Capello explains how Tudor turned Juventus around: ‘Rung the school bell’ Fabio Capello believes his former player Igor Tudor has already brought a new lease of life to Juventus after picking up seven points from his first three matches in charge, and suggests that the Croatian has found success after bringing back a sense of freedom and enjoyment to the Old Lady. ............ Juve are up to fourth in the Serie A table, and reports earlier in the week claim that the club are currently leaning towards a decision to extend Tudor’s contract so that he is in charge for the 2025-26 season as well. ............ Capello, who spent two years coaching Tudor during his time in charge of Juventus, insists that his former player is ‘more than just a journeyman’ and has explained how he has brought a positive atmosphere back to the Allianz Stadium in such a short space of time. “It’s like the Croatian has rung the school bell: Books under desks and everyone in the playground having fun,” Capello wrote. “The Tudor effect is there, and you can feel it. Igor amazes me, but most importantly, it seems that he likes the players. The Champions League race is still a long-shot, but in just over 20 days, the new Juventus coach has already achieved an important feat. Aside from the seven points in three games, he’s given much greater freedom to individuals.” ............ “Tudor knows Juventus and made choices that suit the club as soon as he returned to Turin. All the best players are on the pitch, beginning with Vlahovic, and in the positions most natural to them. “Yildiz has gone from the wing to a playmaker role, while McKennie has said goodbye to the trequartista role. Igor didn’t invent a magic formula, but he has demonstrated that he has the key skills to coach a big team: Common sense and practicality.” . Pellissier insists Vlahovic should not be missing the goals he misses Juventus is one of the biggest clubs in Europe and expects excellence from its players, especially those brought in to lead the team’s attack. In recent seasons, one name has generated more debate than most, Dusan Vlahovic. Once seen as a guaranteed star and the future of the Juventus frontline, his performances have not lived up to the high expectations set by the club and its supporters. ............ The Serbian striker has played under multiple managers in Turin and has not truly flourished under any of them. The current boss, Igor Tudor, has made tactical adjustments, but Vlahovic has not found the regular goalscoring form the club demands. His inability to take clear chances in key games has been a major concern and has sparked widespread criticism. Former Serie A striker Sergio Pellissier was blunt in his assessment of the forward’s recent form. He said: “Vlahovic? If I had missed the goals he missed, I would not have played anymore. Someone who plays for Juve cannot afford certain mistakes, otherwise you are not a Juve player. He missed a great opportunity, and 12 million a year is a lot. For that amount, you always have to make the difference.” ............ Pellissier’s comments reflect the growing frustration around Vlahovic’s performances. At a club where winning is part of the DNA, costly missed chances are not easily forgiven. Fans expect their striker to be decisive in front of goal, especially when games are tight. Every point matters, and Juventus has dropped too many this season due in part to a lack of cutting edge. There is also increasing pressure from the club hierarchy. With Juventus constantly evaluating the squad’s direction, decisions may need to be made in the summer. If Vlahovic cannot prove himself as the right striker for this system, the Bianconeri could choose to cash in and pursue alternatives like Jonathan David. ............ . Reports Juventus leaning towards Tudor extension for 2025-26 Monday’s reports claim that Juventus are already leaning towards a decision to appoint interim head coach Igor Tudor on a longer-term contract that will see him take charge of the club for the 2025-26 season. Tudor is the current head coach of Juventus after replacing Thiago Motta on a short-term contract in March. The former Bianconeri defender was given the job partly due to the fact that he was willing to accept a short-term deal until the end of the Club World Cup that runs from June to July. ............ There is an automatic extension clause in Tudor’s contract that will be triggered if the team achieves Champions League qualification by the end of the season. There is also, however, an option for Juve to terminate that agreement, which means that the ball still remains in the club’s court when it comes to appointing the next permanent head coach. ............ Regardless of contractual clauses, Tudor has impressed over his first three games in charge, with seven points from a maximum of nine earned so far following wins over Cagliari and Lecce with a 1-1 draw against the in-form Roma squeezed in between. ............ Tudor is already beginning to convince his employers in Turin, who are already beginning to consider ‘confirming’ the Croatian as the team’s head coach for 2025-26. ............ . Juventus name their price for Man City target Andrea Cambiaso Juventus are reportedly willing to part ways with Andrea Cambiaso next summer amidst interest from Manchester City. ............ The versatile player’s exploits prompted interest from Man City who identified him as the ideal profile to replace Kyle Walker in January. While a mid-season transfer never materialised, the Premier League giants are still keeping close tabs on the player, and many sources expect them to launch a new onslaught in the summer. ............ If Man City decide to table an offer worth €50 million for Cambiaso, it could be enough to convince Juventus. ............ The Italian is no longer considered ‘untouchable’ at Continassa, especially with his performances taking a dip in recent months (even though this can be attributed to his recurring injury problems). ............ As for Cambiaso, it remains to be seen if Man City will decide to go on the attack or turn to alternative profiles. . Legrottaglie explains how Tudor revived Juventus through a simple trick Former Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie has been impressed by his former teammate Igor Tudor whose simplistic approach is paying dividends. ............ The 46-year-old’s arrival breathed new life into a team that was in complete disarray. While they haven’t been able to register commanding victories, Juve have now regained a spot in the Top Four after collecting seven points out of a possible nine. ............ Therefore, Legrottaglie noted how Tudor has been able to revive his players, simply by playing them in their more natural roles. “Tudor was careful to put the players at ease and above all to place them in their preferred roles,” said the former Juventus defender. “Igor, in some ways, did what everyone expected. He deployed Koopmeiners in the position where he had done very well at Atalanta, and the early signs have been positive. Against Lecce, the Dutchman played well and found the goal. “The same goes for Nico Gonzalez who has been deployed on the right flank where he has had a completely different impact compared to when he was used on the left. “Ditto Thuram, who now plays much more inside the pitch, where he can be even more dominant. Yildiz himself, placed more central and close to the goal, becomes more decisive as proven by the goals he scored against Genoa and Lecce compared to when he was deployed on the wing.” ............ . Juventus want to keep versatile star but expect him improve his game Juventus would be happy to keep Timothy Weah beyond the current campaign, even though the latter must take his game up a notch. ............ The 25-year-old has featured in a host of playing roles this season between the reigns of Thiago Motta and Igor Tudor. In addition to his original roles as a winger, he also played as a centre-forward, a full-back and now a wingback, both on the left and right flanks. However, the American’s recent display against Lecce came under scrutiny, especially following Tudor’s public chastising. While the manager didn’t mention any names, he simply admitted he wasn’t happy with the performances of his substitutes. In addition to Weah, Randal Kolo Muani, Andrea Cambiaso, Francisco Conceicao and Nicolo Savona all come off the bench. ............ Tudor’s scolding wasn’t necessarily directed at Weah, whose display was a class above the others’. Juventus appreciate the winger for his versatility and discipline. He is also showing his adaptability, which should allow him to fit in almost any system. . That being said, they believe he still has large margins for improvement, so they expect him to raise his levels in order to become a true protagonist at the club. ............ . Tudor made Juventus training demand after 2-1 Lecce victory Juventus picked up an important 2-1 victory over Lecce in Serie A over the weekend, but Igor Tudor was not completely satisfied with what he saw from his players, explaining that he was ‘not happy’ with the second half substitutes, which led to a decision to call the first team squad back in early on Sunday. ............ Tudor postponed Juventus’s scheduled day off on Sunday, and brought his players back in for a recovery session and debrief instead. The break for the Bianconeri players was not completely cancelled, though: They will reportedly have a day off on Monday instead. ............ However, speaking at his post-match press conference, Tudor insisted that he wasn’t pleased with what he saw from his second-half substitutes, telling the media: “We have to grow quickly. Excuses are for everyone.” ............ . Read more -> https://football-italia.net/tudor-made-juventus-demand-after-2-1-lecce/

