Juventus to sign Mandzukic in €18 million deal The striker will undergo a medical on Monday and end his one-year stay at Atletico Madrid. http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2015/06/19/12871642/-? Jun 19, 2015 Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic is on the verge of joining Juventus for €18 million and will have a medical on Monday, Goal understands. Atletico boss Diego Simeone hinted on Tuesday that the Croatia international could leave after claiming the club would decide the player's future rather than him. Juventus have since emerged as the frontrunners to sign Mandzukic after Carlos Tevez informed the club of his desire to return to Boca Juniors. The Champions League runners-up have moved quickly to fill the expected void by agreeing a basic €15m fee, with a further €3m in add-ons. Juve have also agreed personal terms with Mandzukic, who will earn €3.5m a year after tax with an option to extend the deal by an extra 12 months until June 2019. All that is left to finalise the move is for the former Bayern Munich attacker to complete a medical, which he is expected to do early next week. The Bianconeri have already spent €32m on Paulo Dybala from Palermo, while Sami Khedira has joined the club on a free transfer after leaving Real Madrid.

Claudio Marchisio agrees to contract extension through 2019 http://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2015/6/19/8811415/claudio-marchisio-juventus-serie-a-contract-extension Jun 19, 2015 In terms of being rewarded simply because due to your performances on the field this past season, there are few players who deserve a contract extension more than midfielder Claudio Marchisio. Il Principino was good, damn good, and played a massive at multiple spots in what is considered one of the best midfields in all of Europe. So, naturally, we have news of Marchisio being on the brink of putting pen to paper on said contract extension. According to both Tuttosport and the giornalaccio rosa dello Sport, Juventus' lone Turin-born senior player is set to stay right where he is for many years to come. That's no surprise, really. When you say Marchisio is as Juventus as anybody on the roster, it's not a surprise at all. And now he's expected to sign a contract extension through the 2018-19 season — a deal that will see play for the only team he has known (outside of a year on loan at Empoli) entering his mid-30s. Marchisio's new contract will be announced on Saturday, according to the giornalaccio rosa. Good times. LaGazzettadelloSport ✔@Gazzetta_it Marchisio bianconero a vita Domani firma fino al 2019 Out of all the contract extensions that are expected to take place this summer or early fall, this is one of the easiest to figure out. You want Marchisio to stick around? Good, because he does to. In an era where staying with one club throughout your career — and I guess I'm not including a loan season in this notion — is as rare as any anything these days, Marchisio is pretty much saying "I'm staying right here, big guy." That's a wonderful thing to have happen, to be honest. Marchisio is a leader and a future captain. Maybe the only thing from preventing him from being captain is the fact that Superman is still playing at a ridiculously high level as a 37-year-old goalkeeper and has no plans of retiring for at least a couple of years. But Marchisio's time will come. Why? Because he is about to sign a contract extension and stick around until his career comes to a close. That seems like a pretty understandable reason to me.

Juventus, Atlético Madrid reach agreement for Mario Mandzukic http://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2015/6/18/8793419/mario-mandzukic-juventus-atletico-madrid-serie-a-transfer-rumors-2015 Jun 18, 2015 Like a lot of things in the footballing world (or anything else, for that matter), one move is connected to another. Take last summer, for example. Antonio Conte stepped down as Juventus manager, so Max Allegri was brought in as his replacement. It was one piece of news quickly followed by another without much time to even think the club was going in a completely different direction. We can say the same when it comes to remaking Juventus' attack. Just one day after the reported exit of Carlos Tévez, Juventus has agreed to a deal for Atlético Madrid striker Mario Madndzukic, according to multiple Italian media outlets. Gianluca Di Marzio, La Stampa and the giornalaccio rosa dello Sport are all reporting that the fee to bring Madnzukic to Turin is €18 million. This comes two days after Juventus and the 29-year-old Croatia international reportedly agreed to personal terms, which will see him earn a yearly salary of €3.5 million for four seasons. After just one season in La Liga, Mario Mandzukic is on his way to Italy. Juventus had reached an agreement with the striker on a contract and now Marotta reached an agreement with Atletico today in Madrid. With Tevez is on his way back to Argentina, Juventus acted quickly to add a new striker. (Source: Gianluca Di Marzio) So as one striker looks set to leave Turin for a Spanish-speaking country, another one arrives from a Spanish-speaking country. Mandzukic probably isn't the direct replacement for Tévez. That's why Juventus shelled out €32 million and sent it to Palermo for a talented young Argentine by the name of Paulo Dybala. But when you think about the possibility of a starting attack that will feature Dyhala, Mandzukic and Álvaro Morata, well then there's plenty of good things potentially ahead. And now that Mandzukic is reportedly on board, we can start to think how Max Allegri will plug this new toy into a side that is coming off an appearance in the Champions League final. If anything, the attack will be looking a lot different outside of Morata continuing to be awesome and rocking sunglasses from time to time.

