  1. Champions League|Juventus v PSV: Match Preview The Allianz Stadium in Turin is set to host a crucial Champions League playoff first leg as Juventus welcome PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday evening. This match marks a pivotal moment for both teams as they vie for a spot in the coveted Round of 16. Juventus, under the guidance of Thiago Motta, find themselves in an unfamiliar position. Despite boasting one of the stingiest defences in the league phase, conceding just seven goals in eight matches, the Bianconeri could only manage a 20th-place finish. Their offensive output was equally uncharacteristic, netting only nine times – a stark contrast to their usual standards. ............ Juventus have shown signs of resurgence in recent weeks. After a string of draws in Serie A, they’ve strung together consecutive victories, including a commanding 4-1 win over Empoli and a hard-fought 2-1 triumph against Como. The Old Lady will be eager to carry this momentum into their European campaign. PSV’s domestic form has been slightly less convincing, with a recent 1-1 draw against Willem II allowing a resurgent Ajax to close the gap at the top of the Eredivisie. ............ For Juventus, all eyes will be on Randal Kolo Muani. The PSG loanee has hit the ground running in Turin, notching five goals already, including a crucial late winner against Como. His form could be pivotal in deciding this tie. PSV will look to their talismanic captain, Luuk de Jong, to lead the line. ............ Thiago Motta has maintained Juventus’ reputation for defensive solidity while gradually implementing a more progressive style of play. Expect the Bianconeri to be disciplined without the ball but look to exploit spaces on the counter-attack. ............ This fixture carries added significance as it marks only the second-ever major European encounter between these two storied clubs. Their previous meeting in the league phase saw Juventus emerge victorious with a 3-1 win in Turin. . Read more -> https://www.footitalia.com/champions-league-juventus-v-psv-match-preview-2/
  2. Koopmeiners is closer to being a flop than Douglas Luiz The top European clubs wanted Teun Koopmeiners after his heroics helped Atalanta reach the Coppa Italia final and win the Europa League. He spent three seasons at Atalanta, and he was in fantastic form for them, so Juve was sure he would shine in their team. ............ Koopmeiners has now begun to struggle to replicate the form he showed at his former club in Turin, and Juve has struggled to get the best from him. The Dutchman has to do better than he is doing now, but it seems unlikely that he will ever be a better player. Douglas Luiz is another summer signing who has struggled since he moved to Juve in the summer, but the Brazilian is closer to doing well for the team. In the last few weeks, Luiz has looked sharper and seems to now have a better understanding of what Juve wants from him. If that trend continues, Thiago Motta must make the bold decision to replace Koopmeiners with the Brazilian because the Dutchman now looks closer to being a flop. . 3.
  5. Moggi Praises Kolo Muani Signing, Criticizes Juventus Performance Former Juventus general director Luciano Moggi has offered his thoughts on the club’s recent 2-1 victory over Como in Serie A, praising the acquisition of Randal Kolo Muani while expressing concerns about the team’s overall performance. ............ “Despite having to navigate financial constraints, Giuntoli has demonstrated great intuition by acquiring a sharpshooter like the Frenchman, who secured the result despite having only half a playable ball in the entire match.” ............ “It’s the only pleasant thing about the evening. Juventus was overwhelmed by Como’s play, which was moving at double speed, while Juventus stuttered, defending for 90 minutes.” ............ “At the moment, what’s missing is the Thiago Motta of Bologna who won while playing beautiful football, while the Juventus version, when he wins (which is rare), does so on the counter-attack and playing poorly.” . 6. Siebert to referee Juventus vs PSV in Champions League UEFA have confirmed that German referee Daniel Siebert will officiate Tuesday’s Champions League match between Juventus and PSV Eindhoven. ............ Siebert will oversee the Turin clash, aided by assistant referees Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn, with Christian Dingert as a VAR. ............ Siebert has solid refereeing experience in his native country, having officiated 179 Bundesliga games since 2012. The 40-year-old oversaw his first Champions League match in 2018 and has since refereed a total of 18 games in the competition. ............ Siebert last officiated a Juventus match in the Champions League in 2022, when the Old Lady drew 1-1 at Villarreal in a first-leg round-of-16 encounter, with the Spanish side shockingly winning 3-0 in the return leg at the Allianz Stadium a few weeks later. . 7. Thiago Motta planning to revamp Juventus midfield for Champions League contest Juventus coach Thiago Motta is reportedly set to overhaul his middle of the park for Tuesday’s Champions League contests against PSV Eindhoven. ............ In their most recent fixture, Juventus earned a laboured victory over Como, beating their hosts thanks to a last-gasp spot-kick. However, the club’s uninspiring display at the Sinigaglia could have some repercussions for some of their players. Motta could be set to drop Teun Koopmeiners and Manuel Locatelli. This would be a notable statement from the manager considering how these two midfielders have automatic starters this season. Nevertheless, some of their recent outings were less than impressive, especially the Dutchman who has yet to justify his hefty price tag. The source thus expects Khephren Thuram to get the nod in the middle of the park after finding himself on the bench in the last couple of outings. ............ Moreover, Douglas Luiz could take the field from the get-go following a decent cameo on Friday. ............ Finally, the report tips Francisco Conceicao to retain his starting role on the right wing, either at the expense of Kenan Yildiz or Nico Gonzalez. . 8. How much PSG will ask to sell Kolo Muani – Can Juventus afford it? Following his enthralling start to life in Serie A, Juventus are absolutely hellbent on keeping Randal Kolo Muani in Turin. ............ So with five goals in three fixtures, Kolo Muani became the first-ever Juventus player to find the back of the net in his first three appearances for the club. But while Juventus are desperate to keep him around beyond the current campaign, it won’t be an easy task at all. The 26-year-old joined from Paris Saint-Germain on a dry loan until the end of the season. Hence, the Bianconeri haven’t acquired the option to buy him in June. But the Italian giants are already plotting for a permanent transfer. They will either try to buy the versatile attacker outright or at least secure a loan deal that includes an option to buy (or more likely an obligation). ............ PSG should request a figure worth around 50 million euros (which is more or less the player’s nominal value on their balance sheet) in order to avoid recording a capital loss. Moreover, the report believes Juventus will try to fund the operation by selling the man who lost the most since the Frenchman’s arrival, Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian bomber’s contract will expire in June 2026, so selling him next summer could be compulsory to avoid losing him for free a year later. . 9. Fabio Capello compares Koopmeiners to a Barcelona legend who flopped at Milan Legendary Italian manager Fabio Capello weighs in on Juventus summer signing Teun Koopmeiners who has yet to prove his worth in Turin. ............ While his manager Thiago Motta has been staunchly defending his performances in recent months, some believe the Italian Brazilian is considering dropping him to the bench for the Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday, especially after hooking him off the pitch in the second half against Como. For his part, Capello compares Koopmeiners to his compatriot Patrick Kluivert who also had a torrid run at Milan. The Dutch striker rose to stardom during his time at Ajax, prompting a transfer to Milanello in the summer of 1997. ............ “He reminds me of Kluivert,” said the 78-year-old manager. “He arrived at Milan with great expectations after the years at Ajax, but he struggled to fit in with us. His talent was not in doubt, not by chance, once he left Milan, he repeated himself with goals at Barcelona.” ............ . 10. How Juventus plans to keep Kolo Muani beyond this season Juventus already plans to extend Randal Kolo Muani’s stay at the Allianz Stadium beyond this season following his January arrival in Turin. ............ Muani himself would be keen to stay at Juventus, as he is no longer in Paris’s plans. His move to Turin has given him a fresh start, and he is keen to prove himself in Serie A. However, Juventus faces a challenge in signing him outright in the summer, as his potential transfer fee might be a stumbling block. ............ Juventus’ sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, plans to bring Muani back to Turin at the end of the season for another loan spell. This time, however, Juventus intends to include an obligation to purchase the player permanently, which would be financed by the sale of Dusan Vlahovic. At the end of this season, Vlahovic will be offered to clubs across Europe, and Juventus believes they can sell him for a substantial fee. ............ Muani’s presence has already shown positive results, and his ability to link up play and finish chances in front of goal makes him an ideal fit for Juventus’ attacking needs. Should the move be finalised, it would represent a significant shift for the club as they look to build a more cohesive attacking unit under their current manager. . 11. Pedullá says with Koopmeiners Juventus are essentially ten men Journalist Alfredo Pedullà has delivered harsh criticism of Juventus’ summer signing Teun Koopmeiners. The Dutchman was one of the best midfielders in Serie A last season during his time at Atalanta, which prompted Juventus to make a move for his signature. ............ However, since making the switch to Juventus, Koopmeiners has struggled to replicate the form that made him such a standout at Atalanta. The Bianconeri have been patient, hoping he would rediscover his best performances, but as the season progresses, his impact has remained underwhelming. Instead of growing into his role, he appears to be lacking the sharpness and influence that defined his time in Bergamo. Pedullà has not held back in his assessment of the midfielder’s performances. Speaking about Koopmeiners’ struggles, he was quoted as saying: “He can’t play like this, he leaves the team with ten men. Psychologically, he is not on the ball, he is not focused on the game. He should stay on the bench and return only when he is mentally recovered.” ............ . Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/journalist-says-with-koopmeiners-juventus-are-essentially-ten-men/
  12. Randal Kolo Muani is already making history at Juventus When Randal Kolo Muani signed on loan with Juventus a couple of weeks ago, I really had no idea what to expect. His time with Paris Saint-Germain was totally unimpressive, with the only thing notable being just how much money the Parisians paid to bring the now-26-year-old striker back to his home country of France. A clear sign that he was very much out of favor with PSG manager Luis Enrique, Kolo Muani played just 358 minutes in Ligue 1 this season. He needed minutes, with some sort of move away from French capital — be it on loan or something more permanent — and a move to Juventus during the January transfer window provided just that. But nobody saw what Kolo Muani has done in his first three appearances coming. Not even the most optimistic of Juventus supporters saw this red-hot start. Kolo Muani’s five goals in his first three games with Juventus isn’t just some sort of club record who have had their very accomplished list of French players (and strikers) come through their ranks over the years. No, it’s much more than that, folks. With his brace against Como to help Juventus record a 2-1 win Friday night — his second two-goal outing in less than a week — Kolo Muani became the first ever player to score five goals in his first three Serie A games in the three-point era that dates back three decades before he was even before. Not bad for somebody who was basically cast aside by PSG in January, right? ............ He’s scoring every time he steps onto the field. And no matter what you think about Dusan Vlahovic’s salary, that’s more than what Juventus’ No. 9 has been doing both of late and on the season. ............ Here’s the funny thing in all of this: Kolo Muani, in three Serie A games, nearly has as many goals (5) as he scored in 26 appearances last season (6). That shows you how much — a lot like what Moise Kean is doing right now with Fiorentina after his summer move away from Turin — that a simple change in scenery and a little bit of confidence going again can really get a player’s form back on track. The more Kolo Muani scores — and certainly over the next couple of weeks in Serie A and the Champions League it will important with who is on the schedule — the more we will probably see Vlahovic coming off the bench. Because let’s face it, there’s no reason for somebody other than Kolo Muani to start up front for Juventus right now. He’s just too hot and, at least through these first three games in bianconero (or bright yellow), he’s scoring at a rate that no newcomer has in decades. . 13. Guido Vaciago says Kolo Muani has ended the debate about Juventus strikers For much of the time that Juventus relied on Dusan Vlahovic as their main striker, there was considerable debate over whether he was receiving the right service. ............ Now, under a new manager who emphasises attacking football, Juventus has seen better movement in the offensive phase of play. This new approach should, in theory, provide the perfect conditions for Vlahovic to thrive. Yet, despite these improvements, he has continued to struggle, and the Bianconeri have not been able to get the best out of him. The club addressed their attacking needs in the January transfer window by signing Randal Kolo Muani on loan from PSG, and the Frenchman has made an immediate impact. Muani has been in superb form, scoring five goals in just three league games. His brilliant performances have made it increasingly difficult for Vlahovic to secure a starting spot, as the Frenchman’s contributions have brought a new dynamic to the Juventus attack. ............ Guido Vaciago has commented on the situation, stating that Muani’s arrival has put to rest the debate over the service provided to Juventus’ strikers. He said: “The rediscovery of the forgotten sensation of playing with a centre forward who scores goals and having a bit of luck gives the Bianconeri fans a thrill and three points to Juventus. Not that Dusan Vlahovic doesn’t score goals (13 in 28 games this year), but since Kolo Muani has been there, the tiresome debate about the underserved or badly served striker seems to have ended. The Frenchman’s first goal is a deadly demonstration of physical strength, technique and self-confidence.” ............ . 14. Kolo Muani’s Impact at Juventus: From Loan Star to Potential Permanent Signing Randal Kolo Muani’s arrival at Juventus has been nothing short of spectacular. The French striker, on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, has made an immediate impact, scoring five goals in just three starts for the Bianconeri. His performances have not only impressed the fans but have also caught the attention of manager Thiago Motta and the club’s hierarchy. Initially brought in to provide attacking options for the remainder of the season, Kolo Muani’s contributions have been so significant that Juventus are already considering making his move permanent. The 26-year-old has demonstrated his versatility, playing as a central striker in place of Dusan Vlahovic or as a wide forward when needed. Kolo Muani’s ability to link up play, create depth in the attack, and finish chances has made him an integral part of Motta’s tactical setup. His goal-scoring record speaks for itself, with notable performances including a goal at Napoli’s Stadio Maradona, a brace in a comeback win against Empoli, and another double in the recent victory over Como. ............ To avoid a financial loss, PSG would likely demand a fee in excess of 45-50 million euros. Juventus might be able to fund such a move through the potential sale of Vlahovic, who has been linked with Premier League clubs and Saudi Arabian teams. Kolo Muani’s current salary at PSG is reported to be around 9 million euros gross per year, which, while significant, is not out of reach for Juventus. ............ After his recent match-winning performance against Como, Kolo Muani expressed his happiness at Juventus. His integration into the team and his on-field success suggest that both the player and the club are open to extending their relationship beyond this season. . 15. Pavan has his say on Juventus beating Como and he is not impressed Massimo Pavan admits that Juventus were fortunate to have beaten Como last night, as it was not their best performance of the season. The Bianconeri secured a 2-1 win following a late penalty after it seemed they were heading for another disappointing draw. The win, however, was essential for a team that cannot afford to drop more points in the league if they want to finish inside the top four. ............ The victory against Como, while important, highlighted the team’s ongoing struggles. Juventus have not been at their best for much of the campaign, and Como, in particular, might feel that they deserved more from the game. Pavan acknowledged that Juventus were far from their best, expressing that the team’s performance was below par. He said: “Juventus didn’t play well and took sixteen shots, we need to do better, this time it went well, it could have ended in a draw and that would have been the right result, but given the past, these are three points that balance out other games. The penalty for Juve was fair, the handball was judged as in other cases this season.” ............ While the win against Como was significant, it was clear that Juventus must improve their overall play if they are to remain competitive in the race for the top four. Without better performances, their hopes of finishing the season strong could quickly slip away. . 16. Pasqualin says Motta does not seem to have a solution to Juventus problems Thiago Motta has struggled to make a significant impact as Juventus manager since taking charge in the summer. The former midfielder arrived in Turin with a glowing reputation after an impressive spell at Bologna, where he led the club to one of their best seasons in recent history. His tactical acumen and ability to develop players made him a highly sought-after coach, and Juventus were convinced he was the right man to take them forward. ............ There is no denying that Juventus have changed their style of play under Motta. They are a more attacking and fluid side compared to last season, offering a brand of football that is more exciting for fans. However, despite this stylistic improvement, their overall results have not seen the expected progress. Juventus remain inconsistent, and their chances of finishing in the top four are far from guaranteed. Given the club’s ambitions, missing out on Champions League qualification would be a huge setback. Motta has signed a long-term contract, and it is unlikely that he will be dismissed at the end of the season, regardless of where Juventus finish in the league. However, the growing frustration among supporters is becoming evident, with many demanding better performances and more consistent results. Football agent Claudio Pasqualin has been closely observing Juventus’ struggles and believes Motta has yet to fully grasp the issues plaguing the team. He stated: “He gives the impression that he has not yet found the key to the problem.” ............ . 