JUVENTUS - GENOA October 27, 2013 3:00 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Daniele Doveri HT 2-0: Juve lead Genoa Oct 27, 2013 Juventus have the 2-0 lead over Genoa at half-time thanks to an Arturo Vidal penalty and Carlos Tevez strike. http://markting10.nl/ The Bianconeri badly needed a boost after two consecutive defeats to Fiorentina and Real Madrid, but were without Fabio Quagliarella, Mirko Vucinic and Stephan Lichtsteiner. Genoa were revived under Gian Piero Gasperini, picking up four points from two games, though Emanuele Calaiò was injured and Francelino Matuzalem dropped as punishment for drunk-driving. Genoa’s last victory in Turin was down to Tomas Skhuravy’s goal in February 1991, but the only other success was back in 1937. In the opening minute Paul Pogba fell far too easily under pressure from Daniele Portanova, so the referee waved play on. Pogba had another chance created by Fernando Llorente, but hesitated and allowed Mattia Perin to smother at his feet. http://markting10.nl/ Perin was again alert to deny Lorente by sticking out a leg, then the crossbar came to his rescue on an Arturo Vidal blockbuster from distance. Davide Biondini clearly tripped Kwadwo Asamoah right on the edge of the area and the referee opted for a penalty, though it could’ve been centimetres outside. Vidal stepped up and blasted a powerful spot-kick into the roof of the net. http://markting10.nl/ Andrea Pirlo went forward on the counter and hesitated, eventually allowing Perin to deny his side-foot finish with an excellent save. Pogba’s strike flashed across the face of goal. Carlos Tevez made it 2-0 with a fine individual move, skipping past a defender to place his angled drive across Perin. Juventus 2-0 Genoa (Half-Time) Scorers: Vidal pen 23 (J), Tevez 36 (J) Juventus: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Isla, Vidal, Pirlo, Pogba, Asamoah; Tevez, Llorente Genoa: Perin; Antonini, Portanova, Manfredini, Marchese; Vrsaljko, Kucka, Biondini, Antonelli; Bertolacci; Gilardino Ref: Doveri http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

JUVENTUS - GENOA October 27, 2013 3:00 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Daniele Doveri Line-ups: Juventus-Genoa Oct 27, 2013 The pressure is on for Juventus to turn the tide after poor results and they host Gian Piero Gasperini’s revived Genoa. http://markting10.nl/ It begins at the Juventus Stadium at 15.00 CET. The Bianconeri have never been in this situation under Antonio Conte, suffering two consecutive defeats between Fiorentina and Real Madrid. A victory here is essential not only to silence critics, but also to ensure the five-point gap from leaders Roma doesn’t expand. http://markting10.nl/ Stephan Lichtsteiner, Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella are still unavailable, so Fernando Llorente partners Carlos Tevez again. Genoa appear to have been revived under Gasperini, earning a draw and a victory since replacing Fabio Liverani. It’s a return to Turin for Gasp, who was in charge of the Juventus youth team before branching out on his own. http://markting10.nl/ Emanuele Calaiò is injured, but Francelino Matuzalem is dropped as punishment after he was caught drunk-driving in the city this week. Francesco Lodi is surprisingly not in the starting XI. Luca Antonelli is available again after a long lay-off, but Genoa haven’t won in Turin since Tomas Skhuravy’s goal in February 1991. http://markting10.nl/ Juventus: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Isla, Vidal, Pirlo, Pogba, Asamoah; Tevez, Llorente Genoa: Perin; Manfredini, Portanova, Antonini; Vrsaljko, Kucka, Biondini, Marchese; Bertolacci, Gilardino, Antonelli. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

Chiellini: 'New spark in Juventus' Oct 27, 2013 Giorgio Chiellini insists the defeat to Real Madrid “sparked something within” Juventus that they’ll unleash on Genoa. http://markting10.nl/ The Bianconeri were beaten 2-1 after Chiellini’s controversial red card on Wednesday, their second consecutive defeat in all competition. They aim to get back on track this afternoon against Genoa. “Mistakes can happen and are part of the sport,” Chiellini told the Corriere dello Sport. http://markting10.nl/ “The penalty is in the past now, along with Cristiano Ronaldo’s attitude. There’s no point looking for controversy, so we have to focus on Genoa and Alberto Gilardino. “Despite the defeat in Madrid, we realised that we can battle it out with the top clubs. We emerged with our heads held high and it sparked something within us, something that had recently been lost. http://markting10.nl/ “Now the step up in quality will be repeating that performance against Genoa, Catania and Parma. We must begin again from Real Madrid and forget the final 15 minutes against Fiorentina, where something completely unpredictable happened.” Juve had been 2-0 up in Florence last week only to lose 4-2.