Juventus sign Mandzukic http://www.football-italia.net/67966/reports-juventus-sign-mandzukic? Jun 18, 2015 It’s reported Juventus have agreed to sign Mario Mandzukic from Atletico Madrid for €18m. The Bianconeri were reported to have agreed a contract with the Croatian international, with director general Beppe Marotta flying to Madrid to convince his club. La Stampa, Gianluca Di Marzio and giornalaccio rosa dello Sport are now reporting that an agreement has been reached, with Mandzukic set to join for a fee of €18m. The fee will be made up of €15m up front, with €3m to be added on in bonuses. Sky believe that the 29-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Old Lady, earning around €3.5m per season. As reported earlier today, Marotta will fly to Madrid to complete the deal, but it appears everything has already been agreed, with only official confirmation yet to come. The former Bayern Munich man is likely to replace Carlos Tevez, who is on the verge of returning to Boca Juniors.

Croat Heads Juventus’ Shortlist Of Tevez Replacements http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/06/croat-heads-juventus-shortlist-of-tevez-replacements/? Jun 18, 2015 Juventus have already begun thinking about life after Carlos Tevez, with the Bianconeri lining up a host of potential replacements for the departing striker. Tevez’s return to Boca Juniors seems but a formality now, after having expressed his desire to return home and Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta acquiescing to the Argentine’s wishes. Juventus have begun looking into potential alternatives, with Mario Mandzukic, Edinson Cavani heading the Bianconeri’s shortlist according to Tuttosport. The Turin-based media add that Robin Van Persie and Stevan Jovetic are also amongst the candidates. Mandzukic looks the likeliest of deals however, with Juventus looking set to meet Atletico Madrid’s €23 million valuation and the player’s €4 million per year wages according to Tuttosport. There would already be a medical scheduled on Monday for the Croatian striker, according to Sky Sport Italia. The 29-year-old striker arrived at Atletico Madrid just last season, scoring 12 goals in La Liga.

Juventus fly in for Mandzukic http://www.football-italia.net/67944/juventus-fly-mandzukic? Jun 18, 2015 Juventus director general Beppe Marotta will reportedly fly to Madrid tomorrow, to negotiate for Atletico striker Mario Mandzukic. The Bianconeri are in the market for an experienced forward, with Carlos Tevez seemingly on the verge of returning to Boca Juniors. Despite his agent’s claims to the contrary, it has been reported that the Old Lady have agreed a contract with Croatian international Mandzukic. Calciomercato is now reporting that Marotta will be in Madrid tomorrow, to present an offer to Atleti, believed to be around €15m. Mandzukic joined the Spanish side last summer from Bayern Munich, and scored 20 goals in 42 games across all compeitions.

Mandzukic Expected To Choose Juventus Over Manchester United http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/06/atletico-madrid-striker-expected-to-choose-juventus-over-manchester-united/? Jun 17, 2015 Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic would reportedly rather join Juventus than Manchester United this summer as both clubs pursue his signature. The 29-year-old, whose current contract with the Colchoneros is set to expire in June 2018, has been linked with a transfer away from the Spanish club in recent weeks despite only playing one season with them and it seems like he may now have a future in Turin, especially with Carlos Tevez expected to make his departure to Boca Juniors soon. According to the Daily Express, both Juventus and Manchester United have confirmed their interest in the Croatian international, though the striker has apparently already begun talks with the Bianconeri based on his own preference to join the reigning Serie A champions over the Red Devils. Mandzukic, who arrived at Atletico Madrid from Bayern Munich in July 2014, managed to score 12 goals and provide five assists in his 28 Primera Division appearances last term.

