Wojciech Szczesny remains with the Poland national team despite injury Wojciech Szczesny, who missed Juventus’ last two matches due to injury, is expected to make his return after the current international break. However, despite his injury status, he was included in the Poland squad for their latest international fixtures and has joined the national team for training. It’s not uncommon for injured players to report to their national teams and then return to their clubs after being evaluated by their national team medical staff. In Szczesny’s case, he is still with the Poland squad, and it remains uncertain whether he will participate in their upcoming matches. ...... Juventus has started the season with two wins and no losses in their first three matches, suggesting they are a formidable force. Nonetheless, Capello believes that Juve is still lacking something from their game. “Juve is still a hybrid. This team lacks a bit of personality and a bit of quality. Yesterday, with Pogba and Rabiot on the pitch, we saw something more”. ..... Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/capello-insists-juventus-lacking-in-certain-areas/

Danilo: ‘Goal dedicated to Juventus legend Scirea’ Juventus captain Danilo concedes returning to Empoli brought back memories of last season’s off the field problems and reveals his very special goal dedication for Gaetano Scirea. The Bianconeri grabbed a 2-0 victory at the Stadio Castellani this evening, with the deadlock broken by Danilo prodding the ball through a sea of legs on a corner. Dusan Vlahovic then saw a penalty saved by Etrit Berisha, before Federico Chiesa ran from his own half to seal the 2-0 result. Juve lost 4-1 at Empoli last season, a match affected by the announcement just minutes before kick-off that they had been docked 10 Serie A points for financial irregularities. “I cannot say our thoughts didn’t stray back to last season,” Danilo told DAZN. “That was an ugly defeat, but today we showed hunger and pride, but also good football and tactical organisation, things that can allow us to achieve important results.” ....... It was 34 years ago today that legendary Juve captain Scirea, who wore the same 6 shirt as Danilo, died in a car crash while scouting for the club in Poland. “I wanted to dedicate the goal to Scirea and I will give my jersey to his son Riccardo, who is part of the staff. Scirea was too important a figure in the history of Juventus and I feel immense pride to wear this jersey.” The Juventus social media account later provided the proof he had kept that promise.

Juventus 2 - Empoli 0: Initial reaction and random observations It wasn’t all that pretty for much of the proceedings, but at least Juventus didn’t repeat recent history. As the minutes ticked away in the second half Sunday night in Tuscany and a second goal wasn’t scored by Juventus, I couldn’t help but think “Is this going to come back to bite Juve in the you-know-what?” It was a situation we’ve seen plenty of times over the last two-plus years of Max Allegri’s second tenure (and obviously further back than that), with mixed results coming against teams who Juve had no business allowing a goal to. This season’s version of Empoli, one that entered the weekend having done next to nothing in the final third so far this season. Thankfully, those thoughts were simply left lingering and not ones that came into reality. I guess we can thank Federico Chiesa and his late goal for that. Yes, Juventus had another one-goal lead that shouldn’t have simply been 1-0 for as long as it did, having to watching scoring chances either cleared off due to VAR, a penalty be missed or shots simply be just off the mark. It was a collection of ineffectiveness in the final third for Juventus before Chiesa’s bursting run forward on the counter attack saw him slip past the onrushing Entrit Berisha and curve in a shot from the left side of the box into a wide open goal to wrap up Juve’s 2-0 win. It prevented any drama on the cusp of stoppage time from happening, sending Juve into the first international break of the season with two wins in their first three games and prevented any business like what happened seven days earlier from taking place again. ........ Danilo and Chiesa on target as Juventus cut through Empoli Juventus secured their second win of the season as they emerged victorious over their hosts Empoli at the Carlo Castellani Stadium with two unanswered goals. The Bianconeri were clearly the better side and could have come away with a larger result. Max Allegri adopted his 3-5-2 formation that featured some tweaks, especially on the wings. Weston McKennie and Filip Kostic took over from Andrea Cambiaso and Timothy Weah. Fabio Miretti started in midfield alongside Manuel Locatelli and Adrien Rabiot. Federico Gatti finally earned his starting berth at the back, replacing the disappointing Alex Sandro. Dusan Vlahovic and Federico once again spearheaded the lineup. ..... In the end, Allegri’s men succeeded in adding three points to the tally, raising their total to seven from the first three rounds of the season. Final Score: Empoli-Juventus 0-2 Goals: Danilo 24′ (J), Chiesa 82 (J) Juventus (3-5-2): Perin; Gatti, Bremer, Danilo; McKennie (Weah), Miretti (Pogba), Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic (Cambiaso); Chiesa (Kean), Vlahovic (Milik) Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/danilo-and-chiesa-on-target-as-juventus-cut-through-empoli/

