  1. Preview: Bologna vs Juventus – Team News, Lineups & Prediction The final game of the penultimate Serie A round pits Bologna and Juventus against each other in Monday’s top-four six-pointer. There’s nothing but goal difference to separate the sides ahead of the kick-off. A third-place finish is, therefore, up for grabs. Bologna scored twice inside the opening 15 minutes on the road for only the second time across the last 65 Serie A seasons to dispatch dethroned champions Napoli in the previous round. That result sealed Rossoblu’s remarkable Champions League qualification with two games to spare, taking their seasonal points record to 67. Only in 1963/64, when they won the title, Bologna bettered this tally in the three-point-per-win era. With their confidence skyrocketing, Bologna will be out to pour more misery on Juventus, a side determined to hire their coach Thiago Motta this summer. Bianconeri sacked long-serving boss Massimiliano Allegri on Friday, only two days after hoisting their first title since 2021. Dusan Vlahovic’s early opener inspired Juventus to a narrow 1-0 win against Atalanta in Wednesday’s Coppa Italia final. But that wasn’t enough to save Allegri’s job amid fans’ unrest. The Turin giants have appointed Paolo Montero as a caretaker boss until the end of the season. Match Preview Bologna It’s been a memorable season for Bologna, whose head coach is the leading candidate to fill the managerial vacancy at the Allianz Stadium. Motta has transformed perennial mid-table tenants into a team to beat in Serie A, especially at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. Only uncontested champions Inter have amassed more home points than Bologna’s 40 this season (W12, D4, L2). Only Inter and Milan have beaten Motta’s side at this venue, highlighting the hosts’ confidence ahead of this fixture that’s historically not been kind to them. You’d need to go back to 2011 for the last time Bologna celebrated victory against Juventus in Serie A. ............ Juventus Fresh off their Coppa Italia success, Juventus return to Serie A, searching for their first league win since early April. Adrien Rabiot’s last-gasp equalizer salvaged a 1-1 draw against basement boys Salernitana last weekend, extending Binaconeri’s underwhelming league run to five straight stalemates. Winning on the road has proved particularly challenging for the Turin outfit. Since a 3-0 demolition of Lecce in January, they have won none of their last seven away league games (D4, L3), netting under 1.5 goals on five occasions. However, Dall’Ara has been a happy hunting ground for Juventus. They have claimed seven victories on their last eight Serie A visits to Bologna (D1). Extending that run with another triumph would likely produce a tight scoreline, not least because five of Juventus’ eight away league wins this season have yielded a one-goal margin. Juventus would be well-advised to fly out of the traps as their hosts have only conceded one second-half goal in 18 Serie A home fixtures this season. The problem is the visitors have only scored 11 first-half goals on their top-flight travels thus far. Team News In addition to long-term absentee Adama Soumaoro and captain Lewis Ferguson, Bologna will be without sought-after forward Joshua Zirkzee. ............ For Juventus: Nicolo Fagioli is back from a lengthy ban, while Mattia De Sciglio could make the bench after returning to training. It’s uncertain whether Montero would alter Allegri’s famous 3-5-2, but Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa should start anyway. Bologna vs Juventus Potential Lineups Bologna (4-2-3-1): Lukasz Skorupski; Stefan Posch, Jhon Lucumi, Riccardo Calafiori, Victor Kristiansen; Remo Freuler, Michel Aebischer; Riccardo Orsolini, Kacper Urbanski, Dan Ndoye; Jens Odgaard. Juventus (3-5-2): Wojciech Szczesny; Danilo, Federico Gatti, Gleison Bremer; Andrea Cambiaso, Adrien Rabiot, Weston McKennie, Fabio Miretti, Filip Kostic; Dusan Vlahovic, Federico Chiesa. Bologna vs Juventus Prediction No one would dare to bet against Bologna at Dall’Ara this season. Despite the managerial shift, there’s a feeling a draw would be their maximum as we back the hosts for success. 2. Moggi blames Giuntoli for Allegri fiasco: “I took a different approach with Ancelotti” Former Juventus sporting director Luciano Moggi criticizes Cristiano Giuntoli for the way he handled the Max Allegri situation. ............ The coach also refused to embrace Giuntoli during the cup celebration ceremony. Eventually, the club viewed this incident as the perfect alibi to rid themselves of the under-fire manager for behavioral reasons, though the decision to part ways had reportedly been taken a while ago. For his part, Moggi blamed Giuntoli for the whole incident, believing the latter should have clarified his intention to change the manager a while ago rather than keeping him in the dark. The 86-year-old feels he had taken the right approach when he informed Ancelotti of his plans to sack him during the 2000/01 campaign. “I think there was a lack of communication between the parties,” said Moggi in his interview with TgR Piemonte. “Had Giuntoli said halfway through the season, as I did with Ancelotti at the time, ‘Look, at the end of the campaign our paths will divide’, there wouldn’t have been any reason to make this mess.” ............ 3. Di Marzio: Thiago Motta gave his word to Juventus, Allegri was hoping for farewell Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Thiago Motta has already pledged his word to Juventus. It has been an eventful few days at Continassa, to say the least. The Bianconeri sacked Allegri for his fiery outburst in Coppa Italia final, a clash he ironically won. ............ “Motta hasn’t signed anything yet but he has a commitment to Juventus for a three-year deal,” said Di Marzio during his appearance on Sky Sport Italia. “He has already made the decision to join the Bianconeri.” ............ “I don’t know what Allegri’s plans are at the moment. These were delicate hours. “He was expecting to remain on the bench to greet the fans on the final day of the season. Now there are also legal conflicts, so I don’t think he’s thinking about another job.” Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/di-marzio-thiago-motta-gave-his-word-to-juventus-allegri-was-hoping-for-farewell/
  4. Thiago Motta reveals his future will be decided in coming days amidst Juventus links Bologna coach Thiago Motta admits the next few days will be crucial to determine his future amidst growing links to the Juventus hot seat. The 41-year-old enjoyed a majestic campaign at the Renato Dall’Ara, leading the club towards the Champions League for the first time in their history. However, the Italo-Brazilian’s contract will expire at the end of the season, leaving his future up in the air. In recent months, Motta emerged as Juve’s primary target to inherit Max Allegri’s place in the dugout. ............ “In the next few days I will meet with the president,” said Motta in his pre-match press conference ahead of Monday’s clash against Juventus. “We will make a decision together and communicate it jointly. The time has come to do so, but it must be done internally and with great respect for everyone.” If Saputo fails to convince Motta to stay put, the latter will likely head to Turin in the coming weeks. 5. Official: Juventus appoint Paolo Montero caretaker manager after sacking Allegri Juventus have officially announced the appointment of Paolo Montero as caretaker coach until the end of the season. The management sacked Max Allegri for his controversial demeanor during and after the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday night, which included threatening Tuttosport’s editor-in-chief Guido Vaciago. ............ But while all accounts pointed towards Montero as the immediate replacement, Juventus have only made the decision official on Sunday morning. “The next two Serie A matchdays, the last of the 2023/24 season, will see Paolo Montero on the bench of the Men’s First Team,” reads the club’s official statement. The Uruguayan is a Juventus legend who represented the club between 1996 and 2005, winning a host of trophies in the process. The 52-year-old has been serving as the club’s U19 coach for the last two campaigns. On Saturday night, the Primavera season was concluded, so Montero will now turn his attention towards the first team. ............ 6. Preview: Bologna vs. Juventus Just three days on from the inevitable firing of Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus test their mettle against the man tipped to step into the Italian's shoes, facing Thiago Motta's Champions League-bound Bologna. Monday's Serie A showdown at Renato Dall'Ara sees the third and fourth-placed sides pit their wits against one another, with only goal difference separating them at this late juncture. Match preview Amid reports that a three-year contract from the Bianconeri is on the table, much-coveted Bologna head coach Motta seeks to get one over his prospective future employers, even if the overriding goal has already been achieved for his remarkable Rossoblu unit. ............ From a potential future Juventus manager to a recently sacked former one, the fiery Allegri was booted out of the Turin offices on Friday evening, just two days after overseeing a gritty 1-0 triumph over Atalanta BC in the final of this year's Coppa Italia. ............ As the Bianconeri board scramble to reach an agreement with Motta, youth team coach Paolo Montero is set to take control of the reins for Juve's closing battles with Bologna and Monza, which do not have an awful lot riding on them thanks to the fourth-placed visitors' qualification for next year's Champions League. However, Allegri not only left on the back of an explosive outburst, but also a miserable streak of top-flight form, which saw Juventus draw each of his last five Serie A games in charge and win just two of their final 15, both of which were one-goal home successes over Fiorentina and Frosinone. None of the Old Lady's last seven Serie A away games have seen Juve emerge triumphant, but a 1-1 draw versus Bologna in August stretched their marvellous unbeaten streak against the Rossoblu to 25 games, and not since 1998 have they come up short at Dall'Ara. ............ Team News A trio of infirm Bologna players will be forced to watch on from the Dall'Ara sidelines on Monday, including Manchester United and Arsenal-linked striker Joshua Zirkzee, who completed 73 minutes against Napoli but is now nursing a hamstring problem. ............ Scorer of the winning goal after just four minutes in the Coppa Italia final, Serbian hotshot Dusan Vlahovic is primed to make his 100th appearance for Juventus on Monday, where Federico Chiesa should fend off the competition to partner him. However, Wojciech Szczesny will come back in between the sticks for Mattia Perin, while the fresh legs of Filip Kostic and Fabio Miretti may also come into Montero's thinking. Bologna possible starting lineup: Skorupski; Posch, Lucumi, Calafiori, Kristiansen; Freuler, Aebischer; Orsolini, Urbanski, Ndoye; Odgaard Juventus possible starting lineup: Szczesny; Danilo, Gatti, Bremer; Cambiaso, Rabiot, McKennie, Miretti, Kostic; Vlahovic, Chiesa We say: Bologna 1-0 Juventus Juventus' Coppa-related chaos will no doubt hamper their preparations for a daunting trip to Dall'Ara, where Bologna have shipped a mere nine Serie A goals all season long, and there will be no overnight fix for the Old Lady's troubles on the road. There is certainly the risk of Bologna's foot coming slightly off the gas pedal at this late stage, but owing to Juve's midweek fatigue and the Rossoblu's rearguard excellence, a low-scoring success should come the hosts' way as they snap their horrendous winless sequence against the Old Lady. 7. Why Giuntoli was not present when Juventus sacked Allegri Cristiano Giuntoli was not present when Juventus informed Max Allegri that he had been sacked yesterday. It is widely believed that Allegri’s departure was triggered by a disagreement with the sporting director, as the two had been at odds for weeks before Allegri was dismissed. The coach did not feel supported by the sporting director and likely felt isolated as rumours persisted that he would be sacked in the summer. ............ Managing director Maurizio Scanavino was the person who informed Allegri of the board’s decision. The Bianconeri explained that Giuntoli did not have to carry out that duty because it was not a technical decision but a disciplinary one. ............ 8. Bologna vs Juventus Preview Juventus will travel to the Stadio Dall’Ara to face Bologna on Serie A Matchday 37 with both teams already sealing Champions League qualification for next season. The Bianconeri and the Rossoblu are equal third in the table with 67 points and they head into the penultimate round of the 2023/24 campaign with victories. La Vecchia Signora won the Coppa Italia Final against Atalanta on Wednesday evening while the Felsinei defeated Napoli 2-0 in their latest Serie A fixture. Juventus have achieved their targets for the season, but the performances under Massimiliano Allegri have been lacklustre to say the least, and they could only draw 1-1 against Salernitana to seal a place in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Bologna have been the revelation of the season, qualifying for Europe for the first time in over 20 years, and doing so by playing entertaining football. Rossoblu tactician Thiago Motta has earned plaudits for his style of play, and reports in the Italian press suggest that he could replace Allegri at Juventus next season. ............ Bologna vs Juventus: Predicted line-ups Bologna are expected to be close to full strength, but defender Adama Soumaoro and star striker Joshua Zirkzee are doubts to feature. ............ Meanwhile, Juventus is close to have a full squad available, but Mattia De Sciglio is a doubt with an injury. Andrea Cambiaso is one yellow card away from serving a ban, but Nicolo Fagioli will be back in the squad after serving his ban for illegal online betting. Bologna predicted XI vs Juventus (4-1-4-1): Skorupski; Posch, Lucumi, Calafiori, Kristiansen; Freuler; Orsolini, Aebischer, El Azzouzi, Saelemaekers; Odgaard Juventus predicted XI vs Bologna (3-5-2): Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Danilo; Weah, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Cambiaso; Chiesa, Vlahovic Bologna vs Juventus: When does the Serie A fixture start? Kick-off in the Serie A Matchday 37 fixture of Bologna vs Juventus is set for 20:45 CEST, local time in Italy, on Monday, May 20. For viewers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, the game will start at 19:45 BST. That is 14:45 ET / 11:45 PT in the United States. ............ 11. E c'é da notare che il video é del canale ufficiale della Juventus. Non so se mi spiego .....