Mario Mandzukic targeted by Juventus ahead of possible Tevez exit http://www.espnfc.co.uk/story/2495714/mandzukic-targeted-by-juventus-ahead-of-possible-tevez-exit? Jun 17, 2015 Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed his interest in Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic amid reports Juventus are closing in on the striker's signature. Tuttosport reports that Juventus have reached an agreement with Mandzukic after AS claimed that the Serie A champions had approached his agent. AS says that Juve have turned to the Croatia international after failing to land either of Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani or Napoli's Gonzalo Higuain. "I like Mandzukic, he is a great striker for a team that continually attacks," Allegri told La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport. Mandzukic could replace Carlos Tevez should the Argentine complete a return to his former club Boca Juniors. "If Tevez goes, we have located the player that we want in his place and he is called Mandzukic. We have positive reports about the Croatian," said Juve's general manager Giuseppe Marotta. He added regarding Tevez: "If he does not stay at Juventus, it will be to go to play for Boca." Mandzukic signed for Atletico from Bayern Munich last summer and 12 La Liga goals in 28 appearances in his debut season.

Mandzukic agent: ‘No reason to leave’ http://www.football-italia.net/67906/mandzukic-agent-‘no-reason-leave’? Jun 17, 2015 The agent of Juventus target Mario Mandzukic says there is ‘no reason’ for the striker to leave Atletico Madrid this summer. The Croatian international is believed to be the Bianconeri’s first choice replacement if Carlos Tevez joins Boca Juniors, with some reports indicating that personal terms have already been agreed. However, the player’s representative has dismissed talk of an exit, insisting his client is happy in Madrid. “In the first year in a new country it takes time to settle in,” Ivan Cvetkovic told Tportal. “The fans are now attached to him, and Mario has adapted to the city and to the club. There’s no reason for him to leave and not respect his contract. “Of course, in football everything is in a constant state of flux, and you never know what could happen, but this is not the time to speculate.” Mandzukic scored just 12 league goals after joining Atleti in the summer, but his agent insists it has been a positive season. “In recent weeks Mandzukic has been unhappy, because he hasn’t scored more goals, which has affected him and also Atletico Madrid. “Still, this season we saw a fantastic Barcelona, but the Colchoneros still managed to secure qualification for the Champions League and win the Spanish Super Cup. “So there’s no reason to be totally dissatisfied.”

Wolfsburg And Juventus Compete For Mandzukic http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/06/wolfsburg-and-juventus-compete-for-atletico-madrid-striker/? Jun 15, 2015 Juventus may find hopes of securing the signature of Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic dashed by emerging interest from Wolfsburg. The Serie A champions are contending with prevalent doubts over the futures of attacking trio Alvaro Morata, Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez, with the Argentine of the three looking particularly likely to move on. According to AS, Croatian international Mandzukic is top of the Bianconeri’s list to bolster their forward line ahead of the new season, but they also state German Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg are now making a major play for his services. The 29-year-old left the Wolves for Bayern Munich in 2012, prior to a switch to Spain two years later, and could return to his old stomping ground in place of giant Dutchman Bas Dost, who is expected to join English Premier League club Newcastle United in the coming days.

Allegri: I like Oscar and Mandzukic The Juventus coach has admitted he would be interested in signing the Brazil attacking midfielder and the Croatia centre-forward. http://www.goal.com/en-za/news/4682/transfer-zone/2015/06/15/12735622/-? Jun 15, 2015 Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has expressed his admiration for Chelsea star Oscar and Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic . The Bianconeri look set to spend big this summer on the back of their run to the final of last season's Champions League and have already completed a €32 million deal with Palermo for Paulo Dybala that could rise to €40m including add-ons and bonuses. Allegri has admitted, though, that he is particularly keen on a new No.10 as well as an old-school centre-forward. When asked by the La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport if he likes Oscar, the Bianconeri boss replied: "Very much. He is one of those players who can make a difference in Europe. "I like Oscar, but I also like Isco, Javier Pastore, Angel Di Maria, Toni Kroos - all the best players from the Champions League. "And Mandzukic? There are not many centre-forwards in potential transfer circulation. Mandzukic, Gonzalo Higuain, a few others. "Mandzukic is a good man for relaunching attacks." However, Allegri insisted his interest in Mandzukic does not mean that the club would consider cashing in on Alvaro Morata, who had a fine first season in Italy following last summer's switch from Real Madrid. Indeed, the former Milan coach says he holds the Spain international in the highest esteem and that the Old Lady must try to build a team around the 22-year-old striker and fellow forward Kingsley Coman. "If we were to sell Alvaro, we'd pocket €70-€80 million," he added. "That's the current value of Morata. "I believe that Juve must count on him and also Coman, another youngster of an exceptional level who only needs a little time to explode."

