  1. How Juventus could line up under former Italy CT Spalletti The latest updates suggest that Luciano Spalletti is the current frontrunner to become the new head coach of Juventus following the sacking of Igor Tudor, but how would the former Italy CT line up with the Bianconeri, and which tactics would he look to deploy? ............ Several coaches have already been linked with a move to the Allianz Stadium, including Raffaele Palladino and Roberto Mancini, but Spalletti is considered the current frontrunner, and has already been in direct talks with the club. ............ Spalletti has deployed a number of different formations across his recent spells in charge of the Italy national team, Napoli and Inter. Most recently, Spalletti played with a 3-5-1-1 during his final matches in charge of the Italy national team, given that he had plenty of midfielders. ............ With Napoli, a 4-3-3 built around centre-forward Victor Osimhen and left winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was the norm during Spalletti’s Scudetto-winning season in 2022-23. With Inter, a 4-2-3-1 was Spalletti’s usual go-to, and, given the options currently available at Juventus, it would make sense if he deployed that same system in Turin. ............ Given that the current Juventus squad is not blessed with an abundance of central midfield options, it would make sense to see Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram keep their places in a double-pivot. There would then be several options to deploy in the no.10 role, including posterboy Kenan Yildiz, summer signing Jonathan David and the out-of-favour Teun Koopmeiners, all of whom offer different qualities. ............ (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio; Joao Mario, Kalulu, Bremer, Cambiaso; Locatelli, Thuram; Conceicao, David, Yildiz; Vlahvoic. . 2. Luciano Spalletti open to Juventus job as contract talks begin Former Italy boss Luciano Spalletti has given Juventus the initial ‘yes’, as the two parties begin negotiating an agreement. The Serie A giants have announced the sacking of Igor Tudor on Monday morning, and the appointment of Juventus Next Gen manager Massimo Brambilla as caretaker coach. ............ In an exclusive for Juve FC, highly esteemed Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà revealed that Spalletti is the club’s preferred candidate for the role, while Raffaele Palladino and Roberto Mancini are the fallback options. Pedullà has now followed up on this news, revealing that Juventus and Spalletti are already in direct contact. ............ The source reveals that the 66-year-old has already confirmed his availability for the role, so it remains to be seen if the two parties will manage to find a full accord. The former Roma, Inter and Napoli boss has reportedly asked for a contract until June 2027, but he’s also willing to consider a short-term deal until the end of the season. Juventus are obviously inclined towards the latter solution, as they still have Thiago Motta and Tudor on their payroll. ............ In the meantime, Brambilla is overseeing the club’s preparations for Wednesday’s home contest against Udinese. At this stage, it remains unclear if the Italian manager will remain in charge for the weekend trip to Cremona, as it hinges on the outcome of the club’s managerial search. ............ . 3. Juventus identify Spalletti as the favourite to replace Tudor Luciano Spalletti has emerged as the early frontrunner for the vacant Juventus job following Igor Tudor’s sacking on Monday. ............ The club has temporarily appointed Juventus Next Gen manager, Massimo Brambilla, as caretaker, but his time with the first team is only expected to last a few days, before a permament manager arrives in Turin. But who will it be? ............ At this stage, we can confirm that Juve’s first option remains Luciano Spalletti. The vastly experienced coach is all too familiar with managing top Serie A clubs; He has two separate tenures at Roma, one at Inter, and famously led Napoli to their first Scudetto title in 33 years back in 2023. ............ Spalletti was made redundant in June following a forgettable experience with the Italian national team, but Juventus consider him the ideal solution for the role, as he would implement a 4-2-3-1 formation that would suit the current squad. Raffaele Palladino represents the second option, as he could be less costly than Spalletti. Moreover, the former Monza and Fiorentina has been offered to the Turin-based giants, and is willing to accept a contract until the end of the season with an option for an extension. ............ . 4. Two frontrunners emerge for Juventus job as Tudor sacked Multiple sources claim that Luciano Spalletti and Raffaele Palladino are the leading candidates to replace Igor Tudor, who was sacked by Juventus this morning. ............ Spalletti was sacked by the Italy national team in June, while Palladino left Fiorentina by mutual consent at the end of the 2024-25 campaign. ............ Juventus confirmed Tudor’s sacking with an official statement on Monday morning after the team had lost three consecutive matches and failed to score in the last four. ............ Juventus also confirmed that Massimiliano Brambilla, the NextGen coach, will lead the team in the next two days and be in charge when the Old Lady host Udinese in the next Serie A game on Wednesday. ............ . 