Marotta: 'Inter are Juve's rivals'

http://www.football-italia.net/70710/marotta-inter-are-juves-rivals?

Aug 7, 2015

Director General Giuseppe Marotta reveals that Juventus are 'looking for a midfielder' and recognises Inter as 'absolutely a competitor for the Scudetto'.

There is a frenzy of attention around Juventus as the kick-off for the Supercup final against Lazio is now less than 24 hours away.

Captain Gianluigi Buffon said patience would be required to win the game, but Marotta sees the question of drive as more crucial.

“Juventus have patience, sure, but the drive to win always expresses itself in the immediate future,” he said.

“This is an official appointment and a trophy we care about.

“So we necessarily have to win it, regardless of the fact that we may have changed some of our points of reference.”

Marotta was then asked whether Juventus had already pretty much closed their mercato, or whether another step was being prepared.

“We're looking for a midfielder. He doesn't necessarily have to be unique, but his profile must be of the right calibre to play with Juventus.

“Gotze and Draxler? We probed for them, but we never got to the real negotiations.

“Our rivals? I'm impressed with Inter. Considering their investments, they should absolutely be considered an authoritative competitor for the Scudetto.”

Marotta: 'Juve fear Milan and Inter'

http://www.football-italia.net/70724/marotta-juve-fear-milan-and-inter?

Aug 8, 2015

Beppe Marotta confirms Juventus “rejected offers above €80m for Paul Pogba” and snubs Edin Dzeko. “Milan and Inter are Scudetto favourites.”

The director spoke to La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport ahead of today’s Italian Super Cup against Lazio, kicking off at 13.00 UK time (12.00 GMT) in Shanghai.

The Bianconeri have been looking for a trequartista, a player who traditionally wears the Number 10 jersey, but surprisingly handed that shirt to Paul Pogba.

“Pogba asked for the Number 10 shirt, remembering the big Juve players from when he was a child. We thought that yes, he does represent the unique aura of that jersey.

“Modern football has revamped the concept of a 10. We are still missing a midfielder who can cover various positions and it’s a small group to choose from, as few are Juve quality.

“We have three weeks and the Super Cup to get the first responses of this season, then we’ll see. Max Allegri is a modern and versatile Coach, so if there is a new arrival, he will adapt his tactics to their characteristics.”

After three consecutive Scudetti, Juve released Carlos Tevez, Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal.

“We are optimistic for this season, but the truth is we changed three players and must cover that gap with renewed motivation,” continued Marotta.

“Juve also realised an era was coming to an end and brought down the average age of the squad. Paulo Dybala, Simone Zaza, Daniele Rugani, Stefano Sturaro and Roberto Pereyra bode well. If the results arrive, we’ll be a long-term squad already built.

“Those who left made personal decisions. Tevez made a lifestyle choice, it was a unique opportunity for Pirlo and also Vidal. The Chilean was happy with us, but could enjoy a new experience with a four-year contract.

“We are not a club who can afford €70m buys, but I say with pride that we refused offers above €80m for Pogba. We only sell those who want to leave.”

Inter and Milan have spent big on the transfer market this summer, while they also don’t have to worry about European competition, so are they the main contenders?

“I was surprised, especially at a time like this. It’s good to invest, though what happens on the field is decisive. Milan and Inter are favourites for the Scudetto because they have invested and have a superior winning mentality compared to the other rivals.”

Roma have bought Mohamed Salah and Dzeko, but Marotta is not concerned.

“We had thought about Dzeko years ago, while Salah was never an objective. We all think Juve are strong and are just missing a midfielder. I won’t name names, though.”

Marotta was asked whether those included Ilkay Gundogan and Palermo’s Franco Vazquez.

“Gundogan has international pedigree, but Vazquez has everything to prove, as so far he’s only played for a provincial club.”

Marotta: ’Serie A balanced’

http://www.football-italia.net/71272/marotta-%E2%80%99serie-balanced%E2%80%99?

Aug 19, 2015

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta admits Serie A will be more ‘balanced’ this year, as other teams strengthen.