JUVENTUS - GENOA October 27, 2013 3:00 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Daniele Doveri Preview: Juventus vs. Genoa Oct 26, 2013 Juventus switch their focus back to domestic commitments this weekend when they take on Genoa on home turf. http://markting10.nl/ Juve had a strong run in Serie A by clinching four consecutive victories, but they stumbled to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Fiorentina last weekend, as well as a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League. Antonio Conte's side have the advantage of being at home when they try to get back on track, while Genoa have lost two of their four matches on the road so far this season. http://markting10.nl/ The visitors can grab their second victory in a row if they upset Juventus this weekend following a 2-1 win over AC Chievo Verona. Ricardo Centurion, Alberto Gilardino and Mario Santana are likely to start in attack for Genoa, while Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente should be used as forward threats for Juventus. JUVENTUS - GENOA October 27, 2013 3:00 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Daniele Doveri Juventus vs. Genoa Preview: Round 9 — Home is where the heart is And, ya know, where the wins are, too. That's nice. Oct 26, 2013 The lead up to Juventus' first game after a very good showing against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu can be summed up in one question: "What's next?" http://markting10.nl/ No, really. That could be it. I could just drop the mic right here and be done with this preview. That sounds like a great idea. Sure hope they listen. But for the sake of this space of the internet and the valued visitors, I will continue to ramble. Juventus play their first home game in 21 days tomorrow afternoon in Turin when Genoa comes to town as the Old Lady gets back to the chase for a third straight Scudetto. The same Genoa team that has already changed managers — bringing back Gian Piero Gasperini to the club after Fabio Liverani was sacked at the end of September — starting the season around the same place in the Serie A table where they finished the 2012-13 campaign. Sounds like a pretty good situation for Juve, doesn't it? http://markting10.nl/ Well, yeah. And it's not just because Genoa's last five games read as D-L-L-D-W, either. Juventus are coming off a game they feel they should have done better in on the scoreboard. They certainly deserved more than getting a loss with the way they played. What does that mean? That they're going to be angry. And who wants to face Juventus when they're angry? Don't answer that. You know what I mean. At least I hope you know what I mean. Back to the topic: What's the key to being at the top of the table? Beating the teams you're supposed to beat. http://markting10.nl/ I think it's safe to say the way Genoa are going to begin the season, Juventus want to not just win it, but show that Wednesday's performance was just the start of something new rather than a one-time thing amidst a string of so-so performances. Or, maybe in this case, they're getting back to being the Juve of old. GOOD NEWS Juventus are playing in front of the hometown crowd for the first time in what seems like a long time. Sure, it was only three weeks ago, but it seems like much longer than that. Juventus fans have had to go elsewhere to see their squad in action. But now, for the first time in three weeks, they won't have to go all that far at all. http://markting10.nl/ You think Conte is happy to be playing at Juventus Stadium again? JuventusFC ✔ @juventusfcen Conte: Our fans are also vital to us and must support us with enthusiasm, hunger and verve from the stands. Yeah, I think he is. Welcome home, guys. BAD NEWS Injuries are still here and making their presence be known. No Stephan Lichtsteiner again. No Mirko Vucinic again. No Fabio Quagliarella again. We've kinda figured that would be the case for the time being, but it still limits Conte's options. And, according to Conte at his pre-match press conference, Sebastian Giovinco has been battling to regain full fitness ever since his heroics against Milan three weeks ago. Great. http://markting10.nl/ WHAT TO WATCH FOR 1. Post-Champions League letdown. We've been down this road before. And sometimes it hasn't been the most pleasant of trips. But the reality tells us all that whenever Juventus play in the Champions League, the next league game doesn't go as well as it probably should. That doesn't mean Juve won't take the field and beat Genoa 5-0, but history tells us things might not be as great as we might hope. For whatever reason, the game after the Champions League the past year and change has been an issue for Conte and his squad. http://markting10.nl/ 2. Back to the 3-5-2 in Serie A? To answer my own question: Yeah, that's exactly what it seems like. Sky Italia is reporting it, same with another one of the other media outlets in Italy. The 4-3-3 may be something Conte goes back to down the road, but for the time being in Serie A, it's back to the norm aka 3-5-2. Obviously the end product — outside of the result — against Real Madrid was very good, one we've been waiting weeks to actually see come to fruition. But with everything pointing to Conte returning to his base three-man defense, it probably shouldn't be all that surprising. You gotta admit, though, the thought of a three-man attack with Tevez and Giovinco flanking Llorente is enticing in the immediate future. We'll just have to be patient, I guess. http://markting10.nl/ 3. The continued development of Fernando Llorente. By his own admission, adapting to everything that comes with being a Juventus player wasn't exactly the easiest thing to do for Mr. Llorente. There was learning tactics, learning the system and just shaking off the rust after barely playing at all last season. But since Juventus have come out of the international break, Llorente has played a lot of minutes and showed that he is starting to really get "it." Who knows if this was all the plan or the injuries to Quagliarella and Vucinic helped accelerate his introduction to life as a starting striker at Juventus, but it's nice to see Llorente playing and being productive. But all of this doesn't matter because Llorente's going to Arsenal in the January transfer window, right? http://markting10.nl/ 4. What kind of squad rotation there will be. The game following a physical battle in Madrid makes for a perfect time to do some squad rotation. And if you don't think it should be that way, maybe we should go ask Arturo Vidal how he was feeling in the hours following the 2-1 loss in Madrid. Regardless, every indication is that on top of a return to the 3-5-2, there will be some new faces in the starting lineup. Who exactly will rotated in and/or out is obviously still to be determined, but the impression Conte gave during Saturday's presser was that changes are going to happen. Just as long as Marco Motta stays very far away from actually stepping on the field... http://markting10.nl/ 5. The impact of Juventus' wingers. With an expected switch back to the 3-5-2, that means it's back to having wingbacks in the lineup. That also means trying to keep track of how many crosses actually are on target. So get excited folks! But with somebody like Llorente expected to be on the field, having somebody who can send the ball in from the wing could prove to be valuable. Rumblings say Mauricio Isla is going to start on the right wing with Kwadwo Asamoah on the left, so it still remains to be seen if Juve actually do get production from the two wide players. It'd be nice, I'll tell you that much. http://markting10.nl/ My starting XI (3-5-2): Storari; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Caceres, Pogba, Pirlo, Marchisio, Asamoah; Llorente, Tevez http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