5. Juventus player ratings vs Udinese: Gatti saves the day In what could be his solitary match in charge, Massimo Brambilla steered Juventus back to winning ways, as they overcame a resilient Udinese side at the Allianz Stadium. ............ Nevertheless, the Bianconeri were determined to end their eight-match winless run that cost Igor Tudor his job, and they eventually retook the lead through Federico Gatti, while Kenan Yildiz confirmed the victory with a late penalty. So here are are player ratings for Juventus, who earned an important 3-1 win over Udinese while awaiting Luciano Spalletti’s arrival. Juventus (3-4-1-2) Michele Di Gregorio – 6 ............ Pierre Kalulu – 6.5 The Frenchman looked much more at ease in his natural position at the back, but still made occasional attacking forays, and tested Okeye with a powerful shot. Federico Gatti – 7.5 A glorious evening for the Italian defender who scored the all-important second Juventus goal with a powerful header. He was also a rock at the back, making several key interventions. Lloyd Kelly – 6 ............ Andrea Cambiaso – 6.5 The versatile wing-back initially struggled to deliver good balls to the box, but ended up providing a sublime assist for Gatti’s goal. Weston McKennie – 7 ............ Manuel Locatelli – 6 ............ Filip Kostic – 6 The Serbian’s return to the starting lineup was largely fruitful, posing a menacing presence down the left flank. He also denied Arthur Atta on a few occasions, but perhaps should have done better to close down Zaniolo on the equaliser. Kenan Yildiz – 7.5 The Turkish youngster is the beating heart of this Juventus side, and Brambilla placed him in a role that allowed him to express his astounding potential. Set up Vlahovic on a few occasions, and tested Okeye with a dangerous shot, before winning and converting a late spot-kick. Loic Openda – 6 ............ Dusan Vlahovic – 7 The former Fiorentina star looked like a man possessed. Scored a spot-kick he won himself, and could have added a couple more, but was impeded by his weaker right foot. Nevertheless, his grit and determination to win back possession were a refreshing sight. Substitutes Jonathan David – N/A Teun Koopmeiners – N/A Daniele Rugani – N/A . 6. Juventus 3 - Udinese 1: Initial reaction and random observations Even if it’s just going to be for one game, Massimo Brambilla can say he did something that Igor Tudor wasn’t able to do for the better part of the last two months. That is, ya know, actually get Juventus over the finish line and win a game. For the first time since Sept. 13, Juve are on the right side of a final score. No, seriously. This isn’t some kind of crazy or satire kind of write-up with Halloween on the horizon later this week. Juventus, thanks to second-half goals from Federico Gatti and Kenan Yildiz, turned what could have been another leg in this frustrating run of form that cost Tudor his job after Udinese tied things up right before the half into a 3-1 win on a rainy Wednesday night at the Allianz Stadium that handed the Bianconeri their first win in 40 days. A whole hell of a lot has happened between then and now — an eight-game winless run, four straight games without a goal for the first time since 1991, a manager getting fired. But all of that is now in the past tense because Juventus finally won a game again. ............ That’s the crazy thing about how all of this has gone down. Even with Juventus not winning a Serie A fixture in over a month, they aren’t totally detached from the race for the top four. They aren’t — and this win just proves that. Yes, of course, Luciano Spalletti has his work cut out for him if he actually wants to get Juventus into the top four and keep them there the rest of the 2025-26 season, but they’re most certainly in the mix even with everything that happened in the final six weeks of Tudor’s short run as manager. But when it comes to how things went after Udinese tied things up right before the half, Juventus’ second-half response to it was about as good as you could have hoped for a squad that is clearly shaken on the confidence front. After Udinese’s early push to try and get ahead right out of the break, Juventus pretty much owned the rest of the second half. Juve outshot Udinese a whopping 17-4 over the course of the second half, and got a deserved lead with Gatti’s header that certainly felt like a weight lifted off a lot of shoulders, including the man who scored it. Add in Yildiz’s penalty kick — which he did a great job to initially win after losing the ball in the penalty area just a couple of seconds earlier — and Juventus scored as many goals in Wednesday night’s game as they did in the previous six games combined. Which, I don’t know about everybody else, felt like a weight off this team’s shoulders on top of the simple fact of winning. ............ Just like he did with the Next Gen squad upon his return last season, Brambilla must have just sprinkled a little bit of that magic dust he has and gotten things back to their winning ways. At least for one night — which, considering Spalletti is pretty much a press release away from being Juve’s new manager, is probably all the Brambilla magic the senior squad is going to get the rest of this season. RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS But hey, we can say this: Juventus are undefeated with Massimo Brambilla as their manager. Take that, haters. Then again, this was the same team that was booed off the field at halftime. That felt rather appropriate for these current Juventus times and how they went into the half having just given up the lead. ............ This is the part of the post in which we show some praise to Dusan Vlahovic, who scored the first of Juventus’ two penalty kicks on the night. It was a cool finish from a guy who has been pretty good from the spot in recent attempts, and was the beginning of an overall pretty good night or the Juve No. 9. It’s somewhat encouraging to see Vlahovic out there working in a relentless kind of way despite everything else going on at the club these days. Of course, he’s fighting for his next contract wherever that may be, but he’s got the right kind of on-field spirit and work rate lately that hopefully can be a little more contagious on this squad. ............ I just want to repeat that Yildiz winning that ball back that led to the second penalty knowing full well he’s playing a full 90 minutes up to that point and has dealt with a minor knee issue in recent days is just so refreshing to see. He’s the star of this team, yet there he is making the play that puts the game away. Plus, you know, then stepping up to the penalty spot and smashing the PK home. That had to feel good. It’s the year 2025 and Filip Kostic has just finished as one of Juventus’ highest-rated players on Sofascore. I’m being 10000000% serious, folks. You can see it for yourself. In Kostic’s defense, he did play well. This wasn’t a classic game where he just piles up empty stats that mask what was an average performance. The man had six key passes against Udinese. SIX! ............ Federico Gatti’s form ever since he may or may not have gotten a little more hair on the top of his head — pretty good! Keep it that way, Cats. Juve need you with Bremer still out a few more weeks. ............ It’s Brambilla mania. Catch it while you can. Was that Andrea Cambiaso’s best game in months? I ask because it kinda felt that way. Juventus had 25 shots! I can’t get over this. A 3-1 final score could have been much, much more than that if not for some of those saves Okoye made in goal for Udinese. That save at the near post early in the second half by Michele Di Gregorio turned out to be rather important, didn’t it? ............ Now we wait for the official Spalletti announcement and the pictures of him on the training field at Continassa for the first time. Gonna be an interesting first few weeks for Juve’s new coach. 7. Massimo Brambilla gives his reaction to Juventus beating Udinese Juventus’ interim manager, Massimo Brambilla, expressed his delight after guiding the Bianconeri to a much-needed victory over Udinese this evening. The result marked an important moment for the club, who had been enduring a difficult spell before this fixture. Having stepped in following the dismissal of Igor Tudor, Brambilla oversaw a performance that restored both belief and confidence among the players. ............ Juventus entered the encounter under pressure to end their winless streak, which had stretched to eight matches before this fixture. The players responded impressively, producing an energetic display that ultimately secured a 3-1 victory. Goals from Dusan Vlahovic, Federico Gatti and Kenan Yildiz sealed the result, rewarding Brambilla’s calm and encouraging approach. The team’s strong start was crucial in setting the tone for the evening. Despite conceding late in the first half, Juventus regrouped effectively and showed greater composure after the interval. The win was not only significant for the points gained but also for the psychological lift it provided, demonstrating that the squad remains united and capable of responding positively to adversity. ............ Speaking after the match, Brambilla shared his thoughts on managing the first team and the steps he took to prepare for the occasion. He said: “I trained, I spent two days with the team. On Monday morning I had training with the Under-23s, and then I came over here in the afternoon. I tried to instill confidence and reassure the lads, but they’re strong, experienced players. They know what they have to do, and I think they deserved the win today with a great performance. Then again, that first-half goal could have ruined the evening, because conceding a goal in injury time can complicate things. Instead, we entered the second half with confidence and courage, and I don’t think there’s anything to complain about the victory.” ............ . 9. Post-Tudor Juventus beat Udinese to end poor run of form Juventus returned to winning ways with an important 3-1 victory over Udinese this evening, ending a disappointing run of eight consecutive matches without a win. The Bianconeri, playing under the guidance of an interim manager, showed renewed determination and spirit as they finally secured three crucial points. The result provided a much-needed lift for both players and supporters after a challenging period marked by inconsistency and frustration. From the opening minutes, Juventus displayed a sense of urgency that had been missing in previous games. Their positive start was rewarded after just five minutes when Dusan Vlahovic confidently converted a penalty to give Juve an early lead. The Serbian striker once again demonstrated his composure in front of goal. ............ Despite that setback, Juventus maintained its intensity and continued to push forward. The performance suggested that the players were eager to respond positively after the recent managerial change, as though they had been waiting for a fresh start to show their true potential. However, Udinese gradually grew into the contest, gaining confidence as the first half progressed. Their persistence was rewarded when Nicolo Zaniolo equalised late in the opening period, leaving Juventus once again facing familiar doubts. ............ Juventus came out in the second half with renewed focus and began to dominate possession, pressing forward in search of the breakthrough. Federico Gatti provided the crucial second goal, putting the Bianconeri back in front and restoring belief among the players. ............ Their persistence was rewarded once more when they earned a second penalty, which Kenan Yildiz calmly converted to make it 3-1. The goal sealed a deserved victory and underlined a much-improved performance from a side desperate to regain confidence. . 10. Player ratings: Juventus 3-1 Udinese – Yildiz puts the cherry on top Juventus picked up their first victory since September 13 with a 3-1 Serie A victory against Udinese under interim head coach Massimo Brambilla on Thursday evening, with Kenan Yildiz once again putting in one of Juve’s better performances. ............ The Juve no.10 won and converted a penalty in second-half injury-time, which followed Bianconeri goals from Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Gatti. Nicolo Zaniolo had made it 1-1 moments before half-time. ............ Juventus 3-1 Udinese – Player ratings Juventus: Di Gregorio 6; Kalulu 6, Gatti 6.5, Kelly 6; Cambiaso 6, McKennie 6, Locatelli 6, Kostic 6.5; Yildiz 7; Openda 6.5, Vlahovic 6.5. Best Juventus player: Yildiz 7 – Yildiz continues to show why he is rated so highly in Bianconeri circles. He tested Okoye with a few shots from distance, but showed that he is capable of creating chances for himself from nothing. Should have made it 3-1 in injury time, but then won and converted a penalty that did restore his side’s two-goal advantage a few moments later. Coach: Massimo Brambilla 6.5 – Difficult circumstances for the interim Juventus head coach, who has only had since Monday to prepare the team following the sacking of Igor Tudor. The goal drought is over, though, and the team responded well despite the Udinese equaliser just before half-time. Not the most thrilling of Juventus performances by any means, but a valuable three points have been secured. ............ Udinese: Okoye 5; Goglichidze 4, Kabasele 6, Solet 6; Ehizibue 6, Piotrowski 5.5, Karlstrom 6, Atta 6, Kamara 6; Zaniolo 6.5, Davis 5. ............ Best Udinese player: Zaniolo 6.5 – ............ . 11. Serie A | Juventus 3-1 Udinese: Managerless Old Lady rediscovers success Juventus started the post-Igor Tudor era with their first win in over a month, as Dusan Vlahovic, Federico Gatti and Kenan Yildiz dismantled Udinese. The Bianconeri were under caretaker manager Massimo Brambilla, the coach of their Next Gen team, after Monday’s sacking of Igor Tudor and three consecutive defeats in all competition. ............ It was a lightning start for the Old Lady, as in the opening minutes Openda found Vlahovic, brought down by Saba Goglichidze for a penalty which the Serbian converted successfully. ............ However, Udinese equalised in first half stoppages when Juve got into a tangle playing their way out from the back, and after Buksa’s effort was charged down into his path, Zaniolo took a touch before bending the left-foot finish into the far bottom corner. ............ Juve responded, a defensive block decisive to stop Openda’s back-heel flick from four yards. On the resulting corner, Openda again had an effort charged down in the penalty area. ............ On the resulting corner, Andrea Cambiaso floated a cross to the back post for Federico Gatti’s header from a tricky angle, surprising Okoye. ............ Kenan Yildiz hit a solo effort that again tested the Udinese goalkeeper, then his low finish through Goglichidze’s legs clipped the base of the upright. ............ Kenan Yildiz fired over when he could’ve rolled across for substitute Jonathan David, then went on a slalom in the penalty area and went down in a coming together with Goglichidze. Initially, the referee had given a foul against the Juve man, but saw on the VAR review that it was the Turkish talent who got there first. Kenan Yildiz converted the penalty himself to end this negative Bianconeri streak. Juventus 3-1 Udinese Vlahovic pen 5 (J), Zaniolo 45 (U), Gatti 67 (J), Kenan Yildiz pen 96 (J) . 13. Chiellini: ‘Spalletti a modern coach, tough Juventus decision to sack Tudor’ Juventus advisor Giorgio Chiellini confirms Luciano Spalletti is ‘a great coach with experience and a modern style of football’ after the ‘tough decision’ to sack Igor Tudor. ............ “I think that Tudor should be thanked for having done important work, as last season he took us into the Champions League,” Chiellini said. “This was a decision shared within the club. We think that the team can do well.” ............ “I think Spalletti is a great coach, with experience and a modern style of football. We have to wait, because there is no signature yet, so let us focus on trying to pick up points today,” replied Chiellini. “I also wish to thank Brambilla, who is allowing us to go into this game with focus and look to the future. “It was a tough decision, because it is not in the DNA of Juventus to make a change so early, and there is disappointment considering how much the coach cares about this club.” added Chiellini. ............ Juventus are making changes behind the scenes too, because they are expected to appoint a new director of sport soon. “There will be a new director of sport in the next few weeks, because we are lacking that figure,” confirmed Chiellini. .