17. “Como dominated the match” Pundit reacts to Juventus late win against Como Juventus left it late to secure an unimpressive 2-1 win against Como last night, and it was far from their best performance. While Juventus boasts a squad with far superior players compared to Cesc Fabregas’ side, in most phases of the game, the home team appeared to be the more dangerous side. The final result may have gone in favour of the Bianconeri, but with performances like this, they will struggle against stronger opponents, with PSV potentially knocking them out of the Champions League during the playoff phase. ............ Pundit Valon Behrami, in particular, insisted that Como was the dominant side during the game. He said: “Como dominated the match, but Juve’s great players resolved the game. We expected more from Juve in their play, in building the manoeuvre. They never managed to get into the rhythm of the game. Today Juve was concrete.” ............ The Bianconeri will need to improve significantly if they are to be competitive against stronger opponents in the coming fixtures. If they are struggling against a team like Como, things could take a turn for the worse when they meet teams of a higher calibre. Juventus must find a way to play with more consistency and fluidity if they are to achieve their goals this season. ............ . 18. Juventus player ratings v Como – Standout star gets top mark Michele Di Gregorio – 7.5 He pulled off at least two fine saves to keep Juventus in the game. Timothy Weah – 7.5 ............ Federico Gatti – 7.5 Another decent performance from Gatti, who also won the penalty for Juve. Renato Veiga – 7.0 He looked far more stable and reliable than in his previous outing. Nicolo Savona – 6.5 ............ Teun Koopmeiners – 6.0 ............ Manuel Locatelli – 7.0 Led the team from midfield with another committed performance. Weston McKennie – 7.5 The American played closer to the goal in this tactical setup and delivered a good display. Kenan Yildiz – 7.5 Motta deployed him behind the striker, and his darting runs caused Como constant problems. Nicolas Gonzalez – 7.5 A fantastic shift from Gonzalez, who used the ball more effectively and dynamically than Francisco Conceição. Randal Kolo Muani – 8.5 With performances like this, Dusan Vlahović has lost the battle to be Juventus’ main striker. Substitutes Lloyd Kelly – 6.5 Settled quickly into the rhythm of the game. 19. Juventus 2 - Como 1: Initial reaction and random observations For now, we exhale. I say that because that’s exactly how I felt when the final whistle sounded Friday night. It had all of the makings of a 14th draw in Serie A on the 2024-25 season for Juventus. It had the blown lead after going up a goal. It had a second-half performance that left so much to be desired and was a far cry of what we saw from Thiago Motta’s squad after the break against Empoli last weekend. But unlike so many instances in which Juventus have blown a lead this season and gone on to draw — something that has resulted in 17 points being dropped from a leading position — they were actually able to find an answer to get things back in their favor during the closing minutes. It just so happened that the two goals came through the same source in which so much of Juve’s goal scoring has been courtesy of the last two league fixtures. That’s right, my friends, everybody’s newest favorite striker Randal Kolo Muani continued his red-hot start to life at Juventus, scoring both goals — including an 89th-minute penalty kick after Federico Gatti got whacked right upside the head — in the Bianconeri’s 2-1 win over Como that had all the makings of another draw against a relegation battler. Kolo Muani’s fourth and fifth goal with Juve helped his new club win back-to-back games for just the third time this season and for the first time since November. ............ This was a grind and involved a whole lot of trying to survive during long stretches of play when Como were clearly the better side. There were plenty of times in the second half in which the sight of Juventus and Como basically being even on possession didn’t even feel close to what my eyes were seeing because the home side had so many chances to score. Somehow, Juventus survived it. I honestly don’t know how they did, but they did. So much of this game didn’t make sense — from the fact that Como had twice as many shots as Juventus to the simple fact that Motta’s squad scored two of the three shots they had on goal. It was the ultimate walking of a fine line from staying in a position to actually go back ahead or letting Como take their first lead of the night. ............ This was far from a good Juventus performance. But it’s a night in which they got three points. In a season that has plenty of confusing moments that have lead to equally confusing results, it’s nice to see Juventus actually get a win even though we’re left to kinda wonder how the heck they actually did it. RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS The same starting lineup? In back-to-back games? That’s crazy talk! (It’s just the second time in Serie A that it’s happened this season — which, considering it’s early February, isn’t exactly the best thing.) ............ To make matters worse, Michele Di Gregorio has almost twice as many saves (5) as Juve have shots (3) as this game headed toward the final 25 minutes. That’s not great. Di Gregorio’s first save of the night sure was a good one. He needed every bit of his wingspan to get that deflected shot as it headed toward his back post. ............ Teun Koopmeiners ... buddy, you’re not doing a lot to help yourself and turn things in your favor with mistakes like you made on the Como goal right before the half. That was rough on multiple fronts, and I’m guessing the slip was just the cherry on top. ............ I know Motta’s substitutions are far from perfect and it’s definitely an aspect in which he needs to work on as a manager no mater how long he will be at Juventus, but it was good to see him realize that the midfield of Koopmeiners and Manuel Locatelli just wasn’t working. There definitely was a change for the better once Khephren Thuram and Douglas Luiz came on even if the nonchalant nature of Luiz’s game still is totally hard to get. ............ We’re 1,100 words in and this is the first reference of Dusan Vlahovic, the highest-paid player in Serie A. Against Como, he was a DNP-CD. And with how Kolo Muani is playing right now, I think it’s pretty easy to figure out who will start up front against PSV Eindhoven next week. Renato Veiga ... pretty solid once again. So far, so good through his first two games with Juventus. ............ Juventus has won two games in a row! That deserves exclamation marks simply because it hasn’t happened very often this season. Ah, maybe they can even make it three in a row in Serie A next weekend. A guy can hope, right? 20. Gatti: ‘I would never give these penalties, for or against Juventus’ Federico Gatti insists it is ‘strange’ that Como coach Cesc Fabregas would be so enraged by the penalty incident, the Juventus defender claiming he’d be ‘against it even if it was in our favour.’ The fallout from the 2-1 Bianconeri victory was all about a situation that happened when it was still 1-1 at the Stadio Sinigaglia. Anastasios Douvikas had controlled and was running towards goal when Gatti put an arm across the striker’s chest and his fingertips brushed the ball, pushing it away from the Como player. It was evaluated very briefly by VAR, but they opted not to take any action or suggest an On-Field Review, a decision that angered Como coach Fabregas. ............ “I am honestly surprised, it is strange that a coach who played at such a high level in his career would say something like that,” replied Gatti. “It is frankly ridiculous now that penalties are given for every tiny touch, we defenders are not given any support and we are excessively penalised, we’re not allowed to do anything anymore. “If we give penalties for this, then we may as well just give up playing football.” ............ “I put my arm to be an obstacle for the player, not the ball. The trouble with VAR is you can’t tell the extent of the touch,” he continued. ............ . Read more -> https://football-italia.net/gatti-never-penalties-for-against-juventus/

  22. Kolo Muani makes history matching Baggio’s Juventus record Randal Kolo Muani has made history for Juventus with his fourth goal in the first three Serie A games, matching a feat last achieved by Roberto Baggio in 1990. The striker arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January and has made a spectacular impact on Italian football. He was on target again this evening in the Serie A trip to Como at the Stadio Sinigaglia, opening the scoring on 34 minutes by blasting into the roof of the net from a tight angle. It was his fourth goal in just three Serie A appearances, but above all meant he had scored in each of his first three league games in the Juventus jersey. ............ 23. Thiago Motta: ‘Juventus had right attitude’ in victory away to Como Thiago Motta admits Juventus ‘have to do better,’ but he was satisfied with the hard-fought 2-1 win away to Como. ‘The lads had the right attitude in a difficult situation.’ The Bianconeri had not managed two consecutive Serie A victories since November, but much like the 4-1 result against 10-man Empoli, this was far from a sparkling performance. ............ “I have good sensations. Playing against Como here is not easy and it hasn’t been easy for anyone. They play very good football, cause opponents all sorts of problems if you are not wide awake, as they attack in so many different ways. We did well, we can certainly improve, but we played the game we needed to get the victory,” Thiago Motta told Sky Sport Italia. “I am pleased for the lads, because they deserve it and have been working so hard since the start of the season. I was also very impressed with those who came off the bench today, they had the right attitude in a difficult situation and raised the level at that moment.” ............ Kolo Muani has now scored five goals in his first three Serie A appearances for Juventus, making a huge impact since his arrival on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. “He is scoring goals, but he can improve too. He must keep working, goals are an important part of football and not the only part, as a striker has other work to do too. I like his smile, he has helped the team since his first day here,” continued Motta. “Every striker has their own characteristics and way of helping the team.” ............