JUVENTUS - GENOA October 27, 2013 3:00 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Daniele Doveri Juventus News – Return to 3-5-2, Genoa History Oct 26, 2013 Man, this is a weird season. Juventus are the reigning Italian champions and currently sitting only five points behind Roma (who, excellent form aside, have also benefited from a relatively weaker schedule and — fingers crossed — can’t possibly keep this up forever). Yet the past month-and-a-half has been mostly joyless, with the very worst stretches eerily reminiscent of TDDBC (The Dark Days Before Conte). http://markting10.nl/ At the start of the new season, the Bianconeri were to all outward appearances primed for the next level; now, they’re struggling just to stay at the current one. You can point to any number of reasons, but it still feels baffling. And to cap it all off, this week saw the mother of all paradoxes: On Wednesday evening in Madrid, the situation got simultaneously better and worse. Better, because Juve played a truly inspiring match vs. Real Madrid, one which perhaps finally woke them up for good. Worse, because after all the self-sabotage and lucky escapes of this recent stretch of matches, this time around the Bianconeri were ultimately victims of injustice. http://markting10.nl/ You probably know the facts by now: A 50/50 penalty call (still, Giorgio Chiellini should have known better); a ludicrous red card for the Kaiser following a shameless flop from Cristiano Ronaldo (who deserves every bit of criticism thrown his way); and a host of calls favoring Real. The red card ruined what looked to be a thrilling match, but even down a man and suffering from an unconscionable officiating performance, Juve never gave up seeking an equalizer. Still, the 2-1 loss leaves Juve in dire European straits, on the edge of losing control of their Champions League destiny. On the domestic front, the good news is that the worst part of the Serie A andata schedule is over. Napoli is in November, but the other heavyweights are behind them; Juve won’t even see Roma for the first time until 2014. The bad news is that with the league being at its most competitive in years, the Bianconeri’s margin of error is very slim; Juve need to reel off a string of emphatic victories to get back to the top of the table and restore self-confidence. http://markting10.nl/ It starts on Sunday, when Juventus will host Genoa, who are currently dangling three points above the relegation drop. There is simply no excuse for anything other than a resounding win. Juve insisted on making things “interesting” for themselves. Now it’s time to return to domestic dominance and renew their European challenge. However boring that may be. http://markting10.nl/ Genoa Clash: Return to 3-5-2 Hiding in plain sight behind Wednesday night’s controversy was the fact that Antonio Conte’s switch to a 4-3-1-2/4-3-3 and its 10-man variations were relatively successful. Aside from the preventable opening goal, Juve did well to limit Real’s chances, both before and — remarkably — after Chiellini was sent off. Still, for Sunday’s match with Genoa, reports from Italy indicate that Antonio Conte will likely return to the familiar 3-5-2 formation. At this point, indications regarding Conte’s starting XI remain vague. The attack should be pretty straightforward: Carlos Tevez will start, as he is simply our best option for any given week, and he had the better part of two weeks off during the international break. As there are only two strikers available behind him (on what passes for a depth chart these days), Fernando Llorente and Sebastian Giovinco will duke it out for a starting shirt. Expect Llorente to win out, since he’s coming off the goal in Madrid and will provide some tactical variety in the attacking third. Little Seba will certainly make an appearance in the second half if he doesn’t start. http://markting10.nl/ In the midfield, where exhaustion still reigns supreme, Andrea Pirlo seems to be a lock, seeing as how he didn’t play the full 90 against Real. Claudio Marchisio and Arturo Vidal should be relatively fresh; perhaps it’s best to give Paul Pogba a bit of a rest this weekend. On the still-Lichtsteiner-less right flank, the old lesser-of-two-evils choice between Mauricio Isla and Simone Padoin will present itself once again, unless Conte sees fit to put Martin Caceres in the role (please do, Mister). Kwadwo Asamoah should start on the left, though if Conte’s feeling conservative, Federico Peluso or Paolo De Ceglie could be used. In defense, Conte may choose to give Angelo Ogbonna a run out at his preferred center-back position to help him forget his performance on the left in Madrid; he simply is not a left-back. Otherwise, Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini will all vie for a spot; it seems logical that Bonucci will start, as he only came on as a substitute on Wednesday. Finally, recently embattled Gigi Buffon (see below) should start in goal; Sunday will hopefully be a confidence-booster for him. http://markting10.nl/ As stated above, there is very little excuse for anything other than three points won in convincing fashion. Juve need goals and stops in equal measure, and though Genoa will undoubtedly reserve the “right of the weak” to park their 11-man bus behind the ball, the Bianconeri have the players and tactical nous to overcome such negativity. Let’s think positive thoughts. Doveri Refs Genoa I imagine we’re in favor a quiet weekend as far as officiating goes. No penalties, no red cards, a smooth flow — anything but the hysterical blindness of Madrid or the police state of Fiorentina. Entrusted with our hopes for relative tranquility is Daniele Doveri of Rome, who will preside over the Genoa match at Juventus Stadium. http://markting10.nl/ According to the official site, this will be Doveri’s second Juve match, the last being a 