The Bianconeri have won four Scudetti in a row, but both Milan clubs have invested heavily in the transfer market, as have Roma.

“It’s obviously premature to start drawing up the table today,” Marotta told JTV.

“However, we’ve noticed there’s been a lot of activity in the transfer market in Italy this year. In particular the Milan clubs have reinforced, while Roma have consolidated, and Napoli and Lazio are always aggressive.

“So I think it’s a balanced League with these teams.”

A number of players, including Alvaro Morata and Claudio Marchisio, will miss the start of the season with injury, but Marotta insists he is not overly concerned.

“Even last year we started without Pirlo, Morata and Barzagli.”

Juventus close to Alex Sandro signing
and abandon Draxler pursuit

The Serie A champions claim a move for the Brazilian could be wrapped up
on Wednesday, but will no longer try to sign the German attacker.

http://www.goal.com/en-za/news/4682/transfer-zone/2015/08/19/14576592/-?

Aug 19, 2015

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta claims the Turin side could wrap up a deal for Porto left-back Alex Sandro by Wednesday evening, but admits the club will drop their pursuit of Schalke's Julian Draxler.

With current left-back Patrice Evra entering the twilight of his career, Alex Sandro is seen as the perfect replacement, though the Bianconeri's wish to sign a new attacking midfielder – the role earmarked for Draxler – remains far from resolved.

“I think we can close a deal for Alex Sandro on Wednesday,” Marotta told reporters.

“We've pretty much abandoned negotiations for Draxler for a number of reasons, but we're still looking for someone to play behind the strikers.

“We've got 10 days to find a player other than Draxler and wrap things up with Alex Sandro.”

Juve had entered negotiations with Schalke over the Germany international, but were unsuccessful in their bid and Marotta admits they do have other options.

"I don't know if Borussia Dortmund would sell Mkhitaryan," he replied. "Ilkay Gundogan was a target, but I don't think it's feasibile.

"Maybe Cuadrado will be on the market. We're looking for someone with different characteristics, but we have 10 days to fill the gap in midfield, so we'll see."

At the very front of Juve's attack, however, the club director is happy with the signings of Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic, who were signed to fill the void left by Carlos Tevez.

“We really wanted to sign both of them,” Marotta went on. “We had to sign players with real quality to replace a talent like Tevez.

“But I think we've done that with these two players.”

Marotta: ‘Juve, injuries no excuse’

http://www.football-italia.net/71327/marotta-%E2%80%98juve-injuries-no-excuse%E2%80%99?

Aug 20, 2015

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta says that injuries will be ‘no excuse’ if the team aren’t competitive next season.

Speaking to Tuttosport, the 58-year-old admitted that teams around the Old Lady had strengthened, but denied any jealousy.

"Our competitors have invested but I have nothing to envy, we are focused on our squad,” he said.

“Juventus has to be a competitive team - there must be no excuses, not even about injuries."

Marotta: ‘Optimistic for Champions League’

http://www.football-italia.net/71683/marotta-%E2%80%98optimistic-champions-league%E2%80%99?

Aug 27, 2015

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta insists the club are ‘optimistic’ for the Champions League.

The Bianconeri were handed arguably the toughest of the eight groups, facing Manchester City, Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach.

“I’m optimistic,” Marotta insisted, speaking to Mediaset after the draw.

“We’re Juventus. We face every opponent in the right way, then we’ll see how it turns out. We know we have to get through to the next round, but there isn’t a weak team in this group.”

Fernando Llorente completed a move from Juve to Sevilla this afternoon, and will face his old employers when the groups get underway.

“That’s the beauty of football. We’ll be pleased to see him, even if we want to win.”

Marotta confirms Hamsik bid

http://www.football-italia.net/72456/marotta-confirms-hamsik-bid?

Sep 2, 2015

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta confirms a Marek Hamsik bid, and stresses the importance of Italian players.

Reports on Monday’s transfer deadline day linked the Bianconeri with a bid for the Napoli man, and Partenopei President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed yesterday that a €25m offer had been rejected.

