  1. TORINO - JUVENTUS September 29, 2013 12:30 PM Stadio Olimpico — Turin Referee:‬ Silvio Mazzoleni Ventura: 'Toro can do it!' Sep 28, 2013 Giampiero Ventura is confident Torino can beat Juventus in the Derby, ending an 18-year drought. “We know we can do it.” http://markting10.nl/ The Derby della Mole kicks off at 12.30pm “We haven’t beaten the Bianconeri since 1995, but we hadn’t won at Bologna for 33 years and we still managed that last week,” said the Coach in his Press conference. “We are not afraid, though we do have great respect for a side like Juventus who won the title for two consecutive campaigns. We know our qualities, we know we can do it and I say that with the utmost respect. “Juve are strong, but we have the belief that we can do this. The Derby is always a separate game from everything else. We have grown and are more mature than last season.” Ventura takes inspiration from Roma Coach Rudi Garcia, whose side beat Lazio 2-0 last week. “Garcia said ‘you don’t play a Derby, you win it’ and I can only agree. If this Torino wants to, then it can achieve something important. This should be our slogan: ‘If you want it, then you can succeed.’ “I hope the fans will flock to the game too and be able to one day say: ‘I was there.’” Andrea Pirlo could be rested for this match, so Ventura was asked about possible tactical adjustments to compensate. “We’d still have to face Paul Pogba the same way, even if he has different characteristics. Antonio Conte said other teams play more defensively against them, but that’s fairly normal. If I were to challenge Mike Tyson then I’d do it on a chess board rather than in a boxing ring!” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  2. TORINO - JUVENTUS September 29, 2013 12:30 PM Stadio Olimpico — Turin Referee:‬ Silvio Mazzoleni Conte: 'Juve respect Torino' Sep 28, 2013 Antonio Conte has “great respect” for Torino and warns in the Derby della Mole “hunger” counts for more than quality. http://markting10.nl/ The two city giants face off on Sunday at 12.30pm “We have great respect for Torino, as they are an excellent squad with very good players,” said Conte in his Press conference. “Plus we are talking about a derby, which is always a game unto itself. I will never forget the derby when we won the Scudetto and still lost both Derbies. It is a fixture where technique and quality are not enough, as you need grit, sporting aggression and rage. In certain games the hunger counts more than organisation.” Giampiero Ventura scrapped his trademark 4-2-4 system this season for a 3-5-2 with Alessio Cerci moved from the wing to a striker role. “I always respected Torino and appreciated their tactics. If Ventura has decided to change, he will have his reasons. Toro remain well organised and have excellent individuals like Cerci and Ciro Immobile. I am certain they’ll face us in an open and attacking way. “The Derby is a unique event. Nothing counts here, not your wages nor the position in the table. There is a lot of respect between us, as Turin has two glorious clubs. I have many friends who are Toro supporters.” Juventus have been stuttering of late, needing to fight back to gain results against Copenhagen, Inter, Hellas Verona and Chievo. “We always try to improve, but the statistics of the last few games do not show a disastrous Juventus,” continued Conte. “We picked up four wins and two draws, which doesn’t seem bad to me. We know that we have to improve certain aspects, but let’s wait before talking about a Juve that is struggling. We know it’ll be more difficult this season, because teams change their approach and play only to limit us. “Winning two consecutive titles in such clear fashion did bring a sense of certainty to the squad. It’s inevitable after two years of success that the approach will be less ferocious. However, I am not worried because I know that my team has great men as well as great players. Everyone is waiting for us to slip up and play the game of their lives against Juve.” There are reports Andrea Pirlo will be rested, but Conte joked when asked who would partner Carlos Tevez in attack. “Why, are you certain Tevez is playing? There’s one more training session and then three important games coming up. We’ve rotated so far and will try to finish this fixture-intensive period as best we can. I focus on the team, not on any particular individual. “As for Pirlo, we are making evaluations. I won’t say yes or no right now, but I will remind you we have other important games coming up on the horizon. I want to keep everyone in the best condition possible. “Mirko Vucinic had a problem with his heel that was caused by the knock to the knee on international duty, but he’s better now and at our disposal.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  3. TORINO - JUVENTUS September 29, 2013 12:30 PM Stadio Olimpico — Turin Referee:‬ Silvio Mazzoleni Torino-Juventus Preview: Champions aim to keep 18-year derby dominance intact The Bianconeri have not suffered defeat to their local rivals since 1995 but Giampiero Ventura's in-form side are able to boast the league's joint-top scorer in Alessio Cerci. Sep 28, 2013 Juventus will hope to maintain their 18-year dominance over local rivals Torino when the sides meet in Serie A on Sunday. The last time Juve suffered defeat in the clash was in 1995, and they have won 10 of the 14 subsequent meetings. http://markting10.nl/ Antonio Conte's side currently sit in fourth place, having dropped points just once this season, while city rivals Torino find themselves in eighth having lost only once. Juventus were given a stiff test last time out, however, as they were forced to come from behind at Chievo on Wednesday thanks to a second-half effort from Fabio Quagliarella and an Alessandro Bernardini own goal. The hosts were left aggrieved after seeing a goal wrongly chalked off due to an incorrect offside call and Conte believes his side were lucky to get away with the three points. "Chievo's sense of fair play is impressive and everyone should follow their example. We were lucky today, because the situation went our way," he said. "Up until that moment the match was in our hands with Gigi [Gianluigi] Buffon acting as a spectator. We did well to press the reset button at half-time and turn it around after the break." After a disappointing season last time out, in which they finished 16th, Torino have made an impressive start to their campaign, going into the derby unbeaten in three matches during which they came within seconds of beating AC Milan. Giampiero Ventura's men also have an in-form Alessio Cerci in their ranks, with the former Fiorentina forward scoring four times in his last three games to sit joint top of the scorers' standings with