2-0 victory over Cesena in December of 2011 (Vidal and Marchisio scored, fun was had by all). Doveri’s linesmen will be Fabrizio Posado and Alfonso Marrazzo. Simone Ghiandai will be fourth official and keep the car running, just in case. Previous Genoa Encounters in Turin: Draws, Draws, Draws Juve will host Genoa on Sunday looking to get their season back in order, in addition to overturning a historical precedent for frustration. According to the official site, the last two Turin ties between Juve and Genoa have resulted in stalemates: In the first fixture between the two at Juventus’ new stadium in the 2011/12 season, Genoa came back from a goal down twice to deny a Bianconeri win. http://markting10.nl/ First, Alessandro Matri’s opener – an instinctive poke of Claudio Marchisio’s long-distance effort into the corner – was cancelled out by a swift counter attack finished off by a header from Marco Rossi. Andrea Pirlo’s dummy then allowed Matri the space to slot home a second, but a clever dink from Andrea Caracciolo meant the Rossoblu drew level right at the death.” When the sides met again in Turin last season, Juventus eventually took the lead through Fabio Quagliarella’s close range finish after a number of early chances had passed them by. http://markting10.nl/ But, in a similar story to the year before, Genoa recovered thanks to a diving header from Marco Borriello, who had been on loan at Juventus during the previous campaign. It was a tense end to the game as a Sebastian Giovinco free-kick hit the post and the referee waved away claims for a penalty after what looked to be a handball from Andreas Granqvist, but in the end it remained 1-1. Even further back in time, the two sides couldn’t reach a decision—though in their very first meeting Juve happily won the war, despite drawing the battle: http://markting10.nl/ Apart from these two recent draws, though, there have only ever been two others between the two sides in Turin throughout all of the 31 seasons in which Juventus have lifted the title. One of those dates back to 1994/95, when Fabio Galante’s goal to equalise after Fabrizio Ravanelli had put the Bianconeri in front should not have stood because it did not cross the line. The first ever encounter between the two sides in Turin also finished 1-1. All the action occurred in the first 20 minutes that day in April 1905, with a Genoa response courtesy of Max Mayer following Luigi Forlano’s opener for Juve. http://markting10.nl/ That result was one of the most famous ever for Juventus, because it meant they finished above none other than Genoa in the table to clinch their very first league title. That’s more like it. Still, let’s hope Sunday shakes those draws out of our Vecchia Signora’s system. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

JUVENTUS - GENOA October 27, 2013 3:00 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Daniele Doveri Juventus v Genoa – Team News, Tactics, Possible Line-ups And Prediction Oct 26, 2013 Juventus find themselves five points off the pace to a brilliant AS Roma side in Serie A table. The Old Lady will be looking to bounce back from last match day’s devastating outcome by returning to winning ways against Genoa. http://markting10.nl/ Team News and Tactical Brief Juventus The past week has been quite topsy-turvy for Juventus and the Bianconeri have lost back to back matches within the span of a few days, albeit the manner of their losses were dramatically different. On the weekend Juventus were quietly cruising towards an important away win Florence after taking a 2-0 lead. Then as Conte put it later “Something happened”. An incredible and unexpected blitz of clinical counter attacks saw Giuseppe Rossi become the first Fiorentina player in over half a century to score a hattrick against Juventus. By the time the dust had settled, Juventus found themselves down 4-2 after conceding the highest number of goals in Antonio Conte era. It was an utter and absolute implosion, straight out of the dark days under Alberto Zaccheroni and Gigi Delneri eras. The defeat to Real Madrid though, was a sharp contrast and left Juventus fans with a sense of positivity which some laboured victories this season didn’t do. Conte finally decided to switch back to a four man defence, taking a gamble on playing just fit Martin Caceres and Angelo Ogbonna as left-back. Conte’s decision to use a 4-3-3/4-3-1-2 formation worked reasonably well as Juventus dished out a much more improved performance in a tight game which was slightly shaded by Giorgio Chiellini’s much debated sending off in second half. Juventus defence, which has been uncharacteristically porous this season also looked somewhat solid against one of the best offensive line-ups in football right now. http://markting10.nl/ Despite the relative success of the new formation against Real Madrid, Conte is likely to go back to his 3-5-2 formation which has served Juventus well in the league in past two seasons. Martin Caceres’ highly impressive performances should see him start as one of the central defenders along with Leonardo Bonucci. Kwadwo Asamoah is also likely to make a return to the left wing-back position with Paul Pogba starting on the right side. Pogba’s deployment may be another experiment from Conte. The French starlet did make a difference by playing in the same position against AC Milan but has not started a game as a right wing-back. Both Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella are still out injured which may see Carlos Tevez once again pair up with Fernando Llorente upfront. Sebastien Giovinco may also make an entrance in this match at some point. http://markting10.nl/ Possible Starting XI: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Caceres; Pogba, Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio, Asamoah; Llorente, Tevez Genoa The oldest football club in Italy barely escaped relegation last season and by the looks of it, they may be following the same pattern this season. Genoa are sitting at 15th spot of the table and have won only twice this season. They had a tough start to their Serie A fixture list but seemed to have turned a corner when they clinched an easy 3-0 win over Sampdoria in the Derby della Laterna. That win didn’t kick-start their form eventually as they went into a 4 match winless streak. In last match-day, Genoa grabbed their first home win this season as Alberto Gilardino scored a brace to guide the Girfoni to a 2-1 victory over Chievo. Genoa have been poor travellers in the league in past 2-3 seasons and they may have their task cut out against a Juventus team itching to get back to winning ways. Giampiero Gasperini’s return also sees Genoa coming out in the 3-4-3 formation that made them reasonably successful during the previous tenure under the same coach. Gasperini’s 3-4-3 system is characterized by width provided wing-backs who constantly push up though his teams have often lacked defensive solidity. Gasperini’s system is another reason why Conte is likely to switch back to Juve’s often used 3-5-2 formation. http://markting10.nl/ Genoa’s central defence has been particularly week this season and it may be stretched against the Juve attack this weekend. Veterans Daniele Portanova and Thomas Manfredini have 67 years between two of them and they have often looked slow and lumbering this season. With wing-backs pushing up, Genoa’s three man central defence comes under more pressure and their current central defenders are yet to get accustomed to it, having failed to keep a clean-sheet in past four matches. 