“Some names have not come out,” Marotta said, speaking about the transfer campaign in a Press conference.

“Maybe you’re not aware of them, big names. Sometimes it goes under the radar. We had contact for Hamsik over a month ago, we spoke to De Laurentiis 10 times.

"Hamsik fits the bill for us, because he’s proven in Italy, and you need to know that you’ve got players who know what it means to go to Carpi or Frosinone and win.

“Foreign players don’t know that. Maybe [Milan CEO Adriano] Galliani says that a team built in August isn’t the same as the one in May, but I think building a team with Italians is an advantage, and something to aim for.”

Marotta also defended the club’s transfer campaign, while admitting the likes of Carlos Tevez and Andrea Pirlo were not easy to replace.

“I thank the people who work with me, like [Fabio] Paratici. We’re happy, we achieved our targets and built a winning team.

“To do better than last season is difficult, because we’d have to win the Champions League along with all the other trophies.

“As for the rest, we’ve seen players leave from last season and previous years, in some cases it wasn’t our will, and these players are not easily replaceable.

“Someone with the characteristics, personality and charisma of Pirlo could strike fear with just his silent gaze, so replacing people like him wasn’t easy.

“I think the club will remain successful, directors and Coaches come and go, but we’ve built a team with an interesting profile, mixing experience and youth.

“I think a team which is entirely built on youth can’t win everything.”

Marotta also had praise for Coach Massimilano Allegri, and believes he will be pivotal to the team’s success this season.

“I think he’ll be crucial,” the director said.

“Not just on the pitch, but the modern role involves managing the squad, transforming the squad into a winning team, giving them the focus and motivation to achieve our goals and focus on elements of their personality.

“The squad is good. Pirlo and Tevez would provide security and certainty which the squad must rediscover not through individuals, but with the team and with unity.”

Marotta: ‘Difficult to deal with Schalke’

http://www.football-italia.net/72457/marotta-%E2%80%98difficult-deal-schalke%E2%80%99?

Sep 2, 2015

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta slams Schalke over the Julian Draxler deal - ‘a very mysterious club’.

The Bianconeri were involved in lengthy negotiations for the German international, who eventually moved to Wolfsburg, much to the chagrin of some Juve fans.

“There’s bitterness because we’ve lost two in a row,” Marotta admitted in a Press conference to present Hernanes and Mario Lemina.

“There’s bitterness and even skepticism and pessimism over what we’ve done. Our culture doesn’t allow us to make excuses, though it’s clear we have to talk about being handicapped slightly this year.

“This year we’re undergoing a metamorphosis, with more players than usual coming in and out, so we needed more time, but we’re Juventus and we have to win.

“On Draxler, I officially pulled out of the running on August 19 at Vilar Perosa. It was difficult to deal with Schalke, a very mysterious club where no-one knew who could talk, so we had difficulty interacting with them.

“We’ve done deals with Manchester City, Bayern Munich and many other clubs, that’s affected how we conduct other deals.

“We knew we wouldn’t reach a conclusion because the asking price was disproportionate, and the player's motivation wasn't at the top.

“The outcome depends on the players, and if the player has doubts then it’s difficult to reach a conclusion.

“Draxler is very young, we want to win again this year, the Coach has to reunite the team and move the team forward, and you need motivation for that.

“I’m not worried about the players, but maybe it’s the first time Juventus has had this kind of [young] squad available, so motivation is important. We have to transfer the winning mentality to those with less experience.

“Confirming a winning team is already like a big signing. When you have offers for players of around €100m, and these offers are coming from top clubs, you can say you’re not budging, but we’re still proud.

“Juventus want to win, so we decided to hold on to a top player like Pogba. As for the rest, a club like Juventus is ambitious, we don’t hide that.

“So, we try to look for targets who are perhaps utopian, to go looking for players who aren’t approachable for many reasons, maybe because they earn too much or cost too much, maybe because they’re happy in their current team.

