  1. Igor Tudor says his future at Juventus will be decided before the Club World Cup After helping Juventus secure Champions League football for next season on Sunday night in Venice, it appears as though interim manager Igor Tudor has drawn a line in the sand when it comes to his future at the club. ............ During his post-match media availability on Sky Italia following Juve’s 3-2 win over Venezia that secured a fourth-place finish and Champions League qualification, Tudor said that he will discuss his future with the club “very soon.” On top of that, Tudor essentially said that it makes no sense for him to manage Juventus at the Club World Cup if he is not confirmed as the head coach for next season — which goes against something that we’ve heard from the club’s management for much of the last couple of weeks and again from Chief Football Officer Cristiano Giuntoli after Sunday night’s game that Juve will decide on their next manager after their participation in the tournament. ............ Here are Tudor’s words regarding his future as Juventus’ manager beyond Sunday night’s season finale: It had also been previously reported in the days leading up to him officially signing with the club that Tudor’s hiring on a short-term caretaker basis included being manager at the summer tournament that will see Juve play at least three games in the United States. Juventus begin group play at the Club World Cup against Al Ain FC from the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday June 18, at Audi Field in Washington D.C. Tudor has every right to both know what the future holds for him at Juventus and the stance to not be a lame duck coaching Juventus at the Club World Cup when he already would know somebody is coming in to take his job once the tournament is over. ............ With rumors spinning that a certain former Juventus manager — and teammate of Tudor’s during his playing days in Turin — might be leaving Naples after leading Napoli to the Scudetto this season, the Bianconeri might be trying to rekindle their old flame shortly. And if that’s the case, then they may as well have their new manager start work and evaluating this squad at the Club World Cup no matter who is actually available to play. ............ . 2. Juventus 3 - Venezia 2: Initial reaction and random observations And now, thankfully, we can exhale. It was not pretty. It was far, far, faaaaaaaar from anything resembling something good for long periods of time. But Juventus, with so much riding on their season finale Sunday night, got the one result that ensured they would have Champions League football come the fall. Manuel Locatelli’s penalty in the 73rd minute — the first-ever PK attempt he’s had since his move from Sassuolo in 2021 — was the difference in an absolute roller coaster of a ride that ended with Juventus recording a 3-2 win over Venezia at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo. It came with so much attached to it — the chances of Juventus actually achieving one of their preseason goals and finally taking the late lead they so desired. Locatelli, with the captain’s armband on full display, was ice cold as can be with his finish, and the subsequent celebration with the traveling fans behind the goal was proof of just that. With the victory — which also ensured the Bianconeri actually finished with more wins than draws in this cursed 2024-25 campaign — Juve secured qualification into the Champions League next season and sent Venezia down to Serie B just one season after getting promoted. ............ Juve had to rally to pull ahead not once but twice along the way against a Venezia squad that showed just about every good and bad characteristic of an Eusebio Di Francesco-managed team. It was a wild, wild time. It started out as the worst of times. Then it was at least some improved times thanks to Kenan Yildiz and Randal Kolo Muani. Then it was the worst of times again, only for Locatelli to make it a happy yet incredibly nervous time again. But they did it. Somehow. Some way. They did it. With Roma easily beating Torino and leading from the 18th minute on, this was the only result that would have gotten Juventus into the Champions League. And they did it. ............ The brand of ball didn’t drastically improve under Tudor’s watch. He described Juventus as a squad that was “lost” when he arrived, so it’s not like things were far from completely fixable when he arrived. But in the nine games in which Tudor was in charge, Juventus won five games, drew three and lost one. Thankfully, that loss to Parma — one of the most frustrating results of the entire season — didn’t come back to completely bite the in the ass. ............ RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS ............ And, for the record, since you might be wondering: Yes, it was a penalty. Go ahead and get your Hans Nicolussi Caviglia conspiracies out, but that’s a penalty all day, every day no matter who attempted that tackle on Francisco Conceição. If that ends up being the last major contribution that Conceição makes as a Juventus player, by the way, let us thank him and wish him all the best in the future. ............ You gotta feel at least a little bit bad for Hans, too. He was wearing the captain’s armband and was having a great second half before that PK happened. He seems like a very nice and professional young man, so that was a nice thing to see ahead of kickoff when he met with Manuel Locatelli for the coin toss. (I know Venezia’s regular captain was suspended, so it’s not like Hans has been wearing it all season, but definitely a pretty big thing for a young guy who’s on loan at the club.) ............ Speaking of keepers, that near-post save by Michele Di Gregorio a couple of minutes before Locatelli sunk the PK sure proved to be pretty important, huh? Bravo, Di Gre. You done good. How Yildiz and Khephren Thuram were able to walk off that field — dear lord please let them just be cramps and nothing actually to do with a muscle injury — might be a minor miracle. I really have no idea how these guys do it. And that’s especially true when it comes to such a physically demanding game like this one was. Yildiz in his seven appearances with Tudor as manager: three goals and two assists. I think that was a pretty good way to close the season. And with Juve qualifying for the Champions League, the need to sell the club’s biggest asset seems a lot less of a pressing matter. For that, we should all be thankful. Those long and mazing Thuram runs from one end of the field to the other will never get old. He’s got all the tools to be a great midfield, and I hope that happens at Juventus for a long time because they need somebody like him to build around. That defense before Renato Veiga came on ... my goodness. ............ I’m sad that Alberto Costa’s goal didn’t count — still not totally convinced that actually was his arm that the ball hit — because that was an absolute screamer. He’s had a couple of close calls lately, and to finally break through in that kind of way would have been so badass. ............ That atmosphere in Venice was special, man. That crowd knew what was at stake, tried to will their team to a win and they nearly did just that. I hope Venezia comes back to Serie A soon and adds another chapter to their recent yo-yo between the top divisions of Italian football because it’s just a cool place to play in every way. ............ 4. Juventus beat stubborn Venezia to secure Champions League football Juventus sealed qualification for next season’s Champions League with a 3-2 victory over Venezia this evening, in what proved to be a dramatic end to their league campaign. Knowing that their destiny was entirely in their hands, the Bianconeri travelled to face Venezia in a must-win encounter on the final day of the season. However, their hopes of a straightforward evening were dashed almost immediately, as Daniel Fila opened the scoring for the hosts inside the first two minutes. ............ Despite the disappointment, Juventus maintained their composure and gradually began to dominate possession. ............ Their efforts were rewarded when Kenan Yildiz found the equaliser, injecting renewed confidence into the side. Shortly after levelling the score, Juventus capitalised on their momentum and took the lead through Randal Kolo Muani. ............ However, Venezia had other plans and struck early in the second half through Ridgeciano Haps, levelling the score once more and casting doubt over Juventus’s hopes of securing a top-four finish. ............ Their breakthrough came when a penalty was awarded and converted by Manuel Locatelli, whose composed finish restored the lead and ultimately sealed the outcome. With time ticking down, manager Igor Tudor made several substitutions to inject fresh energy into the team and maintain their advantage. . Juventus saw out the remainder of the match with disciplined defending, ensuring they ended the campaign on a high note and clinched a place in Europe’s premier competition for next season. . 8. Juventus suffer fresh injury blow amid selection crisis in defence There’s worrying news from Turin as Juventus defender Renato Veiga trained separately this morning, potentially worsening Igor Tudor’s selection crisis in defence for a key game at Venezia. Portuguese defender Renato Veiga did not train with the rest of the Juventus squad this morning due to a muscle fatigue. ............ It’s pretty bad news for coach Tudor, given that Federico Gatti, another centre-back, continued to train separately on Friday, like central midfielders Teun Koopmeiners and Weston McKennie. Juventus are already without injured defenders Gleison Bremer, Juan Cabal, and the suspended Pierre Kalulu. ............ Lloyd Kelly returned to action last week after recovering from a hamstring injury. As things stand, the ex-Newcastle defender is set to start in a three-man backline against Venezia, joining Alberto Costa and Nicolò Savona. . 9. Serie A Preview: Venezia vs Juventus – Team News, Line-ups & Prediction Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo forms the backdrop for a ‘make or break’ final-day Serie A showdown between Venezia and Juventus. Though the reasons are different, the goal is the same – take three points or wave goodbye to your seasonal goals. Relegation-threatened Venezia head into proceedings two points adrift of safety after Cagliari thumped them 3-0 last weekend. Eusebio Di Francesco’s side had briefly reignited their survival hopes with a stunning 2-1 home win against Fiorentina, only to throw everything away at the Unipol Domus. ............ Juventus won’t be out to make friends as they fight tooth and nail to fend off Roma in an intense top-four battle. A 2-0 home win against Udinese last time out saw the Bianconeri preserve a slender one-point lead over Claudio Ranieri’s side heading into the season finale. Therefore, there’s no margin for error. Head coach Igor Tudor may be fighting for his job as well. Securing another season at Europe’s top table could be just what the doctor ordered for the Croatian manager amid talks Juventus could try to re-sign Napoli boss Antonio Conte in the summer. Match Preview Venezia ............ Juventus Dusan Vlahovic returned to the scoresheet against Udinese and could make his final appearance for Juventus this weekend. Despite talks the Turin heavyweights could sign Victor Osimhen to replace the Serbian superstar, their hopes of landing the Napoli superstar have suffered a massive blow. Per French outlet Foot Mercato, the Nigerian could soon complete a shock transfer to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal. Nonetheless, dining out at Europe’s top table next season would significantly bolster Juventus’ hopes of reinforcing their squad in the summer. As such, extending a four-game unbeaten league run (W2, D2) with a win is imperative. Facing bottom-five sides on the road hasn’t been smooth sailing for Juventus. Indeed, they’ve managed just one win in such fixtures this season (D2, L1). Their overall away form in 2025 paints a similar picture, with only two competitive victories on the road (D6, L4) and none in their last five. As if that’s not concerning enough, Juventus netted 2+ goals in just one of those 12 matches. Team News ............ On the other hand, only long-term absentees Arkadiusz Milik, Juan Cabal, and Gleison Bremer are on the list of missing players in the Juventus camp. Indeed, Teun Koopmeiners and Weston McKennie are back to full fitness, while Nicolo Savona and Khephren Thuram return from suspension. Venezia vs Juventus Potential Starting Line-ups Venezia (3-5-2): Radu; Marcandalli, Schingtienne, Cande; Zerbin, Perez, Nicolussi Caviglia, Busio, Ellertsson; Yeboah, Gytkjaer. Juventus (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Savona, Veiga, Kelly; McKennie, Locatelli, Thuram, Cambiaso; Gonzalez, Yildiz; Kolo Muani. Venezia vs Juventus Prediction Given the stakes, it’s reasonable to expect both teams to be cautious in the early exchanges. Another low-scoring contest could be in store, and that’s the environment that better suits Juventus, who should take three points. Prediction: Juventus to Win . 10. Preview: Venezia vs. Juventus - prediction, team news, lineups Both teams will have a lot on the line when Venezia host Juventus in Sunday's Serie A season finale, with the hosts staring relegation in the face at Stadio Penzo. While the Lagunari need help from elsewhere to have any chance of avoiding the drop, Juve are looking to secure a Champions League return for next season - victory will wrap up fourth place for the Bianconeri at the end of another sub-par campaign. Match preview With just one match remaining, Juventus occupy pole position in the sprint for Champions League qualification, though there are still three teams capable of claiming fourth place depending on the outcome of another Serie A 'Super Sunday'. While the Turin giants will guarantee fourth spot if they beat Venezia, both Roma - who play away against Juve's city rivals Torino - and Lazio, at home to Lecce, stand ready to pounce. Juventus lead fifth-placed Roma by one point and sixth-placed Lazio by two, so they are on track to achieve the board's minimum requirement - albeit a tie between any of the trio would see head-to-head records decide their fate. Taking one step closer last week, the Bianconeri saw off mid-table Udinese, with both goals created by Kenan Yildiz: Nico Gonzalez broke the deadlock on the hour mark before Dusan Vlahovic finally ended his drought by firing home a late second. The latter is one of several men whose future is up in the air - including interim head coach Igor Tudor, who will lead Juve to the new Club World Cup next month but could then depart - so a summer of change may await. First, though, Tudor will attempt to win an away game at his fifth attempt since replacing Thiago Motta, as the Croatian's prolonged trial period continues. After a last-gasp leveller from Vlahovic salvaged a 2-2 draw in December's reverse fixture, Tudor's men are aware that only maximum points will do this weekend - otherwise, fourth place could go to either club from the capital. ............ Team News Igor Tudor should be able to call upon utility man Weston McKennie, despite the USA international limping off with an ankle injury last week, while Juventus can also welcome back both Khephren Thuram and Nicolo Savona from one-match bans. Pierre Kalulu is still suspended, joining long-term absentees Juan Cabal, Arkadiusz Milik and Bremer on the sidelines; furthermore, midfielder Teun Koopmeiners continues to struggle with an Achilles issue. Hoping to displace Randal Kolo Muani up front, misfiring striker Dusan Vlahovic scored against Udinese after a run of seven league matches without a goal, and Sunday's game could potentially be his last for the club. With two assists, Kenan Yildiz took his tally of Serie A goal involvements up to 10, becoming the youngest player to hit double figures this season. Juve have a points-per-game average of 2.1 with the Turkish star in their starting lineup; that drops to less than half (1.0) when he does not start. ............ Venezia possible starting lineup: Radu; Marcandalli, Schingtienne, Cande; Zerbin, Perez, Nicolussi Caviglia, Busio, Ellertsson; Yeboah, Gytkjaer Juventus possible starting lineup: Di Gregorio; Savona, Veiga, Kelly; McKennie, Locatelli, Thuram, Cambiaso; Gonzalez, Yildiz; Kolo Muani We say: Venezia 1-2 Juventus Much improved since the turn of the year, Venezia have become tougher to beat on home turf - but their final-day fixture is far from ideal and relegation surely awaits. For all their flaws, Juventus still boast plenty of quality and - following a few scares - they should get the win that secures Champions League qualification. . 11. Did Totti just confirm that Conte is coming to Juventus? Juventus are being strongly linked with a move to bring Antonio Conte back to the Allianz Stadium this summer. The experienced Italian manager is currently on the verge of securing the Serie A title with Napoli, and his reputation as a winner continues to grow. ............ Juventus are reportedly exploring its options for the manager’s role at the end of the season. While Igor Tudor currently occupies the bench and is pushing to secure Champions League qualification, the Bianconeri’s leadership remain keen on appointing a top-level tactician to lead the club into a new era. ............ However, it remains unclear whether Conte is open to leaving Napoli so soon after taking charge. His impact at the club has been immediate, and the project there is still in its early stages. Speculation has intensified after Francesco Totti was asked about the managerial situations involving both Conte and Massimiliano Allegri. His remarks have led some to believe that both managers may have already made decisions about their future. Totti commented: “They are two coaches who have already signed for other teams, so neither of them.” His words seem to support recent reports suggesting that Allegri is set to replace Conte at Napoli, while Conte could indeed be heading back to Turin. ............ . 12. What is Juventus realistic target at the Club World Cup? Juventus are among the clubs set to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins next month, and current manager Igor Tudor is expected to remain in charge for the tournament. The competition presents both a challenge and an opportunity for the Bianconeri as they prepare to represent Italian football on the global stage. ............ Once Serie A concludes, preparations for the Club World Cup will begin in earnest. The tournament’s new format includes more teams and additional fixtures, which will require greater depth and fitness from the squad. Juventus may need to evaluate their current options and potentially sign reinforcements to remain competitive throughout the event. ............ While every team enters the Club World Cup aiming to win, Juventus must approach the tournament with measured expectations. Competing against some of the best clubs from around the world, including well-prepared sides such as Inter Milan, will be no small task. A sensible target for the Bianconeri would be to progress beyond the group stage. Once in the knockout rounds, they can reassess their goals based on the strength and form of their opponents. ............ .