21 year old Croatian Šime Vrsaljko is likely to start as right wing-back and will be one of the most crucial players for Genoa. He has a sudden burst of pace and will be looking to trouble Kwadwo Asamoah, who has never been a fully comfortable left wing-back. Alberto Giladino hit his best form since 2010 in Bologna last season, scoring 13 times. With his loan stint bearing fruit Genoa has brought him back and he has been their top scorer so far with 3 out of 8 team goals against his name. Gilardino was strongly linked with a move to Juventus late in the summer transfer market. Though that move eventually didn’t go through, the ex-Milan striker will be looking to prove his worth to the Italian champions. http://markting10.nl/ Possible starting XI: Perin; Antonini, Portanova, Manfredini; Vrsaljko, Biondini, Bertolacci, Marchese; Kucka, Gilardino, Antonelli Players to Watch Out For Fernando Llorente (Juventus) “The Lion King” has been slow off the blocks in Turin but finally seems to have settled down. Llorente held up the ball well against Fiorentina and Real Madrid and even notched up his first Champions League goal in the black & white jersey in mid-week. His combination with Tevez is slowly beginning to work well and the Spaniard is likely to cause problems to Genoa’s weak central defence. Alberto Gilardino (Genoa) Gilardino may not have managed to fully fulfill the promise he showed early in his career but nonetheless has been a very handy striker for Serie A mid-table teams. He has scored over 150 league goals, a decent number by any standards and is coming into this match on the back of a match winning brace. His experience may prove an important factor against a Juventus defence which has made errors this season. http://markting10.nl/ Prediction Juventus 2-0 Genoa Should Juventus maintain the form they showed against Real Madrid in mid-week, this will be a straight forward victory for the defending champions. Either way, home advantage is likely to have a decisive impact on this game and Juventus should come out winners without significant damage to their title hopes. http://markting10.nl/ Blast From The Past http://youtu.be/q7RqlBWKuOc http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

JUVENTUS - GENOA October 27, 2013 3:00 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Daniele Doveri MATCH PREVIEW Oct 26, 2013 Juventus must hit back immediately following dual losses at home and in Europe, but they face a revitalised Genoa outfit. http://markting10.nl/ The Bianconeri were cruising at Fiorentina last weekend. Two goals to the good with 20 minutes remaining, it appeared they would continue a 15-year unbeaten streak in the city thanks to Carlos Tevez and Paul Pogba. That was until the Viola sprung into life and Giuseppe Rossi led an incredible 15-minute demolition. It ended 4-2. In midweek, a spirited Juventus were defeated by Real Madrid in the Champions League. Fernando Llorente scored, but they succumbed to two first half goals from Cristiano Ronaldo. The Bianconeri fought hard despite going down to 10 men early in the second half. http://markting10.nl/ Mirko Vucinic, Fabio Quagliarella, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Simone Pepe skipped the trip to Madrid and remain unavailable for Antonio Conte. Alberto Gilardino struck twice – including a bizarre second goal which ricochet off his face and bounced in – as the Grifoni defeated Chievo last Sunday. Goals in either half, with the winner coming immediately after Chievo’s equaliser, gave Genoa just their second win of the campaign. http://markting10.nl/ It means Gian Piero Gasperini has taken four points from his first two games in charge. Following their slow start under Fabio Liverani, the Rossoblu have gradually hit back, but against sides also near the foot of the table. This weekend they face a different challenge. Emanuele Calaió cannot make the journey to Turin, while Mario Santana is in doubt. His condition is to be assessed in the upcoming days. Genoa held Juventus to a 1-1 draw last term, the second successive draw in the fixture and ninth overall. However, the Turin giants dominate with 35 wins. JUVENTUS - GENOA October 27, 2013 3:00 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Daniele Doveri How Juventus Will Line Up Against Genoa Oct 26, 2013 Juve have endured a tough week, with a controversial defeat in the Champions League to Real Madrid following up their shocking loss to Fiorentina. http://markting10.nl/ Antonio Conte tried to change things at the Santiago Bernabeu, and even though the end result was defeat, a back four appeared to at least be worth examining further. Leonardo Bonucci dropped to the bench and Martin Caceres and Angelo Ogbonna came in to play at full-back. The playacting from Cristiano Ronaldo conned the referee into sending off Giorgio Chiellini, making the Bianconeri's task even more difficult, but the character shown by his players will please Conte. http://markting10.nl/ Aaron Giambattista @agiamba SKY- That wasn't a sending off for Chiellini. Pogba- "It was shocking. It wasn't a red card, but the ref made that decision regardless." The Old Lady could have stolen a point with Sebastian Giovinco guilty of wasting a chance to drive straight towards goal. Genoa present a different challenge on the domestic scene this weekend, which will probably mean that Juve are tasked with breaking down the opposition, rather than the reactionary tactics needed against Los Merengues, who assumed control in Madrid. Conte appears to be content with bringing back his tried-and-tested 3-5-2 system, but with a twist. http://markting10.nl/ With Stephan Lichtsteiner's absence likely to continue through injury, Conte is unsatisfied by the reserve options at right midfield. Simone Padoin has failed to impress, while Mauricio Isla was even snubbed at the Stadio Artemio Franchi last Sunday when Marco Motta was incredulously put on as Juve tried to stem the relentless waves of Viola attacks. The other problem that continues is at the heart of the side, with Paul Pogba's form meaning his is now a permanent fixture in the Juve starting lineup, but with Claudio