five. Ventura wants his side to continue their impressive start to the season when the champions come to town, adding that he feels the league is a tougher proposition this year than last. "We have many new players at this club and we have also changed our formation but we are a team that always tries to play purposeful football," Ventura said. "We want to grow and continue pushing on because we are playing in a league that is more difficult than last year.” Torino have not beaten Juventus in their last 14 games, last securing local bragging rights in 1995 thanks to a 2-1 win. They have also failed to score against the Bianconeri in their last eight meetings - last finding the net in a 2-2 draw in February 2002. Juventus remain without long-term absentees Simone Pepe (thigh) and Martin Caceres (knee), while a broken foot keeps Torino's only injury concern, Marcelo Larrondo, out of the game. 4. TORINO - JUVENTUS September 29, 2013 12:30 PM Stadio Olimpico — Turin Referee:‬ Silvio Mazzoleni Cerci: Tevez a special player The Italy international has nothing but respect for the hunger the Argentine shows every single time he sets foot on a football field. Sep 28, 2013 Torino ace Alessio Cerci has hailed Carlos Tevez as "a special player" ahead of Sunday's Turin derby - but joked that the Juventus forward cannot boast a left foot like his. http://markting10.nl/ The Argentine has made a fine start to his Bianconeri career following his summer switch from Manchester City, having endeared himself to his new club's supporters with three goals from his first five Serie A outings. However, Cerci believes that it is Tevez's aggressive attitude which sets him apart from other players, with the winger revealing during an interview with Tuttosport which of the 29-year-old's assets he wished he possessed. "The anger that he expresses during the 90 minutes; this strong character that he has; this incredible grit. "He transmits positive energy. Tevez is always fired up on the field. He has extraordinary technical skills, great physical abilities which, when added to that character, make him a special player. "But he certainly doesn't have my left foot!" Cerci has also caught the eye this season, having notched five times already in his new, more advanced attacking position. However, he knows that Torino will be up against it at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday. "Inside of us, we all believe we can do it," he said. "But it's a tough game and we know we have to pull off, if not a miracle, then at least a great feat." Cerci, of course, was linked with a move to AC Milan during the summer and while he insists that he is perfectly happy in Turin, he freely admits that he is desperate to play in the Champions League at some point. "I've always said I want to stay at Torino," he pointed out. "If we had ever had to analyse certain situations, I do it. "Also because I'm no longer a kid. At 26, you would like to realise the dream of playing in the Champions League." The latest instalment of the Derby della Mole is scheduled to kick off at 12:30CET. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  5. TORINO - JUVENTUS September 29, 2013 12:30 PM Stadio Olimpico — Turin Referee:‬ Silvio Mazzoleni Conte wary of Torino threat The Bianconeri have not lost to their city rivals in 18 years but the former Italy international is taking nothing for granted ahead of the Turin derby. Sep 28, 2013 Juventus coach Antonio Conte insists that he is taking the threat of Torino seriously ahead of Sunday's Serie A showdown at the Stadio Olimpico. http://markting10.nl/ The reigning champions have made a strong start to the season and currently sit fourth, having won four and drawn one of their five games thus far. The Bianconeri are also unbeaten in the Turin derby for 18 years, but Conte is taking nothing for granted against a Torino side that currently sits eighth in the standings. "We’ve got great respect for them," the 44-year-old told reporters on the eve of the game. "They’re an excellent side and have good players. "We know the derby is always a different type of game. I remember the year (1994-95) when we won the title but lost both games against Torino. "We know we need to improve but there are also plenty of positives from our start to the season. "It will be tough this year. Whomever we face will try and stop us from playing and make life difficult. "The form book goes out of the window in derby games and we need to stay on our guard. Anything could happen." Mirko Vucinic had been expected to miss the derby with a knee injury, but Conte revealed that the Montenegro international could feature against the Granata. "We've got one more training session remaining and we'll make our assessments on the players' condition," he explained. "Vucinic has trained and his condition is improving." Sunday's clash is scheduled to kick off at 12:30CET. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  6. Marchisio not afraid of Pogba competition The Italy international made his return from injury in the midweek win at Chievo and is now hoping to nail down a regular berth in the Bianconeri midfield. Sep 28, 2013 Claudio Marchisio insists that he is not in the least bit perturbed by the prospect of having to compete for a place in the Juventus starting line-up with Paul Pogba. http://markting10.nl/ The Italy international has only just returned to action after a month out of action with ligament damage sustained in the Supercoppa Italiana success over Lazio in August. Pogba, who proved one of the revelations of last season following his arrival from Manchester United, has thrived in Marchisio's absence and the 27-year-old Turin native now has the unenviable task of trying to displace the French youngster from the Bianconeri midfield. "The internal competition with Pogba doesn't scare me," Marchisio told La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport. "It's fundamental and Paul's growth is very important for us. "The squad is large and the constant turnover of players is right. The players must understand this, even if they all want to play in the important games." Carlos Tevez has also shone during the opening five rounds of the new season but Marchisio says that he is not in the least bit surprised by just how well the Argentine attacker has settled at Juventus Stadium and is looking forward to playing alongside him in Sunday's derby against Torino. "I expected him to be like this: gritty, mean, with a huge desire to win," the Azzurri ace enthused. "Carlitos is like the Juve of Conte's first year - always angry. "I explained to him what the derby is all about. I told him that in terms of the level of history, it is more important than the Manchester derby."
