Juventus vs Cagliari: Preview and Prediction Juventus return to Serie A duty on Saturday looking to channel the emotion and momentum of their dramatic midweek European triumph. Their narrow UEFA Champions League victory may have lifted pressure momentarily, but Luciano Spalletti knows that the domestic picture remains far less forgiving. Standing in their way at the Allianz Stadium is a Cagliari side entrenched in another tense relegation fight and desperate for points. The midweek trip to Norway could have easily deepened Juventus’s crisis. Instead, it delivered a flicker of hope. Winless in Europe prior to Tuesday night, the Bianconeri entered their clash with Bodo/Glimt in dangerous territory near the bottom of the group. But in an eventful second half, two of their most scrutinised forwards finally struck back, Lois Openda finding the net before Jonathan David snatched a stoppage-time winner in striking fashion. The 3-2 victory did not solve all problems, but it restored belief and pushed Juventus into a playoff spot with three matchdays remaining. Yet, the mood in Serie A remains far less positive. Last weekend’s draw against bottom-placed Fiorentina only reinforced the sense of stagnation that has plagued Juve for over a year. Matches they should be controlling too often become scrappy, disjointed affairs, and dropped points have become a recurring theme. No side across Europe’s top five leagues has drawn more matches since the start of last season, 21 from 50, a statistic that reflects both structural issues and a chronic lack of cutting edge. Their current haul of 20 points from 12 matches marks the club’s third-worst return at this stage of a season this century, while scoring only 15 league goals represents their lowest output since 1999. Spalletti’s arrival has not yet sparked the dramatic transformation many fans had hoped for, and with a widening gap to Italy’s leading contenders, the pressure to correct course grows heavier by the week. ............ Team News & Tactics Juventus Juventus return to domestic action with relatively few absentees, giving Luciano Spalletti the opportunity to field a near full-strength side. The only confirmed injuries are in defence, with both Gleison Bremer and Daniele Rugani unavailable due to muscular issues. Their absence leaves Juventus slightly light at centre-back, although the versatility within the squad should compensate. Long-term absentee Arkadiusz Milik also remains sidelined and will not take part in Saturday’s contest. After rotating heavily in the UEFA Champions League win over Bodo/Glimt, Spalletti is expected to restore key starters to the lineup. Khephren Thuram should return to the midfield after being rested in midweek, while Kenan Yildiz is poised to slot back into the advanced playmaking line. Dusan Vlahovic, who began on the bench in Norway, is pushing strongly for a start, particularly given his outstanding record against Cagliari, with eight goals in eleven Serie A appearances against the Sardinian club. Juventus have no suspensions for this fixture. Spalletti is expected to continue with his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, a structure designed to maximise control in midfield and create fluid rotations between the attacking midfielders and the central striker. Michele Di Gregorio will start in goal, offering calm distribution and sharp reflexes behind the defensive line. In the back three, Pierre Kalulu should occupy the right-sided centre-back role, combining mobility with strong tackling, while Lloyd Kelly features centrally as the defensive anchor. On the left, the technically composed Teun Koopmeiners is expected to start as the ball-playing defender, contributing to build-up phases with accurate forward passing. Across the midfield, Andrea Cambiaso will operate as the right wing-back, providing width and progressive movement up the flank. Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram form the central pairing, with Locatelli orchestrating play from deep and Thuram offering athleticism, ball-carrying strength and transitional drive. On the left wing, Filip Kostic brings direct running, crossing ability and significant experience in wide channels. Ahead of them, Weston McKennie and Kenan Yildiz will occupy the dual attacking midfield roles. McKennie’s dynamism and intelligent positioning offer vertical threat and pressing energy, while Yildiz provides creativity, close control and a natural ability to drift into pockets between the lines. Leading the attack is Dusan Vlahovic, the focal point of Juventus’s forward movement. His finishing, aerial ability and hold-up play provide the team with both a reliable target in the box and an outlet during transitions. Probable Lineup (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Kelly, Koopmeiners; Cambiaso, Locatelli, Thuram, Kostic; McKennie, Yildiz; Vlahovic Cagliari ............ Probable Lineup (3-5-2): Caprile; Zappa, Luperto, Obert; Palestra, Deiola, Prati, Folorunsho, Felici; Esposito, Borrelli Key Stats Cagliari have beaten Juventus just once in their last 27 Serie A meetings, a run stretching back over a decade. During that period, Juventus have scored 64 goals against the Sardinian side, an average of 2.3 per game. No club across Europe’s top five leagues has drawn more matches than Juventus since the start of last season, 21 draws in 50 league matches. Cagliari have failed to win any of their last eight Serie A matches, collecting just four points during that run. They have also conceded at least two goals in six of those fixtures. Dusan Vlahovic has scored eight goals in 11 Serie A appearances against Cagliari, making the Rossoblu one of his most productive opponents. His scoring average of 0.72 goals per game against them is one of his highest against any Italian side. Despite sitting in the top half of the table, Juventus have scored only 15 goals through 12 league matches, their lowest tally at this stage of a season since 1999. By contrast, Cagliari have conceded 23 goals, one of the highest totals in the league. Player to Watch Dusan Vlahovic Few fixtures suit Dusan Vlahovic as naturally as a meeting with Cagliari. The Serbian striker has built a remarkable personal record against the Sardinian side, scoring eight times in eleven Serie A appearances. But beyond the numbers, this match comes at a pivotal moment in Vlahovic’s season. Having started on the bench in Juventus’s dramatic European win over Bodo/Glimt, he returns to domestic action with renewed purpose and something to prove. Vlahovic’s influence in this Juventus setup goes far beyond his finishing. His ability to pin centre-backs, occupy multiple defenders, and create pockets of space for Kenan Yildiz and Weston McKennie is essential to how Luciano Spalletti wants his team to attack. When Juventus struggle for rhythm, as they often have this season, it is Vlahovic’s aggression, off-the-ball movement, and willingness to operate on the shoulder of the last defender that injects urgency into the final third. Against a Cagliari defence missing key personnel and low on confidence, the Serb’s physicality could play a decisive role. His aerial presence will challenge Adam Obert and Sebastiano Luperto, while his capacity to drop deep and link play forces midfielders out of position and destabilises the Rossoblu’s defensive structure. ............ Prediction Juventus 2-0 Cagliari This match-up pits two teams moving in opposite directions, even if neither is playing at their absolute best. Juventus remain a side with structural issues, an attack that misfires too often, a tendency to stall in the final third, and a long-standing problem converting dominance into victories. But despite these flaws, the Bianconeri still possess far greater quality, depth and individual match-winners than their Sardinian visitors. ............ Luciano Spalletti’s side may not be at their most fluid, but fixtures like this often come down to control, patience, and the ability to capitalise on moments of quality. With Kenan Yildiz returning to the starting XI, Khephren Thuram anchoring midfield and Dusan Vlahovic playing against one of his favourite opponents, Juventus should have enough to break through Cagliari’s resistance. Cagliari’s best hope lies in disruptive defending and set pieces, but sustaining that level of concentration for 90 minutes at the Allianz Stadium is an uphill battle. Juventus will likely impose themselves gradually, and once the breakthrough comes, the gap in class should become apparent. . Zibì Boniek explains difference between his Juventus team and the current one Zibì Boniek spent three successful years at Juventus between 1982 and 1985, establishing himself as one of the most impressive foreign arrivals at the club during that era. Moving to Turin from Poland, he produced several outstanding performances and became an important figure in a side that enjoyed significant success. ............ His time at Juventus coincided with one of the most successful periods in the history of the Bianconeri, during which he won the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia and the European Cup, among other honours. Juventus has continued to be regarded as the biggest club in Italian football, yet the current team struggles to win matches with the consistency expected of them. ............ Boniek noted that while Juventus continue to work hard to return to the top of Italian football, there is a clear contrast between today’s team and the side he represented. He remarked, ‘It was full of true champions who made football history, Vialli, Baggio. Now I see good players. Our Juve was different, Boniperti called my wife: are you okay, ma’am? Tell your husband he needs a haircut. Today it is like other teams. Once upon a time, any club that wanted to sell a player would call Juve. When they won a Scudetto, Andrea Agnelli took to the field and spoke to the fans in front of three microphones, the Avvocato must have been turning in his grave. It is not a bad thing in itself, it is just that everyone does it. But I do not want to speak ill of anyone.’ ............ . Tacchinardi says Bodo/Glimt’s approach helped Yildiz to shine Alessio Tacchinardi has shared his thoughts on the impact made by Kenan Yildiz after the attacker came off the bench in Juventus’ match against Bodo Glimt. The Turkiye international was the catalyst for a much-needed revival from the Bianconeri at a moment when it appeared they were set to drop points yet again. ............ The attacker has been entrusted with significant responsibility, and when he experiences a dip in form, it becomes evident to both teammates and supporters, often affecting the overall performance of the side. In recent weeks, he has been unable to make the necessary impact, which led to him being named on the bench for the match against Bodo Glimt. Nevertheless, once he entered the pitch, he proved to be a major challenge for the Norwegian side and played an important role in Juventus securing the victory. His dynamism and directness provided the spark that the team had been missing for much of the encounter. ............ Tacchinardi offered a measured evaluation of Yildiz’s performance, stating, “Yildiz was a phenomenon , but he can’t always play like that. Luckily, Bodo left him one on one, but that doesn’t happen in Italy; they mark him with three players. With Bodo, thank goodness they let him do the damage. He did it all by himself.” ............ . Juventus handed injury boost as defender returns to training Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti has returned to training with the rest of the team and will be available in the upcoming Serie A match against Cagliari. ............ The Italy international was seen on the pitch at Continassa with his teammates on the eve of a home Serie A match against the Sardinians. Gatti had been an unused substitute in the previous Serie A game against Fiorentina and missed the following away Champions League match at Bodo/Glimt due to the flu. ............ Dusan Vlahovic will also be available against Cagliari tomorrow after spending the whole game against Bodo/Glimt on the bench, being not fully fit. Juventus are unbeaten under Spalletti, collecting two wins and three draws across all competitions. ............ . Read more -> https://football-italia.net/juventus-injury-boost-gatti-italy-training/

Jeda says Juventus has weakness that Cagliari can exploit Juventus will face Cagliari in Serie A this weekend, and the Bianconeri will be aiming to secure the points they need to steady their campaign. Confidence in the squad has been boosted by their midweek Champions League victory over Bodo Glimt, a result that offered some reassurance following a difficult period. ............ Although Juventus remains one of the strongest sides on the continent, their recent form has been disappointing. The men in black and white understand that improvement is essential if they wish to be regarded as genuine contenders for the league or any other major trophy this season. They have worked hard to put themselves in a promising position ahead of the weekend, yet they also know that more dropped points could further damage their confidence. Cagliari is, in theory, an opponent that Juventus should be capable of beating, and many will expect the Bianconeri to deliver a professional and controlled performance when the two clubs meet. ............ Cagliari former player Jeda offered his view on how Cagliari should approach the match, stating, “Cagliari must take the field calmly and with a clear mind, without obsessively thinking about the result and the opponent they face. Spalletti ‘s Juve can score at any time, but they can also concede: they have many shortcomings defensively, even if they possess notable quality from the waist up.” ............ . Sevilla wants to sign a Juventus star in January Juventus signed Jonathan David in the summer with high expectations, but questions are emerging about his future at the club. The Canadian striker arrived in Turin after establishing himself as one of the most consistent goal scorers in Europe, and he was expected to contribute regularly for the Bianconeri. However, David has struggled to find the same form he displayed previously, and this has drawn attention from other clubs seeking to bolster their attacking options. ............ Sevilla are monitoring the situation closely and would like to bring David to Spain in order to provide him with more regular game time. The Spanish club view him as one of the finest attacking talents currently available and believes he could make a significant impact in their squad. Sevilla sees an opportunity to sign a player who has yet to start consistently for Juventus, and they are reportedly serious about adding him to their group for the second half of the season. ............ Despite interest from Sevilla, Juventus continue to see David as an important part of their squad. The club is determined to help him regain his best form and is likely to work closely with him to improve his consistency and confidence on the pitch. For the Bianconeri, he remains a key asset, and a transfer would not be straightforward, particularly given the club’s long-term plans and reliance on his attacking contributions. ............ . Lille names their price for Juventus midfield target Juventus are among several top European clubs interested in signing Lille teenager Ayyoub Bouaddi, and they have reportedly been informed of the fee required to secure his services. The midfielder has impressed in recent months, emerging as a key figure for Lille. His breakthrough form has drawn the attention of multiple clubs, and Juventus are determined to be at the forefront of the pursuit. ............ The 18-year-old has demonstrated a remarkable capacity to influence games, and his performances have made him one of Lille’s most important players. His ability to control the midfield, progress play, and contribute both offensively and defensively has caught the eye of scouts across Europe. Juventus view him as a player capable of taking their squad to the next level and is reportedly in discussions to bring him to Turin. Bouaddi’s ambition to improve and develop further underlines the potential that has attracted top clubs to his doorstep. ............ Lille are seeking a transfer fee of up to 40 million euros for Bouaddi, reflecting his current status as one of the most promising young talents in the Ligue 1 side. While Juventus are keen to sign him, this asking price may present a challenge, as it is a significant investment for a player still in the early stages of his career. If Lille remain firm on the valuation, Juventus could potentially miss out on the youngster, as other clubs are also monitoring his situation and could enter the race for his signature. ............ . Juventus set a new positive record in their win against Bodo/Glimt Juventus produced an encouraging performance in their Champions League match against Bodo Glimt, and in doing so, they set a new record in the competition. The Bianconeri have endured a difficult season, already working under their second manager of the campaign, but this fixture offered signs that the team may finally be moving in a more positive direction. Luciano Spalletti has been tasked with guiding the men in black and white away from the habits that have hindered them in recent years. While the process has not been straightforward and the side has often slipped back into patterns that have brought limited success, the manager’s experience is proving valuable as he attempts to restore clarity and structure to their play. ............ Spalletti understands the importance of ensuring that Juventus regain stability, discipline, and confidence. He knows that the team require consistent improvement to reach the level expected of them, and he continues to work towards that objective. Against the Norwegian side, Juventus displayed several encouraging traits that suggested the players are beginning to respond to the demands placed upon them. Although the final scoreline of 3-2 might lead some to think that the contest was balanced, those who watched the match closely would have noticed the strides made by Juventus in terms of intent, pressing, and attacking purpose. ............ Despite the close score, Juventus produced an extraordinary attacking effort. The team registered 16 shots on target, the highest number recorded by any side in a single Champions League match. This remarkable statistic highlights the extent of their dominance in front of goal and reflects a level of creativity and efficiency that had been lacking for much of the season. The record provides clear evidence that Juventus deserved the victory and that their overall performance was stronger than the score alone suggests. ............ . Balzarini names Juventus player who sent a good message against Bodo/Glimt Fabio Miretti returned to the Juventus starting lineup for their match against Bodo Glimt as Luciano Spalletti introduced several changes to his team for the fixture. The Bianconeri entered the match needing a victory, prompting the manager to adjust aspects of the team’s setup in an effort to secure an essential result. Their opponents were also searching for their maiden win in the league phase of the Champions League, creating a contest in which both sides were under pressure to deliver. ............ In the freezing conditions of Norway, Juventus managed to secure the win at a moment when it appeared their winless run in Europe might be extended. One of the standout performers on the night was Miretti, who offered a timely reminder of the quality he brings to the side. The midfielder has endured a difficult campaign after sustaining an injury during pre-season, which has limited his involvement for much of the term. His return, however, could prove significant as Juventus attempts to turn their season around and regain momentum in their European campaign. Miretti’s performance demonstrated composure, awareness, and confidence, qualities that could become increasingly important as the club navigates a demanding schedule. ............ Speaking after the match, Gianni Balzarini offered his assessment stating, “The other positive note that really came out of Bodo, and also from a qualitative standpoint in terms of movement, touch, etc., was Miretti’s performance. It showed that Miretti can play with Locatelli, who sets up Miretti when he does. Locatelli plays as a midfielder, and Miretti yesterday gave the impression that he can continue to play in that position, especially that he can continue to play.” ............ . Juventus rekindle interest in a midfielder they tried to sign in 2012 Juventus have reportedly added Marco Verratti to their midfield shortlist, reviving their interest in their old obsession. The Pescara native rose to the scene during the 2011/12 season, when he helped his hometown club earn a promotion to the Italian top flight. He had formed a formidable trio with Lorenzo Insigne and Ciro Immobile who had taken Serie B by storm. ............ Throughout the years, Juve maintained a distant interest in the Pescara youth product, but they were never truly close to recruiting him. But Damien Comolli and Co. could consider making a move for the 33-year-old. Verratti has been playing his trade in Qatar since ending his 11-year collaboration with PSG in 2023. He spent two years with Al-Arabi, and currently plays for Al-Duhail, earning circa €30 million per year. ............ As the source explains, the Euro 2020 winner fits the mould requested by Luciano Spalletti, who is keen to add a deep-lying playmaker to his ranks. However, Verratti would have to accept a comprehensible pay cut if he wishes to finally realise his dream of playing in Serie A. The report adds that the midfielder also has a suitor in Boca Juniors, who are hoping to lure him to Buenos Aires. ............ . Juventus vs Cagliari - prediction, team news, lineups After dramatically gaining their first European win of the season, Juventus will try to boost a flagging Serie A campaign on Saturday, when they welcome Cagliari to Turin. Juve's last-gasp Champions League victory relieved a little pressure in midweek; meanwhile, their Sardinian counterparts are amid a familiar scrap for survival. Match preview Still seeking their first victory in this season's Champions League, both Bodo/Glimt and Juventus sat among the elimination places ahead of Tuesday's encounter in northern Norway. Two of Juve's misfiring strikers started out on the path to redemption, as Lois Openda and stoppage-time matchwinner Jonathan David both scored during a dramatic second half, and the Bianconeri ultimately won 3-2. Now occupying a playoff place - with three rounds remaining - their continental prospects look somewhat more sunny, but new boss Luciano Spalletti still has plenty of ground to recover in Serie A. Last weekend, his team were held to a disappointing draw by rock-bottom Fiorentina, as any dreams of a Scudetto challenge grew ever more distant. It was a familiar story for fans of Italy's most successful club: since the start of last season, Juventus have drawn more matches than anyone across Europe's top five leagues (21 of 50). Languishing down in seventh place, a tally of 20 points is their third-worst at this stage of any campaign so far this century, while 15 goals is the worst haul since 1999. ............ Juventus Serie A form: L L W W D D Juventus form (all competitions): W W D D D W Cagliari Serie A form: L D L L D D Team News After making several changes in midweek, Spalletti should recall established starters such as Khephren Thuram and Kenan Yildiz on Saturday. Only defensive duo Bremer and Daniele Rugani are set to miss out through injury, in addition to long-term absentee Arkadiusz Milik. Benched against Bodo/Glimt, Dusan Vlahovic will hope to start against his favourite opponents: he has scored eight goals in 11 Serie A meetings with Cagliari. While Vlahovic must vie with Openda and David to spearhead Juve's front line, Borrelli's brace against Genoa should be enough to lead the visitors' attack. Fellow forward Andrea Belotti is sidelined with a serious knee injury; Ze Pedro and Luca Mazzitelli are also in the Rossoblu's treatment room. Having picked up a knock last week, Colombian defender Yerry Mina is a serious doubt, so Adam Obert may have to fill in at centre-back. Juventus possible starting lineup: Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Kelly, Koopmeiners; Cambiaso, Locatelli, Thuram, Kostic; McKennie, Yildiz; Vlahovic Cagliari possible starting lineup: Caprile; Zappa, Luperto, Obert; Palestra, Deiola, Prati, Folorunsho, Felici; Esposito, Borrelli We say: Juventus 1-0 Cagliari It may not be pretty, but Juventus should beat one of their favourite opponents in Turin. Though the Bianconeri are still finding their feet under new management, Cagliari rarely travel well and have won just once on the mainland this season. . Romano: Juventus join the race for struggling Bundesliga striker Juventus could consider making a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Fabio Silva, who continues to struggle for playing time. The 23-year-old is a well-travelled Portuguese player who began his career at Porto’s academy, before being poached by Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2022 for €40 million. ............ Sadly for Silva, he hasn’t been able to lock himself a prominent role at Signal Iduna Park. The forward has yet to earn his full debut, only making 10 substitute appearances across all competitions, yielding one goal and an assist. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Silva is already considering a change of scenery, and his next destination could be in Serie A. ............ “He went to Dortmund in the summer, despite the summer courtship, but he’s not playing, he’s struggling a lot, and he’s considering leaving in January. It’s a real possibility,” said Romano in a video update posted on his Italian YouTube channel. “So keep an eye on Fabio Silva, because among the various teams interested in attacking players, there are several, perhaps Juventus; in terms of attack, Roma certainly; and we’ll see what happens with Milan with Gimenez. . Juventus and Napoli Chasing After Ferencváros Talent Juventus and Napoli are canvassing the market to find a new midfielder, and both have laid eyes on Alex Toth, who’s blossoming at Ferencváros. Several Bundesliga teams are keeping tabs on him, especially Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund could be interested too. ............ Juventus and Napoli would have to spend roughly €15M to acquire Toth in January. His price tag will rise if he stays put, given the competition and his clear trajectory. He already has some minor ties to Serie A, as he’s coached by Italian gaffer Marco Rossi in the Hungarian national team. He debuted last March and has started consistently since, notching nine appearances. ............ The Bianconeri are a safer bet to invest in a prospect they really like. While they need help and some quality, they have the manpower to bring along a newcomer slowly. ............ . Yildiz keen for Juventus renewal but two obstacles delaying the agreement Juventus and Kenan Yildiz are both determined to prolong their collaboration, but a couple of factors have been hampering the negotiations between the parties. The 20-year-old has now established himself as the club’s ultimate star. ............ However, the player’s current salary doesn’t reflect his great importance to the cause. The youngster earns circa €1.6 million per year, placing him 19th on the club’s wage list. In recent months, Juventus have been keen to rectify the situation but offering Yildiz a more appropriate salary. The Serie A giants would like to tie him down to a longer contract, while simultaneously warding off the ever-growing interest from Premier League giants. ............ The Turkiye international shares the club’s desire to extend the contract, but two issues must be resolved. First of all, the young attacker is gunning for a top salary. Since Dusan Vlahovic’s astronomic wages are well beyond the club’s current parameters, he has reportedly asked for €6 million, which is the figure collected by Juve’s second-highest earner, Jonathan David. ............ The Bayern Munich youth product is expected to emerge as one of the best players in the new generation. Therefore, he would like to associate himself with a club that grants him the opportunity to challenge for the biggest honours, rather than a team struggling on the domestic and European stages. Nevertheless, Yildiz and his entourage share a good rapport with Juventus, so most sources believe that two of them should eventually reach an accord. . Sigh of relief for Juventus as Spalletti’s favourite overcomes injury scare Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic will be in contention for a starting role this weekend after avoiding an injury. The Serbian has been the undisputed first choice in attack since the appointment of Luciano Spalletti at the end of October. ............ Vlahovic, who was already set to be rested, suffered a muscle strain during the pre-match warm-up in Norway. Therefore, Spalletti and his technical staff opted against playing him as a precautionary measure. But according to several sources in the Italian media, Juventus can now breathe a sigh of relief, as the centre-forward has been cleared of any injuries. Therefore, the source expects the former Fiorentina star to recover in time for Saturday’s home contest against Cagliari. Vlahovic will be vying for a starting role against Lois Openda and Jonathan David, who both managed to end their goal droughts on Tuesday. ............ With Vlahovic ready and raring to go, Spalletti will have a selection dilemma to resolve, especially since Openda and David have reconciled with the net. The former Fiorentina star had picked up a slight muscle strain during the pre-match warm-up. Spalletti was already planning to give him some rest and drop him from the starting XI. Therefore, the manager and his staff opted for a cautious approach, keeping the striker in the dugout for the duration of the match. ............ The clinical tests should shed some light on the player’s condition, determining the extent of the injury. In any case, Juventus could decide to drop the centre-forward for Saturday’s Serie A contest against Cagliari. It should also be noted that the Serbian had also suffered muscle fatigue during the latest international break, particularly in the aftermath of his national team’s World Cup qualifier against England at Wembley. ............ . Adzic isn’t ready for Juventus — But don’t write him off After another underwhelming display in the middle of the park, Juventus teenager Vasilije Adzic proved he’s still not there yet. ............ Adzic was surprisingly given the nod in the middle of the park alongside Manuel Locatelli, but the team’s rhythm was almost non-existent in the first half. He was also guilty of squandering a rare, promising chance for Juventus in the first 45 minutes. Although the Bianconeri’s uninspiring first-half display cannot be fully attributed to the young man’s display, he was the only one hauled off at the interval, making way for Kenan Yildiz, who inspired the comeback. This was Adzic’s full debut in the Champions League, and the last time he started a match for Juventus, he was making his full Serie A debut against Atalanta. Curiously, Adzic undeniably failed both tests. ............ Hence, a 19-year-old struggling to cope with the pressure and failing to express his best football at the biggest stage is absolutely normal. After all, the Montenegrin doesn’t have the luxury that Paul Pogba enjoyed upon making his first steps at Juventus. The Frenchman was introduced into an already functional system, and was embraced by absolute legends who gave him all the backing he needed. ............ . Journalist says it is not just Yildiz who helped Juventus beat Bodo/Glimt Kenan Yildiz was benched for Juventus’ Champions League match against Bodo/Glimt last night, but his introduction proved decisive in helping the Bianconeri secure a 3-2 victory on a challenging pitch. Once on the field, Yildiz made an immediate impact, and his presence contributed to a significant improvement in Juventus’ performance, allowing them to dominate their hosts during key periods of the game. The Turkiye star continues to demonstrate that he is a dependable player capable of influencing results at the highest level. ............ Juventus are keen for Yildiz to remain with the club for the long term, recognising his potential to play a central role in their future success. His ability to change the dynamics of a match underscores his value, but the team’s management also acknowledges the importance of collective effort. The men in black and white view him as a talent who could be instrumental in taking the squad to the next level, but they remain mindful that football is a team game in which contributions come from multiple players. ............ While Yildiz’s impact was clear, former journalist Giovanni Capuano has emphasised that credit for the win should not rest solely on the youngster’s shoulders. He said, “The report will say that Yildiz’s introduction changed the game, but that’s not necessarily the only key. Openda scored his first goal for Juventus, David, the other missing player, a rising performance from Miretti, and, above all, a show of character that hadn’t been seen even after Spalletti’s arrival at Continassa.” ............ . Vignola says the win against Bodo/Glimt will hand Juventus more confidence Juventus earned their first Champions League win of the season with a victory over Bodo/Glimt last night, a result that provides an important boost for the men in black and white. The team have continued to show that they can compete among Europe’s strongest sides when operating at their best, and maintaining that level consistently remains a key priority for manager Luciano Spalletti. The club see Spalletti as the ideal figure to lead them forward and expects him to deliver results promptly to secure his long-term tenure. ............ The manager’s main responsibility is to ensure the squad performs at peak level on a regular basis, drawing the best from his players in every fixture. Juventus’ leadership believe he can elevate the team to a higher standard, but immediate results are crucial for establishing stability and influence within the club. The win in Norway will reassure Spalletti as he prepares the squad for forthcoming matches, reinforcing both confidence and tactical belief. ............ Former Juventus star Beniamino Vignola has highlighted the significance of the result, emphasising its role in boosting morale ahead of upcoming fixtures. He said, “The victory shouldn’t be a finish line, but a new beginning. This confidence boost was needed, now Juve will have to build on it. A signal like this was needed, especially from these players, who aren’t exceptional but can still contribute something important. It’s still a good squad,” ............ . Le Pagelle: Juventus vs. Bodø-Glimt Tuesday’s match with Bodø-Glimt was a must-win, as Juventus started the day outside the playoff places and without a win through the first half of the League Phase. It was anything but a clean game for the Bianconeri, and it looked as if they were in for another disappointing night after gifting Bodø a late penalty, but Jonathan David’s stoppage-time winner sealed them three badly-needed points. ............ MATTIA PERIN - 5.5. ............ PIERRE KALULU - 6. ............ LLOYD KELLY - 6. ............ TEUN KOOPMEINERS - 6. Blocked two shots and had five clearances, although there were a few times that he pinched too far inside and let a runner free down his flank. Made a couple of good passes in the second half that contributed to the team’s strongest period. WESTON McKENNIE - 6.5. The goal was obviously a highlight, and he also worked as a provider, making three key passes. Defensively, he made a game-high five tackles and was part of the five-clearance triad in the back. Did a whole lot to keep Juve on the front foot in the second half, but his grade is dragged down by the fact that he missed on a full third of his pass attempts. VASILIJE ADZIC - 5. Didn’t quite click out there today. Rushed a few passages of play, especially that knee-volley, when he had a lot more time than he thought to bring the ball under control. He’s got oodles of talent, but still needs a lot of refinement. MANUEL LOCATELLI - 7. Talk about being everywhere. The captain had three key passes and blocked three shots, producing a ton on either end. Was able to put more of a stamp on the game when Juve were on the rampage in the second half. ANDREA CAMBIASO - 5. ............ FRANCISCO CONCEIÇÃO - 7. The only Juve player who did anything worth a damn in the first half, he could’ve scored a brace before the half despite the struggles of the rest of the team around him. Kenan Yildiz took over more in the second, but he still pushed the game on his side as well, finishing with the team lead in key passes (4), and had more dribbles than anyone in the starting XI (also 4). He missed out on the scoresheet more because of Nikita Haiken than anything else. FABIO MIRETTI - 6.5. Nominally an attacking midfielder in the first half, he looked far more dangerous making runs from deeper in midfield when he dropped back to make way for Yildiz at halftime. He was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet when Openda’s offside negated his goal, but he took it in stride and immediately combined with Yildiz again, this time to set himself up for the assist on McKennie’s goal. He also made three tackles—although he was a little reckless in getting booked early in the second half. If Miretti can establish himself as legitimate depth to Locatelli and Khéphren Thuram in the double pivot, it would open up a lot more options for rotation and tactical tweaks. LOÏS OPENDA - 6.5. Juve’s general malaise in the first half prevented him from being able to do his thing, but he came alive in the second. Juve were able to get some passes through to him so he could push the defense with pace, and he was well-positioned to take the deflected ball by Yildiz and fire it home. He had two key passes himself, too. Here’s hoping that goal starts getting him right mentally and builds him some momentum. SUBS KENAN YILDIZ - 8. I mean, come on. Yildiz took the game, turned it over, and shook it till its change came out of its pockets. He racked up five dribbles in just 45 minutes plus stoppage time, and it was clear Bodø didn’t have a defender who could contain him. Every time he faced up a player in yellow it looked like a video game, getting through them with almost contemptuous ease. He put three of four shots on target and was a major player in all three goals. The first and third came on ricochets from his shots, and his pass to Miretti sprung him for the assist on the second. He even shone on Miretti’s disallowed goal, being completely unselfish to square the ball to his onrushing teammate. KHÈPHREN THURAM - 6. ............ JUAN CABAL - 5. And the Alex Sandro Memorial Award for Boneheaded Defensive Mistakes goes to….Juan Cabal! I have no idea what he was doing on the tackle that led to the penalty—he did everything except what he had to do. His defense in general wasn’t more than a modest upgrade over what Cambiaso had been doing. He did make a critical block that kept the score tied in the 90th minute, but so much had gone wrong for him before that. JONATHAN DAVID - 6.5. Another excellent position to follow up a shot and wham it into the net, this one for the winner. With all the criticism and even transfer rumors swirling around this this had to feel good. Like Openda, the hope is that this will finally get him going a little instead of having to rely on Dusan Vlahovic. EDON ZHEGROVA - NR. ............ MANAGER ANALYSIS Spalletti followed through on his promise for rotation, making five changes from Saturday’s draw against Fiorentina. Miretti was a welcome change, and has hopefully earned himself some playing time, though it’s clear Adzic isn’t ready to grab the bar with both hands yet. Using Openda and eventually David saw them both hit the score sheet, and now Spalletti is going to have to take advantage of their momentum and keep it going. But it was Spalletti’s halftime choices that really won this game. Whatever he said inside is anyone’s guess—although one wonders why he didn’t pull this stuff out with the national team—it had the intended effect, as the entire team looked more sprightly and energetic. His insertion of Yildiz—who did need a rest after a grueling month of fixtures—was the clear turning point, though. This is another momentum moment for Yildiz, who had been scuffling a little of late, and needs to re-find his form. It was also, frankly, smart not to send on Dusan Vlahovic, as he had been taking a physical beating as well over the last month. ............ . Kenan Yildiz indispensable for Juventus, who must act fast on new contract Kenan Yildiz made the difference for Juventus against Bodo/Glimt last night, and we need to clarify a few things about his contract demands. The Turkish talent came off the bench in Norway and took his team by the hand, showing the right mentality and proposing moves of rare beauty. ............ All the theories on his renewal need to be dismantled by looking to the facts. It is fair that Yildiz has a long contract, but it is also entirely accurate to say that he deserves a vastly superior salary to the deal he is currently on. ............ It is natural to point out that, after proving his worth in the iconic Number 10 jersey, he ought to be locked down beyond all doubt. .
