Why Juventus has decided not to fight Napoli for De Bruyne Kevin De Bruyne could be set for a sensational move to Napoli, with reports suggesting the Belgian is edging closer to a transfer to the reigning Italian champions. While several clubs were expected to show serious interest, it seems Napoli may have a clear path to secure his signature after Juventus chose not to advance their pursuit. De Bruyne remains one of the most accomplished midfielders in world football and still believes he has what it takes to perform at the highest level in Europe. ............ Despite keeping tabs on the midfielder, Juventus has surprisingly pulled back from making a concrete offer. Their decision has raised eyebrows, especially given De Bruyne’s proven quality and experience at the top of European football. However the club’s hesitancy stems from concerns over the financial package that would be required. Juventus has begun shifting focus toward younger talents as part of their ongoing squad rebuild. Although they have previously targeted older, established stars, the club’s current project is centred on long-term growth. They believe De Bruyne’s wage demands would be excessive and are instead prioritising cost-effective signings with development potential. ............ For Juventus, missing out on a player like De Bruyne could be a gamble. However, their decision underlines a commitment to a new direction. As they rebuild, the choice to focus on youth may be the right long-term strategy, even if it means missing out on one of the finest midfielders in the modern era. . Does Juventus have the resources to make Conte happy if he joins them? Just hours after securing the Scudetto with Napoli, Antonio Conte may already be on the verge of an exit from Naples. While the city continues to celebrate a memorable league triumph, speculation is growing that Juventus are preparing to make a move for the highly regarded manager. ............ For the moment, Igor Tudor is expected to remain in charge of the Juventus first team, with plans in place for him to oversee the Club World Cup. However, beyond that tournament, the situation could evolve quickly. Juventus are reportedly serious about bringing Conte back to Turin, a move that would likely be met with enthusiasm by the supporters. Nonetheless, the club must consider whether they can meet the demands typically associated with hiring Conte. Known for his uncompromising approach and clear expectations, he is a manager who requires strong backing in the transfer market. Juventus fans would undoubtedly welcome his return, but fulfilling his requirements may prove challenging. ............ Conte’s reputation for being firm on recruitment is well documented. When he identifies a player he wants, he expects to sign him. If such conditions are not met, he is known to walk away. It was partly for this reason that Juventus opted against approaching him earlier in the year. ............ . Michel Platini admits Conte’s return will be great for Juventus After leading Napoli to the Scudetto in his first season, Antonio Conte may not stay in Naples much longer. Reports suggest Juventus is considering a move to bring him back to Turin, acknowledging that they made a mistake by not appointing him last summer. ............ Juventus have endured another turbulent campaign and believe Conte is the man to restore stability and bring back their winning mentality. The Bianconeri know that Conte is capable of building competitive teams quickly, as demonstrated by his instant success in Naples. ............ Michel Platini has weighed in on the possibility of Conte returning to Juventus. The former Juve great said: “Antonio remains an important figure in the Juventus imagination. If he returned to Turin, it would be great, given what he managed to do in Naples. But I don’t want to meddle by putting my mouth in the club’s plans. Now there’s Tudor, a very good coach. In any case, I think that it’s not the coaches who write the history of clubs, but the players. To return to winning ways, Juve must be able to count on strong profiles.” ............ . Juventus could learn Conte’s stand on his Napoli future today Juventus are keen to make Antonio Conte their manager, and this is one of the worst-kept secrets in football. Conte currently coaches Napoli and has just led them to the Serie A title, but history suggests he may not stay long after such success. He has a reputation for moving on after winning titles, having done so before at Juventus. The club will not be surprised if he chooses to leave Napoli and return to Turin. Last summer, Juventus had the chance to bring Conte back, but instead chose Thiago Motta as their manager. ............ It was expected that he would inform the club of his intention to leave, which would clear the way for Juventus to secure his services. This meeting could bring clarity to a situation that has been the subject of much speculation. ............ For Juventus, signing Conte would be a major coup. The club is looking to rebuild and return to the top of Italian and European football, and Conte is seen as the right man for the job. Napoli will want to part ways amicably and find a suitable replacement quickly to continue their success. Meanwhile, Conte’s decision will shape the next chapter in his managerial career and could have a big impact on both clubs. ............ . Buffon praises Di Gregorio for how his first Juventus season went Gigi Buffon understands better than most what it takes to be a top goalkeeper at Juventus, having spent more than a decade as the club’s number one. His opinion carries weight, especially when it comes to assessing the talent of those who follow in his footsteps. ............ It has not been a smooth campaign for Juventus, which has faced several managerial changes and periods of inconsistent form. Despite the instability, Di Gregorio has done well in his first season at one of Europe’s most demanding clubs. ............ Buffon recently spoke about the young goalkeeper’s performances and was full of praise. He said: “I see him very well. It wasn’t easy to take over from someone like Szczesny, especially for someone in his first season at a big club. And I especially like how he behaves in difficult moments: there are those who sink, he holds his ground.” Those words carry significance, particularly coming from a legend like Buffon. ............ . Juventus contacts Real Madrid to sign attacker on loan Endrick is one of the most exciting young talents in world football, but his future at Real Madrid is far from certain. With the Spanish giants welcoming new manager Xabi Alonso and adding more firepower to their already stacked attack, the Brazilian teenager could find it difficult to get regular minutes on the pitch. Since arriving at Real Madrid, Endrick has had limited opportunities to impress. Under Carlo Ancelotti, he found it difficult to break into the first team and often remained on the bench, with the club’s star-studded attack leaving little room for a youngster to grow. ............ Juventus is monitoring the situation closely. The Bianconeri are preparing for a summer of changes in attack, with the futures of Dusan Vlahovic and Randal Kolo Muani uncertain. The club wants to build a dynamic forward line and sees Endrick as a player who could add flair and unpredictability. . Juventus has already made contact with Real Madrid about a potential loan deal for Endrick. They believe that bringing in a player of his calibre, even temporarily, would boost their chances of challenging for silverware next season. ............ . Juventus increasingly confident about signing Conte – Can he arrive before Club World Cup? Juventus are reportedly highly optimistic in their chances of appointing Antonio Conte as their head coach for next season, or perhaps even earlier. The 55-year-old is coming off another sensational achievement after managing to guide Napoli towards an unlikely Scudetto triumph at the first time of asking. But despite being tied to a three-year contract, the Lecce native won’t be forced to stay at the Stadio Maradona against his will, at least based on the most recent statements made by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis. ............ Therefore, most sources in the Italian media agree that Conte is on his way out of Naples, and that the decision will be made official following a summit with the club patron this week. ............ Moreover, these same sources expect the decorated manager to make his long-awaited return to Turin. Juventus are increasingly confident in their ability to lure their former captain and manager for another tenure. ............ There’s a good chance we see Conte taking the reins prior to the global tournament, which kicks off on June 14th. The next few days should shed some light on this peculiar situation. . “Only an outburst” – Tudor’s agent backtracks on controversial statement, reveals Juventus plans The agent of Juventus manager Igor Tudor insists that his client has no plans to leave the club before the FIFA Club World Cup. ............ So after helping Juventus achieve their main objective, a frustrated Tudor insisted he doesn’t want to guide the Bianconeri in the Club World Cup if he’s destined to leave afterwards. However, the manager’s agent, Antony Seric, has now come out to calm the storm and deny his client’s intention to leave the club immediately. ............ “Yesterday was only an outburst from Tudor dictated by the tension for the objective achieved not without difficulty, but in a climate of great serenity within the club,” said the agent in his interview. “Igor has an excellent relationship with Giuntoli and all the members of the club: after the hot interviews, he and Cristiano [Giuntoli] had a chat. Igor will respect the commitment he made to lead Juve to the Club World Cup.” ............ Seric insists Tudor will allow the club to calmly reflect on his future before handing a final decision. “He will not rush the club in any way on his future choice because he clearly hopes to still be able to be Juve’s coach next season and he will respect the timing of the choice. “In fact, nothing different has been communicated to him. Tudor feels like a Juventus player on the inside. He has worked with great passion and professionalism in recent months, demonstrating the great bond he has with the Juve world.” . Comolli tipped for key role in Juventus board overhaul Toulouse president Damien Comolli could become a key figure on Juventus’ new-look board, as the Bianconeri prepare for a major overhaul that is also expected to include the appointment of a new head coach following Igor Tudor’s departure. Comolli, who previously held roles at Arsenal, Tottenham, and Liverpool, was linked with a move to Milan last season. However, Gerry Cardinale ultimately decided against hiring him, opting to keep the Rossoneri’s management team intact. ............ Speculation is growing around Comolli’s potential arrival at the Allianz Stadium, where he would take on a prominent role in the club’s hierarchy alongside Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini. ............ Together, Comolli and Chiellini would be tasked with shaping a new era at Juventus — and one of their first key decisions could involve appointing Antonio Conte. ........... . Manuel Locatelli explains why he decided to step up for decisive Juventus penalty Juventus captain Manuel Locatelli tells how he felt the obligation to convert the crucial spot-kick himself in Sunday’s contest in Venice. The Bianconeri had to beat Venezia on the final day of the Serie A campaign to remain ahead of Roma and Lazio and book their place in the Champions League next season. ............ Francisco Conceicao cleverly won a spot-kick while attempting to dribble Hans Nicolussi Caviglia. The fans expected either Kolo Muani or Yildiz to step up, but instead, it was Locatelli who decided to convert the penalty. The skipper sent an excellent shot to the top corner. Although Andrei Radu had guessed it correctly, the power and precision took it beyond his reach. This proved to be the decisive goal that settled an epic race for fourth place. ............ “I congratulate all the lads, we gave it our all,” said the midfielder in his post-match interview. “I am happy and proud to have scored this penalty, I am the captain and I had to take this responsibility. “I’m happy with this victory and with qualifying for the next Champions League, which was our goal.” . Igor Tudor says his future at Juventus will be decided before the Club World Cup After helping Juventus secure Champions League football for next season on Sunday night in Venice, it appears as though interim manager Igor Tudor has drawn a line in the sand when it comes to his future at the club. ............ During his post-match media availability on Sky Italia following Juve’s 3-2 win over Venezia that secured a fourth-place finish and Champions League qualification, Tudor said that he will discuss his future with the club “very soon.” On top of that, Tudor essentially said that it makes no sense for him to manage Juventus at the Club World Cup if he is not confirmed as the head coach for next season — which goes against something that we’ve heard from the club’s management for much of the last couple of weeks and again from Chief Football Officer Cristiano Giuntoli after Sunday night’s game that Juve will decide on their next manager after their participation in the tournament. ............ Here are Tudor’s words regarding his future as Juventus’ manager beyond Sunday night’s season finale: It had also been previously reported in the days leading up to him officially signing with the club that Tudor’s hiring on a short-term caretaker basis included being manager at the summer tournament that will see Juve play at least three games in the United States. Juventus begin group play at the Club World Cup against Al Ain FC from the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday June 18, at Audi Field in Washington D.C. Tudor has every right to both know what the future holds for him at Juventus and the stance to not be a lame duck coaching Juventus at the Club World Cup when he already would know somebody is coming in to take his job once the tournament is over. ............ With rumors spinning that a certain former Juventus manager — and teammate of Tudor’s during his playing days in Turin — might be leaving Naples after leading Napoli to the Scudetto this season, the Bianconeri might be trying to rekindle their old flame shortly. And if that’s the case, then they may as well have their new manager start work and evaluating this squad at the Club World Cup no matter who is actually available to play. ............ . Juventus 3 - Venezia 2: Initial reaction and random observations And now, thankfully, we can exhale. It was not pretty. It was far, far, faaaaaaaar from anything resembling something good for long periods of time. But Juventus, with so much riding on their season finale Sunday night, got the one result that ensured they would have Champions League football come the fall. Manuel Locatelli’s penalty in the 73rd minute — the first-ever PK attempt he’s had since his move from Sassuolo in 2021 — was the difference in an absolute roller coaster of a ride that ended with Juventus recording a 3-2 win over Venezia at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo. It came with so much attached to it — the chances of Juventus actually achieving one of their preseason goals and finally taking the late lead they so desired. Locatelli, with the captain’s armband on full display, was ice cold as can be with his finish, and the subsequent celebration with the traveling fans behind the goal was proof of just that. With the victory — which also ensured the Bianconeri actually finished with more wins than draws in this cursed 2024-25 campaign — Juve secured qualification into the Champions League next season and sent Venezia down to Serie B just one season after getting promoted. ............ Juve had to rally to pull ahead not once but twice along the way against a Venezia squad that showed just about every good and bad characteristic of an Eusebio Di Francesco-managed team. It was a wild, wild time. It started out as the worst of times. Then it was at least some improved times thanks to Kenan Yildiz and Randal Kolo Muani. Then it was the worst of times again, only for Locatelli to make it a happy yet incredibly nervous time again. But they did it. Somehow. Some way. They did it. With Roma easily beating Torino and leading from the 18th minute on, this was the only result that would have gotten Juventus into the Champions League. And they did it. ............ The brand of ball didn’t drastically improve under Tudor’s watch. He described Juventus as a squad that was “lost” when he arrived, so it’s not like things were far from completely fixable when he arrived. But in the nine games in which Tudor was in charge, Juventus won five games, drew three and lost one. Thankfully, that loss to Parma — one of the most frustrating results of the entire season — didn’t come back to completely bite the in the ass. ............ RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS ............ And, for the record, since you might be wondering: Yes, it was a penalty. Go ahead and get your Hans Nicolussi Caviglia conspiracies out, but that’s a penalty all day, every day no matter who attempted that tackle on Francisco Conceição. If that ends up being the last major contribution that Conceição makes as a Juventus player, by the way, let us thank him and wish him all the best in the future. ............ You gotta feel at least a little bit bad for Hans, too. He was wearing the captain’s armband and was having a great second half before that PK happened. He seems like a very nice and professional young man, so that was a nice thing to see ahead of kickoff when he met with Manuel Locatelli for the coin toss. (I know Venezia’s regular captain was suspended, so it’s not like Hans has been wearing it all season, but definitely a pretty big thing for a young guy who’s on loan at the club.) ............ Speaking of keepers, that near-post save by Michele Di Gregorio a couple of minutes before Locatelli sunk the PK sure proved to be pretty important, huh? Bravo, Di Gre. You done good. How Yildiz and Khephren Thuram were able to walk off that field — dear lord please let them just be cramps and nothing actually to do with a muscle injury — might be a minor miracle. I really have no idea how these guys do it. And that’s especially true when it comes to such a physically demanding game like this one was. Yildiz in his seven appearances with Tudor as manager: three goals and two assists. I think that was a pretty good way to close the season. And with Juve qualifying for the Champions League, the need to sell the club’s biggest asset seems a lot less of a pressing matter. For that, we should all be thankful. Those long and mazing Thuram runs from one end of the field to the other will never get old. He’s got all the tools to be a great midfield, and I hope that happens at Juventus for a long time because they need somebody like him to build around. That defense before Renato Veiga came on ... my goodness. ............ I’m sad that Alberto Costa’s goal didn’t count — still not totally convinced that actually was his arm that the ball hit — because that was an absolute screamer. He’s had a couple of close calls lately, and to finally break through in that kind of way would have been so badass. ............ That atmosphere in Venice was special, man. That crowd knew what was at stake, tried to will their team to a win and they nearly did just that. I hope Venezia comes back to Serie A soon and adds another chapter to their recent yo-yo between the top divisions of Italian football because it’s just a cool place to play in every way. ............