Marchisio, Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal also available, there is a selection dilemma for the coach. http://markting10.nl/ It appears as if Pogba might be prepared to move to the wing, a role that he played for half-an-hour when Juve were chasing the match against Galatasaray. Kwadwo Asamoah was given a torrid time by Joaquin last Sunday and paid the price by being dropped to the bench for the Champions League midweek, but the Ghanaian will come back in at left midfield after Ogbonna failed to command consecutive starts. With injury concerns for Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella, Conte can consider himself fortunate to have Fernando Llorente showing signs that he is about to enter a rich vein of form. http://markting10.nl/ The Spaniard equalised against Real Madrid with a quick reaction to Iker Casillas' save from Pogba's header, and now it will be a case of whether he can develop a better understanding with Carlos Tevez. The Grifone will present a stern test for Juve, and with three draws in the last four matches between the two teams, Gian Piero Gasperini will be hopeful that his second spell in charge of the Gialloblu can continue to prosper. But preparations appeared to have been marred with the news that central midfielder Matuzalem has had a brush with the law, reported by Italian newspaper La Repubblica, which could make his presence at the Juventus Stadium this weekend in doubt. http://markting10.nl/ Omid Zamani @Juventus__fan Francelino Matuzalem was stopped by Police last night on the seafront at Arenzano while intoxicated With Gasperini's 3-4-3 formation, the clash of styles should make for a thoroughly entertaining game with a huge variety of tactics on display. Off the field though, Juve have received better news with a new kit sponsorship, announced on the club's official website, with Adidas to commence in 2015. http://markting10.nl/ The deal will run over six years and bring in €139.5 million, aligning the club with some of the biggest kit sponsorships in Europe. Signore Calcio @SignoreCalcio Juventus will earn as much as Bayern Munich and Arsenal with Adidas' kit sponsorship and merchandise deals. Juve leapfrog over Milan & City. Probable XI: Gianluigi Buffon; Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini; Paul Pogba, Claudio Marchisio, Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal, Kwadwo Asamoah; Carlos Tevez, Fernando Llorente. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

JUVENTUS - GENOA October 27, 2013 3:00 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Daniele Doveri Juventus-Genoa Preview: Bianconeri look to halt slide The Serie A champions have tasted defeat in consecutive matches to Fiorentina and Real Madrid and will hope to get back to winning ways this weekend. Oct 26, 2013 Juventus go in search of a swift reaction to back-to-back defeats when they entertain Genoa in Serie A on Sunday. The reigning champions suffered a second-half collapse as they let a two-goal advantage slip in their 4-2 defeat to Fiorentina in their last Serie A outing. http://markting10.nl/ And Antonio Conte's side followed up that disappointment by succumbing to a 2-1 Champions League loss to Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday. Despite those setbacks, Juventus are in good shape overall in Serie A, having amassed 19 points from eight games to sit third in the table. The Turin outfit have a 100 per cent winning record at Juventus Stadium in the league this season too, seeing off Lazio, Verona and AC Milan on their own turf so far. http://markting10.nl/ Conte has no fresh injury concerns, with Mirko Vucinic and Simone Pepe (both thigh) set to be their only absentees. Gian Piero Gasperini - who began his second spell at Genoa last month - will look to guide his team to a second consecutive Serie A victory. Alberto Gilardino was the hero in their 2-1 triumph over Chievo last time out, as his double sandwiched an effort from Simone Bentivoglio. http://markting10.nl/ But Genoa have struggled for consistency this season, and occupy 15th position having mustered just two victories from eight league games. JUVENTUS - GENOA October 27, 2013 3:00 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Daniele Doveri Conte: Juventus must work hard for Scudetto The Bianconeri boss acknowledges the task facing his side to finish top of the table for a third consecutive time with the likes of Roma, Napoli and Inter on their tails. Oct 26, 2013 Juventus boss Antonio Conte has admitted it will be hard for his team to finish top of Serie A for a third year in a row. http://markting10.nl/ The Bianconeri finished comfortably clear of Napoli in 2012-13, but a revamped Partenopei have emerged as genuine challengers in the early part of the current campaign, along with pace-setters Roma. Conte's men have lost two games on the bounce to Fiorentina (4-2) and Real Madrid (2-1), and the former midfielder is eager for his side to bounce back swiftly in order to send a message to their title rivals. "It will be difficult to win a third consecutive Scudetto and everyone at Juventus must work hard," Conte told reporters. http://markting10.nl/ "I am pleased that president Andrea Agnelli reiterated what I often say, which is that we cannot rest on our laurels. We can take nothing for granted. "We'll try to get back to winning ways tomorrow, as this is an important game and the lads are ready. In the last two matches we reaped a lot less than we deserved to. http://markting10.nl/ "Over the last two years Juventus have won almost everything there was to win and rediscovered international appeal. But the past no longer counts. We have to look forward if we are to repeat our success." Juventus host Genoa at 15:00 (CET) on Sunday, with another home tie against Catania next up on Wednesday. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

JUVENTUS - GENOA October 27, 2013 3:00 PM Juventus Stadium — Turin Referee: Daniele Doveri Conte: 'Juve past doesn't count' Oct 26, 2013 Antonio Conte warned Juventus “the past no longer counts” as they have to get back on track against Genoa. http://markting10.nl/ The Bianconeri are coming off two consecutive defeats against Fiorentina and Real Madrid, so the pressure is on ahead of Sunday afternoon’s Serie A encounter. “It will be difficult to win a third consecutive Scudetto and everyone at Juventus must work hard,” said the Coach in his Press conference. “I am pleased that President Andrea Agnelli reiterated what I often say, which is that we cannot rest on our laurels. We can take nothing for granted. http://markting10.nl/ “We’ll try to get back to winning ways tomorrow, as this is an important game and the lads are ready. In the last two matches we reaped a lot less than we deserved to. “Over the last two years Juventus have won almost everything there was to win and rediscovered international appeal. But the past no longer counts. We have to look forward if we are to repeat our success.” Juve take on Genoa tomorrow afternoon, then host Catania in the midweek round before preparing for Parma and Real Madrid. http://markting10.nl/ “Considering the games we have played and those ahead of us, we will rotate the squad. Fortunately we have two tactical systems that also allow us to change during the games.” Stephan Lichtsteiner, Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella have still not recovered, while Conte revealed Sebastian Giovinco has been taking painkilling injections before every match. “The injuries have reduced our attacking options, but I have great faith in the medical staff.” http://markting10.nl/ The tactician also hit out again at media reports he's looking for an exit at the end of the season. "This is part of the same rumours that want to destabilise us so that we can't win again." http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