Juve secure Mandzukic http://www.football-italia.net/67776/juve-secure-mandzukic? Jun 14, 2015 Mario Mandzukic reportedly already agreed to a Juventus transfer, but Atletico Madrid remains to be persuaded. The Bianconeri had their eyes set on the Croatian as their first choice to replace Carlos Tevez, and it seems a deal could well be found. According to Calciomercato.it, director general Beppe Marotta already secured the player's agreement to a transfer. Mandzukic, who was spotted talking with Juve's Gianluigi Buffon after Friday's international game in Croatia, is still under contract with Atletico Madrid and the Spanish club haven't given their green light yet. The transfer may be smoothed should Tevez agree to a move to Madrid. The Argentinian Bianconero is also being followed by Boca Juniors and Paris Saint-Germain and is believed to be valued at €6-7m.

Juventus Face Challenge From Zenit St Petersburg For Mandzukic http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/06/juventus-face-challenge-from-zenit-st-petersburg-for-atletico-madrid-forward/? Jun 13, 2015 Juventus could face competition from Russian side Zenit St Petersburg as they look to land Atletico Madrid forward Mario Mandzukic. La Vecchia Signora have been linked with Mandzukic despite the club’s management not being fully convinced by the idea of the transfer, but the move might not happen altogether due to the serious interest being shown by the Russian champions. Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Zenit could make an offer of around €27 million for the 29-year-old which Juventus would have to beat. Mandzukic has also been linked with a move to English Premier League side Manchester United, as well as Juventus’ rivals AC Milan in the summer. The Croatian international joined Atletico Madrid from Bayern Munich at the start of the 2014/15 season and has scored 20 times in 43 appearances for the club.

Mandzukic tops post-Tevez list http://www.football-italia.net/67738/mandzukic-tops-post-tevez-list? Jun 13, 2015 If Carlos Tevez does return to Boca Juniors, Juventus will get one from Mario Mandzukic, Robin van Persie, Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao. Tevez is a lifelong Boca fan and confirmed he will end his career in Buenos Aires, but it remains to be seen whether he’ll wait until his contract expires in June 2016. According to Tuttosport, Juve are increasingly irritated by the saga and want a definitive answer by next week. They’ve already signed Paulo Dybala from Palermo for approximately €40m, but another top striker is needed if Tevez goes. The main target appears to be Atletico Madrid’s Croatia international Mandzukic, who scored in last night’s 1-1 draw against Italy. He also had a penalty saved by Juventus captain Gigi Buffon during that Euro 2016 qualifier and could be secured for around €25m. However, if Mandzukic heads to Manchester United, then Juve can go for unsettled Old Trafford figure Van Persie instead. United also released Falcao from his season-long loan deal, not taking up their option to buy from Monaco. Now Falcao is on the verge of joining Chelsea, but it’s reported Juventus are still in talks for a possible loan with option to buy. Far less likely options are PSG striker Cavani, who seems ready to stay in Paris if Zlatan Ibrahimovic goes to Milan, and Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain.