“I’m not going to name them, because we’re just coming out of this Draxler soap opera, and that will make it even harder.

“We look for youth, while always looking for a major signing. If we don’t get one in a certain year, then he’ll come a year later.”

Juventus: €100m might not be enough
for Pogba next year

The Juventus director general has cited the money being spent by Premier League
clubs to back his claim that the Frenchman's value is only going to rise.

http://www.goal.com/en-za/news/4682/transfer-zone/2015/09/02/14992502/-?

Sep 2, 2015

Juventus director general Beppe Marotta has warned Paul Pogba's suitors that €100 million might not be enough to sign the midfielder next year.

The France international is one of the most coveted players in world football and was this summer courted by European champions Barcelona, who failed with an €80m bid for the 22-year-old.

Marotta has now claimed that Pogba's value is only going to rise in the next 12 months, citing the €1.17bn Premier League clubs spent during the summer transfer window as evidence of the remarkable rate of inflation within football.

"The market is only going to grow," the Juve director told reporters on Wednesday. "The Premier League is the example: prices that are normal today would have been crazy yesterday.

"If Pogba should maintain the levels of last year, €100m might not be enough next year.

"Maintaining a winning team is about making great signings, but when you're faced with offers of over €100m, you wobble.

"But Juve wants to win and that's why we kept him."

Juve, though, lost a number of key players during the summer, with playmaker Andrea Pirlo leaving for New York FC, top scorer Carlos Tevez returning to Boca Juniors and midfield dynamo Arturo Vidal joining Bayern Munich.

The Bianconeri have made several signings to replace those who have departed, including Paulo Dybala, Sami Khedira and Mario Mandzukic, but Massimiliano Allegri's men have made a dismal start to their Serie A title defence, losing their opening two fixtures for the first time ever.

Marotta, though, is calling for calm, arguing that fatigue is a factor and that patience was always going to be needed to allow the revamped squad to gel.

"We worked during the summer window with the idea of creating a mix of experience and youth," he added. "For us, the market represented a metamorphosis.

"We lost at Roma [last weekend] because we're still in the initial phase of the season. It's a question of preparation and significant journeys like the one to Shanghai [for the Supercoppa Italiana].

"Facing last year's runners-up in the second round of the season is not an excuse but that was not the real Juve.

"Credit to Roma, but they are only three points. We're now starting for six points down and we must make them up.

"But our season starts now and I'm not worried about the quality of the players. We have a very good group.

"A period of adjustment was always necessary but we are Juventus and we must win."

Marotta: 'No new Hamsik bid'

http://www.football-italia.net/72612/marotta-no-new-hamsik-bid?

Sep 5, 2015

Juventus director Beppe Marotta insists “we won’t resume talks with Napoli for Marek Hamsik in January.”

Both clubs confirmed there were negotiations during the summer and Tuttosport claimed there will be another proposal mid-season.

“No, I doubt we would resume talks with Napoli for Hamsik in January, because we’ve signed an important player like Hernanes,” Marotta told reporters.

It was a difficult time for Juve, who missed out on targets including Roma’s Miralem Pjanic, Julian Draxler and Mario Gotze.

“We always seek the best on the market. We were unable to get all of them, but still have a great squad that won everything except the Champions League last season.”

Marotta hints at Pirlo retirement

http://www.football-italia.net/72615/marotta-hints-pirlo-retirement?

Sep 5, 2015

Juventus director Beppe Marotta hinted Andrea Pirlo should retire from the Italy squad. “It’s a decision he must make.”

The 36-year-old midfielder did not renew his Bianconeri contract this summer and moved to New York City FC.

He became the first MLS player to feature for Italy in a 1-0 victory over Malta this week, but was criticised for his sluggish performance.

“I think every player should understand when the moment has come to hang up his boots,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium Sport when asked about Pirlo.

“I don’t know if that moment has already arrived for him. Certainly, it’s a decision he must make.”

'Juve still believe in Scudetto'

http://www.football-italia.net/72622/juve-still-believe-scudetto?