REAL MADRID 2 - 1 JUVENTUS C. Ronaldo (4') Fernando Llorente (22′) C. Ronaldo (PG - 29') October 23, 2013 8:45 PM Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Madrid Referee: Manuel Gräfe (Germany) Attendance: 77856 UEFA to drop Real-Juve ref Oct 25, 2013 It’s reported UEFA have taken referee Manuel Grafe off big games after his poor performance in Real Madrid-Juventus. http://markting10.nl/ The official caused controversy on Wednesday night during Juve’s 2-1 Champions League defeat at the Bernabeu. He showed Giorgio Chiellini a straight red card for his shoulder-to-shoulder with Cristiano Ronaldo, either considering it to be an elbow in the face or ending a clear scoring opportunity. According to Tuttosport, the UEFA refereeing commission gave Grafe a very poor score when evaluating his performance. http://markting10.nl/ “It means Grafe is not considered suitable to officiate games of importance, such as Real-Juve,” ex-international referee Graziano Cesari told Tuttosport. “There is no protocol for a suspension, but it’s pretty certain we won’t see him in the Champions League knockout rounds. Even in the group phase, the games he is assigned to will be of a minor level.” http://markting10.nl/ This season alone the 40-year-old has officiated 11 games in all competition, flashing six yellow cards, five red and awarding five penalties. Last term in 31 games he sent off 15 players and gave 144 bookings.

Barzagli has Champions League faith Oct 25, 2013 Andrea Barzagli is convinced Juventus can reach the last 16 of the Champions League – even if they are yet to win in the competition this season. AMAZONIAN The Old Lady, beaten by eventual winners Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals last term, have only collected draws against FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray. They lost 2-1 at Real Madrid this week. “It was a great feeling to play at the Bernabeu,” the 32-year-old told JTV on Friday afternoon. “It’s a wonderful stadium and Real are a fine team. But on Wednesday night we showed that we’re capable of competing with them. AMAZONIAN “We know we must put in a great performance in the return game, but we’ll also be able to count on the great boost provided by playing in front of our fans. “Our route out of the group has become difficult but we know we can still get through – especially after our display in Madrid.” Juventus are going through a rough patch of form considering that they were beaten 4-2 at Fiorentina last Sunday – after taking a 2-0 lead. Genoa are next in Serie A. AMAZONIAN “We need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible in order to forget what happened in Florence,” continued the stopper. “Genoa have recently changed Coach and I think they’ll come here to sit back and put bodies behind the ball. “The championship is more open this year, with Napoli and Roma proving well-equipped rivals. AMAZONIAN “We’ve got our sights firmly fixed on the title, winning the third Scudetto in a row would represent a historic achievement for both the players and club.” Juventus have surprisingly struggled at the back seeing as they have conceded 10 goals in just eight Serie A ties. “We know we’ve got to improve. It’s not that we’re giving that much more away this season, we just need to cut down on the individual mistakes that have barely occurred over the last two years. “ AMAZONIAN The former Palermo player was netted for a nominal fee from Wolfsburg in January 2011 and he’s keen to hang up his boots in Turin. “Playing for Juventus is a privilege for any footballer. I hope to be able to end my career here.”

Agnelli: Calcio at a standstill Oct 25, 2013 Juventus President Andrea Agnelli has again warned that his club can only reach the very top if Italian football allows it to. http://markting10.nl/ Although the Old Lady are making strides on and off the pitch, Agnelli told a shareholders’ meeting on Friday that the game on the peninsula needs reform. “The balance sheet put forward to this board for approval today sees a record turnover and reunites Juventus with its past,” he stated. “We were already ahead of schedule on the pitch, bringing home the 2011/12 Scudetto, but the budget sheet you have in front of you is particularly significant because it marks a substantial move towards balancing the books, whilst maintaining results on the field with our second consecutive Scudetto and Super Cup. http://markting10.nl/ “With the help of you shareholders, Exor and my cousin John [Elkann] first and foremost, this management has been able to win four trophies in just three years, rebuilding the club's heritage which was previously under serious threat, and laying the foundations for the future development of Juventus. "But that's not enough. “Victories and records end up in annals and on lists. Our task is to build the future. Today's turnover puts Juventus in the world's top ten. The previous record put the club among the top three in the world. That's a fact. We've lost a lot of ground over the last 10 years. http://markting10.nl/ “A year on from our last meeting, the situation in Italian football is unchanged. I wrote this in a recent letter to you and I reaffirm it today. The loss of the system's competitiveness is so patently obvious that only the reckless could ignore it. “Juventus will only be able to maintain its competitiveness on the pitch internationally and remain balanced financially if the system's income allows the club to fully achieve its potential. “This is not an excuse. It's a concerned appeal to react and not to consider the decline as inevitable. This might sound like rhetoric but the future really is in our hands. http://markting10.nl/ “It's not easy in a context like Italy, which over a long period has established a deep-rooted culture of power and a precarious culture in terms of government. In fact, it's very difficult. “However, we