Juve press on Cavani, Mandzukic http://www.football-italia.net/67479/juve-press-cavani-mandzukic Jun 7, 2015 Juventus are reportedly pressing on Paris Saint Germain's Edinson Cavani and Atletico Madrid's Mario Mandzukic. Having already scooped Paulo Dybala from Palermo, the Bianconeri are looking for another striker to flank the Argentinian. Il Corriere dello Sport is running the line that Cavani is currently their first choice, but PSG are unlikely to make it an easy deal having paid €64m for the player themselves in 2013. Alternatively, the 29-year-old Mandzukic is an option that meets the Old Lady's favour, though they may have to beat some Serie A competition as Milan already expressed an interest in the player. Il Corriere reports that the Bianconeri have also not forgotten about Sassuolo's Simone Zaza and Domenico Berardi. According to the publication, Neroverdi executive Giovanni Carnevali was spotted in Berlin yesterday evening, where Juventus lost their Champions League final 3-1 to Barcelona.

1 Thing 5 Juventus Players Must Improve This Summer http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2496394-1-thing-5-juventus-players-must-improve-this-summer? Jun 19, 2015 There is little doubt Juventus exceeded all expectations in 2014/15, enjoying a season that will live long in the memory. Recording their fourth consecutive Serie A title, their first Coppa Italia win in two decades and reaching the Champions League final, the Bianconeri can reflect on a remarkable campaign. Yet there is little chance of the club growing complacent, having already announced the arrival of some major names this summer. The likes of German midfielder Sami Khedira and Paulo Dybala of Palermo—who weighed in with 13 goals and 10 assists in Serie A last term—have already increased competition for places in Massimiliano Allegri’s starting XI. That means that the current squad will need to improve individually and collectively, with the following pages offering a look at where five members of the existing squad can get better. It points out some flaws they can work to eradicate over the summer months, preparing themselves to better help the Old Lady in the coming season. Roberto Pereyra: Finishing Roberto Pereyra proved to be an excellent acquisition. The former Udinese midfielder enjoyed a stellar first year in Turin. His form earned him a place in the Argentina squad for the Copa America—as discussed in this previous column—but he could almost certainly do with improving in front of goal. According to statistics from Squawka, the 24-year-old found the target with just 43 per cent of his shots in 2014/15, which leaves much to be desired. If he does, Pereyra could become even more valuable to both club and country, particularly given his advanced role in Allegri’s formation. Angelo Ogbonna: Concentration Possessing all the physical attributes and technical skills to succeed, Angelo Ogbonna was one of very few Juventus players to suffer a disappointing season last time out. The 27-year-old was often guilty of switching off during games, leading to high-profile errors he must eradicate from his game if he is to remain part of Italy’s most dominant side. Fernando Llorente: Passing Despite losing his starting berth to compatriot Alvaro Morata, Fernando Llorente remains a valuable weapon in Allegri’s squad. Providing variety and experience on the bench, his size and incredible first touch make him a superb target man, but he must work to improve the accuracy of his passing. According to statistics from WhoScored.com, Llorente connected with just 70.2 per cent of his attempts, which was by far the worst among Juve’s forwards and negates his ability to bring the midfield behind him into play. Figures from Squawka show that Carlos Tevez (85 per cent), Alessandro Matri (76 per cent), Morata (75 per cent) and even young Kingsley Coman (79 per cent) all fared better in this regard. Andrea Pirlo: Corners It seems strange to many that the set-piece delivery of Andrea Pirlo remains open to criticism, but regular watchers of Juventus will agree that his corners leave a lot to be desired. It is perhaps a little late in his career to expect that to improve, but given his usual deadly accuracy, he could certainly try. Paul Pogba: Consistency There is little doubt Paul Pogba is one of world football’s most naturally gifted players, quickly becoming one of the most complete midfielders in the game today. However, the 22-year-old is aware he could still continue to get better. Following Juve’s 2-2 draw with Hellas Verona on the last day of the 2014/15 season, Allegri used his Sky Italia interview (h/t Football Italia) to warn the Frenchman to “stop showboating in midfield." The player responded admirably to that very public criticism. “What the coach is saying is the truth,” Pogba told this author, via Sport360. “I have to keep that focus for 90 minutes."