  7. Marchisio: I want to retire at Juventus The Italy international wants to forge a legacy at his boyhood club to match that of Roma's Francesco Totti, rather than follow Alessandro Del Piero away from Turin. Sep 28, 2013 Claudio Marchisio has stressed that he wants to retire at Juventus rather than follow club legend Alessandro Del Piero and spend the twilight years of his career elsewhere. http://markting10.nl/ Juventus opted against offering Del Piero a new deal in 2012, prompting the legendary attacker to leave the Bianconeri for Sydney after 19 years in Turin. Although Marchisio was keen to acknowledge the World Cup winner's legacy at the club, he admits he is eager to emulate Roma's Francesco Totti and spend his entire career at the side he joined as a boy. "Ale [Del Piero] has had a wonderful journey at Juventus that will never be erased from history," Marchisio told La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport. "Francesco, on the other hand, has the fortune that he will be able to end his career at the team he loves and I hope to be able to do the same. "I do not need to be reassured about my future. I know that president Agnelli and Marotta have faith in me. "We are not discussing a contract renewal because I still have three years to go on my contract." Marchisio, 27, has made over 200 appearances for Juventus since making his official debut in the 2006-07 season.
  8. Buffon: Pirlo exit would destroy Juventus The experienced goalkeeper has urged the Bianconeri management to offer the playmaker a new deal with his current contract set to expire next summer. Sep 28, 2013 Gianluigi Buffon feels it would be disastrous for Juventus if Andrea Pirlo were to leave the club at the end of the season. http://markting10.nl/ The influential midfielder's current contract with the Serie A champions is due to expire in the summer of 2014 and general director Giuseppe Marotta stated earlier this week that Juve are in no immediate rush to offer Pirlo a renewal. Nevertheless, Buffon has urged the Turin giants to act and offer the 34-year-old a new deal as soon as possible, or else risk destroying the foundations of the team. "Not holding on to Pirlo should not even be an option," Buffon told Sky Sport Italia. "If Pirlo were to leave, we might as well dismantle the stadium bit by bit and stop playing football altogether. http://markting10.nl/ "I hope that we will never deprive ourselves of a great player like him." Pirlo joined Juventus from AC Milan in the summer of 2011 and has since helped the Bianconeri to back-to-back Serie A titles.
