially one who fields a 3-5-2 but the last game saw him change to a four man back-line. After getting a favourable result with the new formation, Guidolin is likely to retain it in Juventus stadium, given that his team are likely to play defensively and will try to hit Juve on counters. Danilo has been playing reasonably well this season and a lot with depend on the Brazilian when comes up against an in-form Fernando Llorente. Veteran Maurizio Domizzi may start along side Danilo and can prove to be a chink in the armour for Udinese. Domizzi has not started regularly this season and often seems to struggle against players with speed. Another Brazilian, left sided midfielder Gabriel Silva has played surprisingly well in his new role as a left-back. Silva will be looking to stretch Padoin on Juve’s right side with his pace and darting runs. http://markting10.nl/ With a passing % of 86.5% Allan Marques is one of the main creative outlets for Udinese and a lot may depend on how he deals with the strong Juventus central midfield. Neither Dusan Basta nor are particularly imaginative players and should Juventus manage to shut Allan down successfully, it is likely that Udinese will struggle to get forward with their narrow formation. Roberto Pereyra is Udinese’s highest assist maker with a couple of assists against his name and is likely to play in the hole behind their two strikers. Age finally seems to be catching up with Antonio Di Natale whose performances have lacked their familiar venom so far. Di Natale no longer has his pace but made full use of his short burst of acceleration. However, absence of Luis Muriel’s youthful energy means Di Natale has to work harder and this has affected his overall performance.