Arruabarrena: ‘Tevez a complete player’ http://www.football-italia.net/67951/arruabarrena-%E2%80%98tevez-complete-player%E2%80%99? Jun 18, 2015 Boca Juniors Coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena calls Carlos Tevez ‘a complete player’ but isn’t sure the Juventus man will arrive. The striker is believed to be close to sealing a return to his boyhood club, with the Bianconeri admitting that he wants to return to Argentina. “Until we see him in a Boca shirt, I won’t say too much about that,” Arruabarrena told Mediaset. “If he does come, I’ll be happy. He’s a very complete player, that’s why he’s won what he’s won.” However, the tactician hinted that Tevez would not be forming a partnership with former Inter flop Dani Osvaldo. “From a sporting perspective he’s given me the answers I had hoped for, but there are also other considerations, concerning his personal situation and the economic side of things. “Let’s see if a deal can be done, but we’re talking about a lot of money.”

Prandelli was close to Juventus http://www.football-italia.net/67947/prandelli-was-close-juventus? Jun 18, 2015 Cesare Prandelli reveals he could have joined Juventus on two occasions, and discusses his Galatasaray experience. The former Italy CT is currently out of work after being dismissed by the Turkish club, and explains he turned down the Bianconeri twice before taking the Azzurri job. “Was I close to Juventus? A few years ago, yes,” Prandelli explained, in an interview with Corriere dello Sport. “The first time, when I was at Parma, I spoke to [Luciano] Moggi, [Antonio] Giraudo and [Roberto] Bettega. “The second time was before I renewed with Fiorentina and I spoke to [Alessio] Secco, and the third time I spoke with Bettega when Fiorentina said I could speak to other clubs. “Then I went to the national team.”

Carlos Tevez Move to Boca Juniors Would Be Biggest Argentina Transfer in History http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2499191-carlos-tevez-move-to-boca-juniors-would-be-biggest-argentina-transfer-in-history? Jun 18, 2015 Even while Carlos Tevez continues training and playing alongside his Argentina colleagues in the Copa America, speculation keeps linking the Juventus forward to a permanent move back to South America. This time, there may just be a little more substance to the reports. Should the 31-year-old Boca Juniors icon finally put pen to paper and seal a return to his first club, it would no doubt be the most spectacular transfer in the history of the country's venerable Primera Division. Could it all be true? The story was set in motion this Monday, when Argentina received an unexpected guest at their training base in Chile's La Serena. Boca president Daniel Angelici turned up in the city with the specific aim of talking with Tevez with a view to a transfer at the end of the Copa, as revealed on Twitter by Calcio Mercato and other reputable news sources. calciomercato.it @calciomercatoit BREAKING: Boca Jrs president Daniel Angelici has touched down in Chile to meet with Juventus striker Carlos Tevez From there, the world-class forward—used sparingly so far by the Albiceleste in their opening two matches, a draw and win over Paraguay and Uruguay respectively—has been drawn ever closer to the Argentinian giants. Goal reported that Tevez had already informed the Old Lady that he wanted to move back home, but Angelici told TyC Sport (via the same medium) that there was still some way to go in negotiations with the club. "You have to respect Juventus, the club where he still has a contract, but I'm sure Tevez will stay at Juve or return to Boca," the president explained. "We spoke to Carlitos about his future, but at the moment we're leaving him in peace to concentrate on the Copa America. Afterwards, he'll decide with his club where his future lies, but I'm sure, if not now, it'll be next year [that he returns]." Leading Argentinian journalist Juan Pablo Varsky went even further on Twitter. According to the writer, Tevez would have to promise in a legal document that if he rescinds his contract in Turin it would be to go to Boca, and not another European club (the disparity in financial situations between Italian and Argentinian football obviously discards the chance of the Xeneize buying the player outright). VarskySports @VarskySports Juventus pretende que Tevez se comprometa en un documento a que si queda liberado su destino será Boca. De ahí a sellar la vuelta, un paso. So what would this mean for both Boca and Argentina? To put it simply, it would be a transfer almost without precedent in the last 50 years of the nation's local league. That is not to say, of course, that players with cult followings in the Primera do not return. Juan Sebastian Veron left Europe to guide Estudiantes to the Copa Libertadores in 2009, while Racing Club idol Diego Milito lifted his own silverware last year in winning the league just six months after returning from Inter. From Humberto Maschio in the 1960s to Claudio Caniggia, Diego Maradona and Ariel Ortega in more recent times, there is a long tradition of overseas Argentinian stars coming back to the clubs that brought them into the game. Indeed, the last match before the Primera Division went into recess for the Copa America saw Pablo Aimar finally make his long-awaited second coming in River colours, alongside another prodigal son in Fernando Cavenaghi. The Tevez move, however, is different. This is not a player well into his 30s, in the twilight of his career. Carlitos remains one of the best strikers in world football. A Serie A title with Juve this year, 29 goals in all competitions and a run to the Champions League final gave ample proof of his quality. The nearest comparison would be Juan Roman Riquelme coming back to tread the Bombonera turf in 2007. But the enigmatic playmaker always looked more comfortable in his own backyard. Tevez, on the other hand, has had almost unbroken success since leaving Argentina for Corinthians in 2005 and yet is seemingly ready to throw himself once more into the hurly-burly of the Superclasico and other fierce local clashes. Right now, only the return of Sergio Aguero to Independiente or a dream move for Lionel Messi to Newell's Old Boys could come close to matching this transfer for impact. The news also comes at an extremely sensitive time for Boca themselves. The club, and Angelici's reputation, was severely damaged by the disgraceful scenes that marked a derby Libertadores clash with River last month. Several River players, the Buenos Aires Herald explains, were left needing hospital treatment when Boca barra brava hooligans carried out an attack with a potent homemade "pepper spray." The shameful scenes meant that Boca were kicked out of the South American competition, and this piled pressure on Angelici. Defending his presidency in December's elections, the chief needs a big statement to rehabilitate his reputation—and who better to deliver this than the People's Player, the man most closely associated with the toughness and the unbreakable spirit synonymous with Argentinian football? Constantly weakened by the exodus of its best players to Europe and the rest of the world, Argentinian football needs the presence of an icon like Tevez to shake it out of the current malaise. The Juve man would be taking a great risk in leaving behind the comparative security of Italy to enter back into the chaos of the Primera, but it would be a gigantic coup for the country and its millions of football-mad fans who crave to see the best of their compatriots week in, week out.

