Infatti l'Ajax ha deciso di rispedire il giocatore alla Continassa, comunicandolo attraverso una nota ufficiale la scelta del club olandese: «L'Ajax ha comunicato a Mohamed Ihattaren e Juventus che l'opzione di acquisto non sarà esercitata. Il prestito di Ihattaren scadrà il 3 gennaio 2023 e non sarà prorogato». Tra un paio di mesi dunque il trequartista ritornerà a disposizione di Massimiliano Allegri, anche se è probabile che possa trattarsi di una sosta breve per ripartire verso una nuova destinazione. Tanti problemi Tornato in Olanda a gennaio di quest'anno dopo la sfortunata avventura alla Sampdoria, Ihattaren è stato mandato in seconda divisione con lo Jong Ajax, raccogliendo solo una manciata di minuti con la prima squadra: i problemi fuori dal campo hanno poi portato il club alla sospensione e alla decisione di non esercitare l'opzione.