Sep 6, 2015

Juventus “still believe we can win the Scudetto” despite their historically bad start, said Beppe Marotta.

Never before had the Turin giants begun a Serie A campaign with two consecutive defeats, but they were beaten by both Udinese and Roma.

“We are just at the start of the season and what the table says now doesn’t mean much,” insisted general manager Marotta.

“Getting back to a victory against Chievo next weekend will be fundamental to start the comeback.

“We still believe we can win the Scudetto and certainly aren’t just playing to take part this season.”

Last term Juve won their fourth consecutive Serie A title and the Coppa Italia, but were beaten in the Champions League Final by Barcelona.

They have a tough group this time round, facing Manchester City, Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach.

“In Europe you cannot afford any mistakes or false starts.”

Marotta: Cuadrado can emulate Tevez at Juventus

Giuseppe Marotta believes the Chelsea flop can restore his reputation in much
the same way as the Argentine attacker did during his time with the Old Lady.

http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/3276/serie-a/2015/09/06/15108862/-?

Sep 6, 2015

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta believes new signing Juan Cuadrado is capable of emulating Carlos Tevez's success in Turin.

Cuadrado joined the Bianconeri on loan from Chelsea before the close of the summer transfer window, after failing dismally to force his way into Jose Mourinho's starting line-up following his January arrival at Stamford Bridge from Fiorentina.

Marotta is now hoping that the Colombian can restore his reputation in much the same manner as Tevez, whose move from Manchester City in 2013 was initially viewed as a gamble but then went on to fire the Old Lady to two successive Serie A titles.

“I do see comparisons between the arrival of Cuadrado and those of Tevez and Andrea Pirlo, as they too were signed amid scepticism and did great things,” the Bianconeri chief told the Corriere dello Sport.

Marotta also expressed his joy at managing to sign Hernanes from rivals Inter just before the summer window closed.

“Hernanes arrived on deadline day because we heard of this opportunity to get the Brazilian and contacted the Nerazzurri directors," he explained.

“They were open to negotiations, despite the fact this operation counted as a loss for Inter’s books.

"The rapport between the clubs has always been good, so rumours Inter didn’t want to sell any players to Juventus were untrue.

“In fact, thanks to selling Hernanes, Inter were perhaps able to buy another couple of players.

“Inter were very active on the market this summer, but we have a core of the squad that brought great success in recent years.

“We’ve got a great squad that won everything last season except the Champions League. It’ll be tough to better the 2014-15 campaign.”

Juve have made a dismal start to their bid for a fifth consecutive Scudetto, with Massimiliano Allegri's men having lost their opening two Serie A fixtures for the first time in history

Marotta: 'Juve rejected Pogba offers'

http://www.football-italia.net/74509/marotta-juve-rejected-pogba-offers?

Oct 18, 2015

Juventus director Beppe Marotta confirms they “rejected formal proposals from top clubs for Paul Pogba.”

The Bianconeri face Inter in the Derby d’Italia tonight.

“We received formal proposals from top clubs for Pogba, but we rejected them out of hand,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

“This season we put more responsibility on his shoulders, so he has many more games to improve.”

Pogba has been repeatedly linked to Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Meanwhile, UK papers claimed today that Jurgen Klopp wants Claudio Marchisio at Liverpool.

“Have we received offers for Marchisio? Many proposals arrived on our desk, but we are counting on Marchisio and renewed his contract over the summer.

“I think he is the first to agree that he should end his career with this jersey.”

Marotta: ‘Too much Dybala talk’

http://www.football-italia.net/74843/marotta-%E2%80%98too-much-dybala-talk%E2%80%99?

Oct 26, 2015

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta says ‘there’s too much talk about Paulo Dybala’ after his starring role in the 2-0 win over Atalanta.

The Argentine scored one and assisted the other in the Bianconeri’s victory on Sunday, but Marotta believes the media focus too much on the 21-year-old.

“I’ve already said to Allegri, when a player arrives from the provinces they must have time to grow and acclimatise,” he said to Mediaset Premium.