  12. Thiago Motta has received a three-year contract offer from Juventus The wheels are starting to be put in motion, it appears. Now that Juventus officially have a managerial opening a few weeks earlier than pretty much everybody expected, the wheels appear to be starting to be put in motion for the guy everybody expects to be Max Allegri’s full-time replacement. Yes, even though he is still technically under contract with another club. According to reports out of Italy over the last 24 hours, Juventus have officially offered Bologna manager Thiago Motta a three-year contract through 2027 to become their new head coach. Previous reports said that the contract could be a two-year deal with an option for a third, but SportItalia’s Alfredo Pedulla as well as Fabrizio Romano have both said the third year of the contract is very much a guaranteed one, with Motta being offered a salary in the neighborhood of €3.5 million a season. Motta, who has reportedly been Juve chief Cristiano Giuntoli’s top choice to replace Allegri for months now, has refused to discuss a new contract with Bologna despite the club insisting on opening talks. That has only fueled the speculation that he is going to be on the move once the season comes to an end despite how well Bologna’s season has played out. ............ With Allegri’s dismissal on Friday, you have to believe a lot of the focus over the next couple of days will be about Motta and how soon Juventus can get a deal done once the season comes to a close next weekend. Juve, who travel face Motta and Bologna on Monday in a meeting of third place against fourth place, have clinched their spot in next season’s Champions League, thus deeming the last two games of the 2023-24 campaign rather meaningless other than final positioning in the Serie A table. Motta’s work at Bologna has been the feel-good story of the season, helping the club qualify for a European competition for the first time in 60 years. Bologna are currently level on 67 points with Juventus, but are ahead of the Bianconeri in third place thanks to goal differential. ............ 13. Massimo Mauro claims there is something deeper between Allegri and Giuntoli Massimo Mauro discussed the escalating tensions between Max Allegri and Cristiano Giuntoli during Juventus’ Coppa Italia final against Atalanta. Their strained relationship had been evident for weeks, if not months. When the Coppa Italia final took place, the disagreements between Allegri and Giuntoli were clear. This discord was highlighted by Giuntoli’s absence from Juve’s celebration after winning the Italian Cup. Allegri’s visible frustration at the end of the game, which ultimately led to his dismissal, was a significant indicator of the underlying issues. ............ He explained: “The argument with sporting director Giuntoli was so blatant as to make it clear that there are things that we don’t know, otherwise it is clear that he would not have reacted like this. I don’t understand why they don’t say the truth. At these levels you can’t see shows like that, a coach who doesn’t behave well and a manager who can’t celebrate with the team.” ............ 14. Capello says Allegri was hiding something with his actions Fabio Capello has commented on the end of Max Allegri’s tenure at Juventus, insisting that there were behind-the-scenes issues that provoked the manager’s reaction during the Coppa Italia final. Juventus dismissed Allegri after he won just one trophy in three seasons. Although the club had planned for him to remain until the end of the season, his outburst following the Coppa Italia victory led to his early departure. ............ Speaking on Allegri’s outburst, Capello said: “The truth is that his career speaks for him, Allegri is someone who deserves respect. His reaction at the end of the match surprised me because it was clearly not a simple competitive fit, but he was hiding something deeper. With Giuntoli’s arrival in the club, the atmosphere changed and he felt this, realizing day after day that the rumours concerning him were true, and then, with a cup in his hands, pride comes out.” ............