  9. Why Juventus risk losing Andrea Pirlo at the end of the season The Bianconeri have yet to agree an extension of the metronomic midfielder's current contract, meaning he could walk away for free in the summer. Sep 28, 2013 COMMENT By Kris Voakes If one man has embodied the rejuvenation of Juventus Football Club over the past two years, that man is Andrea Pirlo. Since his arrival in Turin from AC Milan in the summer of 2011, the Italy international has completely changed the make-up of the Bianconeri’s play, helping them to consecutive Scudetti and a Champions League quarter-final in their first year back in European competition. http://markting10.nl/ But June 2014 is set to bring a key moment in the continued development of the club, with Pirlo’s current contract due to terminate at this season’s end. And while to the naked eye it would appear that the offering of a new deal would seem like a no-brainer, there are grumblings of discontent around Turin at the moment. Pirlo remains one of the highest-paid first-teamers at Vinovo, but will turn 35 before his current deal elapses, prompting Juve to consider offering lowered terms for any new contract. Add in the need for coach Antonio Conte to prepare his squad for the longer term without Pirlo, and this brings with it a greater uncertainty than might be obvious to the layman. As Goal’s Juventus correspondent, Romeo Agresti, explains, there are many facets to the current stand-off, which has seen the club postpone any new talks until February of next year. "In many ways, the situation is very simple. Juve would like to evaluate with a clear head the possibility of a new one-year deal with an option for the following year, but keeping Pirlo means keeping a player who wants to play every game," says Romeo. "However, it is not a simple situation to manage. Juve are also considering fitting Paul Pogba into Pirlo’s role as the midfield pivot in the long term. Conte believes that the Frenchman is the right man for the job, and is working very much with that in mind. Consider, for example, the recent Juventus-Verona game, where Pirlo was replaced and Pogba moved into the central role just in front of the defence." Pirlo is a key man both on and off the field, winning two Champions League titles during his career. If you want to progress in Europe, you need men who are not afraid of Europe - Romeo Agresti, Juventus correspondent. That fixture was also notable for Pirlo heading immediately for the tunnel when his substitution occurred, sparking rumours of disquiet between the playmaker and his coach, but Romeo assures there are no deeper issues in that regard. "As regards the relationship between Pirlo and Conte, that remains solid. Pirlo’s decision to head straight for the tunnel angered Juve, but everything is now back to normal. Against Chievo in midweek, the two men exchanged a hug after the match and the controversy has been permanently quietened." Beyond short-term worries over relationships, there is a greater question mark in mind over the ability to transform a team which currently plays to Pirlo’s tune if the Italy midfielder were to leave. Still, the fear over his loss must also be tempered with financial realism concerning a player in his mid-30s. "To put it into real terms, Juve’s idea is to propose a one-year rolling deal but certainly not at a rate of €4 million per year," explains Romeo. "However, the Bresciano is an important man both on and off the field, having won two Champions League titles during his career. And if you want to grow in Europe, you have to have men who are not afraid in Europe. "But the club are making a comprehensive assessment, especially in terms of tactics. If they want to cast Pogba in that role, then they have to study the proposal well. Also to be taken into consideration is Juve’s desire to add Radja Nainggolan to their ranks at some point, and the Belgian is not a player who would want to spend a lot of time on the bench." So given the fact that Pogba only left Manchester United for the Bianconeri in the first place due to a lack of first-team football, Claudio Marchisio’s position as a crowd favourite, Arturo Vidal’s undroppable status and the continued desire to add Cagliari’s Nainggolan at some point soon, there are many factors to consider as Conte and the club board sit down to talk over Pirlo’s position. And in the meantime, they are happy to let the Italian’s contract run low enough that he could speak to other clubs before they next intend to discuss an extension. While the 100-cap star is unlikely to go looking elsewhere immediately, Juventus’ multitude of questions may lead to Pirlo signing his next contract with someone other than the Old Lady.
  10. TORINO - JUVENTUS September 29, 2013 12:30 PM Stadio Olimpico — Turin Referee:‬ Silvio Mazzoleni Torino-Juventus Betting Preview: Expect goals at both ends in the Derby della Mole Antonio Conte's men have failed to display their characteristic defensive resolve this season and Al Hain-Cole expects this to make for an entertaining Turin derby. Sep 28, 2013 The Derby della Mole takes place on Sunday as Juventus travel the short distance to their former Stadio Olimpico home to face Turin rivals Torino in Serie A. http://markting10.nl/ La Vecchia Signora are unbeaten in 14 games against their more modest neighbours and are clear 1/2 (1.50) favourites with Betway to pick up a fifth-consecutive win in this clash. However, Giampiero Ventura’s men are unbeaten in their last five games on home soil and are available at 6/1 (7.00) to secure a long-awaited first win over their old foes since 1995. Four of those five fixtures have resulted in draws, and you can get odds of 14/5 (3.80) on the hosts earning a share of the spoils for the first time in six encounters. Few local derbies can have been more one-sided than this one over the past few years, as Antonio Conte’s men have taken 22 points from the last 24 against their neighbours without conceding a single goal. However, the Granata will be confident of causing their visitors more problems after starting the season in productive form in front of goal, scoring twice in four of their five games so far. Ventura’s side have also struck twice in each of their last four Serie A games in front of their own fans, including in the visit of AC Milan, and will have been encouraged by some recent defensive wobbles from their usually watertight guests. Juventus have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last five matches and have gone behind in each of their last four, so will go into the derby with question marks surrounding a backline that has seen three different centre-back combinations in each of the last three outings. Considering Torino’s attacking start to the season, odds of 9/10 (1.90) offer clear value on both sides hitting the back of the net on Sunday, with the visitors having failed to score just once in their last 29 league games. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

Juventus have not yet hit the heights that saw them retain the Serie A title last season and they had to come from behind in midweek to beat Chievo Verona. In terms of personnel, striker Marcelo Larrondo remains out for the hosts while Antonio Conte is still awaiting the return of Simone Pepe. 12. Buffon: 'Juventus cannot let Andrea Pirlo go' Sep 27, 2013 Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has insisted that the club cannot afford to let Andrea Pirlo leave when his contract expires in the summer. http://markting10.nl/ Buffon said that the club cannot grow and begin to compete with the best in Europe by getting rid of their best players. "Letting a player like Pirlo go is never up for discussion," Buffon told Sky Sport Italia. "If we started to do that, then we may as well dismantle the stadium bit by bit, go home and stop playing football. I hope that we never deprive ourselves of such a strong player."