“I think you (the media) talk a bit too much about Dybala, Juventus is made up of other components.

“Allegri has a full complement of staff and you can see the results.

“We have the second best defence, we have to find a greater solidity.

“Pogba’s number? We didn’t notice it from the stands, we don’t know and therefore don’t know what to say.”

Marotta: 'Allegri not up for debate'

http://www.football-italia.net/75102/marotta-allegri-not-debate?

Oct 31, 2015

Juventus director Beppe Marotta assured Max Allegri “is not up for debate,” but they must beat Torino.

“We absolutely must win this match,” the director general told Mediaset Premium.

“We are going through a difficult moment and after the defeat to Sassuolo there were internal discussions to understand how best to progress.

“There’s no debate about the quality of the squad, nor the Coach. Allegri is not up for debate. It’s part of the Italian culture to change Coach when there’s a dramatic situation, but we are absolutely not at that point.

“We just need to get back to a victory. We’re dealing with professionals who won four consecutive Scudetti, so we just need to rediscover that sense of belonging that perhaps has been lost.

“Revamping the squad must not become an alibi, as it’s part of a smart project. Not everyone has understood what it means to play for Juve and perhaps others are feeling sated.

“The defeat to Sassuolo is emblematic, as against us all opponents are fired up and motivated, but these defeats are more our fault than to their credit.”

Marotta: ‘Third place minimum goal’

http://www.football-italia.net/75570/marotta-%E2%80%98third-place-minimum-goal%E2%80%99?

Nov 9, 2015

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta says ‘third place is the minimum goal’ and believes Andrea Pirlo ‘wouldn’t accept Inter'.

The Bianconeri have had a difficult start to the season but moved up to seventh in the table on Sunday after a 3-1 win against Empoli.

Former Bianconeri playmaker Pirlo has been linked with a move to the Nerazzurri in the MLS off-season, but Marotta doesn’t see it happening.

“I know Pirlo, for the great sincerity and affection that he had for us,” Marotta told Processo del Lunedi.

“I’m almost certain that, if a proposal like that came along, he wouldn’t accept it.

“Third place is the minimum target to reach, we must aim for the Champions League.

“Scudetto? We have some hope. We must be aware that difficulties exist, maybe for the first time in years, from strong opponents – Roma have now established themselves as a high-level opponent.

“Inter can become a serious candidate and win. The Nerazzurri, despite having scored only 12 goals, they’ve conceded only seven and this isn’t a fault. Quite the opposite, they’re deservedly on top of the table.

“I’m happy with the position that I have at Juventus, I want to achieve more satisfaction from Juventus.

“It’d be extraordinary to be able to win the Scudetto again, then the dream is always to lift the cup with the big ears (the Champions League).”

Pirlo would reject Inter, says Marotta

The Juventus chief is adamant the veteran playmaker would reject
any approach from the Nerazzurri out of loyalty to the Italian champions.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/723/serie-a/2015/11/09/17156212/-?

Nov 9, 2015

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta does not believe that Andrea Pirlo would accept a potential offer from Inter due to his enduring "affection" for the Bianconeri.

Pirlo moved to Turin on a free transfer in 2011 and played a key role in the Old Lady's resurgence, inspiring the club to four successive Scudetti before leaving this summer to join New York City FC.

However, the veteran playmaker is now being linked with a return to Inter, whom he spent three years at before joining rivals AC Milan in 2001.

Marotta, though, is not unduly worried about the prospect of Pirlo rejoining the Nerazzurri due to the player's strong emotional ties to Juve.

"I know Pirlo for his great professionalism and for the great affection that he had for us," the Bianconeri chief told Processo del Lunedi.

"I'm nearly certain that, if an offer like this [from Inter] arrives, he would not accept it."

Juventus endured a dismal start to the 2015-16 Serie A season but two wins on the bounce - for the first time this term - have seen them climb too seventh in the standings, eight points behind third-placed Roma.

Marotta thinks Massimiliano Allegri's resurgent side simply have to maintain their momentum in order to secure Champions League football for next season.