must ask how politics can look after the fate of the motor of Italian football, namely Serie A, when Italian football shows on a daily basis that it knows neither how to progress nor find the ability to govern its only sector in an adequate fashion? “Serie A, and Italian football as a whole, must go back to being a credible and reliable counterpart for everyone, from the policy makers to the fans, from the world of businesses to the now crucial world of television broadcasters.” http://markting10.nl/ He added: “Lega Serie A needs to have the courage to take its own fate into its hands, must find a new way of having dialogue with sporting institutions and policy makers, must tackle problems with greater calm and a willingness to create a consensus in and around itself. “Without this, we will continue to have half-empty stadiums in disrepair, components of the same federation pursuing specific goals, not systemic ones, inadequate protection of our brands against abuses and counterfeiting, and bizarre laws which are created to limit violence, but only succeed in restricting access for fans and football lovers.” http://markting10.nl/ Turning to matters on the pitch, Agnelli underlined how difficult a third successive title would be for the Old Lady. “Since 2010 Juventus has continued to attract new talent both on and off the field. They have all bought into the cause, they have all put their skills at the service of a shared project, and they all want to push on from here. “That goes for Fabio Paratici, Pavel Nedved, Antonio Conte and the lads who know they have a unique opportunity to make Bianconeri history by clinching a third consecutive Scudetto crown – an extremely difficult achievement. Because winning is never easy and it requires strenuous efforts from everyone. Winning again is even more difficult. http://markting10.nl/ “The same goes for Beppe Marotta, Aldo Mazzia and the entire management staff, as well as the employees who run the club on a daily basis, constantly coming up with fresh ideas in a stimulating environment, albeit one under constant public scrutiny. “But we're not stopping here. We're determined to find new resources, new enthusiasm and new ideas to offer Italian football the help it urgently needs.”

Llorente relishing Juventus attacking system The Spaniard says he is beginning to discover his best form at the fulcrum of a three-man attack and described Giorgio Chiellini's red card as "incredible". Oct 25, 2012 Juventus striker Fernando Llorente feels supporters are starting to see the best of him following his recent good form for the Bianconeri. http://markting10.nl/ The Spain striker scored in the defeat to Real Madrid when deployed as the focal point of a three-man attack and, while he admits recent results have not been good enough, he is relishing a return to a more familiar role up front after his early struggle for form this season. "I feel at ease in the new system, I've played like this in the past," he told Tuttosport. "In general, every time I go out on the field I feel better, like I've improved. It's not always easy to play, but I've worked so hard to do so." http://markting10.nl/ Llorente's return to action has helped rebuild his confidence after spending much of last season frozen out of the Athletic Bilbao side, but the 28-year-old feels the controversial red card issued to Giorgio Chiellini at Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday left his efforts in front of goal irrelevant. "It's true [starting helps to build consistency] but that's not the point. Scoring is important because it gives me confidence, but what is more important is to win and unfortuately we did not succeed against Real," he added. "Sadly, this wasn't because of our own faults: the referee had a really bad day, the sending off of Chiellini was an incredible mistake."

Verratti: It's phenomenal to play with Pirlo The Italy midfielder admits he considers the midfielder and Alessandro Del Piero as role models and is determined to earn a place at next summer's World Cup. Oct 25, 2013 Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has paid tribute to the "phenomenal" Andrea Pirlo and admits he has modelled his game on the Juventus star. http://markting10.nl/ The 34-year-old has won four Serie A titles, two Champions Leagues and a World Cup in a glittering career, and Verratti says he has always looked on Pirlo - and fellow Azzurri icon Alessandro Del Piero - as role models for his career. "When I was little, I loved Alessandro Del Piero, who made history with Juventus and the national team. And growing up, once I took to the pitch, I looked closely at what Andrea Pirlo was doing," Verratti told RMC. http://markting10.nl/ "Now, I play with him in the national team. It's phenomenal."

REAL MADRID 2 - 1 JUVENTUS C. Ronaldo (4') Fernando Llorente (22′) C. Ronaldo (PG - 29') October 23, 2013 8:45 PM Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Madrid Referee: Manuel Gräfe (Germany) Attendance: 77856 Juventus are not in crisis, insists Conte The Italian coach has dismissed suggestions that the Bianconeri are struggling, while he voiced his dismay with the referee's performance. Oct 24, 2013 Juventus coach Antonio Conte has insisted that the Serie A champions are not suffering a crisis following their 2-1 Champions League defeat at the hands of Real Madrid on Wednesday evening. http://markting10.nl/ The Bianconeri are yet to record their first win in Europe this season, but Conte feels that his men showed at the Santiago Bernabeu that they have what it takes to compete with the very best, regardless of the final result. "Last year we were outclassed by Bayern while this season we played a great game against a team who are more or less at the same level as the European champions," Conte said at a press conference. "So I don't think we are in crisis as many said on the eve of the game – quite the opposite actually. http://markting10.nl/ "We played at the same level as Madrid and we could even have won. Now everything is certainly more difficult but we proved we can be competitive against any opponent. "We proved we can play at this level if we really want to. We only lost due to a couple of small details, a couple of things that did not go our way." Conte then went on to discuss referee Manuel Grafe's performance after the German awarded Madrid a penalty and dismissed Giorgio Chiellini and he was not impressed with the official's display. http://markting10.nl/ He added: "The referee certainly affected the game with some dubious decisions, such as Chiellini's red card and the penalty call. "I can only laugh about it. It was definitely not an elbow and it can't be considered a clear goalscoring opportunity either. If that was a clear goalscoring opportunity, then anything is..." Juventus sit third in Group B with two points from three games.