  13. TORINO - JUVENTUS September 29, 2013 12:30 PM Stadio Olimpico — Turin Referee:‬ Silvio Mazzoleni Glik: Torino have to believe Sep 27, 2013 Kamil Glik hopes his Torino side ‘believe’ that they can beat Juventus in the Turin derby on Sunday. http://markting10.nl/ Il Toro face the Bianconeri at Stadio Olimpico at the weekend, and the defender has urged his team to be confident in the face of the Scudetto holders. “We are the Toro,” he told Sport Mediaset. “We have to try and win every game. “We go into the game with great humility and are aware of their quality, but we have started this season well and therefore must believe we can win. “We will try with all our might to get the three points. We are preparing for the match in the best way possible. “It is with immense pride that I play the derby as captain of Torino.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  14. TORINO - JUVENTUS September 29, 2013 12:30 PM Stadio Olimpico — Turin Referee:‬ Silvio Mazzoleni Barzagli worried by Cerci threat Sep 27, 2013 Juventus’ Andrea Barzagli has singled out Alessio Cerci as Torino’s biggest danger ahead of the derby this weekend. http://markting10.nl/ “Who do I fear? Cerci without a doubt,” the stopper said of his international teammate in an interview with Tuttosport. “He’s doing well and we’ll have to be very alert in trying to stop his rapidity. “When Torino counter then they can cause you damage. Juventus are going well, but the Granata have also played excellently of late. “They are a dangerous side, they will mirror our formation, they have quick players in attack. It would be good if the Juventus players won all of their personal duels.” Barzagli is one third of a solid defence on paper, but one which has conceded in each of their last five games. “We are letting in a few more goals,” added the 2006 World Cup winner. “However, in the games against Copenhagen, Verona and Chievo, we gave very few chances away. “We dominated those games. Right now we’re in a period where we concede at our first distraction. We’ve all understood that we need to remain focused for the entire match.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  15. Balotelli wanted Tevez at Milan Sep 27, 2013 Mario Balotelli has revealed he was hoping former Manchester City teammate Carlos Tevez would join him at Milan. http://markting10.nl/ The Argentine was made available for transfer in the summer, but the previously interested Diavolo could do nothing as he joined Scudetto rivals Juventus instead. “Carlitos is a great player,” Balotelli told the giornalaccio rosa dello Sport on Friday in a lengthy interview covering a number of subjects. “I got on well with him at Manchester City. I phoned him on a number of occasions in an effort to convince him to join us, but he then chose Juventus instead. That’s a shame.”
  16. Messi, Higuain and Aguero all named in provisional Argentina squad, Tevez out. Javier Mascherano is included despite recent injury troubles, while three Inter stars are also given the nod, although Willy Caballero and Carlos Tevez again miss out. Sep 27, 2013 Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain and Sergio Aguero have all been named in a strong provisional Argentina squad for the World Cup qualifiers with Peru and Uruguay. http://markting10.nl/ The attacking trio have all been handed a place in Alejandro Sabella's star-studded set-up, despite the Albiceleste having secured qualification for next summer's finals following their 5-2 win over Paraguay. Barcelona's Javier Mascherano is included despite suffering from a hamstring injury, while Angel Di Maria and Ezequiel Lavezzi are also named in an attack-laden provisional list. Elsewhere, Tottenham star Erik Lamela is also given a spot, along with Inter trio Hugo Campagnaro, Ricky Alvarez and Rodrigo Palacio, following the Nerazzurri's excellent start to the Serie A season. There's a place for Fabricio Coloccini of Newcastle and Pablo Zabaleta of Manchester City, but Malaga keeper Willy Caballero and Juventus striker Carlos Tevez are again left out. Argentina face Peru in Buenos Aires on October 11 before a trip to Montevideo to take on Uruguay four days later.
  17. Juventus put Pirlo contract talks on hold until February The Scudetto holders are in no rush to extend the influential midfielder's existing deal and will continue talks in a few months time. Sep 26, 2013 Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has revealed the reigning Serie A champions have put contract talks with Andrea Pirlo on hold until early 2014. http://markting10.nl/ The Italy international's current contract with the Bianconeri is due to expire at the end of the 2013-14 campaign, but Juventus are in no rush to extend his existing deal. "Pirlo's contract? We have held talks and are calm about it. We have decided to continue negotiations in February or March," Marotta told Tuttosport. Pirlo joined the Bianconeri on a free transfer after leaving AC Milan in the summer of 2011 and has played a pivotal role in the club winning back-to-back Serie A titles. He has featured in each of the Turin side's league games so far this season. The 34-year-old recently insisted that he's keen to sign a contract extension with Juve, but added that he would only stay put if he still feels valued by the Turin giants.

