Spalletti: ‘Saw happy and relaxed Juventus faces’ after first Champions League victory Luciano Spalletti sees ‘more relaxed’ Juventus players now after the 3-2 win away to Bodo/Glimt, as he admits the pressure was getting to them in the Champions League. The Bianconeri were trailing 1-0 in Norway at half-time, but the game changed with the introduction of Kenan Yildiz, who inspired the goals from Lois Openda, Weston McKennie and Jonathan David for a 3-2 victory. ............ “The team played an open and attacking game, which was a struggle at time, as Bodo/Glimt play with really impressive passing and speed of thought on this pitch, that had rather intimidated us looking at their previous home matches,” Spalletti said. “We didn’t make the most of some pretty easy situations in the first half, then after the break they doubled up and pushed hard. This is an important victory, one the lads deserved, and we dedicate it to ourselves and those fans who made the trip to see us here.” “It’s not about choices, it’s also about ensuring the whole squad develops. I am happy tonight because in the locker room I saw happy faces, or at least more relaxed ones, because players are people too and they suffer when things don’t go well. It’s not like those who suggest they are laissez-faire.” ............ “The team kept pushing forward every time, had some good moves and spells of play. Everyone has struggled here, they all told us that it felt like the hosts were going twice as quickly, that they could breathe more easily in this climate, that there were so many difficulties,” continued Spalletti. “It would’ve been a pity not to bring home the points after that second half, as the lads did what they needed to do.” ............ “The team does feel this cloud over them of everything that is said, they don’t have the freedom to make decisions and play their game. There were problems here too, with some attitudes where we allowed Bodo/Glimt back in and we could’ve avoided that. “The players need to grow in terms of belief and courage, we need that extra step in both mentality and our training, because we don’t have the right tempo in training. “A few players are not fully fit or in form, and we need to do this in a real match situation, not in the neutrality of training, because that speed of thought and movement needs that scenario,” concluded Spalletti. . Juventus forward Openda celebrates first goal in win at Bodo/Glimt Lois Openda celebrated his first goal for Juventus as the Bianconeri overcame a challenging fixture against Bodo Glimt to secure a vital 3 points in the Champions League. ............ Juventus won the game 3-2, with Jonathan David scoring the winner for the Bianconeri in stoppage time. “I’m happy for my first goal, but the most important thing was the win. We did it together,” Openda said after the match. ............ Openda admitted the path to this milestone had not been simple. “It hasn’t been easy because I hadn’t scored, but I’m grateful for the support from the club and my family. I know I’m at one of the most important teams, and I know what I have to do. Today, I think I showed it.” The striker also emphasised his readiness to seize opportunities. “I’m ready for any chance I get to play. Today it came, and I scored. I’m happy because we also brought home our first points in the Champions League,” he said. ............ . Read more -> https://football-italia.net/juventus-forward-openda-celebrates-first-goal/

Kenan Yildiz: ‘I hope I helped Juventus a little’ Kenan Yildiz admits he ‘didn’t know’ that he wouldn’t start for Juventus against Bodo/Glimt, but won’t take credit for their first Champions League win. ‘I’m glad I helped a little.’ ............ With the Bianconeri trailing 1-0, he came on at half-time and transformed the game, inspiring them to a 3-2 victory with goals from Lois Openda, Weston McKennie and Jonathan David. ............ “I didn’t know before the game that I wouldn’t play, this was the decision of the coach. I wanted to just do my best when I came on and help the team,” Yildiz said. “I am not concentrated on goals or assists, I am here to help the team, and I’m glad I helped a little tonight.” “I thought it was my best move of the game and it would’ve been lovely for Miretti to score too. The icing on the cake.” This was the first victory of the season in the Champions League for Juventus, who had only managed three draws and a defeat to Real Madrid. ............ . Juventus win goal-fest against Bodo Glimt to end winless run Juventus earned a hard-fought 3,2 win over Bodo Glimt in the Champions League, claiming their first European victory of the season. Both sides entered the fixture without a win in the competition, and with the clear skies in Bodo offering a rare moment of favourable conditions, it was an opportunity for each team to pursue all three points. Juventus were aware of the challenge ahead, yet their manager needed a result, and his team began the match with purpose. As expected, the hosts delivered a spirited display and carried confidence into the contest. Their early pressure was rewarded when Ole Blomberg opened the scoring, capitalising on a Juventus side that had failed to convert its own chances. ............ Juventus returned from the interval with greater intensity and were quickly rewarded when Lois Openda scored the equaliser. This shifted the momentum firmly in their favour, and shortly afterwards, a potential penalty involving Fabio Miretti was dismissed following a VAR review. Juventus continued to push, and Weston McKennie found the next breakthrough, completing the turnaround. Despite taking the lead, Juventus were unable to relax. Bodo Glimt maintained their determination and eventually levelled from the penalty spot, ensuring a tense conclusion to the match. Juventus, however, responded decisively once again, and Jonathan David struck what proved to be the winning goal, sealing their long-awaited European victory. ............ This result arrives at a crucial time for Juventus, offering renewed confidence as they continue their Champions League campaign. Although the performance showed areas that still require improvement. ............ . Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/juventus-win-goal-fest-against-bodo-glimt-to-end-winless-run/

Bodo/Glimt 2-3 Juventus | Player Ratings – Yildiz dazzles in sub-zero battle Juventus picked up their first Champions League win of the campaign tonight with a 3-2 win against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt on a snowy Tuesday night in Nordland. ............ Bodo/Glimt 2-3 Juventus – Player Ratings Bodo/Glimt: Haikin 6; Bjorkan 5.5, Aleesami 5.5, Bjortuft 6, Sjovold 6; Fet 6, Berg 6.5, Evjen 7; Blomberg 7, Hogh 7, Maatta 6 Juventus: Perin 5.5; Koopmeiners 6, Kelly 5.5, Kalulu 6; Cambiaso 6 (Cabal 5.5), Locatelli 6.5, Miretti 7 (Thuram 6), McKennie 7.5; Adzic 6 (Yildiz 8), Conceicao 7.5; Openda 7 (David 7) ............ Best Juventus Player: Kenan Yildiz – With Juventus a goal down at half-time, Spalletti introduced Yildiz for Adzic and the Bianconeri came to life. It took three minutes for the Turk to set up Openda, before an assist for a disallowed Miretti goal. Yildiz brings an exceptional level of attacking confidence to this side – one that was clearly missing in the first 45. Lowest Juventus Rating: Vasilije Adzic – The Bianconeri’s hero in September’s Derby d’Italia was not so impressive tonight. ............ He struggled today and was replaced by Yildiz, a change that turned the game on its head. Coach: Spalletti 7 – A trip to Bodo/Glimt is a notoriously tricky challenge due to pitch and weather conditions, and even if the decision to start Adzic was a bit of a misstep, the coach adjusted his side well and was rewarded with substitution Jonathan David scoring the winner. . UCL | Bodo/Glimt 2-3 Juventus: Yildiz inspiration for first victory Kenan Yildiz came off the bench and transformed the match, as Juventus fought back for their first Champions League win of the season, 3-2 away to Bodo/Glimt. The Bianconeri were still without a win in Europe after three draws and a defeat to Real Madrid, but also struggled with Luciano Spalletti’s three consecutive stalemates in all competition. ............ Francisco Conceicao saw his sudden snapshot palmed wide in the opening minutes, with Vasilije Adzic also testing the goalkeeper. Adzic tried a rather audacious volley at the back post on the Conceicao cross that landed on the roof of the net, when he had more time than he realised to control it relatively unmarked. ............ The hosts scored from the resulting corner, which was flicked on by Kasper Hogh for Blomberg to blast in at the back post, despite Mattia Perin’s attempt to parry on the line with a boot. ............ Juventus tried to respond with Lois Openda on the counter-attack setting up Francisco Conceicao for an angled drive, deflected inches wide of the far stick, then Adzic’s header on a Conceicao cross was palmed away by Nikita Haikin. Bodo/Glimt had penalty appeals when the Hogh effort struck Manuel Locatelli’s ribs first and then onto his arm, but the referee and VAR ruled it involuntary. ............ Kenan Yildiz replaced the struggling Adzic at half-time, moving Miretti into midfield, and he made an immediate impact. There appeared to be a foul on Miretti in midfield, but the move continued, the Yildiz effort was deflected into the path of Openda to fire in. Juve had the ball in the net again soon after following a well-worked move involving Yildiz and the Miretti finish, but Openda was offside in the build-up and it didn’t count. The Bianconeri were pushing hard, though, and did indeed turn the game around when Yildiz picked the perfect through ball for Miretti down the left, he stood up the cross for a McKennie header from six yards. ............ However, they didn’t make those chances stick and Juan Cabal gave away a late penalty with his clumsy, late and high tackle on Auklend’s ankle. Sondre Brunstad Fet stepped up and fired it through the middle, as Perin went down. ............ It was suddenly wide open, as Cabal charged down another Brunstad Fet effort from 12 yards, but Juventus restored their advantage moments later. Kenan Yildiz controlled the long ball with a wonderful first touch, twisted and turned to force a fingertip save out of the goalkeeper, into the path of Jonathan David to tap in. There was almost a fourth deep into stoppages, as Yildiz pulled back from the by-line for another David tap-in from six yards, denied by a desperate Odin Bjortuft clearance. Bodo/Glimt 2-3 Juventus Blomberg 27 (B), Openda 48 (J), McKennie 59 (J), Brunstad Fet pen 87 (B), David 91 (J) . Cambiaso admits Juventus will struggle on Bodo/Glimt’s synthetic pitch Juventus are set to face Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League later today, with the added challenge of playing on a synthetic pitch. The Norwegian club is one of the few in European football still using this type of surface, which has been permitted in the competition. Both teams have struggled in their European campaigns so far, and Juventus are eager to secure a win to improve its position in the group. Bodo/Glimt, meanwhile, are determined to make a statement after their qualification for the tournament was widely regarded as a remarkable achievement. ............ Juventus enter the match as the bigger and more established club, with many expecting them to claim victory. This expectation increases the pressure on the team, particularly given the unusual playing conditions. Most of the Juventus squad have likely spent their entire careers playing on natural grass, making the synthetic surface an unfamiliar challenge. While the pitch will not be used as an excuse in the event of a poor performance, it could complicate their usual style of play and require adjustments both tactically and mentally. Success will depend not only on individual quality but also on the team’s preparation and capacity to manage these additional pressures. ............ Andrea Cambiaso highlighted the difficulties of competing under such conditions. He said, “Playing here is completely different, also because of the climate. I’ll have to change my boots: I haven’t set foot on a synthetic pitch since I was 17 in the Genoa youth team. It will be incredibly tough, but we have to be ready.” ............ . Caressa says Yildiz is getting isolated in Juventus matches Juventus have elevated Kenan Yildiz to a position of major importance in recent seasons, even entrusting him with the prestigious number 10 shirt. The attacker was developed within their system after arriving from Bayern Munich as a teenager, and he rose swiftly through the ranks in Turin. His progress established him as a player capable of improving the team, and he became one of the first names on the team sheet. He also began the current campaign in excellent form, reinforcing the belief that he would remain central to Juventus’ plans for the foreseeable future. ............ Yildiz is widely regarded as a superb talent and is now a regular starter for the Turkiye national team. However, his recent drop in form has contributed to Juventus’ ongoing struggles. The club have relied heavily on him for creativity and attacking inspiration, but in the past few weeks he has been unable to replicate his usual influence. Instead, he has appeared a shadow of the player who had previously impressed so consistently. ............ Fabio Caressa addressed the situation and said: “If we look at the numbers in recent games, he is only participated in 2, 3, 4 per cent of the team’s touches. His rating is mediocre. Yesterday, he had zero touches in the box and one chance created. He is isolated, does not communicate with the others, and does not participate in the action.” ............ .
