Juventus Player Ratings vs. Verona: Kean robbed of signature game, Bremer brilliant Although the score at full-time said 1-0, Juventus thoroughly destroyed Hellas Verona in every phase of play. They just couldn’t find the right finish, even though striker Moise Kean had two more goals against the Gialloblù on paper; it’s just that both were ruled out by VAR in controversial fashion. Despite the heartbreak and the nail-biting drama, Juve were able to pull all three points at the Allianz Stadium, thanks to a literal last-minute goal from young substitute Andrea Cambiaso. ............. GK Wojciech Szczęsny, 6.0 – ............. CB Daniele Rugani, 6.0 – ............. CB Bremer, 8.0 – Yes, it was an easy assignment, but Bremer was still majestic at the back. It wasn’t just about his ability to read the game perfectly off the ball and mark Verona’s entire attack out of the match. The Brazilian center back keeps taking on more responsibility on the ball to attempt more difficult passes and not get discouraged when a gamble doesn’t pay off. CB Federico Gatti, 6.5 – Clumsy at times, but you always have to admire his effort. Gatti is an asset to Juventus, and he nearly scored a blistering goal from distance in this one. Midfield LM Filip Kostić, 6.0 – ............. CM Adrien Rabiot, 6.5 – ............. DM Manuel Locatelli, 7.0 – His passing accuracy on those long pick-outs is a wonder to behold and perhaps only surpassed by Toni Kroos. Locatelli had a couple of world-class moments with his awareness of finding the “hidden” option in the attacking third. You wonder what he’d be capable of if Max Allegri did a little more with him. CM Weston McKennie, 6.5 – A solid performance from the American, who was unlucky not to have an assist with his pinpoint cross to Kean. He covers a lot of ground for the Bianconeri. RM Timothy Weah, 6.0 – ............. CM Fabio Miretti, 7.0 – ............. Forwards ST Moise Kean, 8.0 – One of the unluckiest performances we have ever seen. Moise Kean was denied a sensational opening solo goal from range by the offside decision from VAR, as the very tip of his cleat was offside. It was the most minuscule decision, especially since Kean had his back to the goal; there was no advantage there. As if that weren’t bad enough, he had a second goal denied, which was a headed goal from a Weston McKennie cross that he set up with some strong work on the ball. However, Kean’s strong work was deemed a foul after a VAR check. Since he did not know anything about slightly hitting Verona captain Davide Faraoni, it was a harsh way to deny a goal. Kean was a bright spot throughout the match and was rightfully frustrated with how his night went. He should have had two. ST Dušan Vlahović, 5.0 – Had a couple of nice moments as a creator and even with his attempts on goal, but, by and large, this was another disappointing display from the star striker. Juventini have so much faith in the former Fiorentina man, but there are high expectations placed on his shoulders. ............. Juventus vs Hellas Verona 1-0: Cambiaso Scores At the Death Juventus left it late to beat a downtrodden Hellas Verona side at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday night. Andrea Cambiaso’s last-gasp winner has fired Bianconeri to the top of the Serie A standings, at least until tomorrow. .............. Winless in seven consecutive league matches ahead of this trip, Verona had only one idea on their minds. Marco Baroni’s lads were out to frustrate Juventus with a ‘bus’ in front of Lorenzo Montipo’s goal without any ambition to hurt Wojciech Szczesny on the opposite side of the pitch, especially in the first half. Moise Kean, who scored winning goals in both last season’s Serie A encounters between Juventus and Verona, was at the thick of every action before halftime. The Italian forward scored a brilliant solo goal in the 12th minute. He picked the ball midway through the visitors’ half and breezed past two Verona men before unleashing an unstoppable effort into the bottom corner. But his celebrations were short-lived as referee Ermano Feliciani disallowed the goal for the smallest offside you’ll see in Serie A this season. It wasn’t the end of the VAR drama tonight. Juventus continued to dominate the game but struggled to create many clear-cut chances. The next one came in the 19th minute. .............. Despite weathering the storm in the first half, Verona had a long 45 minutes ahead of them. Eight minutes into the second half, Juventus found the back of the net again through Kean. The 23-year-old headed home an inch-perfect cross from the flank, but VAR denied him his first goal of the campaign again for a four in the build-up. .............. Time-wasting techniques and rock-solid defending helped Verona endure the siege down the final stretch. Or so they thought! Late substitute Arkadiusz Mlik got his towering header on the end of Adrien Rabiot’s cross in the 96th minute. The ball rattled off the post and fell nicely for Cambiaso who tapped it home to give Juventus a well-deserved victory. Chiesa and Vlahovic may not start together for Juventus against Verona Juventus fans are thrilled that Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic are back in good health, as they have been the club’s top scorers this season. These two players have formed the most effective attacking partnership at the club, and Max Allegri is always eager to field them together. When they play together, they tend to score goals, which is exactly what the Bianconeri need at the moment. Nonetheless, Allegri has two other options in Arkadiusz Milik and Moise Kean, who have stepped up when Chiesa and Vlahovic were unavailable to play. Allegri typically introduces them into matches in the second half and starts Chiesa and Vlahovic. ............. The report indicates that Allegri is more likely to field one of them alongside either Milik or Kean. ............. Juventus vs. Hellas Verona match preview Juve return home off the back of a big win last weekend and now get set to face one of Serie A’s worst teams in terms of current form. The Serie A schedule makers have given us a few noticeable trends so far this season when it comes to how things look for Juventus coming out of international breaks. As we know, there have been two very big games right upon Juve’s returns, with Lazio in September and AC Milan at the San Siro last weekend. There’s another piece to the puzzle, though — and that’s who is next up that next weekend after each of those big games. .......... By the time Juventus takes the field and lines up against Hellas Verona on Saturday night, the visitors will have gone nearly two whole months