Sep 26, 2013 Juventus forward Fabio Quagliarella has warned his team-mates that they cannot keep going behind if they are to be successful this season. http://markting10.nl/ The Serie A champions surrendered the lead in the fourth successive game on Wednesday as they beat Chievo 2-1 at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi, moving up to third in the Serie A table, two points behind leaders Roma. Cyril Thereau opened the scoring in the 28th minute for the hosts, following a mistake from Gianluigi Buffon, before Quagliarella equalised a minute into the second half with a scrappy effort. Alessandro Bernardini put through his own net on 65 minutes to hand Antonio Conte's men the win, but the Italy international remains wary that his side keep leaving themselves a mountain to climb. "We can't keep letting our opponents take the lead," Quagliarella told the Bianconeri's official website. "It's not a good sign. The coach drummed it into us during the week. It's something that needs to be worked on, even if up until now we've had the character to come back." Conte praised Wednesday's opponents but went on to laud the fighting qualities shown by his players to recover from the dent of going behind in the first half. "Hats off to Chievo, they were very organised," the Turin-based club coach said. "We did well to prevent them from breaking on the counterattack, but going forward - especially in the first half - we attacked with very few players. "That’s something that can happen though, it’s our fourth consecutive game, the sixth for those who played in the international fixtures, and we've rotated many players. "We know it's a tough league and we'll need to fight in every game to gain a result. To lift our heads and overturn the deficit as we've done in the last two games shows we have important qualities." http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

However, I think that these things can happen at the start of a season because it’s part of a journey that will take us back to being in top form.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  20. Torino will attack, says Barzagli Sep 26, 2013 Juventus’ Andrea Barzagli expects rivals Torino to give his side some space in the derby this weekend. http://markting10.nl/ The Old Lady have come up against some conservative teams over the last few weeks, including Chievo last night. “We created a host of chances against Chievo and doing that against a side who just defend isn’t easy,” the Italian international noted following the 2-1 win. “Now we turn our attention to the derby, but I don’t think Torino will only be thinking about defending,” he added. “Last year they played their own game, looking to catch us on the counter-attack. I think they’ll line up in the same way as us and go for it.”

September 25, 2013 8:45 PM Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi — Verona Referee:‬ Andrea De Marco Attendance:‬ 11000‎ Chievo refuse to criticise referees Sep 26, 2013 Chievo Verona have refused to criticise match officials for ruling out a perfectly good goal in their 2-1 loss to Juventus. http://markting10.nl/ With the scores level at 1-1, the home side took the lead when Alberto Paloschi slotted home from close range after Gigi Buffon failed to hold on to the ball. However, the assistant referee raised his flag – although replays show the striker was not in an offside position. “Paloschi’s goal should have been given, but I don’t like crying about things like that,” boss Giuseppe Sannino noted. “Referees can make mistakes and attacking them is not the right thing to do. “My biggest regret is not the disallowed goal, but the two we conceded which could have been avoided. “Now we need to think about the next game, but the performance of my boys against the Italian champions gives me hope.” Meanwhile, President Luca Campedelli actually offered the assistant referee some words of encouragement after the final whistle as he tried to console him. The post game actions of Sannino and Campedelli were praised by Juventus boss Antonio Conte who accepted his team had benefitted. “Today there was an incident that went in our favour and we’ll take heed of it,” the former midfielder noted. “We could have one go against us in future and we’ll accept the decision with the same sportsmanship shown by Sannino and Campedelli.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

It was reported Chievo President Luca Campedelli came down after the game to reassure the linesman who made the error. “Chievo’s sense of fair play is impressive and everyone should follow their example. We were lucky today, because the situation went our way. Having said that, I hope the media won’t go over this incident again and again while ignoring decisions that go against Juventus, such as the penalty on Carlos Tevez with Lazio. We want to help the referees, whereas the media want to cause controversy. “It’s starting to get a bit repetitive that we go behind on the first chance,” Conte told Mediaset Premium. “Up until that moment the match was in our hands with Gigi Buffon acting as a spectator. We did well to press the reset button at half-time and turn it around after the break. “In the locker room I spoke about tactical situations and fortunately my players listen to what I have to say. It’s an important victory for us during a difficult period of the season that made squad rotation necessary.