Allegri: ‘Juventus cannot be Scudetto favourites’ Max Allegri reveals a new Paul Pogba injury worry after Juventus beat Empoli, explains his changes in personnel and approach, but insists ‘you cannot say we are Scudetto favourites.’ The Bianconeri had a point to prove after last week’s controversial 1-1 draw with Bologna, so Allegri made more changes to the starting XI. They paid off, as Danilo fired in after a corner was not cleared effectively, then Federico Chiesa made it 2-0 late on with a sprint from his own half. There could easily have been more too, because Danilo and Paul Pogba had goals disallowed, while Arkadiusz Milik and Moise Kean hit the woodwork. ....... “It was a good performance against an Empoli side that is not easy to play against. We allowed practically nothing at the back, but need to be calmer in the final third or with the final ball, as we were a bit too frenetic. These are things we will improve as time goes on.” ..... “Nobody likes being outside of the Champions League. We finished third in the table, so it’s easy to say that Juve failed last season, but without the points penalty we were third. There are teams out there better equipped to win the Scudetto, such as Inter, Napoli and Milan. We must do well to stay as close to them as possible and finish in the top four. Juventus Player Ratings vs Empoli: Danilo & Chiesa Lead The Way Juventus (3-5-2) Mattia Perin – 5.5 The custodian didn’t have a single save to make. But fumbled a pass in the second half which could have cost Juventus dearly. Federico Gatti – 7 An impressive display at the back from the former Frosinone man who kept Cambiaghi at bay. He cleverly won the spot kick that Vlahovic wasted. Gleison Bremer – 6.5 A commanding performance from the Brazilian defender who nullified Ciccio Caputo and won almost every aerial duel. Wrestled his marker off the ball to set up Danilo’s goal. Danilo – 7.5 Another fine outing from the Juventus captain who opened the scoring with a well-taken low drive. Put on a solid showing at the back too against Tommaso Baldanzi. Weston McKennie – 6 A hard-working display from the American who did well to retrieve the ball. However, he was wasteful in possession. Fabio Miretti – 6.5 An encouraging display from the young midfielder who won some duels and drew several fouls from the opposition. But he still has to sharpen his touch. Hooked off for Pogba at the hour mark. Manuel Locatelli – 6 As always, the former Sassuolo man did well to shield his backline. But Juventus supporters will be expecting some improvement when it comes to ball distribution. Adrien Rabiot – 6 The Frenchman helped the Bianconeri boss the middle of the park, but his technical touch remains off the mark compared to last season. Filip Kostic – 5.5 The left winger made his first Juventus appearance of the season but seemed to lack sharpness. Worked hard to retrieve the ball, but his delivery wasn’t on cue as usual. Federico Chiesa – 7.5 The Euro 2020 winner wasted two one-on-one chances against Berisha including one that he created himself. But it was third time’s the charm for the Italian who skipped past the goalkeeper and was barely able to keep his footing before slotting the ball inside the empty net. Dusan Vlahovic – 5.5 The former Fiorentina man worked hard for the team but wasn’t provided with sufficient service. Etrit Berisha denied him from the spot as his effort was slightly feeble. Substitutes Paul Pogba – 6.5 The Frenchman is noticeably short on fitness, but still has the magical touch as demonstrated by a fabulous volley goal that was disallowed for a previous offside position. Arkadiusz Milik – 7 A brilliant cameo from the Polish striker who provided a sublime assist for Chiesa and almost scored a header but it rattled the woodwork. Andrea Cambiaso – 6.5 The Italian proved to be an obvious improvement on Kostic. Productive on the left flank. Moise Kean – 6.5 A positive short cameo from the Italian striker who helped in creating plays. He was unlucky to see his shot denied by the post. Empoli 0-2 Juventus: Danilo and Chiesa back on track Danilo on a chaotic corner and Federico Chiesa after a sprint from his own half gave Juventus victory in Empoli, despite Etrit Berisha saving the Dusan Vlahovic penalty. The Bianconeri made several changes after the controversial 1-1 draw with Bologna, still missing Wojciech Szczesny and Mattia De Sciglio. Empoli had lost both matches without finding the net, with Elia Caprile and Daniel Maldini injured, so Berisha made his debut in goal. Dusan Vlahovic tested Berisha early on with a snapshot and Danilo had the ball in the net on 11 minutes, but he had also fouled the goalkeeper. Vlahovic’s header swung just wide from a Fabio Miretti assist, but Juve did score eventually from a chaotic corner that pinballed around in the box until Danilo fired in from eight yards. McKennie had an effort charged down and Berisha took the sting out of a sudden Filip Kostic strike, but Juve were awarded a penalty when Federico Gatti was fouled by Yousef Maleh. Vlahovic stepped up, but saw his spot-kick saved by Berisha on the goalkeeper’s Empoli debut. ...... Paul Pogba thought he had scored with a splendid volley, but Vlahovic was clearly offside when making the assist. Just as Empoli were pouring forward, they were caught out on the counter. Arkadiusz Milik’s give and go sent Chiesa sprinting clear on goal from the centre-circle, he was caught by the on-rushing Berisha, but got back on his feet after the stumble to finish into an empty net. .... Empoli rejected Baldanzi offers from Juventus and Fiorentina Empoli resisted serious pressure for Tommaso Baldanzi this summer, rejecting serious offers from both Juventus and Fiorentina. The 20-year-old Italian midfielder exploded onto the scene with the Tuscan side last season, earning plaudits for his impressive debut campaign in Serie A, where he scored four goals in 1788 minutes of action across 26 league games. Baldanzi also shined at the Under-20 World Cup, scoring two goals and providing two assists on Italy’s run to the final, attracting attention from a number of clubs across Serie A. ...... The Tuscan side instantly rejected offers worth around €15m, not wanting to lose the 20-year-old Italian midfielder just yet. Esattamente.

Gatti set for first Juventus start after Sandro’s struggle against Bologna Federico Gatti has faced challenges in securing playing time at Juventus this season, as Max Allegri has favoured a back-three consisting of Gleison Bremer, Danilo, and Alex Sandro. The Brazilian trio has performed well, and the club has shown faith in their abilities, which has limited Gatti’s opportunities in the starting lineup. ..... Gatti may have a chance to return to the starting lineup in the next game. This possibility arises from Sandro’s struggles against Bologna’s attack, which may prompt Allegri to make some changes to the team, including the potential inclusion of Gatti in the starting XI. Saudi Arabia keeps pushing to sign Juventus star Paul Pogba continues to be a player of interest for clubs in Saudi Arabia as he returns to full fitness.
