“The president is here” – Agnelli’s San Siro appearance delights Allegri & Rabiot Former Juventus president Andrea Agnelli stole the headlines by attending a Milan contest on Sunday, but no one was more excited than Max Allegri. The two men share a friendship dating back to the manager’s first stint in Turin between 2014 and 2019, when he guided the club towards five Scudetto titles, four Coppa Italia triumphs, and two Champions League finals. ............ Following the expiry of his sporting ban, the 50-year-old is now able to attend Serie A contests. But instead of showing up at a Juventus match (where his presence might not necessarily be welcome), he opted to support his old friend, Allegri, as Milan hosted Hellas Verona in Sunday’s early kickoff. ............ However, Agnelli’s presence was the main talking point during and after the match. Moreover, a clip featuring an interesting exchange between Allegri and Rabiot in the tunnel has been circulating on social media. “The president is here today,” the manager told his long-time French pupil. The former Juventus midfielder was at first distracted by his headphones, so he asked for confirmation: “Is he here?” “The president is here, Andrea,” reiterated Allegri with a low tone. ............ . Spalletti addressed Juventus dressing room at half-time: unhappy with one thing Luciano Spalletti was frustrated by Juventus players’ lack of concentration in the first half against Pisa, so he ‘made his voice heard’ at half-time. Juventus secured their seventh win in the last eight games on Saturday, beating relegation candidates Pisa 2-0 away. ............ The game, however, was not as comfortable as the result would suggest, especially because Pisa hit the woodwork twice in the first half. Spalletti was truly unhappy with Juventus’ first-half performance, so he made his voice heard inside the dressing room at half-time. Juventus’ lack of concentration ‘drove Spalletti mad.’ ............ The team appeared disjointed on the pitch, boosting Pisa’s confidence and prompting the Italian tactician to deliver a firm dressing room speech that contributed to changing his players’ approach in the second half. ............ . Juventus optimistic about key contract renewal ahead of January meeting Juventus are growing confident in their ability to find an accord with Kenan Yildiz and his entourage on a new contract based on the latest reports in the Italian press. The 20-year-old penned a new deal last year, pushing back the expiry date until June 2029. But even though the deadline remains far away, the two parties are keen to find an agreement on a new deal as soon as possible. ............ The Turkish international currently earns circa €1.6 million per season, which is one of the lowest wages in the first team. In recent months, Juventus have been negotiating with the player’s father, Engin Yildiz, in the hopes of reaching an agreement. While the talks somewhat stalled recently, a host of European giants have expressed their desire their accommodate the young forward, by offering him suitable wages. Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Real Madrid are some of the top suitors that have been linked with Yildiz in recent weeks. But Juventus are now optimistic about reaching an agreement with the player in January. As the source reveals, the Turin-based giants have scheduled a meeting with the attacker’s father next month, and they believe that they can either finalise the accord or at least make a significant breakthrough in the negotiations. ............ Juve’s most recent offer was around €4.5 million per year plus bonuses, but the management is now willing to reach the €6 million requested by the player’s entourage. This would make Yildiz the club’s top earner alongside Jonathan David once Dusan Vlahovic’s lucrative contract expires at the end of the season. This latest Juventus push coincides with the youngster’s mesmerising displays on the pitch, and the report insists that this is hardly a coincidence. ............ . “Wake up!” – How Spalletti shook Juventus at half-time in Pisa Luciano Spalletti wasn’t pleased with the performance of his players during the first half against Pisa, and he let them know it at half-time. The Tuscan manager is being credited by fans and observers for healing the team’s wounds following the disappointing spells of his predecessors, Thiago Motta and Igor Tudor. ............ Although Juventus eventually managed to prevail over Alberto Gilardino’s men by two unanswered goals, the home side came extremely close to scoring on a couple of occasions. Michele Di Gregorio was twice bailed out by the goal frame. Therefore, Spalletti was absolutely livid with his players’ display in the first half. The 66-year-old gave his men an old-fashioned locker-room dressing down. “Wake up, this can’t be your level! You’re Juve, show it!” he reportedly told the Juventus players at the interval. ............ Spalletti’s locker-room outbursts will be certainly be welcomed by the Juventus supporters, who have long complained about the players’ tendency to drop their guard down, especially in the later stages of the match. Interestingly, even the players are seemingly enjoying the new manager’s approach, or at least some of them. Following Saturday’s away win, Yildiz admitted that he’s relishing Spalletti’s tough-love treatment, as it makes him feel important to the case. ............ . Marchetti: Juventus could sell key Spalletti player in January Luciano Spalletti could lose the services of one of his main protagonists, as Juventus are reportedly considering cashing in on Weston McKennie. The USMNT star has had his fair share of highs and lows since joining the club in 2020, but he’s been an automatic starter and a key figure since Luciano Spalletti’s apointment in late October. ............ The Texan’s entourage had made some progress in their negotiations with former Juventus Football Director Cristiano Giuntoli, but the talks stalled when the latter was replaced by Damien Comolli. At this stage, Spalletti is urging the management to find a solution that would keep his pupil in Turin beyond the current campaign, but there haven’t been any concrete developments on this particular front. Therefore, Italian journalist Luca Marchetti believes that a January exit cannot be ruled out. As the transfer market insider explains, Juventus could opt to sell the versatile star in January rather than run the risk of losing him for free six months later. ............ If McKennie were to leave Juventus next month, his most likely destination would be a return to his home country for a maiden experience in Major League Soccer. “McKennie, whose contract is expiring, hasn’t reached an agreement with Juventus yet,” said Marchetti. “From what we understand, he’s expected to go play in America at the end of his contract. “The MLS starts in March, so who knows, if this issue were to come up, he could even leave in January. This could put Juventus in a bit of a bind, given McKennie’s versatility.” ............ . Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/marchetti-juventus-could-sell-key-spalletti-player-in-january/

Di Marzio: Juventus ready to add Muharemovic to Frattesi package Juventus are reportedly considering offering Inter their stake in Tarik Muharemovic’s contract in exchange for Davide Frattesi. The Bosnian defender joined the Bianconeri’s youth ranks in 2021, and captained the Juventus Next Gen, before joining Sassuolo in 2024. After helping the Neroverdi secure a swift promotion to Serie A, the 22-year-old completed a permanent transfer to the Mapei Stadium last summer for just €3 million. However, the Old Lady retained a 50% sell-on fee on a future resale. ............ This season, Muharemovic has been one of the best revelations in the Italian top flight. He has already scored two goals and provided two assists in his 14 league appearances, attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in the Italian peninsula and beyond. According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Bournemouth have entered the race for the young centre-back’s signature. The Cherries have almost resigned to losing their Marcos Senesi, who’s running on an expiring contract. Curiously, the Argentine defender has been linked with Juventus in recent days. ............ Therefore, Di Marzio claims that Juventus will try to use the Nerazzurri’s interest in the Bosnian to their advantage, by offering to relinquish their 50% sell-on fee in their favour, in exchange for a discount on Frattesi. The 26-year-old midfielder is reportedly hellbent on leaving Inter in January due to his lack of playing time under Cristian Chivu. In the meantime Luciano Spalletti has been urging the Juventus management to reunite him with his former Italy disciple. ............ . Juventus already enquired about Perin’s potential replacement Juventus could part ways with Mattia Perin in January, and have already identified Christos Mandas as the right profile to replace him. The Italian shot-stopper has been serving as an understudy in Turin for years, but Genoa are keen to bring back their youth product for a third stint. The 33-year-old has a new ally at the Luigi Ferraris in the shape of his former Italy teammate, Daniele De Rossi, who was recently appointed as the Grifone’s head coach. ............ While Juventus are happy with their current goalkeeping department, they won’t stand in Perin’s way should he decide to return to his original club in search of additional playing time. But before sanctioning the veteran’s departure, Damien Comolli and Co. must find a suitable alternative. ............ Juventus have enquired about Mandas. The 24-year-old has been at Lazio since the summer of 2023, and often delivered solid displays. He even managed to usurp Ivan Provedel in the pecking order during the second half of the previous campaign, but lost his starting spot following Maurizio Sarri’s return to the club. ............ . Spalletti registers highest point average at Juventus since Sarri Since his appointment in late October, Luciano Spalletti has slowly but surely managed to guide Juventus back in the right direction. The 66-year-old was chosen to succeed Igor Tudor, who lost the plot earlier in the season, with the Bianconeri going winless in eight straight matches. ............ Juventus ended a turbulent 2025 with an encouraging five-match winning streak across all competitions and by closing the gap to their rivals at the top of the Serie A table, thus reigniting their Scudetto hopes. Spalletti has thus far registered the best point average for a Juventus manager since Maurizio Sarri. The latter guided the Bianconeri towards their most recent Scudetto title to date, before being sacked in August 2020 after getting eliminated from the Champions League Round of 16 at the hands of Lyon. ............ The current Lazio manager had recorded a 2.18 average during his solitary year in Turin. On the other hand, Spalletti has registered 2.12 points per match in his first two months in charge. Andrea Pirlo, who had succeeded Sarri to the role in the summer of 2020, recorded an average of 2.05. ............ Max Allegri then returned for a second stint that lasted just under three years. The Livorno native endured rough times on and off the pitch, ending his experience with an average point of 1.86. Interestingly, the numbers further plummeted with every new appointment, as Thiago Motta (1.79) and Tudor (1.76) produced even worse results. ............ . Yildiz relishes Spalletti’s tough treatment: “I can handle the shouts” Juventus star Kenan Yildiz is enjoying working under Luciano Spalletti, who is often yelling instructions from the sidelines. The Turkish international had already worked under three previous managers since joining the first team, namely Max Allegri, Thiago Motta, and Igor Tudor. ............ After Saturday’s 2-0 win over Pisa, Spalletti reserved special praise for Yildiz once more, saying he cares about him ‘like a son’, while confirming the youngster’s status as the team’s ultimate difference maker. The two men also shared a warm embrace when the young forward left the pitch after scoring Juve’s second of the night. But during the contest, the manager was constantly heard hurling instructions in the Turk’s direction. ............ “He’s a great coach: he pushes me, but I like that,” said the Bayern Munich youth product in his post-match interview. “I like that he counts on me; he has to push me every match. I believe I’m an important player and I have the character to handle those shouts — I like being urged on.” Yildiz also discussed the tap-in he scored in the dying minutes of the match. ............ “I was lucky the ball didn’t go out beforehand, and I scored — my easiest goal,” admitted the Juventus No.10. . Le Pagelle: Pisa vs. Juventus It was a hell of a slog, but Juventus pushed their way to a 2-0 victory against a pesky Pisa side on Saturday. It wasn’t anything like the encouraging performances against Bologna and Roma, but an encouraging win from this standpoint: winning when they haven’t played particularly well hasn’t been a habit the Juve of the last few years have made. It’s the kind of thing we haven’t seen with any consistency over the last few seasons, but it was a welcome sign that Juve were able to push through their long-standing habit of playing down to weaker opposition enough to bring themselves three points. It certainly wasn’t the greatest performance by any stretch of the imagination, but ultimately, they were effective enough to bring home three points in the first of an important stretch of games against provincial opposition. ............ MICHELE DI GREGORIO - 6. ............ PIERRE KALULU - 7. Did some great work defensively, making four tackles and two clearances while blocking a shot, and of course making the nice run for the goal. Would’ve been a little higher had his completion percentage (79.7) been higher. BREMER - 6. Made a couple of uncharacteristic missteps, but overall was his usual imposing self. Does still need to knock off the rust though. LLOYD KELLY - 6.5. Led the team with six clearances, and very nearly opened the scoring with a smart shot that banged off the post. He’s a completely different player than he was the second half of last season. ANDREA CAMBIASO - 6. ............ MANUEL LOCATELLI - 6.5. ............ KHÉPHREN THURAM - 5.5. ............ WESTON McKENNIE - 6.5. ............ KENAN YILDIZ - 6. Scored an easy tap-in and led the team in dribbles (3), but wasn’t able to impact the match as a whole, largely because he was often double- and triple-teamed. TEUN KOOPMEINERS - 5. Perhaps unlucky that he had a shot on the break blocked in the first half, but really didn’t make an impact otherwise. Had more defensive interventions than offensive ones. LOÏS OPENDA - 5. Didn’t have the opportunity to use his pace to impact the defense, and wasn’t able to get his teammates much involved either, only attempting eight passes overall. SUBS EDON ZHEGROVA - 7. Made a huge difference once he came on, discombobulating the defense with his dribbling and putting two of three shots on target. JONATHAN DAVID - 5. Awful control receiving passes today. Even his assist was on a ball that he really ought to have been able to shoot himself as opposed to deflecting it into Yildiz’s path. Looked apprehensive in shooting positions. FABIO MIRETTI - NR. ............ FILIP KOSTIC - NR. ............ JOÃO MÁRIO - NR. ............ MANAGER ANALYSIS With Francisco Conceição out and Bremer back in the fold, Luciano Spalletti went with the seemingly obvious solution to try to integrate Teun Koopmeiners into the side by putting him back into the attacking midfield slots. It didn’t work. Somehow, Koopmeiners has completely devolved from the player Juventus thought they were buying two summers ago. His only real utility at this point has been in the back three, but even there he can be a liability against better attackers, and he shouldn’t be back there when the best center-backs are available. Spalletti needs to either find a way to spark the Dutchman or start making plans to move the team on without him. Besides Koopmeiners, there wasn’t much in the way of problem with Spalletti’s team selection. The team’s struggles were a combination of offensive underperformance and the fact that Pisa, in spite of their place in the table, have been an incredibly difficult team to break down all year. But Spalletti’s changes again made the difference. Zhegrova unlocked the attack and allowed Juve to finally spread the Pisa defense out a little bit, while David, despite his generally ineffective play, was able to bring a different threat than the speed-based Openda to compliment what Zhegrova did. As we mentioned before, the mere fact that we’re talking about an ugly 2-0 win instead of a goalless draw or, worse, a smash-and-grab loss, speaks to the work Spalletti has done with Juventus since he arrived. ............ . “Go to the bench” – Spalletti dismissed Locatelli following substitution An Italian TV correspondent picked up the brief exchange between Juventus captain Manuel Locatelli and his manager, Luciano Spalletti. ............ Many fans and pundits pinpoint Edon Zhegrova’s second-half introduction as the turning point of the match, as Juventus became instantly more dangerous afterwards. The Kosovar’s entry came at the expense of a baffled Locatelli, while Teun Koopmeiners dropped back to fill in for the skipper in the Regista role. While leaving the pitch, the former Sassuolo star approached Spalletti, seeking an explanation for his decision. However, the 66-year-old was in no mood to provide justifications, so he swiftly dismissed the midfielder. “Go on, go to the bench,” said the manager as reported by a pitch-side correspondent. ............ After the contest, Spalletti mentioned that his decision was influenced by Locatelli’s yellow card, which is why he preferred to keep Koopmeiners on the pitch alongside Khephren Thuram. The former Roma and Napoli manager was perhaps too focused on the action on the pitch to spare time for explanations that can be postponed for later. ............ Many things have been said and written about the relationship between Spalletti and Locatelli, dating back to their time together in the Italian national team. The manager famously omitted the midfielder from the Euro 2024 squad, so many felt that their Juventus reunion would be an awkward one. ............ . Zhegrova thanks Spalletti for new nickname: “He’s helping me improve” Although he didn’t register a direct goal contribution, Juventus winger Edon Zhegrova made a big impact off the bench in the 2-0 away victory over Pisa. ............ The talented winger is still working on finding his optimal form after suffering a serious injury last season. ............ Zhegrova was tipped to start against Pisa this weekend in the absence of the injured Francisco Conceicao, but Luciano Spalletti revealed that he has been impeded by the flu. Nevertheless, the 26-year-old’s introduction in the second half paid dividends, as Juventus looked instantly more dangerous afterwards. ............ “The important thing is that the group stayed united,” said Zhegrova in his post-match interview. “Obviously, I want to put my qualities at the team’s disposal. Spalletti is helping me improve even in the defensive phase, which I was already doing at my previous clubs. “I can’t always come off at 100%—I haven’t played much and I’ve been sidelined.” Spalletti, who hailed Zhegrova as a ‘genius’ after the contest, had also given the nickname ‘Zeppetta’, which can be roughly translated as a small, yet crucial, object. “The ‘zeppetta’, as Spalletti calls it? It’s something I was born with. I thank the coach for giving me this nickname,” laughs the Kosovo international. ............ . “Like a son” – Spalletti opens up on Yildiz rapport, praises ‘genius’ Juventus super-sub Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti reserved special praise for his star player Kenan Yildiz following Saturday’s 2-0 win over Pisa. The Bianconeri struggled against their Tuscan hosts, who came extremely close to scoring on a couple of occasions. But in the end, the visitors took control of the action, and their pressure paid off with Pierre Kalulu scoring a scrappy goal in the 73rd minute. ............ “Games are always changed by the players, through their behaviour,” insisted the manager in his post-match interview. “In the first half, we lacked Yildiz’s quality. Openda is a player who attacks depth and space, and with the midfielders we had, we couldn’t find quality in the final third, so it becomes difficult to create anything, especially when you’re missing a bit of a classic number ten. “And Yildiz is our number 10. Like it or not, he has to take on that responsibility. I care about him like a son, because I know he’s the one who can change things for us, who can turn a match at any moment.” ............ Spalletti explained how his special rapport with Yildiz allows him to say things to his face while hoping to invoke a reaction. “You try to say things to him—sometimes in the right way, sometimes you try different approaches—but no one will ever make me doubt his huge availability, his personality, or his understanding of the important role he has. “We’re on the same wavelength: I can tell him things, and he has to pay attention to what I say, because, as I said before, I care about him.” ............ “Zhegrova had the flu: three days with a high fever, and he only trained a little Friday morning, so I even had doubts about whether he could cope with those 35 minutes,” explained the 66-year-old in his post-match interview. “But we had to put him on because we weren’t finding any solutions in the final third, and he’s a real genius in the decision-making and in beating his man.” “I actually thought he might give us even less, given the flu he’d had—also because physically you feel it afterwards. Instead, he came on well and gave us quality. ............ . Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/son-luciano-spalletti-kenan-yildiz-juventus/

Juventus player ratings vs Pisa: Kalulu & Yildiz on target Juventus survived a couple of scares to end their 2025 with an away victory against a courageous Pisa side. Luciano Spalletti’s men broke the deadlock through Pierre Kalulu, who took full advantage of a goalmouth scramble. In the dying embers of the match, Kenan Yildiz confirmed the result with a simple tap-in. ............ Juventus XI (3-4-2-1) Michele Di Gregorio – 6 ............ Pierre Kalulu – 7 The Frenchman didn’t know much about the finish, but his run and pressure sparked the opener. He was solid at the back as usual. Gleison Bremer – 6 The Brazilian had a few nervy moments at the back and gave away a free kick in a dangerous area. He was also poor at times in possession, as he’s still working on regaining his best form after a long layoff. Lloyd Kelly – 6.5 Another comfortable showing in defence from the former Newcastle man, who also came very close to breaking the deadlock, but his shot was denied by the post. Andrea Cambiaso – 5 An under-par performance from the wing-back, who seemed to be in vacation mode. Cheaply gave the ball away in dangerous positions, which almost allowed Pisa to score. Nevertheless, he at least contributed to the opener. Manuel Locatelli – 6 The Juventus captain looked irked by Spalletti’s decision to hook him early in the second half, and perhaps rightly so, as he was battling for every ball and making vital defensive interventions. Khephren Thuram – 5.5 ............ Weston McKennie – 6 ............ Teun Koopmeiners – 5.5 ............ Kenan Yildiz – 7 While it wasn’t a vintage Kenan Yildiz display, the Turk remains Juve’s go-to player. Tried his luck with a curling effort early in the match, and eventually managed to put his name on the scoresheet by poaching the second. Lois Openda – 5.5 The Belgian looked lively in the early going, but gradually suffocated as he found himself outnumbered and deprived of the spaces he likes to operate in. Substitutes Edon Zhegrova – 6.5 Juventus looked instantly more dangerous following the Kosovar’s entry. Lit off the right flank with his tricks and flicks, and tested Semper with a shot from the edge of the box. Jonathan David – 6.5 The Canadian instigated the second goal by picking up Miretti between the lines, before inadvertently providing the assist for Yildiz. Fabio Miretti – 6.5 Despite his limited time on the pitch, he managed to make an impact by playing an instrumental role in the second Juventus goal. Dribbled past the defender, before unselshly passing the ball to David. Filip Kostic – N/A Joao Mario N/A . Pisa 0 - Juventus 2: Initial reaction and random observations Saturday night was Juventus’ first visit to the Arena Garibaldi in nearly 12,800 days. In case you’re not able to do the quick math in your head — and who could blame you with that kind of number — that’s nearly 35 years, with a mid-January visit to Pisa in 1991 being the last time that the Bianconeri strolled into the quality atmosphere that this venue in Tuscany has to offer. ............ It’s safe to say that this performance will not go into the vault of all-time Juventus’ team showings. Or really anything close to it. For much of Saturday night’s 2-0 win over newly-promoted and 19th-place Pisa, it was a complete slog against an opponent who packed numbers and back defended with numbers very well. But for what this team needs more than just about anything — hint: it’s points — they eventually got the job done, and that is what Juve eventually secured when Kenan Yildiz’s seventh goal of the season in all competitions took much of the stress off a slim one-goal lead and saw Juventus jump into third place, albeit with those around them set to play on Sunday or Monday and also with at least one game in hand. An overall not-great performance by Juventus still ended with these things being true: That’s three straight wins domestically since the bad loss to Napoli. That’s seven wins in the last eight games in all competitions, with the loss to Napoli being the only blemish. That’s win to close out the calendar year that just so happens to begin a string of fixtures against provincial sides before the Champions League comes back onto the schedule late in January. I mean, let’s face it, it really could be a lot worse. Mainly because it was before Luciano Spalletti showed up in Turin. ............ Saturday night was not Spalletti’s best showing. Just as it wasn’t for Juventus. This was a slog, with the kind of first half that saw Juventus dominate for much of the opening 45 minutes only for Pisa to have two of the best scoring chances, including one shot that went off the woodwork. It wasn’t looking great. They had just six shots total. They had two just shots on goal and their xG was nothing to really boast about whatsoever. The lineup decisions that Spalletti made — namely Loïs Openda and Teun Koopmeiners — were not looking effective at all, and it’s not like there were a lot of positives coming out of such a sluggish first half to begin with. But what Spalletti has done well since coming to Turin is to try and reverse course and make second-half adjustments as soon as he can. The introduction of Edon Zhegrova certainly helped, as evident as by what he did before, during and after the opening goal that we thought was originally scored by Pierre Kalulu but ultimately went down as an own goal. It was a change like Zhegrova that Juve desperately needed for some sort of presence and creativity spark on the right wing — and that’s exactly what happened almost immediately after he came on. ............ This wasn’t the kind of performance that we saw against Roma. Nor was it really expected to be knowing that Pisa have given some top teams a tough time already this season and just the simple way of how they play compared to Juve’s opponent last weekend. Pisa forced Juve to try and break them down — which proved to be a pretty difficult task for a good amount of the 90 minutes. Thankfully, the own goal and then Yildiz’s icing on the cake ensured Juve will go into the new year on a nice little run of results and, at the very least, be within striking distance of the top four when they kick off their first game of 2026. ............ RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS A team with a Buffon playing against Juventus? Sorry, this will take some getting used to. But seriously, when you’ve been around long enough as a fan to see your favorite player’s son play against his dad’s former club, you know you’re starting to get old. And it’s not just the gray hair telling me this. Good to see young Louis Thomas quickly meet a certain player named Gleison Bremer shortly after coming on. In what proved to be easily his quietest game in weeks, Kenan Yildiz still scored a goal. Yildiz was also routinely triple-teamed by Pisa’s defense. When’s the last time we could say that about a Juventus player? Been a little while. ............ That little move by Fabio Miretti right before Yildiz’s goal … now that was very nice. If only he trusted his left foot enough to actually shoot the ball after making such a nice move to dispatch of everybody. Jonathan David probably should have been the one to score that ball, but alas that’s just the kind of season he’s having right now. When it’s going wrong, it is sometimes always going wrong no matter what you’re trying to do. Pierre Kalulu is good and I’m glad he’s a Juventus player. He deserved a goal even if it was officially credited as an own goal. He’s been that good this season. His celebrations were that good after he thought he got the goal. And let’s not forget, this is a man who has played every single minute of every game that Juventus has played so far this season. Let’s get him a goal to open 2026. Outside of that silly tackle at the top of the box in the second half, Bremer had a very Bremer-like game. It’s so nice to have him back. Oh, and to not be scared about him suddenly being subbed off in the 60th minute. ............ I sure would love for Zhegrova to get more minutes in his legs so that he can start and give Francisco Conceição a legit run for his money on the right wing. Plus, that would just be fun as hell to see Zhegrova play more often. But at least he’s making an impact off the bench as evident by what he did when he came on against Pisa. ............ Manuel Locatelli’s tackle that got him a yellow card might have been one of the most telegraphed soon-to-be late tackles I’ve seen in a while. You just saw it coming a couple of seconds before it happened. One of the easiest calls of the night to make. ............ As much as we say about Zhegrova’s through ball that led to the opening goal, that cross from Weston McKennie was pretty good, too. Just another thing to add to the list of things he’s doing well right now. ............ . Spalletti: ‘Juventus have to prove strength every time’ Luciano Spalletti warns Juventus ‘are a strong team, but we’ve got to prove it every time we step onto the pitch’ after a hard-fought 2-0 win over Pisa. ............ They survived that scare and took the lead on 73 minutes when a double ricochet on Weston McKennie’s low cross saw Pierre Kalulu bundle over the line, then Kenan Yildiz tapped in during stoppages after a strong Fabio Miretti run. ............ “Our tempo was slow, the last 6-7 minutes and first 6-7 minutes of the second half were bad, as Pisa caused problems with their intensity and we were fortunate in those situations,” Spalletti said. “In the second half, we had more quality, were more inventive, Zhegrova and David did well, giving us more quality in the final third. We were able to score and at that moment of the game I felt it was deserved, as we were creating spaces in the box. “We ought to do better and we need to do better.” ............ “Zhegrova had flu and three days with a high fever, so I had doubts he could sustain 35 minutes. But we had to risk it, as we were struggling to create those spaces, and he as we’ve seen is someone with the fuse lit, he knows how to take opponents on and make the right choices,” explained Spalletti. “I honestly thought he wouldn’t do as well in the circumstances. Khephren Thuram improved as it went on, I really liked Miretti when he came on, so this win boosts our confidence.” ............ “With various situations this week, I had to make changes. Koopmeiners didn’t show the quality of someone in that role, but perhaps the change affected him, as did switching the wide men around,” explained Spalletti. “We didn’t suffer that much in the second half, but in that period at the end of the first and start of the second, we did struggle to deal with Pisa’s physicality and they hit the woodwork twice. “I thought Pisa played very well and it was similar to their defeat against Inter, who suffered here for 70 minutes. Pisa are not fortunate at the moment. Our problem is that we are a strong team, but we’ve got to prove it every time we step onto the pitch, and we were below par in too many ways during the first half.” ............ This was Juve’s seventh win in the last eight competitive games between Serie A, the Champions League and Coppa Italia, potentially putting them back in the Scudetto race. ............ . Kalulu and Kenan Yildiz insist ‘Juventus deserved the victory’ in Pisa Pierre Kalulu and Kenan Yildiz admit it wasn’t the best Juventus performance, but they managed to break Pisa down. ‘We did better in the second half and deserved the victory.’ The Bianconeri ran a few risks at the Cetilar Arena this evening, as Stefano Moreo and Matteo Tramoni hit the frame of the goal for Pisa. So did Lloyd Kelly at the other end, but Kalulu eventually broke the deadlock after a double ricochet off Antonio Caracciolo when trying to meet the Weston McKennie low cross from the right. Kenan Yildiz made sure in stoppages, again from close range after a Fabio Miretti strong run and touch off Jonathan David, although the Turkish talent did not celebrate, perhaps thinking he was offside. ............ “It’s true this wasn’t a beautiful goal, but it was a very important one. Some games are tougher than others, I believe in football there is no such thing as good luck, you just have to keep working and improving,” Kalulu said. “With this victory, we are in a good position in the table, but we’ve got to just keep going and prepare for the next matches.” ............ This was the Old Lady’s seventh win in the last eight games between Serie A, Champions League and Coppa Italia. “It’s an important win for us, we have another three games to win before the midway stage. It was very tough, Pisa had an excellent first half, but we did much better in the second and deserved the victory,” Yildiz said. ............ . Juventus break down stubborn Pisa to continue fine winning run Juventus beat a stubborn Pisa side 2-0 this evening to continue their impressive run of form in the league. On paper, the fixture appeared straightforward, but it demanded focus and discipline from the Bianconeri, who were aware of their tendency to struggle against smaller teams if complacency set in. ............ Despite Juventus creating promising situations, Pisa defended admirably throughout the first half. The Old Lady could arguably have been more clinical with some of their chances, but the visitors maintained their structure and ensured the opening period ended without a goal, keeping the contest finely balanced. ............ After half-time, Juventus continued to press for the breakthrough, aware that conceding would make Pisa’s task significantly harder. The hosts remained disciplined, determined to avoid defeat, and limited Juventus to half-chances for much of the second half. The turning point came following several changes from the Juventus bench, which increased the tempo and intensity of their play. That pressure eventually told, forcing an own goal from Arturo Calabresi, giving the Bianconeri a deserved lead and shifting the momentum firmly in their favour. ............ Even after falling behind, Pisa refused to collapse and continued to compete with commitment, preventing Juventus from dominating completely. The Bianconeri were made to wait until the second minute of added time to secure the result, when Kenan Yildiz found the net to make sure of the win. The 2-0 scoreline reflected Juventus’ control and patience rather than outright dominance. It was a professional performance against an opponent that refused to make things easy, and another positive step as Juventus maintain their strong league form, and confidence continues to grow. . Serie A | Pisa 0-2 Juventus: Kalulu and Kenan Yildiz prove clinical Pisa were unlucky when hitting the woodwork twice before Juventus scored late on with Pierre Kalulu and Kenan Yildiz tap-ins to secure a 2-0 victory. The Bianconeri were brimming with confidence after six wins in their last seven competitive games, including back-to-back success over Bologna and Roma. ............ Adrian Semper stuck out a boot to push Weston McKennie’s effort onto the side-netting, while Kenan Yildiz’s right-foot curler flashed just past the far top corner and Antonio Caracciolo sprinted back to deflect the Koopmeiners counter-attack wide after Isak Vural slipped. ............ After the restart, Samuele Angori’s flicked on free kick was deflected just wide of the far top corner, while Manuel Locatelli’s long-range strike was straight at Semper. ............ Pisa thumped the frame of the goal for a second time on the hour mark, Tramoni’s header hitting the base of the near post on a Mehdi Leris cross from the right. Juventus also rattled the woodwork, as Lloyd Kelly’s angled drive hit the near stick from 10 yards. The Bianconeri started to swarm with the introduction of Edon Zhegrova, and he was part of the move to open the scoring. They spread it down the left with a McKennie roll across as Arturo Calabresi came sliding in to block from five yards, but it took another ricochet off Pierre Kalulu to bounce into the net. ............ Semper pushed another Zhegrova first-time strike out from under the bar, while Pisa introduced Louis Thomas Buffon, the son of Juventus legend Gigi. Juventus doubled their lead in stoppages when Fabio Miretti went on a mazy run, his finish was deflected off Jonathan David into the path of Kenan Yildiz to tap in at the back post from point-blank range.