"Third place is the minumum objective for us to reach," he added.

Marotta: Juventus Striker Dybala Has Immense Qualities

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/11/marotta-juventus-striker-dybala-has-immense-qualities/?

Nov 26, 2015

Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta praised Paulo Dybala’s immense qualities after the win over Manchester City on Wednesday.

Marotta added he was satisfied about qualifying to the next round in the Champions League, praising the team and coach Massimiliano Allegri.

“The club are satisfied with the work of the team and Allegri: we had to reach this point of the season having won the Italian Supercup and being through to the next round in the Champions League and we managed it,” he told Premium Sport.

“It is a delicate moment of the season, but we reached the first step: now we must find our identity in the league,” he added.

Speaking about his players, Marotta said: “Youngsters like Dybala will show all their potential in the upcoming seasons. He joined a big club like Juventus straight from Palermo: when he gains experience he will demonstrate his immense qualities.”

“Mandzukic should have a muscle problem, but it isn’t a big deal,” he added speaking about the injury the striker picked up on Wednesday night.

Marotta: ‘Juventus back on track’

http://www.football-italia.net/76530/marotta-%E2%80%98juventus-back-track%E2%80%99?

Dec 1, 2015

Giuseppe Marotta believes Juventus are “back on track” and will only look for “opportunities” in January.

The Bianconeri had a difficult start to the Serie A season, but have now climbed to fifth on the back of four wins in a row.

“The win in the Supercoppa and getting through the Champions League group gives us the confidence to continue the season, with [Coach Max] Allegri who has our full support,” general manager Marotta told Radio Sportiva.

“We have total confidence, recent history tells us that, we have several players who have experience this cycle of four Scudetti, the Coach has taken us to the Champions League final.

“He only came last year, but he’s proved that he’s got great qualities.

“I’d say it’s rare that you win four Scudetti, the Coppa Italia and reach the final of the Champions League.

“Allegri wanted to be able to say that we’re part of an ongoing process in the Champions League, we’ve had a run of several useful results.

“We’ve lost only one of our last 15 games, it’s good from that point of view. We had problems in the League, but we’re back on track with four straight wins.”

It’s been rumoured that the Bianconeri will seek to bring Roberto Soriano of Sampdoria as a midfield reinforcement in January, but Marotta will only look for bargains.

“It’s important to try and get the injured players back, to have 24 players who meet the needs of the Coach.

“We’ve felt the effect of the absences in midfield, but we won’t enter the market in January just to patch things up.

“If there’s an opportunity, we’ll take it, but doing something extremely advantageous is difficult to achieve in January.”

Marotta: ‘Rugani will get his chance’

http://www.football-italia.net/76531/marotta-%E2%80%98rugani-will-get-his-chance%E2%80%99?

Dec 1, 2015

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta assures Daniele Rugani’s “chance will come”.

The defender returned to the Bianconeri from Empoli this summer, but has so far made just one cameo appearance for the club.

“We’re extremely pleased [with him],” Marotta assured Radio Sportiva.

“He has champions in his position though, it’s hard to force his way in. But he embodies the spirit of this club, a sense of belonging, playing in the Champions League.

“He’ll be a protagonist in the coming years. His chance will come.”

Striker Alvaro Morata has been given scant opportunities as a starter for the Old Lady, but Marotta assures there’s no problem with the 23-year-old.

“At this time Morata isn’t finding space, these are specific choices of the Coach [Max Allegri]. No-one can doubt his quality, least of all Allegri, who appreciates him.

“We have to have patience, there are a lot of competitions.”

Marotta on Allegri and Morata

http://www.football-italia.net/76531/marotta-‘rugani-will-get-his-chance’?

Dec 4, 2015

Juventus director Beppe Marotta shrugged off rumours around Alvaro Morata and Max Allegri going into the Lazio game.

“We know the dynamics of football and some alternation of results can happen, the important thing is to end very well,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

Lazio have complained about refereeing errors after two Miroslav Klose goals were disallowed in the 1-0 defeat to Empoli.