since their last win. And it’s wild to think about this is the same Hellas Verona team that won back-to-back games to open the 2023-24 season — and that is not a typo. This is very much the chance for Juventus to extend a struggling side’s woes and roll right on in to another big away fixture — this time in Florence against Fiorentina — next weekend. .......... Can you see the object being constructed in the distance? It is The Trap. You know, the thing that Juventus has fallen into from time to time when they go from picking up a big three points against a big club — although not so much the last few years — and then faced a much, much lower quality of opponent a few days later. Hellas Verona are, to the surprise of absolutely nobody, nowhere near as good as Milan. But, much like after Juve’s big win over Lazio to come out of the last international break, there’s a struggling side lying in wait for Max Allegri’s squad to slip up against. .......... The most interesting part of the night is how Max Allegri is going to play all of this. Do we get the same defense-first approach that we’ve seen a lot of (again) lately, and especially so in the win over a Milan team that played 50-plus minutes with 10 men? Or does Allegri, as his most important attacking players are getting healthy again, choose to be a little more expansive and doesn’t play as low of a block against a Hellas Verona team that has scored ... six goals all season. I can tell you which the sold-out crowd that is expected at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday night probably wants to see. I can tell you what I want to see. But it’s not about us. It’s about Max and what he decides to do against one of the worst teams in the league and a sure-fire relegation battler come a few months from now. .......... This is a game in which Juventus should win and win with room to spare regardless of the absent players. That’s more because of how Hellas are playing more than Juventus, but with another big game lying in wait next weekend, Juve needs to do some good things this weekend to ensure there’s no sort of panic before they go rolling into the land of Rocco Commisso and all Viola everything. .......... JUVENTUS PLAYER TO WATCH .......... MATCH INFO When: Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. Where: Allianz Stadium, Turin, Italy. Official kickoff time: 8:45 p.m. in Italy and the Central European time zone, 7:45 p.m. in the United Kingdom, 2:45 p.m. Eastern time, 1:45 a.m. Pacific time. .......... Allegri admits Juventus must beat Verona this weekend Juventus manager Max Allegri has acknowledged that their upcoming game against Verona this weekend is a must-win, especially after their impressive victory against AC Milan in their previous match. .................. “There are many pitfalls in tomorrow’s match. Verona started well, they have physical strength, and they challenge you physically in the match. They have good players. To give value to Milan’s victory last Sunday, you need to get a result. Otherwise,, Let’s throw overboard what we did on Sunday.” .................. Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/allegri-admits-juventus-must-beat-verona-this-weekend/

Opinion: Three Verona players who Juventus must look out for in Round 10 Following wins over Torino and Milan, Juventus will be looking to extend their positive run when they host Hellas Verona at the Allianz Stadium. Although the Bianconeri’s displays have been lukewarm, to say the least, their results placed them third in the Serie A table, only a couple of points adrift from league leaders Inter. Therefore, Max Allegri’s men are expected to collect all three points against the Gialloblu on Saturday night, especially with Dusan Vlahovic potentially making his return to the starting formation. ............ So let’s take a closer look at three Hellas Verona players that Juventus must look out for this weekend. Filippo Terracciano (Defender) Darko Lazovic (Wingback) Cyril Ngonge (Winger) .................... Allegri’s pragmatic Juventus is back and (probably) here to stay You might not like it, but the circumstances mean ugly football is back for Juventus. Juventus’ scintillating 3-1 win over Lazio happened less than one month ago, although the game that many fans thought would be a tactical harbinger of things to come for Max Allegri’s latest feels like it could’ve occurred more than two months ago. The Old Lady’s tedious 1-0 victory against AC Milan over the weekend at the San Siro — in which the hosts played with 10 men for more than half the game — was an approach much more familiar to last year’s campaign: ugly, pragmatic, wrought with consternation. Against Lazio, there were beautiful cross-field passes from Weston McKennie and Manuel Locatelli that sparked goals, a high-flying Dušan Vlahović, and a buzzing, relentless energy. Against Milan, there was structure, hesitation to throw men forward, and not a whole lot of creativity in the final third. For better or worse, Juventus will likely play the latter hand for the rest of the Serie A campaign. ................ Juventus’ midfield consists of Rabiot, Locatelli, McKennie, and Fabio Miretti. There’s definitively not the right ingredients for a double pivot here, and there also seems to me not enough technical and distributive qualities to play a free-flowing, high-press style that many Juventus fans so desire. Or, in fewer words: without Pogba and Fagioli, we don’t have a good enough midfield for pretty football that also wins. ................ Even against Milan — Milan with several key players out because of injury, Milan with 10 men for 60 minutes and stoppage time — Juventus could not finish the game with a majority in possession. If you were hoping for a different year than last in terms of style, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news. As he has always done, Allegri is going to approach every game in the way he thinks gives the team the best chance to win three points (or, in some cases, one). Given all the recent circumstances and the veritable maelstrom of off-field chaos the club has faced, I reluctantly find myself agreeing that, perhaps, there might not be a better way to try to eek out a top-four finish. ................ The time has come (again) to embrace the ugly, because at this juncture it might be the best chance we have of securing a top-four finish and, piece by piece, reconstructing a roster that can win in more aesthetically pleasing ways. Read more -> https://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2023/10/26/23931945/juventus-max-allegri-tactics-midfield-2023-serie-a-team-management-analysis-opinion
