Juventus 1 - AC Milan 0: Initial reaction and random observations A big, big win at San Siro sees Juventus suddenly within reach of the two Milan clubs atop the Serie A table. Five minutes before halftime Sunday night, Juventus were handed a lifeline. In a first half where Milan saw more and more of the ball as time went on, things suddenly changed when Malick Thiaw pulled down Moise Kean and saw a straight red for it just a few seconds later, leaving the home side suddenly down a man for the next 50 or so minutes. So it begged the question: “What are you gonna do with it, Juve?” Not a whole heck of a lot, but enough to get the only goal of the night and hang on from there. For the second straight time out of an international break this season, Juventus got a big-time result in a big-time test. That one was a dismantling of one of their former managers at the Allianz Stadium, this time around was an absolute grinder of a 1-0 win over AC Milan in front of a sellout crowd at San Siro. The guy who decided it on the scoreboard? It just so happened to be former Milan midfielder Manuel Locatelli, whose long-range shot benefited from a big deflection on what proved to be Juve’s first shot of the night and past 40-year-old keeper Antonio Mirante to put Juve ahead with just under half an hour to go. Locatelli is no stranger to scoring long-range efforts in this rivalry game, although it came on the other side of things back when he was a teenager. On that night on Oct. 22, 2016, Locatelli beat Gigi Buffon. But even with more of the ball in the second half, it’s not like Juve had created a ton. Locatelli’s goal, in the 63rd minute, was Juventus’ first shot on target the entire night. Even with a man advantage, Juve only put four shots on frame the entirety of the second half — and two of those came on the double save that Mirante made as the Bianconeri tried to double their lead. Would a bigger lead would have been nice with the man advantage? Of course, but thankfully Juventus looked pretty solid once they got the lead. His shot took a big deflection off of substitute Rade Krunic, wrong-footing Mirante and sending the ball flying into the net behind the diving keeper. .............. Got torched a few times by Leao, but it’s rare to find a center-back that won’t against that kind of elite-level pace. He played well otherwise, making three clearances and a tackle and completing 90.9 percent of his passes. BREMER - 7. A big day for the Brazilian, who made six clearances and a pair of tackles while holding Giroud to that single shot. DANIELE RUGANI - 7. An understated but excellent day in place of the captain, finishing the day in a three-way tie for the team lead in clearances and marking his opponents well while playing all over the line. TIMOTHY WEAH - 6. ......... WESTON McKENNIE - 6. ......... MANUEL LOCATELLI - 6. One heck of a shot for that goal, which looked like it was going to test Mirante even without the massive deflection. Also defended very well, coming second on the team with five clearances and dropping back into his own box to stop up crossing lanes when needed. ADRIEN RABIOT - 5.5. His first day as captain went OK, but he wasn’t able to make any of those big runs through midfield that make him so effective. ......... FILIP KOSTIC - 5. ......... ARKADIUSZ MILIK - 5. ......... MOISE KEAN - 5.5. The kind of game that shows everything he does well and everything that’s still holding him back. ......... SUBS DUSAN VLAHOVIC - 5.5. ......... ANDREA CAMBIASO - 6. ......... FEDERICO CHIESA - NR. ......... DEAN HUIJSEN - NR. His only counting stat was a clearance, but don’t sleep on how good the teenager was in his debut. He completed all 18 of his passes and very much looked like he belonged on a top-flight back line. FABIO MIRETTI - NR. On after Weah got hurt late on. MANAGER ANALYSIS I deeply wish Juventus was managed by someone who wasn’t so risk-averse. That’s really the only descriptor for the way Allegri approached this game. Depleted as he was, Milan’s roster was in similar shape, and with a third-string goalkeeper in, one had to think that the plan would be to pepper him with shots and see what happens. Instead, Allegri set the team up in a deep block that made it almost impossible for the team to get out of their own half and test Mirante. The forwards, when they did get the ball, would be so deep that they had to either hold the ball up or break out with it while having to get past multiple lines in the opposing formation. It doesn’t matter who your forward is at that point, they’re the underdog in that situation. What was nigh-on unforgivable was the fact that Juve hardly kept that timidness on display even when up a man for upwards of 50 minutes. There were spells of the second half where Milan set themselves up in the Juve half even while down a man. It was clear that Allegri’s goal in this game was to leave Milan with a point, and the other two would be a nice bonus. If there was anything that blared to the world that Allegri was playing it safe, it was the introduction of Cambiaso. Now, I’m rather high on the wing-back, but with a man advantage and searching for the goal to put you ahead, Juve was in prime Samuel Iling-Junior territory. Instead, Allegri left one of his most talented attacking players on his bench. Max Allegri has truly become a caricature of himself. He will defend until the bitter end with little in the way of regard for game situation or the fact that, you know, Juve need goals to win games. Ciao cate. Il campionato under-21 é come il nostro campionato primavera. La seconda squadra dell'Ajax gioca in serie B, non nel campionato primavera quindi ha solo due squadre.

É questione di personalitá. Qui in Olanda i giovani sono meno coccolati dai genitori rispetto all'Italia. É cosí che diventano adulti prima e sviluppano una consapevolezza dei propri mezzi. Apparentemente sembrerebbe arroganza ma non é proprio cosí. Poi sono meno impulsivi di noi italiani anche se non sono assolutamente un popolo "freddo" come forse pensate voi in Italia. I tedeschi sono molto piú freddi degli olandesi.

Un allenatore della sua esperienza non dovrebbe fare queste cose. Ha 56 anni, non é mica un allenatore che ha appena preso il patentino.

É un esagitato. Huijsen avrá pensato: "Ma in che mani sono finito"? Alla fine era piú tranquillo il giovane olandese dell'allenatore 56enne. Cose da pazzi.

Hanno delle scuole calcio organizzate benissimo. E le squadre piú importanti hanno le seconde squadre come la Next Gen da molto tempo. Il Jong Ajax (letteralmente il giovane Ajax) gioca nella serie B olandese. Come anche il Jong PSV Eindhoven. C'é un campionato apposito per le squadre under-21: Il Feijenoord onder-21 e l'ADO Den Haag (L'Aia) onder-21 ci giocano fra le altre che non sono conosciute in Italia. Ecco perché tanti giovani passano poi nelle prime squadre. É una politica che sta attuando ora anche la Juventus ma in Olanda esiste giá da anni.

Capitano non giocatore si diceva una volta

Hanno vinto un campionato europeo ai tempi di van Basten, Gullit, Rijkaard ecc. Perso tre finali mondiali e la semifinale in casa loro contro l'Italia di Toldo ai rigori. Mi ricordano la Juve. Nelle partite che contano cedono.

Per loro giocare bene vuol dire vincere anche se non si vince. Io ci vivo e so cosa intendono.

Ha un futuro da macchiettista quando smetterá di allenare, cosa che non gli piace fare, come dice lui.