Five simple words, nothing else is needed. That's the way Marotta rolls, and we're just here to listen to one of the main men behind Juve's roster construction do his thing. It wasn't any different when Marotta spoke to the Corriere dello Sport. You want another reminder from Marotta that Pogba — the player that so many people think is leaving Turin this summer — isn't for sale? Well, here you go. Glad we could be of service. "Pogba is a player who several teams have asked about, but we have not adhered to any negotiation because we consider him fundamental to our project. The player is off the market if he doesn't say he wants to leave. The will of the player is fundamental in football and it will be for Pogba as well. I repeat, we do not want to sell Pogba and he said today that [he] will not leave. If in the future he shows the desire to leave us, we must support him while protecting our financial interests." (Source: ESPNFC) Sorry,Chelsea. Sorry, Manchester City. Sorry, Real Madrid. Sorry, Barcelona. Sorry, Paris Saint-Germain. Sorry, everybody else who might be interested in signing Paul Pogba. (Except maybe not totally sorry because Juventus still has Pogba, but you know what I mean.) One might worry if Marotta would change his tune even in the slightest when it comes to Pogba's future at the club. But, the thing is, he hasn't — at all. When Marotta speaks about Pogba's immediate future at the club, especially in these summer months when the transfer talk gets ratcheted up a couple hundred notches, is it always about how the Frenchman is staying right where he is. It's never the other way around or anything close to it. In a nutshell, Marotta is about as honest and open as he is a shrewd businessman on the transfer market. And you know what that gets him? The benefit of the doubt for one. That applies to just about every time he's said Pogba is not for sale and that the player's desire will dictate the situation. Juventus don't want to tsell, Pogba doesn't want to leave, therefore Paul and his wide variety of mohawk haircuts will continue to wear black and white stripes.