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  23. CHIEVO VERONA 1 - 2 JUVENTUS Cyril Thereau (28') Fabio Quagliarella (47') Alessandro Bernardini (65'-O.G.) September 25, 2013 8:45 PM Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi — Verona Referee:‬ Andrea De Marco Attendance:‬ 11000‎ Player Ratings Goal took in the action at Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi, where the lethargic Italian champions came from behind to clinch a lucky away win in controversial circumstances. Sep 25, 2013 CHIEVO Christian Puggioni - Unfortunate to concede on both occasions and was very assured between the posts otherwise. Alessandro Bernardini - Gave a good account of himself in defence, working well in tandem with the rest of the backline to snuff out the danger from the opposition. However, he was desperately unfortunate to slide the ball into his own net on a full-stretch attempt at a clearance. Dos Santos - A very strong game in defence, as he was always tight on the likes of Quagliarella, and made it difficult for Juve to get a sight on goal. Bostjan Cesar - Hardly put a foot wrong at the back, using his feet, head and anything else to prevent the ball from reaching its target in the box. Gennaro Sardo - Performed well on the right side of the hosts' defence, tracking Peluso well and showing a safety first approach. Boukary Dramé - Very aggressive on Isla out wide, and though he did see yellow for clipping the Juve man, his tenacity was a big reason that the visitors did not find much joy down that side of the pitch. Simone Bentivoglio - Kept his poise remarkably well to pounce on a poor Gianluigi Buffon clearance and slide a neat pass into Cyril Thereau for Chievo's first half opener. On the periphery of the game otherwise. Marcelo Estigarribia - Had one or two openings where he was able to put in a decent delivery on the left, but generally, it was a game of minimal impact from him. Luca Rigoni - Clogged up play effectively in the centre of the park, showing no hesitation to put a tackle in or sit deep to close off avenues at the top of the box. Alberto Paloschi - Mostly found it hard to manufacture space for himself, and even his attempts to drift wide usually went unheeded. Another unlucky player for the home side, seeing his rebounded goal incorrectly chalked off for offside. Cyril Thereau - Slid home an excellent finish for Chievo's goal, and was very intelligent with his use of the ball throughout. Substitutions Ivan Radovanovic - Added nothing positive to his side's endeavors on the pitch. Matteo Ardemagni - Could not get many meaningful touches on the ball in his relatively short spell on the pitch. http://markting10.nl/ JUVENTUS Gianluigi Buffon - A dreadful clearance saw Chievo get the ball in a position to score the opener, and he also spilled a shot badly into the path of Paloschi to score, but on that occasion, he was bailed out by a bogus offside call. A bundle of nerves throughout and one of his worst games for a long while. Andrea Barzagli - Largely impeccable at the back, reading the game well and making the defensive plays that his side needed when Chievo broke forward. Angelo Obinze Ogbonna - Showed good pace to chase down the likes of Paloschi on the counter, and did little wrong on the night. Giorgio Chiellini - Was his typically uncompromising self at the back, putting in a number of successful tackles, and marshalling the opposition forwards well. Mauricio Isla - A forgettable game for Mauricio Isla, as his defending was weak and passive, while he messed up possession multiple times on the ball. Paul Pogba - Drifted out wide to great effect to put a few choice deliveries into the box, with two such balls setting up the events of both of his side's goals. A menace in the middle as well, breaking up play and driving Juve forward. Andrea Pirlo - Found it hard to prise open the opposition in the face of a determined rearguard effort from Chievo. Lost the ball once or twice under pressure in the second half as he began to tire. Claudio Marchisio - Had a solid defensive game throughout, but really started to contribute in an attacking sense in the second half, threatening regularly from the top of the box. Federico Peluso - Offered his side little in the way of enterprise or directness out wide, and as a result, Juve's penetration and general attacking threat suffered. Fernando Llorente - For a man of his stature and reputation, he was rather disappointing in the air, failing to get a good connection on the multiple headed chances that fell his way. Still finding his feet in Italian football. Fabio Quagliarella - More dynamic and hungry than his strike partner Fernando Llorente, but most of his endeavours led him down dead ends, as the defence was able to thwart him. However, his tenacity was rewarded with a goal on the rebound to bring Juve level at the start of the second half. Substitutions Stephan Lichtsteiner - Gave a more assured display on the right flank than Mauricio Isla, proving more careful on the ball. Carlos Tévez - Provided his side with a welcome respite up front, as his willingness to run with the ball kept pressure away from his side's goal. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  24. CHIEVO VERONA 1 - 2 JUVENTUS Cyril Thereau (28') Fabio Quagliarella (47') Alessandro Bernardini (65'-O.G.) September 25, 2013 8:45 PM Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi — Verona Referee:‬ Andrea De Marco Attendance:‬ 11000‎ Controversial win for the Comeback Kings Sep 25, 2013 Already defined as the comeback kings this season, Juve simply aren’t Juve unless they have conceded first. Inter, Copenhagen, Hellas Verona and now Chievo Verona -- all four of the Old Lady’s recent opponents scored the first goal. Thankfully, for the second time in four days against a Veronese side, Antonio Conte's men managed to collect maximum points in a 2-1 win over Chievo Wednesday to keep their place in the Serie A table. http://markting10.nl/ Much like Hellas Verona did Sunday, Chievo opted to change their formation to counteract Juve's strength in the middle. A side that has played a 4-4-2 in all their previous Serie A clashes this season, tonight they opted to bolster the defence by playing a dull 5-3-2. The result? As boring as one would expect. Giuseppe Sannino's men played deep with practically all their players behind the ball and congested the area so the Bianconeri could not weave their way through the middle. This not only stopped the forwards connecting, but it halted the midfielders from making timely runs into the box. The were simply no spaces between the lines, and the likes of Andrea Pirlo were