“Referees? I have faith in the officials and believe at the end of the year errors balance out for everyone. At the end of the season, the team that deserves it is on top of the table.

“So far this term we’ve been penalised by the many injuries that forced the Coach to not always use the best line-up.

“We are happy with what we did over the summer and I don’t think there will be any big opportunities to pounce on in January. There are opportunities, but not something we could call a lifesaver.”

Marotta was asked about suggestions Morata will go back to Real Madrid after he was benched for the fourth game in a row.

“I think the evaluation has to be made over several years. He is young and last season did very well. It’s natural to have peaks and troughs at his age and it’s the responsibility of the Coach to deal with him in the best way.

“He is an important player, someone whose promise turned to reality, but we have many excellent players in attack and Allegri decides who to play.”

Speaking of the Coach, there were also rumours Manchester United were interested in taking on Allegri for next season.

“These are reports, but he has a contract with us.”

Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta has issued a hands-off warning for clubs targeting duo Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata, insisting they are key to the club's future.

Barcelona have been linked with a move for Argentine striker Dybala, who only joined Juve from Palermo during the close-season.

Dybala netted his eighth goal of the Serie A campaign as Juve accounted for Fiorentina 3-1 on Sunday and Marotta insists the 22-year-old will not be sold.

"He is a player who is improving and still hasn't fulfilled his full potential, because he is so young," Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

"Week by week he is showing what he can do, but we have no intention of selling him this year or any other year.

"We invested a lot of money in him and he represents the foundation to build on in future."

Morata re-signed with the Italian champions during the week, committing his future until June 2020.

However, former club Real Madrid still have a buy-back clause for the Spain international.

"It won't make any difference, it's just that if he remains with us then it's only right to invest in a player who has plenty of quality," Marotta added.

"We will enter negotiations with Real Madrid as soon as possible to resolve this situation and make it transparent.

"We hope to remove this clause. Real Madrid are well aware that he is a player who was promising and is now to all intents and purposes a star."

Marotta: 'No January stars'

http://www.football-italia.net/77380/marotta-no-january-stars?

Dec 20, 2015

Juventus director Beppe Marotta “can rule out” a January move for Ezequiel Lavezzi, Ilkay Gundogan or Ever Banega.

The Bianconeri transfer guru spoke to Mediaset Premium this afternoon and shot down the rumours in today’s papers.

“The January transfer window is one for reparation and we do not need to repair anything,” noted Marotta.

“In January the moves are not always advantageous for clubs, even if we remain vigilant for any interesting opportunities.

“Gundogan and Banega? I can rule out a move for them and the same goes for Lavezzi.”

Marotta also confirmed Juve were “already in negotiations” with Andrea Barzagli for a contract renewal.

Marotta: 'Patience, awareness Juve key'

http://www.football-italia.net/77414/marotta-patience-awareness-juve-key?

Dec 21, 2015

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta says that 'patience and awareness' have helped the club rise back up the table.

The Bianconeri started the season in terrible form, but yesterday's win over Carpi saw them move within three points of leaders Inter.

It was their seventh league win in a row and ensured that Juve go into the winter break in fourth place and still in the hunt for the Scudetto.

"What has changed? Patience and awareness," Marotta explained to Radio Rai.

"Allegri's group has responded to our project. The Coach has great professionalism, practicality and in the previous year has shown great quality by bringing home great results – and let's remember the moment he arrived at Juventus.

"Football is something that burns everything with incredible ease and the criticisms are harsh, without properly evaluating the work of the club, thus risking negative judgments.

"The ability of the President was to understand the situation, the strength of the team and the Coach.

"There were some difficult objectives that were eliminated. Results also fell because of injuries, from the conditioning preparation for the Supercoppa in China.

"We assembled a squad with 10-12 players arriving from different leagues or teams with less pressure.

"All these factors have led to these difficulties, but the directors haven't acted on instinct and mood. Rather by objective assessments beyond the pitch."