Forget Mandzukic, Tevez will be irreplaceable for Juventus The Argentine's impending exit has cleared the way for the Atletico Madrid striker but he is unlikely to have anything like the impact of the Apache. http://www.goal.com/en/news/1717/editorial/2015/06/18/12836722/-? Jun 18, 2015 By Kris Voakes | International Football Correspondent From the moment Carlos Tevez told Juventus he would not sign another contract with the club it was clear 2014-15 would be his last season in Turin. The rumours this week that Boca Juniors had visited him at Argentina’s Copa America training camp were quickly followed with confirmation from the Old Lady that their star striker is set to go home. One of the greatest spells in Tevez’s career, and a wonderful period in Juventus’ recent history, is over. It is worth remembering at this time that when he arrived in 2013 to be handed Alessandro Del Piero’s old number 10 shirt many believed it to be sacrilege that he would be the man to follow in the club legend’s footsteps. Tevez may not have left quite the legacy of the former skipper, but he has undoubtedly vacated a more gaping hole in the Juve first team. By the time Del Piero departed in 2012 he was 37 years old and playing only a bit-part role in the Bianconeri’s successes. The Argentine, on the other hand, leaves with plenty still to offer and with no obvious replacement waiting in the wings. Juventus need to move quickly to allay any fears for their forward line. They have already added Palermo’s Paulo Dybala for €32 million, but everyone at the club realises it would be unrealistic to expect the 21-year-old to follow in the footsteps of a man who netted 50 times in his two years in Turin. But then who could? Director general Beppe Marotta has confirmed that Atletico Madrid's star centre-forward could be the man, saying: "If Tevez were to leave, we have identified the player to replace him as Mario Mandzukic. "We all agree on his positive impact. Carlos has this desire to return to South America, to his home in Argentina to end a glorious career." The decision not to stand in Tevez’s way is honourable, but the choice of replacement might not be so wise. It is true that few players on the market could hope to provide the verve, power and dynamism of the 31-year-old, but any belief that the Croatian could provide relief in the striking department appears misguided. One thing Juve have going for them is that Mandzukic is available. Atleti boss Diego Simeone said he doesn’t count the 29-year-old among his list of indispensable players. “Mandzukic? Who goes and who stays is not up to me,” the Argentine boss told Radio Marca. “Of course, at Atletico there are few players who can be considered untouchable: Koke, Diego Godin and that’s about it, I would say.” While Mandzukic did a reasonable job of attempting to replace Diego Costa for the Spanish capital outfit, filling the gap Tevez leaves behind would be an altogether different proposition at Juventus. Nobody would expect the former Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich man to adapt his style of play to mimic Tevez but even as a main target man and goal-getter it is unlikely he will be able to match the impact the little attacker supplied. Mandzukic will score goals, and a fair number of them, but he could well find things more difficult up against the more resilient and uncaring Italian defenders. But there is more to it than just replacing the goals Tevez scored. Mandzukic has tallied 46 himself over the last two years, but it is accepted by the majority of people who have watched Juve since 2013 that it was not just in finding the net that the ex-Manchester City man excelled. The bottom line is that Juventus need more than Mandzukic. They have Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala, while Fernando Llorente looks likely to leave. What they really could do with is somebody who can really take the game to an opposing back line. Somebody who can change a match with a single action when things are not going their way. Somebody with guile and pizazz, with that bit of genius and a true big-game attitude. Unfortunately for the Bianconeri, the only player looking to move clubs this summer who fits that description is Tevez.

'Only Cavani can replace Tevez at Juventus' The striker has told the Italian champions he wants to return to Argentina, with the Uruguay star tipped to replace him by one of the club's former attackers. http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2015/06/17/12830772/-? Jun 17, 2015 Ex-Juventus striker Nicola Amoruso says Edinson Cavani is the only man who can replace Carlos Tevez if the forward re-joins Boca Juniors this summer. Goal understands the Argentina international, who is currently playing at the Copa America in Chile, has informed Juve he wishes to return to his homeland, leaving the Bianconeri faced with the task of replacing their top goalscorer from each of the last two campaigns. Earlier on Wednesday, the club's CEO Beppe Marotta said Atletico Madrid man Mario Mandzukic would be the ideal replacement, but Amoruso believes Paris Saint-Germain's Cavani is the best option to fill the void. "Tevez is a player who is very difficult to replace," he said to Tuttomercatoweb.com. "Not only from a technical point of view, but also from a point of view of character. "It's even more difficult because we do not know the future of Paul Pogba, but I think Juve have already prepared for this goodbye. "Paulo Dybala is not the right man to replace Tevez. The only man for this difficult task is Cavani." Tevez, 31, joined Juve from Manchester City in 2013 and has since won two Serie A titles as well as reaching last season's Champions League final.