marked closely to cut Juve's creativity at the source. The only space available to Conte’s men was in the wide areas. Unfortunately, there was little they could do with that option as most passes delivered into the box were poor, with very few reaching the intended recipient. Moreover, the Old Lady played without pace, allowing the Flying Donkeys all the time in the world to take up their positions and defend staunchly. Fernando Llorente was especially frustrated and did everything he could to impress his coach. He hustled, fouled, fell in the box but most importantly he fought, even if his efforts seemed a tad dramatic at times. As seems to happen with the Old Lady these days, they conceded from Chievo’s first venture into the opposite side of the pitch. Gianluigi Buffon, apparently capable of an odd moment of ineptitude, cleared poorly and gifted the opponents an attacking opportunity, which led to a Cyril Thereau goal. One shot, one goal -- the story of Juve's opponents so far this season. Hyperbolic statements aside, Juventus had to work hard for the victory. The second half saw a much more courageous Old Lady, who hastened her tempo and threw men forward to encourage an equaliser at the very least. Less than two minutes into the second half and their prayers were answered as Fabio Quagliarella grabbed the leveler. Whilst the change in tempo inspired a positive turn, what truly made the difference were Paul Pogba’s accurate deliveries into the box from the wide areas that he roamed into more and more. The youngster succeeded where the likes of Federico Peluso and Mauricio Isla failed. Pinpoint deliveries into the middle not only resulted in Quagliarella’s equaliser but in the own goal that won Juve the game. Sadly for Sannino’s men, Alberto Paloschi’s goal was wrongly ruled offside. Buffon had committed yet another monumental error and Paloschi exploited the opportunity to score from the rebound. The referee gave the goal but the linesman, according to Sannino, waved his flag and forced the ref to cancel it, as he duly did. The home side were understandably furious and they soon descended into aggressive play before they calmed their ways. Controversy is the media’s bread and butter and this incident will be discussed at great lengths with the likes of Calciomercato immediately publishing an online report with the headline surrounding the ‘Mystery of the cancelled goal’. Juventus, for their courage and the manner in which they controlled the ball when in the lead, deserved the win. They sped up the tempo and left themselves vulnerable when chasing the lead. When it was attained, they held on to the result with relative ease as they fought to secure the defence and maintain possession. Their maturity proved to be the difference in the end. Now if they could only learn how not to concede first .... http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  25. CHIEVO VERONA 1 - 2 JUVENTUS Cyril Thereau (28') Fabio Quagliarella (47') Alessandro Bernardini (65'-O.G.) September 25, 2013 8:45 PM Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi — Verona Referee:‬ Andrea De Marco Attendance:‬ 11000‎ Own goal gives Juve edge Sep 25, 2013 Juventus needed an own-goal from Alessandro Bernardini to come from behind and beat Chievo 2-1 at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi. http://markting10.nl/ Despite the fact Juve were still chasing runaway joint leaders Roma and Napoli, coach Antonio Conte opted to rest in-form stars Arturo Vidal and Carlos Tevez and it backfired as Cyril Thereau found his way through a sluggish visiting defence to open the scoring. Fabio Quagliarella dragged his colleagues back into the game after the break but an under-par Bianconeri side were generally short on ideas and were lucky that the hapless Bernardini gifted them all three points. Napoli were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom side Sassuolo, though, allowing Juve to take a share of second place while Roma moved two points clear at the top after beating Sampdoria 2-0. It was a slow start at the Bentegodi and it took 14 minutes for Alberto Paloschi to try his luck, only for Giorgio Chiellini to make the block. Fernando Llorente's sighter at the other end lacked accuracy but the build-up play was impressive and Juve came knocking again with Paul Pogba leaping at a Federico Peluso cross. The visitors continued to turn the screw, so it was a surprise when Chievo took the lead in the 28th minute. Gianluigi Buffon made a hash of a short pass out to his defence and Gennardo Sardo gratefully swept up the ball to give it to Thereau, who confidently whipped home on the half-volley. The Bianconeri would not suffer any further embarrassment before the break but they failed to make the most of several chances to equalise. Quagliarella's snapshot fell to Andrea Pirlo, whose follow-up effort went out for a corner and, two minutes before half-time, Llorente fluffed an easy header from a Mauricio Isla cross. Juve put their heads together over the interval and contrived to level the scores two minutes after the restart. Pogba was heavily involved in supplying Quagliarella for two shots against the flailing Puggioni. The Chievo goalkeeper moved quickly to save both, but could not keep a third out. Ten minutes later Chievo would find themselves behind when they could have been leading 2-1. Another mistake from Buffon when dealing with Simone Bentivoglio's shot saw Paloschi bundle over the line, but the offside flag denied him a goal. Chievo did not protest too much but they were enraged when Bernardini contrived to stub the ball past his own keeper under pressure from Llorente in the 65th minute. Conte knew his side had been poor and, in his search for a decisive third goal, he introduced the rested Tevez for the final throes. The Argentinian certainly spiced up the forward line but three minutes of stoppage time were not enough for the former Manchester City man to put his team out of sight in Verona. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