Three reasons why Juventus could confirm Tudor at the end of the season While Juventus are keen to secure a place in the Champions League next season, Igor Tudor knows fully well his job is on the line. ............ Tudor’s contract only runs until the end of the season, but it includes a renewal option in favour of the management. Obviously, this clause would only be triggered if the 46-year-old succeeds in guiding the club towards Europe’s elite club competition, but it should be noted that the club doesn’t have the obligation to activate it, as it is merely optional. ............ The first factor is the most obvious one: results. After all, this aspect is at the very essence of any sport. Since taking over from Motta, Tudor managed to halt the free fall, and has thus far collected seven out of nine possible points. The second aspect is tactical balance. The Bianconeri are looking more solid at the back, but they’re also going forward with numbers, while also making swift transitions, something that we rarely witnessed with Motta. Finally, Tudor has been a major upgrade on his predecessor in terms of communication. ............ . Juventus ready to reject lucrative EPL offers for Kenan Yildiz on one condition Juventus are reportedly willing to resist hefty offers for Kenan Yildiz in the summer, although this could depend on one key factor. ............ Igor Tudor immediately restored his status as an automatic starter, placing him in a more central role behind the striker. The teenager responded by scoring two brilliant goals in his three outings under the Croatian. ............ Juventus are now keen to maintain Yildiz amongst their ranks, even though they expect to receive lucrative offers from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City. ............ Champions League qualification as an elemental factor in this particular case. In other words, reaching Europe’s elite club competition would unlock major economic rewards for the club, which, in essence, would allow them to resist the temptation to cash in on the coveted wonderkid. On the other hand, missing out on the Champions League would leave them in a vulnerable place from a financial standpoint, thus opening the door for the departure of the Turkiye international, as well as other prized assets. ............ . What we learnt from Juventus’ win against Lecce Juventus claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Lecce in their most recent Serie A fixture, a result that will no doubt bolster their confidence as they aim to maintain momentum in the final stretch of the campaign. The win was particularly significant, considering they had failed to secure all three points in the reverse fixture earlier this season. With signs of improvement beginning to emerge under Igor Tudor, the Bianconeri are showing promise. Below are several key observations from the encounter. Juventus are regaining their ability to retain possession ............ Against Lecce, there was a noticeable improvement in the team’s ability to circulate the ball and maintain control of the game. Juventus dictated the tempo for large periods, demonstrating confidence and precision with their passing. This marked shift suggests that Tudor’s tactical adjustments are beginning to have a positive influence on the squad’s overall approach. A free Kenan Yıldız enhances Juventus’ attacking fluidity Kenan Yıldız continues to thrive under Igor Tudor’s leadership, and it is evident that the freedom afforded to him is unlocking another level in his game. Against Lecce, his movement and unpredictability in the final third consistently unsettled the opposition’s defence. Particularly during the first half, Yıldız’s roaming role allowed him to exploit spaces and create several opportunities, reaffirming that when he is not restricted to a fixed position, Juventus’ attack becomes far more dynamic and difficult to defend against. ............ Dusan Vlahović remains a concern within Tudor’s system While Igor Tudor has shown a willingness to place his trust in Dusan Vlahović, the Serbian striker appears to be struggling to adapt to the current tactical setup. Vlahović’s form in front of goal has been underwhelming, and his lack of impact in this match further raises questions about his suitability for the role he is being asked to play. ............ . Juventus seeking Renato Veiga discount as Chelsea set their price Juventus would like to keep Renato Veiga beyond his current loan spell, but they’ll be hoping to negotiate a lower price with Chelsea. ............ However, the original agreement between Juventus and Chelsea doesn’t include an option to buy, so as things stand, Veiga is set to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer. But there could be another round of negotiations on the horizon, as all parties are apparently open to finding an accord that would keep the Portugal international in Turin. ............ The Premier League giants are hoping to receive a transfer fee in the region of €20 million to part ways with the young defender. Chelsea certainly have a strong leverage on the situation thanks to a contract that runs until June 2029. Nevertheless, Juventus will be hoping to convince the Blues to lower their asking price. ............ . Latest updates on Koopmeiners & McKennie following injury scares On Saturday, Juventus were left with a couple of concerns following their win over Lecce, as Teun Koopmeiners and Weston McKennie had apparently picked up knocks. As reported earlier in the day, the Dutchman headed straight to the locker room after being hauled off in the middle of the second half in order to receive immediate treatment. ............ Koopmeiners left the pitch with a sore Achilles tendon. Moreover, McKennie, who accompanied him out of the game in the 67th minute, was complaining of muscle fatigue. As the source reveals, the two midfielders’ conditions were evaluated on Sunday morning at Continassa, and the assessment was rather positive. The duo are now expected to undergo therapy over the next few days in addition to differentiated work in training before rejoining their teammates in the preparation for next weekend’s contest against Parma. ............ Therefore, the shouldn’t be any alarm bells at Continassa, as Koopmeiners and McKennie should both recover in time for the trip to Parma, and they might even be fit enough to play from the get-go. The Bianconeri will clash heads with the Crociati at the Ennio Tardini on Monday, April 21st, so the Netherlands international and the USMNT star will be afforded an extra day to recover. ............ . Tudor gives Juventus locker room dressing-down; Here’s who infuriated the manager Juventus manager Igor Tudor had a go at some of his players after the 2-1 victory over Lecce on Saturday evening. ............ Although he admitted he was pleased with the victory, the 46-year-old wasn’t impressed with his substitutes. In the second half, Dusan Vlahovic was hooked off for Randal Kolo Muani, while Teun Koopmeiners left his place on the pitch while carrying a knock, with Andrea Cambiaso taking his place. Timothy Weah’s introduction completed the triple change, as he replaced his compatriot Weston McKennie in a direct swap. Later on, Francisco Conceicao was brought in for Nicolas Gonzalez, while Nicola Savona was a late substitution, coming in for Kenan Yildiz when Juventus were trying to repel a late Lecce onslaught. With the exception of Savona who was only on the pitch for a few minutes, the second-half substitutes failed to inspire, as the team looked increasingly worse as the contest wore on, as the Giallorossi pulled one back and almost grabbed an equalizer. ............ The former Verona and Lazio manager didn’t throw anyone under the bus in his post-match interview, but admitted his dissatisfaction with the substitutions. “I didn’t like the substitutes’ displays. I said it before in the locker room and I’ll repeat it here. “With the five substitutions, you now change half the team, and therefore, you have to be ready. I understand everything because I was a player too, but you have to grow quickly and put the team before everything.” ............ . Tudor has already dispelled Motta’s mentality by banishing a word at Juventus Although he’s only returned to the club less than a month ago, Igor Tudor has already made his presence felt at Juventus, as portrayed by the club’s first three displays under his stewardship. The 46-year-old knows the club inside out, having spent the bulk of his playing days in Turin. He also served as Andrea Pirlo’s assistant manager during the 2020/21 campaign. ............ But in addition to changing the mood at Contanissa, Tudor’s arrival also prompted a major tactical overhaul. The new manager has already erased the word ‘horizontal’ from the club’s vocabulary. During Motta’s ill-fated stint, Juventus often struggled to advance the play, instead settling for sterile horizontal passes that left their supporters frustrated. ............ But with Tudor now in charge, the team is no longer wasting time in possession, but instead opting for a direct approach, launching the ball forward with vertical plays. This noticeable change was illustrated by Juve’s two goals against Lecce on Saturday night. Kenan Yildiz’s winner over Genoa a couple of weeks ago was also a perfect depiction of the team’s new mentality. ............ . New injury scare for Juventus as midfielder leaves the pitch carrying a knock Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners reportedly left the field with a physical issue on Saturday night. The Dutchman marked his return to the starting lineup by scoring the opener in the 2-1 win against Lecce, thus raising his tally to three goals in Serie A since joining the club in the summer. ............ Koopmeiners left the pitch with a grimace as he seemed to be struggling with a physical problem. Moreover, the former Atalanta man didn’t join his teammates in the dugout, but headed straight to the locker room in order to allow the medical staff to have an immediate look. ............ The initial signs suggest the Netherlands international may have sustained a muscle problem. Therefore, he’ll be expected to undergo clinical tests in the coming tests to reveal the extent of this issue. ............ . Juventus 2 - Lecce 1: Initial reaction and random observations For much of the second half Saturday night, I was sitting in my recliner just hoping Juventus could score a third goal and basically put the nail in the coffin of any sort of grandiose Lecce comeback hopes ............ Unfortunately, Door No. 2 was there in the final minutes at the Allianz Stadium. The thoughts of “Don’t do this again, Juventus!” certainly flowing through your head or even popping up on your phone when a text comes in from a Juve friend. I had it happen. ............ Juventus saw their comfortable 2-0 halftime lead against Lecce turn into anything but that when the relegation battlers cut said Bianconeri advantage in half just a couple of minutes before stoppage time. The thoughts crept in, memories of what happened so many times under Thiago Motta returned in an instant, and the very potential of another “here we go again” moment came back to the fore. It was all there ... until it wasn’t. Juventus didn’t fully engage in another late-game blowup against Lecce, as Igor Tudor did what Motta’s squad couldn’t — record a win, this one of the 2-1 variety, rather than dropping points for a second time this season against one of the worst teams in Serie A that hasn’t won in 2 1⁄2 months. ............ Juventus were flat dominant in the first half Saturday night. It wasn’t just because Teun Koopmeiners scored a goal that was very reminiscent of what he did at Atalanta last season all of 96 seconds into the game. It wasn’t just because Kenan Yildiz capped off a beautiful passing combination to double Juventus’ lead 12 minutes before halftime. A lot of the good things that Juve did against Roma was the same against Lecce — they were direct, they pressured the opponent and won the ball back high up the field, they created some quality chances. It was all very positive. Plus, they did what they weren’t able to do against Roma last weekend: add onto their lead. With how well the first half went, you kinda figured another goal was on the way because Juve were playing a game in which it felt like Lecce really had no answer for. Sure, Lecce nearly tied the game moments after the Koopmeiners opener, but that’s about all they did of note during the opening 45 minutes. But that third Juventus goal never happened — and left the door open for potential late-game silliness. Juve weren’t as good as they were in the second half as they were to open the game. Be it a case of them going into cruise control or something else entirely, it’s hard to say. Lecce’s goal was one of the toughest shots of the night — it had an xG of 0.03 and needed to be hit perfectly to beat Michele Di Gregorio at the far post. But there was no reason for them to be a situation where they needed to hang on at the very end and sweat out this win. None. ............ All of this is to say that Juventus, with the win, are now in third place in the Serie A table, taking advantage of things being so tightly packed between third and eighth that getting three points can see you leapfrog a couple of teams just like that. Considering Atalanta and Bologna play each other in Sunday’s lunchtime fixture, it’s hard to say that Juve’s third-place standing will last for more than the next 15 or so hours. ............ It’s just another sign that Tudor’s doing what he was brought in to do — steady a very rocky ship and just pick up as many points as he can. That’s now seven points out of a possible nine in three games under Juve’s caretaker manager, so there’s not much more you could ask from somebody who was so clearly willing to help out a club he loves when it was needed. RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS Dusan Vlahovic may not be scoring any goals these days, but against Lecce he most certainly was setting things up for his teammates. That’s now three assists in three games for Vlahovic under Tudor. He’s now tied for the team lead in assists on the season. I can’t say that I had that on my bingo card when Juve hit mid-April, but here we are, my friends. ............ Speaking of guys who need to some good vibes to go their way, that goal right off the bat from Koopmeiners had to feel good. Like really, really good. Dude has had a tough season and you could just see that he was playing with some confidence and freedom again. That’s the version of Koopmeiners that Juventus signed last summer, and hopefully it’s the one that we see a few more times before the 2024-25 season comes to an end. The passing on the Yildiz goal. That’s the good stuff. Yildiz scoring goals is also pretty dang fun. He should keep doing that like he’s done in two of the first three games under Tudor. Two Yildiz goals, two wins for Juventus with Tudor. I like the sound of that. Through 30 minutes, Juventus had 67% of the possession. That’s less than last week at the same point in time of the proceedings. Slackers. Juventus had 69% possession in the first half. You know what that is. ............ Igor Tudor loves to quickly tossed the ball back to one of his players for an instant restart off the throw-in and it will never not make me laugh now. He’s a very intense guy on the sidelines — and you feel like that’s what this Juventus team needed at this delicate moment — and the way he wants to just get on with things after the ball goes out of play is fun. And also pretty entertaining since we’ve now seen it in every one of his games as manager. Khephren Thuram ... that boy good. Manuel Locatelli attempting a whopping 128 passes and completing 91% of them ... that’ll play. Yeah, that’ll do just fine. Keep that going, Manu. ............ In hindsight, he big did that early Di Gregorio save right at the near post end up being? Yeah, pretty important. Juventus won. They’re in third place for the next few hours. Good start to the weekend. Read more -> https://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2025/4/12/24406967/juventus-lecce-2025-serie-a-matchday-32-final-score-result-initial-reaction-random-observations

Locatelli sees new ‘energy’ at Juventus, while Kenan Yildiz has warning Manuel Locatelli says ‘the energy has changed’ at Juventus under Igor Tudor, while Kenan Yildiz warns ‘it is a must’ they qualify for the Champions League. The Bianconeri continued their positive streak with new coach Tudor, seeing off Genoa and Lecce, with the 1-1 draw away to Roma. Dusan Vlahovic failed to find the net, but he did provide the assists for both Teun Koopmeiners and Kenan Yildiz in the first half, as Juve put together some well-worked team moves. ............ “We are happy for the win, it was hard late on when they pressed us, but we’re pleased,” Kenan Yildiz said. “It is important to go into the Champions League, it is a must, so we have to continue our work and give our best, as always.” ............ “The energy has changed, we approach games with a lot of positive energy and that is what we need to keep doing. We had the chances to kill the game off earlier and conceded an avoidable goal, but we’re on the right track,” Locatelli said. “I saw it as more of a physical issue than anything else, as towards the end we lost sharpness and made avoidable mistakes. However, we brought home three fundamental points for us.” ............ “The Champions League spot is our objective, we must do everything to achieve it and win every game we have remaining.” . Tudor reveals he asked Juventus players for tactical ‘preference’ Igor Tudor reveals he asked his Juventus players where they prefer to play and ‘went with their sensations’ as well as bringing his own very different approach to Thiago Motta. ............ This evening saw two well-worked early goals with Dusan Vlahovic providing the assists for both Teun Koopmeiners and Kenan Yildiz, but a late Federico Baschirotto header on a free kick made it a surprisingly nervy finale in Turin. “We could’ve killed it off earlier, the last 10 minutes were bad. Khephren Thuram gave the ball away, then we conceded that goal and the lads got anxious,” Tudor said. “I don’t want people to think we’re unhappy with the result, we should take it as a lesson to be learned, also from the players who came off the bench. They need to give something more. “It was a good performance overall for 87 minutes, the first half very good, then some tension set in when they scored, but it’s fine. We go forward.” ............ “Koop needed a goal, he had a good game, I saw his legs and his mind working better today. He is on the right track,” said the coach. “Dusan sacrificed himself for the team, he had chances that he usually puts away, but it’s fine, he provided two assists for his teammates.” ............ “Psychologically it was a bad moment, as they went out of the Champions League and Coppa Italia, were coming off two really heavy defeats, so that’s obvious. Physically, every coach demands different things from his players, training sessions work well for some styles of football and not others,” explained the coach. “For the football I like, clearly there is a very particular physical preparation that is required, as I like more pace and covering the width of the field. You can win in many different ways, we each have our own, and naturally we train based on the style we’re after.” ............ When Andrea Cambiaso came off the bench, he was placed on the right flank, with Tim Weah going to the left. “Timothy prefers to play on the left, while Andrea I think actually does better on the right. It is how they feel most at ease, so I asked them and went with their sensations.” ............ “It was a lovely goal, that I can say, and we had two or three training sessions on how to develop those moves. It is important for me to work on these concepts that the players can enjoy, then it is up to them to bring their quality to the game.” ............ Considering the improvement, is Tudor thinking beyond the end of this season and to potentially extending his contract? “I always answer the same way, I am very happy to be on the Juventus bench, I take it one day at a time and that is all.” . Serie A | Juventus 2-1 Lecce: Koopmeiners back on track too Juventus got back to winning ways with Dusan Vlahovic providing assists for the well-worked Teun Koopmeiners and Kenan Yildiz goals, beating Lecce 2-1. ............ It took barely 100 seconds to break the deadlock, as Dusan Vlahovic weighted his through ball perfectly for Koopmeiners, who got down the left to drill in the left-foot angled drive from eight yards. It was the ideal way to celebrate his return to the starting XI. Lecce responded immediately, as Nikola Krstovic’s daisy-cutter from distance bounced off the upright, with Michele Di Gregorio also ready on the rebound. ............ The second Juventus goal was a wonderful team move. Khephren Thuram surged forward, completed a give and go with Kenan Yildiz, then Vlahovic laid it off for the Turkish talent to sweep into the far bottom corner with the inside of the right boot from the edge of the area. Nico Gonzalez saw his chest and volley go wide on the Locatelli dinked pass, then Falcone got down for a crucial one-handed save on Lloyd Kelly’s angled drive, doing enough to stop Vlahovic turning in the rebound. ............ Andrea Cambiaso came off the bench and forced a very difficult one-handed Falcone save with his left-foot scorcher from outside the box. Di Gregorio had to come flying off his line to deny Ante Rebic after a Thuram error gifted the Lecce chance late on. The visitors got one back to set up a tense finale in Turin, as Thorir Helgason whipped a free kick into the box for the acrobatic Federico Baschirotto header, which looped in beyond Di Gregorio’s fingertips. It became surprisingly nervy, with Helgason just failing to get control of the Konan N’Dri pull-back from the by-line. ............ . Dominant Juventus sees off Lecce despite late scare from the visitors Juventus secured a vital 2-1 victory over Lecce this evening, keeping their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League very much alive. In a tightly contested Serie A campaign, results such as this are crucial, especially against opponents they were previously unable to beat. Having been held to a draw by Lecce in the reverse fixture, the Bianconeri were well aware that this was a match they needed to win. ............ Juventus signalled their intent from the outset, with an early breakthrough setting the tone. Within the opening two minutes, Teun Koopmeiners opened the scoring, bringing the Allianz Stadium to life and offering the perfect start for the hosts. However, Lecce, known for their unpredictability and resilience, almost responded immediately, coming close to levelling the score. Despite this, Juventus remained dominant and continued to press forward, looking to extend their lead. ............ It was evident that the team had begun to fully embrace Igor Tudor’s tactical philosophy. The cohesion and urgency in their play suggested a renewed sense of belief under the new manager. That momentum was rewarded when Kenan Yildiz found the net to double the advantage. McKennie among 13 players named in illegal gambling probe United States midfielder Weston McKennie is among 13 soccer players being investigated for illegal online betting in Italy, according to widespread media reports. A new investigation by Milan prosecutors stems from evidence given by Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Fagioli in 2023. Both then served lengthy bans, ruling them out for most of last season, after agreeing to plea bargains that also included therapy for a gambling addiction. ............ The duo are also named in the new investigation, along with Fagioli's then-Juventus teammate McKennie and nine other current or former Serie A players, as well as Leeds defender Junior Firpo. There is no evidence that the other players ever gambled on soccer matches but their names emerged from depositions given by Tonali and Fagioli and analysis of their devices. ............ The players are being investigated for using illegal platforms for online poker and betting on other sports. As such they do not risk a ban but instead a maximum fine of 250 euros ($284) from Italian authorities. ............ .
